2013 Weight Watchers over here!

The previous thread title and OP wad intended for information only, but as a few people arrived wanting a bit of mutual support, I thought a more specific thread title might be in order, esp if there's anyone else wanting to join in. I think the cashback deal on online membership expires now, anyway.

Can you introduce yourselves with a quick summary of your aims, please?

I'll be doing Weight Watchers online only. DS is nearly 10 weeks and I'm BFing, so I get 40PPs a day, plus the weeklies. I'm not sure how easily the weight will come off with that amount, but can't cut down any further yet.

I have 3 1/2 st to lose altogether. I'm currently 12st 7lb and was 10st pre-DC after previous success with WW. I'd like to go a bit further this time.

My short term goal is to be a bit slimmer for a family wedding next month. Unfortunately I'm the gat cousin and need any extra confidence I can get.

My WI is Thursday. So far, so good. I'm snacking but sticking to my PPs + weeklies. Struggling to get much exercise due to two poorly DCs, but hoping to find time for a DVD today.

thanks sally. That does help.

I need my weeklies for the weekend so am going to change to a Fri or Sat weigh in. Let's see if that helps Thanks

LegoAcupuncture · 19/01/2013 20:22

Is your saturday one on a morning? Or your friday one on an evening? If you get weighed on a Friday Id still count Saturday as your first day, so new weeklies every saturday.

AddictedtoCrunchies · 19/01/2013 21:20

I'm an 'at home' member so I weigh when I choose. so I'll probably change to Saturday morning.

LegoAcupuncture · 19/01/2013 21:24

Just like me then:)

backinaminute · 20/01/2013 11:31

Hi, I'm going to my mum's for sunday lunch and wondered if anyone knows how to point gravy that isn't made with granules? I think probably 4, that's from a carvery in the eating out book. Does that sounds about right? Thanks

PseudoBadger · 20/01/2013 11:33

Weighed in this morning - after my period last week I've lost 4lbs :o Very happy, but shame I gained 3 during period week... So net loss of 1lb.

onthemetro · 20/01/2013 12:00

Well done badger! That's a great loss Grin

I made the switch from SS milk to skimmed milk today. Am only having it in tea and porridge, and I can't tell the difference. So I was spending all those points for nothing!

Got an exam tomorrow so will be spending today cramming, this is usually when my eating goes to shit and I snack on all sorts of rubbish but I'm trying to keep it under control with lots of fruit Smile

NoWayNoHow · 20/01/2013 12:10

Hi all!

The thread has so many more messages since I last checked! Will try to catch up, but in the meantime "hello!" to all the new people, and congrats to all the losers. (you know what I mean Wink )

I'm a little bit worried about my WI tomorrow morning. The slight loosening of clothes around the midriff from earlier on in the week seems to have disappeared, and I really don't look/feel any different...

This is despite the fact that I have been RELIGIOUS about my F&H days (and anything outside of it, I have tracked and taken from my weeklies), and on my other days I have tracked every single morsel that has passed my lips. I still have 11 weeklies left, and won't be using them today as I'm having a F&H day and already have it all mapped out.

If I don't lose tomorrow (which it really doesn't feel like I will), I might actually cry. This is my first week back on WW, and considering how strict I've been, I will be devastated if there's no difference, ESPECIALLY as the week before I was eating cheese and crackers by the bucket load, drinking oodles of wine, having nice meals out, eating pizza, polishing off all the left over Christmas chocolates and wolfing down the biscuits in the office.

So how can it be that nothing will have changed weight-wise when everything has changed about what I'm eating and how?????

bigTillyMint · 20/01/2013 12:13

Weighed in this morning - lost 1lb.

And a big diet fail last night - went to a party and drank and ate shedloads - at least all the extra points in one goBlush

Ah well, back on the wagon today!

ethelb · 20/01/2013 12:33

lost 0.5 lb. Not thrilled.

SallyBear · 20/01/2013 12:34

Duchy Originals fresh beef gravy is 1pp per 125g serving. Sounds good to me!!!

onthemetro · 20/01/2013 15:43

Well done tilly & ethel!

Ethel, 0.5 is still better than gaining or staying the same, right? And you did say you were worried about not being able to be as active as you'd have liked, so I know it's disappointing but I'd try and be happy that it wasn't a gain Smile

NoWay, you might lose! You don't know til tomorrow Grin

I just went to Tesco and got some canned Ambrosia rice pudding, it's 5pp for half a tin and I'm going to have some after dinner with loads of blueberries and a banana. I'm ridiculously excited. Trying to be good until then by having fruit instead of chocolate snacks, because I think I need to get into the mindset that one treat a day (in this case, the rice pudding) is something to be looked forward to, not something to eat every time I'm slightly peckish! If I can crack that and make it a routine I think I'll do much better Smile

bigTillyMint · 20/01/2013 18:12

Is anyone else having problems tracking their activity points? I am trying to track 20mins high intensity running and 20mins high intensity rowing and they are only valued as 1 point each yet 40mins of one of them os 3 points and I work just as hard on both IYSWIM! Plus 40mins brisk walking is also 3 points and that is a lot less exhaustingConfused

Livinginorganisedchaos · 20/01/2013 20:48

Tilly I agree that the pointing for activity seems a bit hard to fathom at times. I was quite disappointed that my 30 min run only seems to get 2PP.

The family was having bangers and mash tonight and I was horrified to find that 2 grilled sausages was 9PP. Everyone tucked into mash whilst I had to fill up with 0 point veg. Not sure the sausages were worth the 9PP though!

Still, another alcohol free weekend which I am very pleased with and I am sticking to my exercise regime.

Ethel A loss is a loss and no matter how small it is another step closer to goal. Keep motivated and keep tracking and you will build on it next week.

onthemetro · 20/01/2013 21:01

Livinginorganisedchaos I had a similar shock today while in Tesco, DP was eyeing up Tesco's cumberland sausages but after whipping out the PP calculator I was horrified and got the WW ones instead which are 3pp for 2. And they're not bad, I really liked them.

Well done on the alcohol free weekend! Are you trying to do it for the whole of Jan?

For dinner I had 2 WW sausages, half a jar of WW mozzarella and rocket pasta sauce (2pp), loads of broccoli and cauliflower (which some may say doesn't really go but they're my favourite!) and some spinach with 3pp of mozzarella melted into it. Sooo good, and SO filling. Grin

Feeling really motivated right now. Hope it lasts!

onthemetro · 20/01/2013 21:02

ooh, and pasta!! Forgot to mention the pasta there Grin

chillyigloo · 20/01/2013 22:46

Dear weight watchers,

Surely changing a king size duvet cover on ones own is worth 50 activity point at least! And maybe 1 point per pillow case?

Many thanks,
A chubby tired weight watcher

Grin

Just headed to bed and forgot I'd put the clean sheets on the bed but not on the bed, iyswim. Exhausted now!

SallyBear · 21/01/2013 07:46

I had a blip yesterday and ate crackling with roast pork yesterday. Hmm So I am counting points today as I have only got 8 weeklies left till Wednesday. I will don wellies and waterproofs and trudge through the snow with the kids today, hoping that will give me some activity points!

NoWayNoHow · 21/01/2013 08:04

chillyigloo I do that so often it's not even funny!

Well, monumental loss for me at WI this morning - 0.7lbs.

I know a loss is a loss, but I personally feel that it's completely pathetic given the 180C turnaround in eating since one week ago. Very, very, very, very dejected.

CelticPromise · 21/01/2013 08:21

NoWay congratulations on your loss. I know it doesn't feel like much but you are going in the right direction!

Could it be cycle related? I weigh more around my period. Also, DH finds he usually sees a loss a week 'late'- maybe you are like him and can expect a good loss next week?

NoWayNoHow · 21/01/2013 08:23

Celtic not near AF at the moment, but I am one of those lucky souls who literally puts on 4lbs in water!!

DH also made the same suggestion about loss being "delayed" - I hope so!

Otherwise, maybe F&H just isn't right for me and I need to track points. We'll see!

Good luck for any others WI today!

flatmouse · 21/01/2013 09:01

WI day today... and i lost 3.2lb again! Very happy (and i know this won't last, so i'll enjoy the first couple of weeks extra loss while i can!).

Almost lost it on Fri - drank more than intended (a whole 14 points!) ate FAR too many kettle chips (12 points) AND we had a curry - but i stuck to "dry" and believe my small lamb shashlik to have been about 14 points. However, i'd not used any weeklies before Friday and i'd had a very low points day (up til then).

Hardest for me was roast chicken dinner yesterday - no wine with dinner (or port with cheese), in fact a bowl of melon whilst all those around me scoffed cheese and biscuits.

Possibly off to see Les Mis tonight (depending on roads), and if we do intention is to eat out first. So reviewing local eateries and predetermining approx how many points it'd be! (Have ordered the eating out book, but not only do WW charge an exorbitant postage fee, but it takes 7-10 days to arrive AND you have to sign for it).

NoWay as said above, a loss is a loss (however frustrating). I haven't dared look at F & H as i know that the only way i can stay in control is if i fully track. I've had two good weeks, but past experience tells me this won't last and i'll have weeks where i'll be lucky if i loose 1lb. Keep going!

AddictedtoCrunchies · 21/01/2013 09:02

Weigh in today and I lost 1lb, so that's 4lbs in two weeks.

/\ /\ See that? That's the line I've drawn under last week. My new plan starts here and now. Have changed my wiegh in day from Monday to Friday. So I will keep within my daily points (or F&H) Monday to Friday. Then from Friday tea time until Sunday tea time I cam use my weeklies plus my activity points if I need them.

Smile
lilibet · 21/01/2013 09:03

Oh dear, dear me, I made butterscotch sauce yesterday for guests, and every time I went into the kitchen I had a spoonful Blush

So thats a tin of golden syrup, 4 oz sugar, 4oz butter and a carton of double cream.

I did refuse pudding though Grin

NoWayNoHow · 21/01/2013 09:33

flatmouse well done on your loss! DH and I did on Saturday what you're planning for tonight- dinner followed by Les Mis (TAKE TISSUES - I literally didn't stop crying from about the 3rd scene. Hugh Jackman is astounding).

On Sat, I had a 4pp breakfast and a 0pp lunch, so I used the rest of my dailies and some of my 28 left over weeklies on a beetroot and goats cheese burger (didn't eat the bun) with sides of coleslaw and onion strings and a large glass of red. Also had a tub of Ben and Jerry's Caramel Chew Chew at the cinema (9pp!!!!!!), but knowing that I'd prepared for it and saved up points for it meant I could really enjoy my one night out without having to be lame and eat a breadless chicken breast burger with side salad.

Being good during the day before going out is definitely worth it!
