2013 Weight Watchers over here!

The previous thread title and OP wad intended for information only, but as a few people arrived wanting a bit of mutual support, I thought a more specific thread title might be in order, esp if there's anyone else wanting to join in. I think the cashback deal on online membership expires now, anyway.

Can you introduce yourselves with a quick summary of your aims, please?

I'll be doing Weight Watchers online only. DS is nearly 10 weeks and I'm BFing, so I get 40PPs a day, plus the weeklies. I'm not sure how easily the weight will come off with that amount, but can't cut down any further yet.

I have 3 1/2 st to lose altogether. I'm currently 12st 7lb and was 10st pre-DC after previous success with WW. I'd like to go a bit further this time.

My short term goal is to be a bit slimmer for a family wedding next month. Unfortunately I'm the gat cousin and need any extra confidence I can get.

My WI is Thursday. So far, so good. I'm snacking but sticking to my PPs + weeklies. Struggling to get much exercise due to two poorly DCs, but hoping to find time for a DVD today.

I use the WW app chummymummy, but I haven't found any problems with it really, just that the search function is a bit rubbish but then it has been the entire time I've been using it. What happens when you use it?

I have a uni deadline on the 19th...I thought today was the 17th for some reason, so gave myself the evening off work, but then realised while reading an MN thread (Blush) that it is actually the 18th, so I panicked majorly and am working through the night. Determined to get up and go for my WW meeting tomorrow at 10 though...might take quite a lot of effort to get up!

SallyBear · 19/01/2013 08:40

I bought lean steak mince in Sainsburys the other day. Ugh! I made my own burgers for the kids, which were absolutely spot on, and with the other pack I made bolognese. Not good! The mince was stringy tasting. I think that I will go back to my preferred mince and use kitchen paper to get rid of excess fat. Taste of things is too important to give up.

But I am a great fan of dry fried eggs now. A cooked breakfast that is low fat!

CiderwithBuda · 19/01/2013 09:51

Morning all. Everyone seems to be doing so well. Nice to see the thread so busy.

Still doing ok here. Am tracking on my phone and seem to have lost that all or nothing feeling that I think contributed to my meltdown last weekend.

Frogs - sorry about your cat. Hope they can do something.

We inventoried the freezer last weekend and for the first time in ages we have properly menu planned all week and stuck to it. It has made life so much easier. And made sticking to the plan much easier too. Tonight we will be having a lamb curry. If I get to the shops I'll have cauliflower rice - I have eaten an whole cauliflower over two days! One day as rice and the next as mash.

Sallybear - your baked Camembert sounds yum. We have a Camembert in the fridge but I assumed it would be way too high in pp to have. Also have a baguette. Hmm. Lunch maybe?!

Chummymummy - no problems with the app here either. Have just used it.

chummymummy · 19/01/2013 10:26

thanx for that guys. It must be my phone then. It just closes as soon as I try to
open it. I will try to figure it out because I am a bit lost without it. Especially on the wknd when everybody wants take out. I need to prepare myself with a nice healthy alternative.

I made a chinese stirfry yesterday loaded with veggies n chicken, it was delicious. I will be on the hunt for a nice caulifower today...

LegoAcupuncture · 19/01/2013 10:28

Good morning.

It's thick with snow here. How many points do you think I've earned shovelling snow for half an hour?

Bought some dark rye ryvita, had them with extra light philly and marmite for breakfast. Delicious. Bit narked about the 1 point per ryvita though, but the are very nice.

I have 39 weeklies left, and start afresh on Monday, so do I have something nice today, or do I have a yummy pud after dinner tomorrow?

chummymummy · 19/01/2013 10:28

I know what you mean about taste Sallybear, somethings can not be sacrificed..a little bit of what you fancy and all that!

Stickwithit · 19/01/2013 10:45

Thank you all for the eating out tips. Unfortunately in the end we didn't go due to snow, do we are going out for lunch today instead.

So sorry to hear about your cat frogs, I really help that there is something that can be done to help her. I would almost certain ally reached for the junk food after news like that so I think it's brilliant that you stayed in control.

chummymummy I've been using the app without any problems. I wonder if it is worth deleting the app and the reinstalling it? The points that I record on my app also show when I log into WW online- if you have a computer maybe you could record them online that way?

sally dry fry eggs?! Is there a secret? I would have expected them to stick terribly, I use loads of oil when I fry eggs Blush!

LegoAcupuncture · 19/01/2013 10:57

I've got an amazing non stick frying pan from Kia, think it was £3. A spay of two of frylight and they cook beautifully.

SallyBear · 19/01/2013 11:49

Sainsburys had Tefal non stick pans all half price so I bought several different types. Frylight is my friend....!

onthemetro · 19/01/2013 12:04

Just got back from my first ever meeting - it was really great, everyone is very lovely and I'm really looking forward to next week! I won a prize in the raffle Grin so got some WW chocolate bars. Delicious Grin

I second the use of Frylight, it's great for frying and I don't use much oil now at all. And to think I used to slosh a load of olive oil into the pan without even measuring Shock

tanfastic · 19/01/2013 14:16

That sounds great onthemetro - everyone is really friendly at my meeting too. I think it really helps going to the meetings.

I use Frylight. Hated it at first but you do get used to it. If you've got good non stick saucepans that really helps too!

CiderwithBuda · 19/01/2013 14:42

I don't like fry light - too chemically. I did buy the WW oil spray which is good. Normal oil - one long spray is 1 point.

AddictedtoCrunchies · 19/01/2013 15:50

chummy I had the same problem with the app so I deleted and re-installed and it's ok now. Grin

I've fallen off the wagon in some style. Am trying to get myself together again but I'm having my usual "week two" slump. Angry Confused Blush

SallyBear · 19/01/2013 16:34

What has been going wrong Crunchie?

outtolunchagain · 19/01/2013 16:41

I am finding the search function pretty useless on the app but the logging bit is OK.

Can anyone tell me are the points values on the recipes on the website per recipe or per serving?

AddictedtoCrunchies · 19/01/2013 17:14

I had it all planned. Was away this weekend so had looked at restaurant menus etc and was on track. Then weekend was cancelled and we ended up with fish and chips for tea although I did a lot of walking yesterday. Biscuits today as well. I just seem to lose control and can't stop Blush
I'm embarrassed to admit it but I'm very greedy Blush
I need to get a grip of myself Sad

LegoAcupuncture · 19/01/2013 17:25

Just get the weekend over with and start afresh crunchie. Don't beat yourself up over it.

I am an over eater. If I am eating something and enjoy it, I'll usually have some more if there is any. Won't stop until I'm full sometimes Blush I need to be controlled, WW is ideal. Although the WW cranberry and pumpkin seed biscuits are lovely and have had to get DH to hide them as I could eat the whole box, but at 2pp a biscuit. Not going to happen. Gutted as I thought there was 2 biscuits per serving.

Fish and chips with mushy peas for tea tonight, homemade so smaller portion.

AddictedtoCrunchies · 19/01/2013 18:27

Thanks Lego. weigh in is Monday so hopefully I can limp through until then. Although I might change to a Friday from this week. Need to find something that works for me Smile

LegoAcupuncture · 19/01/2013 18:33

Friday might work better if you're finding the weekend hard. That way you've got your weeklies all there.

SallyBear · 19/01/2013 19:01

I had Fish and Chips last weekend as our local chippy was retiring after 25 successful years. Hmm So I used the Harvester menu as my fish and chips figuring that if I went for a large portion on Harvester that would equate (somehow) to my small portion from the chippy iyswim. That was 23pp. Does that help you at all??

I do know what you mean about snacking and over eating, but I decided that as snacking is my downfall that I WILL NOT snack. Three weeks in and it's not been too bad.

You must allow yourself a treat to look forward to, and the thing I found was to plan that treat first, track it and then work with what you have left for the rest of the day.
So for eg my Fish and chips day
B - crumpet and banana
L - BNS soup, ham & salad sandwich with mayo and spread
D - Fish & Chips.

MrsRudyRudpoo · 19/01/2013 19:19

Hi everyone! Have just this minute signed up online to weight watchers after being inspired by this thread. I have got a monthly pass, I'm logged on to the site and i'm trying to see where I can find all the pro point values for each food (i should be able to see over 30,000 apparantly!) so I can plan what to use my points for. Can anyone help please, i bet it's blindingly obvious but I can't see for looking.

SallyBear · 19/01/2013 19:34

Rudy. Do you have an iPhone? If yes you can get it as an app. Helps me enormously. The page you should be looking at is I think My Plan and the tracking tool. I think. Looking at it from an iPad is tricky as it requires good old flash player!

MrsRudyRudpoo · 19/01/2013 20:04

Thanks Sallybear, no iphone just a pc and ipad. So frustrating that ipad doesn't have flash! Will see if i can find it on pc.

LegoAcupuncture · 19/01/2013 20:08

There is an iPad app, I use it.

When you go to ProPoints tracker on the app, on the right hand side there is a magnifying glass where you can click and search foods.

Not sure you can get a list of all the foods without searching certain ones.

There is also an android app.

MrsRudyRudpoo · 19/01/2013 20:15

Fab, have found it now, thanks for your help, will hopefully be back soon with some sort of loss to report!
