2013 Weight Watchers over here!

The previous thread title and OP wad intended for information only, but as a few people arrived wanting a bit of mutual support, I thought a more specific thread title might be in order, esp if there's anyone else wanting to join in. I think the cashback deal on online membership expires now, anyway.

Can you introduce yourselves with a quick summary of your aims, please?

I'll be doing Weight Watchers online only. DS is nearly 10 weeks and I'm BFing, so I get 40PPs a day, plus the weeklies. I'm not sure how easily the weight will come off with that amount, but can't cut down any further yet.

I have 3 1/2 st to lose altogether. I'm currently 12st 7lb and was 10st pre-DC after previous success with WW. I'd like to go a bit further this time.

My short term goal is to be a bit slimmer for a family wedding next month. Unfortunately I'm the gat cousin and need any extra confidence I can get.

My WI is Thursday. So far, so good. I'm snacking but sticking to my PPs + weeklies. Struggling to get much exercise due to two poorly DCs, but hoping to find time for a DVD today.

stickwithit it's not a recipe, just something I made up. I halved a butternut lengthways, roasted it, and when the flesh was soft, I scooped it out and mixed it with 50g sliced cured chorizo, 50g diced feta, halved cherry tomatoes and diced roasted peppers (the ones in brine). I then just put the mixture back into the skin and back into the oven to warm through.

It's quite a massive ports, TBH, so you could definitely Duce the few and chorizo to make it smaller/fewer pp.

AddictedtoCrunchies · 25/01/2013 08:22

Weigh in today and................4lbs off!! Smile Total of 8lbs since I started 3 weeks ago.

And that's since Monday as I changed my weigh in day. Now got to get me thrugh the weekend within my weeklies.

Just put some jeans on which feel decidedly looser.

Have a great day all, you lovely inspiring bunch of gorgeous people Thanks Thanks

SallyBear · 25/01/2013 08:30

Yay crunchie!! That's fabulous!

flatmouse · 25/01/2013 08:37

Crunchies WELL DONE :) Sally hope DS4 on road to recovery.
Ended up with smoked haddock last night - YUM - so with 9 points for my half bottle of wine, i still had 6 points left over (this is what happens when you don't get to have your porridge in the morning :( ) However - i really couldn't eat any more (did think could maybe have a slice of xmas cake).

Today is going to be porridge with apple for bfast, salad with balsamic vinegar, egg and chorizo for lunch, and then the rest of my points are to be spent on wine and tea (so likely to go into weeklies) - chicken fajitas for tea - tortilla wraps are 3pp each, so i suspect i'll only have one proper wrap and maybe some more chicken/peppers with salad.

Made a huge slab of scottish tablet last night for our friends for Burns' night - hope it measures up - not tasted it as i've not got a major sweet tooth and i expect each crumb would be 5pp !

flatmouse · 25/01/2013 08:37

ooh and jazzcat hope you enjoyed your meal out :)

SallyBear · 25/01/2013 08:54

Thanks Flatmouse for the get well thoughts. He has I suspect Flu. Hard to ask him how he is feeling and where it hurts as he doesn't speak, so just screams at me as he is frantic. Autism sucks.

We had chilli and brown rice last night. I've decided that I can't cope with extra lean or lean mince as it just tastes of nothing and is dry and chewy. Sticking with normal mince. It tastes better. I do think that dieting is about taste as well as changing eating habits. My DF is doing WW in Canada and he has lost 17 lbs since the start of December. He puts it down to portion control and snacking on some fruit with a handful of nuts. He's probably right.

flatmouse · 25/01/2013 08:57

It is all about the taste - and enjoying what you eat - if it's a chore or too hard, only a few would do it. I'm sticking with using 2 pp on half tablespoon of olive oil rather than going to frylight. As my DH commented, we're eating delicious food - and having fun trying new recipes. (He quite excited to try cauli-rice too).
Subconsciously through tracking our points, we are learning what foods to put together within a day, to balance the points - and portion control :)

Stickwithit · 25/01/2013 09:13

Congratulations on your major loss crunchie, it's really motivating to hear.

Hope DS feels much better soon sally.

flatmouse we had fajitas this week. I had one and a half wraps, and bulked it out with extra onions, peppers and mushrooms, delicious.

I'm off work today, with nothing much planned which is usually something I really look forward to. But I'm feeling rather apprehensive as my mind keeps thinking about what yummy treats I could eat while I have a chill outSad.

I've decided to try and make a meal plan for the next week and then go shopping for ingredients. I will need will power to avoid the sweet stuff in the supermarket!!

I hope everyone has a great day.

Stickwithit · 25/01/2013 10:29

sally I think there's only 2 or 3 points difference between regular mince and v low (5%) fat mince. I agree that this plan is so much more sustainable if you enjoy what you are eating.

onthemetro · 25/01/2013 11:31

Wow, well done crunchie! Grin
Agree that you shouldn't compromise on taste - that's one of the things I love about WW...their own products aside, there's no focus on 'low fat'/diet products. I was about to buy the low fat rice pudding that Ambrosia does before I realised that the normal rice pudding is only a point more and tastes so much nicer. I just know that if I ate something that I didn't REALLY enjoy just to save loads of points that I'd be so unsatisfied and would be immediately looking around to see what else I could eat Grin

I'm sad to say that I did end up having a few jaffa cakes last night! But all within points, so it's all good. Working from home today, have had a big breakfast of porridge with golden syrup (love love love that it's quite low in points. Today I had 3tsp for 1pp, what a pp bargain!). I have lots of fruit and diet Coke to keep me going til lunch Smile

Have a good day all!

SallyBear · 25/01/2013 11:40

Metro I shared a WW secret that golden syrup is 0pp for a tspn! I have a tspn on my porridge too. I also make my porridge with water and a bit of salt, then add some milk and the syrup. It keeps it all low and still satisfying. GrinGrin

onthemetro · 25/01/2013 12:03

It's great isn't it, sally? Grin I have such a sweet tooth and it really helps!

Stickwithit · 25/01/2013 12:20

Wow, zero points for a teaspoon of golden syrup even 3 teaspoons is just 1 point! Thank you very very much this is extremely good news!!

I can't understand how something do lovely and sweet could be so low in points? Still, who am I to question weightwatchers points,,,,,,

SallyBear · 25/01/2013 12:42

A tspn of sugar or honey is 1pp! Go figure?!

outtolunchagain · 25/01/2013 14:10

Wrote a long message last night but it seems to have disappeared. Well done to everyone with their weight losses and thanks for all the support after my bad day.Yesterday was much better and am determined to keep on track today,i have decided that the key is not to let myself become too hungry because that is when I tend to binge .

Thanks for the tip about the golden syrup,I have started on the porridge breakfasts ,although I hate making it and it definitely fills you up

onthemetro · 25/01/2013 15:57

Just had a warm Kingsmill toasting waffle (2pp), a tsp of golden syrup and a banana. Just what I needed, energy levels are starting to drop now and it's bloody freezing!

Glad to hear today is going better for you, outtolunch. I feel like bad days only matter if you don't pick yourself up again, if you know what I mean.

I have my WI tomorrow morning, I haven't weighed myself all week and I've been on plan 100%, so I'm looking forward to seeing if I have a loss. Fingers crossed.

Haha, I just spotted the Scottish smileys! [bgrin]

NoWayNoHow · 25/01/2013 17:14

Crunchies well done on an AMAZING loss! 4lbs!! Incredible.

Sally so sorry to hear your DS is sick Sad - is he feeling any better?

How can maple syrup be lower in pp than honey???

So, changed my WI from Mondays to Fridays - WI this morning showed a loss of 0.8lbs. So, a TINY bit better than last week, and I'm clutching at straws reassuring myself that this WI is coming after only 4 days as opposed to 7, and then AF is just round the corner (present no.1 from AF - I retain oceans of water). In general, though, I'm massively fed up with 1.5lbs in 2 weeks. What's the point?

Have had a bit of a piggy day today (present no.2 from AF - perpetual hunger). Had crumpets for breakfast and 0pp soup for lunch. All good so far. Follwed by a Big Bag of Minstrels for 9pp Shock Shock

So cross I fell into the trap, but even with dinner tonight planned in, I'm only 1pp over weeklies, although I know I will have wine tonight which will eat up a few more. Also too morose to exercise today (present no.3 from AF - grumpy bitch personality transplant).

Taking DS out for the day tomorrow, have some vouchers for Cafe Rouge - can anyone with an Eating Out guide tell me what they say the pp for Moules Mariniere is?

SallyBear · 25/01/2013 17:26

According to the iPhone app the Moules starter is 5pp, but that doesn't include the bread to mop up the liquor!

SallyBear · 25/01/2013 20:51

Hard week with DS, terrible night and tonight I couldn't be bothered to cook. So it's a Chinese takeaway tonight, but just a House Special Fried Rice (the one with the gravy as they say at our local Chinese!). I'm not pointing it as I'm doing F&H so I will draw a Crunchie line under tonight! xx

Oscarandelliesmum · 25/01/2013 20:54

Hello, may I join please?Smile
This is only day two of weight watchers.....am eleven stone and 5 ft 4. The online tool has given me 33 points a day as I am bf ds but he is also now on solids. May I ask a potentially dub question?! Is it good to use all your points in a day or best to have as many left as possible? Do they roll over to the next day?
Uncharacteristically small supper must be addling my

Thanks
Smile

Livinginorganisedchaos · 25/01/2013 21:15

Well, I had my weigh in today and I lost 1lb. Very mixed emotions TBH from disapointment to feeling fed up and back to "well any loss is a loss". The thing is I have tracked everything I have eaten and only needed to use 6 weeklies. I have done my Jillian Michaels DVD 6 out of 7 days and even squeezed in 2 runs. I just thought I would be losing more at this stage.

However, then I got dressed and noticed how much better my clothes are fitting and how much flatter my tummy is looking (thank you Jillian!).

I have managed to talk myself back to sticking with to tracking everything although I did splurge some weeklies on a donut today. I am realising it just may be very slow to lose this weight and I will have to be patient.

Now I just have to try and point some haggis, neeps and tatties!

AddictedtoCrunchies · 25/01/2013 21:28

Here's a line for you Sallybear. You've done so well so just start again in the morning Grin

Welcome oscarandelliesmum. this is a lovely supportive thread. You can't carry points over so you need to eat all your 33 or you lose them. Your weekly 49 are for wineextras. Good luck and feel free to ask anything - someone's bound to know the answer Grin

AddictedtoCrunchies · 25/01/2013 21:29

So the crossing out thing doesn't work on my phone then.

living if your trousers feel loose I'd go with that. A pound's a pound Grin

SallyBear · 25/01/2013 21:31

Thank you Crunchie. Chinese was yum, but I'm now regretting it. Shock Oh well I have my Crunchie line. Back on board the WW Wagon tomorrow. Night all!!! Grin

Stickwithit · 25/01/2013 21:37

nowaynohow, I'm sorry you've not had the results you hoped for (and deserve). As you say, you've not given it a week as yet. I'm no expert on WW, having only recently started so I'm not sure what to suggest. AF does seem to play a part though- I know it causes me to put on weight for several days.

Sally here is a line for you:__Grin

Living, after reading that you have stuck to your points, and done a massive amount of exercise it seems confusing that you've not had a bigger loss. But I think you did say at the start of the thread that you wanted your clothes to fit better- which it sounds has already started to happen.
