2013 Weight Watchers over here!

INeedThatForkOff · 06/01/2013 08:54

The previous thread title and OP wad intended for information only, but as a few people arrived wanting a bit of mutual support, I thought a more specific thread title might be in order, esp if there's anyone else wanting to join in. I think the cashback deal on online membership expires now, anyway.

Can you introduce yourselves with a quick summary of your aims, please?

I'll be doing Weight Watchers online only. DS is nearly 10 weeks and I'm BFing, so I get 40PPs a day, plus the weeklies. I'm not sure how easily the weight will come off with that amount, but can't cut down any further yet.

I have 3 1/2 st to lose altogether. I'm currently 12st 7lb and was 10st pre-DC after previous success with WW. I'd like to go a bit further this time.

My short term goal is to be a bit slimmer for a family wedding next month. Unfortunately I'm the gat cousin and need any extra confidence I can get.

My WI is Thursday. So far, so good. I'm snacking but sticking to my PPs + weeklies. Struggling to get much exercise due to two poorly DCs, but hoping to find time for a DVD today.

Well done all on their losses - and those that are straying - draw that crunchie (it was crunchie?) line !!
Having had my virtuous 1pp soup for lunch yday (with crisps!) I had enough points for a lamb chop (9pp), portion of Aldi French Fries (oven bake 8pp - and 125g is quite a lot!), broccoli and sugar snaps, and 2pp left over to use some wine to make a luscious gravy/sauce for chop.
I am beginning to think in advance what to eat which seems to help, and is also helping reduce stuff in freezer/cupboards!
Porridge with chopped up apple for bfast, salad with egg and chorizo for lunch, and Salmon with brown rice and veg for dinner - yum :)

CosmicMouse · 23/01/2013 09:09

Thanks all.

And well done to everyone on your losses so far too! It really does work. Just need to keep the will power going!

I'm hoping for a small loss this week. Really hoping to break the 2.5st barrier this week or next. It's been the hump on the horizon since the end of November. Need to get over it!

NoWayNoHow · 23/01/2013 09:14

Some great losses again! Well done!

I'm very interested in the WW Dispatches. I'm sure it'll be really biased, but I too think that the stuff they peddle at meetings let them down. I'm assuming it'll be looking at the corporate stuff more than the meetings, although I've always been very interested on how much influence the company has on the leaders and what they're told they have to mention/sell etc...

I'm going to stick some recipes up on the other thread later if I have time - I've found that it's pretty easy to amend most recipes to be WW friendly, which I'm really please about, as I have a stock of recipes that are delicious and i love that I can still have them.

Happy Wednesday all!

bigTillyMint · 23/01/2013 09:22

Well done on all the losses! SallyBear, am Envy at half a stone in 3 weeks!

CiderwithBuda · 23/01/2013 09:32

Not sure I want to watch that programme! Don't want to be put off.

I do agree about the WW food they sell. Although the leader at the meetings I go to doesn't over sell. She is also very vocal about anything she doesn't like!

Well decided to treat myself to a glass of wine last night and ended up having far too much. So that is my week's wine allowance gone! I will track it all though. Including the cheese and crackers I had and the Celebrations and the mince pie. Ouch. Oh well. Best to get binge over now and be good for rest of week till next Tuesday.

For dinner last night we had a yummy curry cooked by DH and I had the cauliflower rice again. It is really good. Especially with a really tasty curry. DH uses lots of fresh ginger and spices. I will try and post the recipe on the other thread.

Back on track today here in snowy, slushy Somerset. Planning a housework day and keeping warm by drinking lots of green tea.

LegoAcupuncture · 23/01/2013 09:45

When is the dispatches programme on, would like to watch it. I buy the WW ready meals, ones from the chiller not the freezer section, as they are quite nice and tasty, and an asy fix for when the family has chips or mash.

Well done on the loss Sally.

NotHerRealname · 23/01/2013 10:04

Can I join please even though I am attempting to do it from home? I have always used weightwatchers to lose excess weight from time to time over the years and it certainly does the job. I am relatively new to propoints though so could use a bit of support.
I got my gold membership about 10 years ago pre kids. I am currently 8 pounds over my goal 2 kids later. I am looking at losing the 8 pounds and making this a long term plan to keep healthy. It is my first day today!

I am going to ask this forum how many points I am allowed as I can't seem to find out. I will post another thread so as not to hijack this.

onthemetro · 23/01/2013 10:08

Lego, it's on on Monday the 28th, think it's at 7.30. Just before Embarrassing Fat Bodies Grin

I wonder what WW think about it. It's bound to be a negative slant on it, because otherwise why would Dispatches bother with it? Guess we'll have to wait and see!

I read on the WW message board that someone had the C4 camera crew filming inside their meeting Shock I'd hate that!

onthemetro · 23/01/2013 10:13

Welcome, notherrealname! 8 pounds isn't bad at all, I'm sure it'll be off in no time Smile

I used an online daily allowance calculator before I joined properly (because I wanted to start ASAP but payday was still a few weeks off!), and it was exactly the same as the number I ended up being given at group.

Not sure if I'm allowed to post the link seeing as it's not a proper WW one, must be some copyright issues there Confused

AddictedtoCrunchies · 23/01/2013 11:00

Here's a line for you chillyigloo

___

Onwards and upwards from now.

SKY+ set for next Monday too. I like the WW toffee popcorn bars you get in the meetings but they have a vague taste of plastic. would much rather have two fingers of KitKat or a Curly Wurly.

Have a great day all, I'm in a fab-u-lous tracking mood today Smile Smile

SallyBear · 23/01/2013 11:07

Notherrealname - rather than worry about what your points allowance is, why not give the Filling and Healthy plan a go. There are loads of food that you can eat without pointing plus you get 49 weekly points to use on things like butter or sugar or wine etc. I think that it might be an easier solution rather than stressing about what your points allowance would be.

Bugger.

Took DD2 for a swim earlier and was having a major hunger wibble. Grabbed what looked to be a Banana & Oat bar. Only when I sat down with it, did I realise it was a Banana Oat FLAPJACK bar with butter and all sorts in :( Palmed off some onto DD (who thought all her christmas's had come at once).

Just pointed it at 6, which along with a skinny coffee made a fairly hefty snack. Poo.

Oh well. Onwards and upwards.

AddictedtoCrunchies · 23/01/2013 11:47

Cosmic did you get any APs with the swimming? Or was it splashing about rather than actual swimming? Could you go for a walk later and earn a few?

chillyigloo · 23/01/2013 12:13

crunchie thankyou for the line - very gratefully received Smile

Not sure what set me off on a munching binge, especially on weigh in night! [Hmm] I've tracked it all and just lopped it off my weeklies as i think I'd be so disappointed if I didn't have a loss next week. I figure that's the beauty of ww, and it's why it's more re-training us to eat more healthily. There will always be days that can't be planned for or predicted such as when the contents of the fridge seems to magically jump into my mouth of their own accord, or an old friend bumps into you in town and says "let's go for tea and cake"! Before, those days accumulate and before you know it, you weigh 2 stone more than you thought. With the ww way of thinking, we can account for those days retrospectively and stay on track. Yay!

Sorry for the monologue - more for myself really. Needed to convince myself that it's all working fine Smile

LegoAcupuncture · 23/01/2013 12:46

Hmm, I tried looking ahead on my planner, but it doesn't seem to be showing on there. Someone remind me on Monday that it is on please.

I'm a bit annoyed at myself today. DH had a huge fry up for breakfast, which I collected from the local sandwich shop.i was good and had scrambled egg with ryvita and also a strawberry yoghurt, all came to 8pp. Come dinner time, even though I wasn't particularly hungry, I had a WW ready meal, risotto for 12 pp, so already used 20pp for today. And I feel so stuffed. Could have actually done without dinner as wasn't hungry. Force of habit having to eat a 12pm, o idea why, I can't eat lunch any earlier, and I certainly can't have lunch after 1pm.

Probably why I'm fat, eating when I'm not hungry but doing it out of habit. Same as snacking on something nice when the DC are in bed. Last night DH and I had some popcorn, which isn't too bad, as only 3pp, but was I hungry? Not really.

But that is why we are doing this diet, to change our habits. Lesson learnt for today.

CosmicMouse · 23/01/2013 12:47

Just a splash crunchie, as DD2 is only 9mo.

Walk may not work either. But shall plan the rest of the day carefully.

SallyBear · 23/01/2013 13:36

Well I have just worked out everything that I am eating today, and depressingly have hit my 7pp a day target. Oh well, at least I can enjoy my steak tonight knowing that I'm within the plan.
What is everyone else eating today? I have had crumpets and banana for breakfast, toasted Tuna Melt sandwich for lunch and planning on sirloin steak, Jkt potato and salad for dinner.

jazzcat28 · 23/01/2013 13:56

Today my meals look like this

Breakfast - porridge and skimmed milk

Lunch - can of soup, 3 ryvita, banana, orange

Dinner will be - portion of WW spag Bol leftovers from the weekend and tagliatelle

onthemetro · 23/01/2013 14:21

Sally you've just reminded me how much I love crumpets and my sadness at this peculiar crumpet-less situation I find myself in...

Our local Tesco (quite a big one at that, not an Express/Metro) hasn't had ANY for weeks, and everytime I ask I get told 'They're not making crumpets anymore' Really?!
DP thought it was just some lazy person's excuse for not going to the back to get more for me, but we've asked about 4 different people and they've all said the same thing. Went to a Tesco Metro last week and they had about 3 different brands of crumpets. I hate that they lied to me on so many occasions! But I'm not sure about calling up Tesco and complaining that they're telling me crumpets don't exist anymore Grin

Anyway Sally & Jazzcat your days sound v.yummy!

flatmouse · 23/01/2013 14:24

Much excitement here (it sad really isn't it!) as my Eat Out Guide has arrived - weyhey! Quick glance tells me that there's not alot i can have at Giraffe without major use of weeklies - but Prezzo not too bad!

SallyBear · 23/01/2013 15:05

Flatmouse. Pizza Express is good for eating out without feeling that you're denying yourself iyswim.

MagdalenVanstone · 23/01/2013 17:09

Well, i'm feeling slighty sick here.

For lunch I had pasta with Sainsbury's Lighter Pesto and my goodness it was grim.

Just wrong.

Does anyone know a lower fat pesto that is nice even edible??

Notherrealname- you are my new hero. 8lbs over 2 kids later....wow. It is so inspiring to know that can be done.

Onthemetro 'they aren't making crumpets anymore' Grin

I was once told in Tesco 'yes, we used to do that but it kept selling out all the time so we stopped stocking it' Confused

We might have to start posting you crumpets

SallyBear · 23/01/2013 17:28

Sacla Pesto is 2pp a 15g tablespoon
Tesco Finest Fresh Pesto is 8pp per 65g serving.

I generally use the Sacla one tbh. Has anyone tried fresh wholewheat pasta yet?? Trying to drum up the enthusiasm to try it.

NoWayNoHow · 23/01/2013 17:53

Hey all.

Just a quick AP question if I may. I can't find cross training on the WW site - I'm inclined to track it as aerobics steps as that's what it feels most similar to, and it definitely feels like hard work than running. Does anyone else do cross training? How do you track it?

jazzcat28 · 23/01/2013 19:34

Epic fail this evening... Ate a whole bag of Haribo tangfastics for a much needed sugar rush to survive commute home. A whopping 15pp!!!!

Hoping a frugal 2 days ahead will balance it out ahead of Saturday weigh in
