2013 Weight Watchers over here!

INeedThatForkOff · 06/01/2013 08:54

The previous thread title and OP wad intended for information only, but as a few people arrived wanting a bit of mutual support, I thought a more specific thread title might be in order, esp if there's anyone else wanting to join in. I think the cashback deal on online membership expires now, anyway.

Can you introduce yourselves with a quick summary of your aims, please?

I'll be doing Weight Watchers online only. DS is nearly 10 weeks and I'm BFing, so I get 40PPs a day, plus the weeklies. I'm not sure how easily the weight will come off with that amount, but can't cut down any further yet.

I have 3 1/2 st to lose altogether. I'm currently 12st 7lb and was 10st pre-DC after previous success with WW. I'd like to go a bit further this time.

My short term goal is to be a bit slimmer for a family wedding next month. Unfortunately I'm the gat cousin and need any extra confidence I can get.

My WI is Thursday. So far, so good. I'm snacking but sticking to my PPs + weeklies. Struggling to get much exercise due to two poorly DCs, but hoping to find time for a DVD today.

Morning all. I'm a bit ropey after a bottle of pink wine last night. I did try and make good food choices though so quite pleased. Off to London today for more wine and food but am determined to stay in control even if I go over points. Grin

Have a great day all - I plan to!Wink

bigTillyMint · 27/01/2013 08:44

Morning everyone!

Just WI and seem to have lost a pound despite stuffing my face last night - thanks noway - had a good night and managed to not drink tooo much!

crunchies hope you have a good day down here!

Now need to force myself out to the gym, but it's peeing it down ATM...

AddictedtoCrunchies · 27/01/2013 09:45

Going to sing along a Joseph Wink.

CiderwithBuda · 27/01/2013 10:27

Bit of a blip here last night. Too much wine which led to a packet of crisps and some ice cream and a mince pie. Am left in minus figures again with my weeklies. Ouch. When will I learn. I am blaming DH as he started cooking early and poured me a glass of wine at around 5.15. In went the wine and out went the willpower!

So no weeklies left. And need to really stick to plan today and tomorrow for WI on Tuesday.

Nowaynohow - the stevia should be ok. Although I would try not to have too much. I add loads of blueberries to my porridge and find I don't need to sweeten it. Good luck with it. Hope it helps.

BigTillyMint - impressed at you going to gym on a Sunday! Do one for me will you? Ta! Grin Oh - well done on loss too.

Crunchie - enjoy your day.

It's nice and sunny here. I should go out for a walk. I really should......

SallyBear · 27/01/2013 10:41

Porridge here for breakfast. I'm going to make leek, watercress and potato soup for lunch (0pp on F&H) and then Roast chicken for dinner. Trying to keep my weeklies down to a full roar as I'd like a glass of wine tonight.

Usual Sunday filled with school uniform laundry and trying to finish homework before they go back tomorrow.

bigTillyMint · 27/01/2013 10:55

Gwan Buda - it's lovely out thereSmile

CiderwithBuda · 27/01/2013 11:17

It was lovely here Tilly but raining now. Oh well.

Just had poached eggs on toast for breakfast. Not sure about lunch. May make a zero point soup of some description. Dinner will be lasagna. Normal lasagna for DH and DS and I am going to try using leeks instead of lasagna sheets in mine. Saw it on Hairy Dieters and bought the book for DH for Xmas so might give that a go.

Sunday plans here are putting some pictures up - we have been in this house for 18 months and are still sorting and putting pictures up! May finally get a mirror up in bedroom too. Also the usual getting stuff ready for school and I want to spend some time sorting our holiday. Have also been clearing and sorting kitchen cupboards so may continue with that.

onthemetro · 27/01/2013 16:20

NoWayNoHow, I like to think that my tears won't help me lose weight Grin I hope you're feeling a bit better now, and ooh I am envious of the Strada trip! Have fun Grin

Tilly, well done on the loss!

I just had to make a mad dash to Tesco before it closed as my plans for dinner have gone right out the window! Was planning toad in the hole (8pp, from the recipe section on the WW website) for DP and I but he's been on the toilet for most of the afternoon and is feeling rotten, so doesn't want anything to eat. So no toad in the hole. Doesn't feel worth it to make it just for myself, so got a ready meal instead. I hardly ever buy ready meals so it feels like a bit of a treat! I picked a chicken and prawn paella, it's Tesco Light Choices and about 11pp.

Will have to cut out my planned half a tin of rice pudding (5pp) to fit it in, and just have a yoghurt for dessert instead. Oh well.

Buda, I've been wondering whether to get the Hairy Dieter's book - their show was fab and we went through a phase of having their chilli salad bowls almost every night. Is it good? And WW compatible?

AddictedtoCrunchies · 27/01/2013 19:15

I've had such a lovely day and now finishing off with A cocktail before going to paddington. I chose a dacquiri as thought it'd be better than the creamy ones the others are drinking

onthemetro · 27/01/2013 21:50

I love daiquiris, especially raspberry ones. Ooh, and raspberry mojitos I need a night out

I am feeling pretty good today, apart from that ready meal blip. The only thing I really want is a bag of those baked Walkers crisps, I feel like I can almost taste them
But the shops are shut and we don't have any so it'll pass with no harm done Grin

Hope everyone had a good day

flatmouse · 28/01/2013 08:10

Monday morning (as well as being WI day) is catch up on the thread day!! Can't comment on all but well done the losses and keep going the not-so-losses! (and i hope the recipes are making their way into the recipe thread?)

WI has me lost 1lb exactly this week - bit of a slow down after 2 weeks of 3.2lbs but i suppose the slow down was inevitable. I have to admit to being a little disappointed as only used 21 weeklies and had stashed 24 activities. I've got my silver 7lb star (Whoop Whoop) - and now have only 28pp instead of 29 (and i'd just got used to it too!!).

For the third week in a row, i will say "I really must do more exercise". Not sure how i go from saying to doing!! JM is waiting for me by the DVD......

flatmouse · 28/01/2013 08:15

(oh, and i kinda thought the full leg and bikini wax on Sat would have lost me at least 2lbs Wink )

SallyBear · 28/01/2013 10:01

Too much information Flatmouse!!!!!! Super Silver Seven for you!

CiderwithBuda · 28/01/2013 10:43

Note to self: step away from the wine. Step away from the wine!

Had far too much wine over the weekend which led to eating crap late at night. Nightmare. Why why why do I do it to myself?

I reckon I have had next weeks weeklies as well as this weeks. Blush

SallyBear · 28/01/2013 11:19

------------
Crunchie line for you Buda. X

LegoAcupuncture · 28/01/2013 11:37

Hi everyone. Had a bad weekend, I blame DH and my mam!

Back to business today. Not going to weigh myself as will only dishearten me, so going to ankle this week and see how we go.

Well done on losses!

onthemetro · 28/01/2013 13:35

Well done Flatmouse!
Buda, make use of that Crunchie line and just start afresh :) Happens to everyone, especially when there's wine involved ;)
Lego that's the right attitude I think, just to get back to business ASAP :)

I've had a bit of a crap, stressful day so far and all I want to do is curl up on the sofa and cry and maybe let chocolate console me. But I must keep my chin up and just get on with things. Have had a shower to make myself feel more human, and am making lunch - a WW wholemeal pitta (3pp) with 100g Tesco chunky tikka chicken (3pp) and loads of salad. And a WW yoghurt I think, should satisfy my sweet tooth.

Hope everyone is doing ok today

DublinDoll · 28/01/2013 19:01

This is my second week of WW, lost 5lbs last week and was delighted, am struggling this week, I am so hungry! I need to plan better and make the most of my points. I really struggle with dinners.

onthemetro · 28/01/2013 19:03

Have you looked at the recipes on the WW site, DublinDoll? I just made a broccoli and chicken cheesy bake for 5pp and am also having 4pp of pasta with it which isn't so bad.

Just a reminder for everyone that the Dispatches show about WW is on Channel 4 at 8 tonight :)

onthemetro · 28/01/2013 19:03

Oh forgot to add, DublinDoll, well done on your loss! 5lbs is wonderful in your first week Smile

INeedThatForkOff · 28/01/2013 20:01

Well done Flatmouse.

Will have to watch the Dispatches things on 4od at some point.

OP posts:
LegoAcupuncture · 28/01/2013 20:38

Hanks for the reminder, watched it, wasnt that shocked about tbh although was very surprised at the ice cream thing.

I don't buy any WW goods apart from a few chilled ready meals. Don't buy the frozen ones, they are rank.

I don't go to meetings, hate them, hate the hard sell they do on their products only available there. The meetings I did go to we're full of old ladies who never lost weight.

Stickwithit · 28/01/2013 21:45

Oooh just watched the programme. It's made me furious!! IMO it was a one sided lazy piece of journalism.

I'm perfectly ready to admit that WW has its flaws, but really did the programme tell any sensible person anything that they didn't already know?

Lesson one: WW products contain nasties- no shit Sherlock its there on the ingredients list.

Lesson 2:WW products are expensive compared to 'non-diet' versions. Again I think that's pretty obvious, and noone is forcing anyone to but them.

Lesson 3: It's too tricky to work out the points value of products which pushes people towards buying WW products. I disagree with this- its dead easy to work out the points value of most things, there's a calculator for everything else. It's easy.

Lesson 4: Many people regain the weight they lost at WW. I don't think it is fair to blame WW for this- its down to a persons's food and lifestyle choices. I know there is a chance I will regain my losses in the future- but this will be my own fault.

Lesson 5: WW costs money, quite a bit of money. They showed two women looking incredibly shocked when the annual cost of their WW membership was revealed to them- surely it shouldn't have been such a huge shock. They really only needed to multiply their monthly fee by 12.

Sorry for the rant. I'm not WW biggest fan by a long chalk, but do Dispatches think we are all completely stupid??!!

AddictedtoCrunchies · 28/01/2013 21:50

If you follow the theory of eating healthy, natural (as in not processed) food in moderation and move more, you will lose weight. If you follow the plan for two weeks then go back to how you were before, you'll stay over weight. Fact. "Do what you've always done, get what you've always got."

I follow WW because it keeps my food choices healthy and under control. End of. Grin

The prog was just sensationalising something most people already now. Give me two fingers of KitKat over a WW choc bar any day!

I'll get off my soapbox now. Night gorgeous WW pals Grin

bigTillyMint · 29/01/2013 07:01

Totally agree stick and crunchies - good posts!

And FWIW, when I went to the meetings, I never felt our leader was hard-selling the WW stuff (but maybe I'm just impervous to it!) However, her meetings were always rammed, so maybe she didn't need to as she was making a shedful on the subs!
