2013 Weight Watchers over here!

INeedThatForkOff · 06/01/2013 08:54

The previous thread title and OP wad intended for information only, but as a few people arrived wanting a bit of mutual support, I thought a more specific thread title might be in order, esp if there's anyone else wanting to join in. I think the cashback deal on online membership expires now, anyway.

Can you introduce yourselves with a quick summary of your aims, please?

I'll be doing Weight Watchers online only. DS is nearly 10 weeks and I'm BFing, so I get 40PPs a day, plus the weeklies. I'm not sure how easily the weight will come off with that amount, but can't cut down any further yet.

I have 3 1/2 st to lose altogether. I'm currently 12st 7lb and was 10st pre-DC after previous success with WW. I'd like to go a bit further this time.

My short term goal is to be a bit slimmer for a family wedding next month. Unfortunately I'm the gat cousin and need any extra confidence I can get.

My WI is Thursday. So far, so good. I'm snacking but sticking to my PPs + weeklies. Struggling to get much exercise due to two poorly DCs, but hoping to find time for a DVD today.

Ok. You need to think of things that will give you that rush without the points. M&S are doing guilt free popcorn that's 3pp a bag - comes in different varieties.

DisappointedHorse · 23/01/2013 20:22

Hello, can I play? I'm doing my annual post Christmas pilgrimage back to WW.

I currently weigh 10st 8lbs and want to lose a stone exactly. I'm only 5'4" so 9st 8 might still sound heavy but it feels just right.

I did WW 5 years ago and lost 5 and a half stone to take me to goal. Ive stayed mainly at goal since but this time it's quite a catastrophic gain so I'm nipping it in the bud now.

I don't like the new plan at all though, mainly because it feels like I can drink less I think! Wine is my downfall. That and I don't trust the fact fruit is free.

Good luck y'all.

jazzcat28 · 23/01/2013 20:34

It was a case of my eyes closing while driving down the motorway so had to stop at the services and get something

I think I need a strategic coffee at 4.45 to help me survive

Livinginorganisedchaos · 23/01/2013 20:55

Chilly I totally agree with you about WW teaching you to avoid the diet trap of giving into a craving and then thinking you may as well have the rest of the day off and stuffing your face. I like the fact that you can eat anything as long as you compensate the rest of the time.

NoWay I am doing the Jillian Michaels DVD Ripped in 30 at the moment which is circuits and I have decided to point it as step aerobics as I sweat loads and it definitely feels harder than running.

Having a hard week as I am feeling tired and the novelty of being on the diet is wearing off and I am beginning to covet the childrens donuts and DHs beer. I am keeping my fingers crossed I have a loss on Friday to keep me motivated.

flatmouse · 24/01/2013 08:43

Last night, after totting up the points for the evening meal (salmon, brown rice, veg - was delicious), i realised i had 9, yes 9 dailies left. Well, you know what 9 points are??? HALF A BOTTLE OF WINE! Get in! :)

Need help today tho ladies please. What to have for dinner tonight? Breakfast is bowl of melon (0pp) (only because we ran out of milk so i couldn't have porridge. Lunch is soup (1pp) and crisps (4pp) and apple (0pp). So i will have a whopping 24pp left to use. But i have no inspiration. We have some Hoki in the freezer that i could get out - but that's low point, so how shall i cook it? What with? Suggestions gratefully received!! (Mind you we also have smoked mackerel in the fridge which is a bit of a fave and is 12 pp, so today may be a good day for that instead).

outtolunchagain · 24/01/2013 09:07

Totally fell off the wagon last last night feel awful now. Not sure what came over me , ate loads of fruit flapjack and a pice of cake. Bit of a binge really Hmm

Have started this morning with porridge and a banana , just got to put it behind me I suppose, feel such a disaster area, one bad day and I binge againAngry

chillyigloo · 24/01/2013 09:26

Outtolunch, here's a crunchier line for you:

Put it underneath yesterday's binge and have a well tracked day today. We ALL have these little blips.

x

chillyigloo · 24/01/2013 09:28

Crunchie, not crunchier.

addictedtocrunchies : Your lines are famous now and are getting well used this week Grin

SallyBear · 24/01/2013 09:32

Flat mouse, what about kedgeree with the smoked mackerel?

NoWayNoHow · 24/01/2013 09:48

Flatmouse, I've got a recipe for mackerel, white bean and watercress salad? It's for 2, but if you've got loads of points it could be just for you and would be MASSIVELY filling?
170g pickled sweet baby beetroot,
1 smallish shallot, thinly sliced
1 x 400g can cannellini beans, drained and rinsed
smoked mackerel fillets (just pp whatever you have)
50g watercress

Just halve the beetroots, put them in a bowl with a tbsp of their juice and the shallot until it softens. Then mix everything else in.

Can't remember pp for cannelini beans, but not insubstantial!

flatmouse · 24/01/2013 12:25

Thanks Sally and NoWay - depends what veg etc DH buys - although i'm sorry NoWay but i'm a picky devil who hates beetroot so that wouldn't work for me :)

Today's bonus was being able to fit (comfortably) into my work trousers again - YEY!

Outtolunch get back on the wagon!! Are you craving sweet things? Or was it a "just because it's there" - if the first, try to introduce some low point alternatives. I'm lucky, not too bothered by the sweet stuff - but savoury - crisps (especially if i'm on the wine) are a struggle - we did home made popcorn (in our duck popcorn maker) and put a little salt on it - gave me my savoury fix at low pp. (Obv no butter to help the salt stick).

AddictedtoCrunchies · 24/01/2013 13:04

thanks ChillyIgloo, glad I'm helping in some small way.

I've just had a ginormous bowl of my homemade chicken and mushroom soup and it's only 1pp. Means I've got 23 left for tea and to scoff in front of the TV this evening

All my usual activities have been cancelled this week so me, the sofa and the TV is not good news for WW.

Weigh in tomorrow. Smile

SallyBear · 24/01/2013 14:34

Knackered as DS4 has been ill now for three days with 39-40 degree temps. So today breakfast was a crumpet with a tsp of golden syrup (syrup is 0pp for a tsp), lunch was an omelette with ham mushrooms and cathedral city light cheese in it. No idea what dinner will be. I would kill for a curry as I'm tired and craving crappy food, plus I haven't been in a supermarket since last Thursday. So the cupboards aren't exactly stocked.

jazzcat28 · 24/01/2013 15:09

Am ravenous today as am going out for dinner tonight so have been saving my points:

Breakfast - porridge

Lunch - can of Heinz ministrone soup 3pp, ryvita 3pp and fruit

Dinner at Prezzo (points values from Eating Out book) -

Starter tiger prawns 8pp
Main chicken and pesto risotto 17pp
Pud milk choc fudge cake 12pp

Despite the haribo incident last night I'm still well within my weekly allowance so might even be able to have a glass of wine!

Cups of fruit tea and glasses of water are keeping me going this afternoon

The weekend is also going to be challenging as my parents are visiting so I need to cook WW friendly meals that will please them too

givemeaclue · 24/01/2013 15:57

2nd wi today. Have lost 5lbs in two weeks (on line). Very pleased and not finding it difficult am quite enjoying it . Note to self: keep it up. Have been here before....but am 100% determined "this time". 2013 is my year.

givemeaclue · 24/01/2013 15:59

Sally bear I an having golden syrup tsp at breakfast too. Find it kills a sweet craving and is zero points

CiderwithBuda · 24/01/2013 16:57

Golden syrup is 0 points??? Really? Wow. I did not know that! Must remember for next time I have no blueberries for my porridge.

Givemeaclue - well done on that loss. Great result.

Jazzcat - envious of your night out. Sounds lovely.

I think I need to be more clever with my points. 1pp for a filling soup is what I need instead wasting points. I seem to have used more points than I planned today. I need to track as I go and plan more.

We are on a mission to use stuff from the freezer so dinner tonight is a marinaded chicken thingie. Not sure what to have with it. Might just have some salad.

INeedThatForkOff · 24/01/2013 16:59

I'm getting on ok with no effort - 1lb a week off so far (4lbs altogether). Going to be a bit more careful this week to see what I can do.

OP posts:
givemeaclue · 24/01/2013 17:11

I an doing my tracker the night before and that's working for me as I an not thinking".what shall I have..." It's already decided. I make a list each day of all zero point foods I have and when hungry work my way down the list!

SallyBear · 24/01/2013 18:34

I definitely find that putting my dinner on the tracker first, helps me. I have enough points for a glass of something tonight! Thank god. Oh alcohol how I've missed you!

NoWayNoHow · 24/01/2013 19:49

Evening all.

Yy to planning ahead - I'm a complete saddo big fan of weekly meal planners. Makes shopping really easy, I don't impulse buy, and I know in advance what I'm having for lunch and dinner each day which makes pp a bit easier.

Very proud of myself - I knew I had 11pp left for dinner and only butternut soup planned, and I managed to sit in Starbucks and not fritter the pp away on a tiny sweet thing that would've lasted all of 3 seconds. So changed my mind on dinner and had butternut stuffed with tomatoes, red pepper, chorizo and feta, PLUS a glass of wine. YUM. So glad I didn't have a shocking piece of cardboard sugar earlier!

Good luck to anyone WI tomorrow!

PseudoBadger · 24/01/2013 19:55

I'm definitely more successful if I put dinner on the tracker in the morning.

onthemetro · 24/01/2013 20:33

Had a Starbucks hot chocolate earlier, with skimmed milk...but still about 8pp. Feeling a bit disappointed as I've had a point heavy day but I suppose that's what weekly points are there for. Only just getting home from work, am knackered! Must not dive head first into the Jaffa cakes...

Livinginorganisedchaos · 24/01/2013 20:52

Hugs to everyone on the thread today as a few people are sounding a bit down and fed up. I have had a few difficult days, just generally feeling less satisfied with the healthy snacks and really craving rubbish.

I have managed to stick to the plan and keep exercising but am worried about caving in to a night of excessive wine and pringles at some point.

However, I keep reminding myself that one night off the wagon does not mean that there is no point carrying on with the diet. I really want to stick to this long term and its not a race or a quick fix. The odd night off just means it will take slightly longer to get to goal. We are heading in the right direction and that is the most important thing.

I am also going to record my measurements once a month as sometimes that can be more motivating.

So, stay strong everyone and keep on posting!

Stickwithit · 24/01/2013 21:16

onthemetro step away from the Jaffa cakesGrin.

Good luck to everyone who has a WI tomorrow, my usual WI is on a Friday but I went to a Tuesday meeting instead this week and had lost 2lb. I'm only on week 2 and am a bit amazed that it all actually works!!

noway your butternut squash recipe sounds absolutely delicious. I'm off to google it.
