2013 Weight Watchers over here!

The previous thread title and OP wad intended for information only, but as a few people arrived wanting a bit of mutual support, I thought a more specific thread title might be in order, esp if there's anyone else wanting to join in. I think the cashback deal on online membership expires now, anyway.

Can you introduce yourselves with a quick summary of your aims, please?

I'll be doing Weight Watchers online only. DS is nearly 10 weeks and I'm BFing, so I get 40PPs a day, plus the weeklies. I'm not sure how easily the weight will come off with that amount, but can't cut down any further yet.

I have 3 1/2 st to lose altogether. I'm currently 12st 7lb and was 10st pre-DC after previous success with WW. I'd like to go a bit further this time.

My short term goal is to be a bit slimmer for a family wedding next month. Unfortunately I'm the gat cousin and need any extra confidence I can get.

My WI is Thursday. So far, so good. I'm snacking but sticking to my PPs + weeklies. Struggling to get much exercise due to two poorly DCs, but hoping to find time for a DVD today.

Well done tanfastic - wonder if we get stars online too? I had philadelphia light (with garlic & herbs) mixed in to mushrooms and pasta last night - yum!

tanfastic · 22/01/2013 13:02

That sounds lovely Flatmouse. I entered my new weight online and it came up with a message saying "well done blah blah" so I expect you do. It wasn't a star actually it was a silver "seven" sticker on my sheet. I got a round of applause (very embarrassing as the leader seems to keep picking on me!).

CelticPromise · 22/01/2013 14:50

Hi all,

Congrats on all your losses! Not a big loss for me this week, only half a pound. I'm a little disappointed because I have been good, and still off the booze, but a loss is a loss as I have been saying to others!

This week will be tougher. I have visitors on Friday and will be ending my alcohol break. I'm already planning a fish stew for dinner, should be low if I can stay off the bread. DH and I are going out for our anniversary on Saturday to a Very Nice Place, it's a rare event and I'm buggered if I'm counting! Will try to keep the points down on weekdays and keep up the exercise.

flatmouse you do get stars online, I got one last year after I lost 7lb. Smile

Thai green veg soup sounds delicious.

CiderwithBuda · 22/01/2013 15:28

Hello all.

Congrats on all losses.

I had a blip over the weekend. By Saturday night I was in minus weeklies! Too much wine. Far too much. Then was very picky/nibbly on Sunday. But got back on track yesterday. Went to meeting today and have lost 2lbs! Very happy with that.

Tanfastic - that dish does sound yummy but a word of warning - one slice of WW bread is 1 point but 2 slices is 3 points. They are not very clear on that but our leader reminds us often and I think it comes up as 3 points if you use the online tracker.

No exercise being done here. It's just too cold and miserable. I know I should do something indoors but can't summon up the energy. I go to a place called Tonacise but it's just like toning tables. Cant really call it exercise. I try to walk there and back which is 40 mins so I do count that. Am a fair weather walker though. Need to dust off the cross trainer which is in the garage. Need to clear the garage so I can actually get to the cross trainer!

SallyBear · 22/01/2013 16:07

Buda well done! The weather is getting me down, or rather is making me hibernate! I'm hoping that I manage a pound off tomorrow as that will take me to half stone off since 2nd Jan. I am looking forward to warmer weather and some leaves and flowers out, and some exercise.

onthemetro · 22/01/2013 17:39

Ooh Sally I've never had banana bread, so I don't know what I'm missing out on Grin

Well done on the losses Celtic, Buda, Tanfastic and Outtolunch! We're doing so well as a thread, aren't we? Grin

Having turkey & spinach pasta for dinner tonight, it's from that magazine they give you in group (Your Week? My Week? Something like that Grin) - the magazine is a few weeks old but the leader very kindly gave a big bundle of them to me. It has a can of condensed chicken soup in it, and I've never cooked with soup like that before but I'm sure it'll be wonderful and much easier than making a sauce from scratch!

NoWayNoHow · 22/01/2013 17:59

Well done for some GREAT losses! Everyone on this thread is doing so well.

I have just tracked a Caffe Nero chai latte made with skimmed milk and it's come up as 6pp??? Surely that can't be right, it's just skimmed milk? Does anyone have any other info? This is the disadvantage of doing everything online!

SallyBear · 22/01/2013 18:20

Noway. I think that it's got loads of sugar in it, which is probably what you got pointed on.
I remember drinking chai in India, and used to be made from tea leaves, sugar, spices and milk boiled together.

NoWayNoHow · 22/01/2013 18:25

Thanks sally. Grr, am cross now, I didn't know there was loads of sugar. And to think I was toying between that and a peppermint tea. That's 6pp I'll never get back! not strictly true as am about to do cross trainer which will earn some of them hopefully

CelticPromise · 22/01/2013 18:37

I need a virtual slap please, I have fallen off the wagon today. In addition to my carefully planned and pointed daily menu, I have eaten most of a pack of Haribos, DS's leftover pasta, a slice of cheese and a mini crunchie. Blush I can't blame hormones either...

I am planning Zumba in the morning and a virtuous day.

bigTillyMint · 22/01/2013 19:07

metro, my friend and I used to use Campells muxhroom soup as a sauce back in the 80's when we were students - didn't know it was good for WW tooGrin

Noway, at least you know now! Though how you could want to drink a chai latte anyway... !

Am having a fairly virtuous day. So far!

SallyBear · 22/01/2013 19:17

I have managed to get today with 6 weeklies left after doing the F&H 6/7 days this week. Planning on making a chicken and rice stirfry tonight which should use up one point and then that would leave me enough for a glass of wine..... It's the small things that keep you going!Smile

CosmicMouse · 22/01/2013 19:38

Room for one more?

I'm frantically trying to get myself back on track after yoyo-ing between virtuous and a big fat pig awful for the last two months.

I've been doing WW since July 12 and have lost 33lbs so far, so I'm roughly half way to goal. I've found it very good. But constant illness in Dec, then Xmas, and a cold and skint January...I'm losing my path somewhat.

Today I have tracked everything.
Tomorrow I will track everything.
Thursday is WI. So I shall hope for the best!!

SallyBear · 22/01/2013 19:39

I've just added a Special fried rice recipe that is only 1pp on F&H if any of you are interested. here

SallyBear · 22/01/2013 19:42

Hi cosmic. 33Lbs! I am impressed. Welcome to our little thread. Smile
Please share any recipes that you may have on the recipe thread - tried and tested ideas are very welcome! We've only been going three weeks, but we all try to support each other as much as we can. Smile

LegoAcupuncture · 22/01/2013 19:44

Evening everyone, well done on the losses. A loss is a loss, better off than on, remember that.

I've been a bit greedy tonight and had two pork loin chops with my tea, and some mash. Was bloody lovely though, and the chops were grilled with very little fat. Not sure I've pointed them properly though, only 7pp?

AddictedtoCrunchies · 22/01/2013 20:54

Hi Cosmic and welcome to our merry band.

I just had a mousse type thing from Tesco which was 5pp. I love mousse and I love lemon but that was a waste of 5pp. Was all air and lemon slime Sad

So I had a curly wurly for consolation Wink All tracked though

chillyigloo · 22/01/2013 21:00

2.5 off - woo hoo! Time for a mahoosive glass of (tracked) rose to celebrate.

Grin
onthemetro · 22/01/2013 21:03

Welcome cosmic! And well done on the loss igloo Smile

Just saw an ad for a dispatches special on WW, on C4 on Monday! It's called something like 'how weight watchers makes its money' and I can totally see it trashing WW completely. That'll be interesting to see...

jazzcat28 · 22/01/2013 22:00

Hi ladies

Well with all the snow my Saturday weigh in was cancelled! The temptation to pig out was overwhelming but I stuck to it and have even factored in a meal out with a friend later this week all within my pp allowances. Fingers crossed for a huge loss this Saturday as it'll be a fortnight since I last weighed!

Have been a bit slow at keeping up with the thread this week... So generic well done for losses and a gentle nudge in the right direction to those veering off the path to slimmer beings!

Managed to put on a pair of jeans that didn't fit before Christmas this evening so hoping that's a good sign! They don't fit perfectly still have a muffin top but at least they do up!

Small things

chillyigloo · 22/01/2013 22:13

Oh Deary me.

Mahoosive glass of wine has turned into Mahoosive glass of wine x 2, 2 of my sample chocolate bars (4pp), a curly wurly (3pp) and a slice of toast (Igiveup pp) Blush

Next week - I may be reporting a weight gain!

MagdalenVanstone · 23/01/2013 07:09

chilly, today is a new day Smile you've still got six days left till weigh in...
hope you are feeling a bit better this morning.

Welcome Cosmic

Well I lost 3lbs this week, so I am beginning to trust that it will work if I stick at it.

onthemetro, thanks for telling us about the dispatches programme, i wonder if it is about the shit food they peddle at the meetings?

I have been very Confused about it as it is so at odds with their healthy eating message.

Even at my worst bingeing moments I would not have considered putting some of this stuff in my mouth.

This week at my meeting they were trying to sell these lunch snack pot things that were basically a pot noodle with weight watchers on.

Will be watching with interest.

SallyBear · 23/01/2013 07:45

I lost a pound. Phew! So I now have a silver 7 award! Yay half a stone in 21 days. Really pleased.

onthemetro · 23/01/2013 08:13

Magdalen, I think you could be right. I also think they'll probably do the whole 'it's not in their interests for you to lose weight, because then you stop giving them your money!!' thing that a lot of people say.

I've tried two of their chocolate bars that they sell in meetings and I quite like them, but I'd never touch them if I wasn't trying to lose weight and I dread to think what kind of chemicals are in them!

When I first saw the advert I thought it was going to be about all slimming clubs, but when I searched for the listing to Sky+ it I think it's all about WW so it's going to be fairly harsh I would've thought! Although Dispatches shows have been rubbish recently, did anyone see the one about the rising cost of fruit and veg last week? I thought that was crap, like they had an agenda to push even before they started looking into things...wonder if it'll be the same about WW!

onthemetro · 23/01/2013 08:14

Oops I went on a bit there Grin

Well done on the losses Magdalen and Sally! Smile And chilly you can totally bring this back, just draw a line under it and carry on Smile
