2013 Weight Watchers over here!

The previous thread title and OP wad intended for information only, but as a few people arrived wanting a bit of mutual support, I thought a more specific thread title might be in order, esp if there's anyone else wanting to join in. I think the cashback deal on online membership expires now, anyway.

Can you introduce yourselves with a quick summary of your aims, please?

I'll be doing Weight Watchers online only. DS is nearly 10 weeks and I'm BFing, so I get 40PPs a day, plus the weeklies. I'm not sure how easily the weight will come off with that amount, but can't cut down any further yet.

I have 3 1/2 st to lose altogether. I'm currently 12st 7lb and was 10st pre-DC after previous success with WW. I'd like to go a bit further this time.

My short term goal is to be a bit slimmer for a family wedding next month. Unfortunately I'm the gat cousin and need any extra confidence I can get.

My WI is Thursday. So far, so good. I'm snacking but sticking to my PPs + weeklies. Struggling to get much exercise due to two poorly DCs, but hoping to find time for a DVD today.

OP posts:

I'd eat a huge meal, then avoid standing anywhere near the nibbles.

SallyBear · 18/01/2013 09:51

Thanks Vajazzler. It's a Delia recipe for pork with three mustards, I've just adapted it slightly to make it more WW friendly. Smile

AddictedtoCrunchies · 18/01/2013 12:53

I've just walked DS to mum's then walked back and I feel like I've done a ten mile run!! It's hard work walking in snow when it's over the top of your feet.

Was supposed to be on a course this weekend so have been worrying about how I'm going to get to the station later and whether the trains are running but it's been cancelled. So I'm home with the heating on and here I shall stay. Mum said she'll keep DS too so a night off.

Now about the Caramel and biscuits I ate with my tea at mum's.....

Stickwithit · 18/01/2013 14:05

Wow so many great losses, well done everyone.

I'm going out for a meal tonight for the first time since starting WW. It's with my in-laws and I think it might be sensible not to talk about WW much, DP is being really supportive, but I suspect his mum might be less so. I've a feeling they might see me as 'ungrateful' if I don't tuck into 3 courses.

My plan is to go for a main course and a pudding (I love puddings, and have been pretty restrained compared to my usual standards on the sweet stuff so far). I'm driving so alcohol won't be an issue.

The menu isn't available online unfortunately so I can't plan ahead.

Any top tips on eating out would be very gratefully received. I should say I'm not too keen on eating fish in restaurants following a nasty experience with a large fish bone a few year back.Grin

SallyBear · 18/01/2013 14:30

I really wouldn't worry about it personally. You can make sensible menu choices, just stick to stuff that isn't high fat i.e. fried. I would just start afresh tomorrow morning if nothing is too obvious on the menu tonight. If you deny yourself you will be resentful. A meal out is a treat, so as long as you're eating carefully and well throughout the week, one night off shouldn't IMO do too much damage.

onthemetro · 18/01/2013 15:05

Afternoon all! Well done to those who have lost, it's very inspiring reading about your losses Smile

I had a bit of a rubbish day yesterday, I let stress get the better of me and by about 7pm I just wanted to throw a big tantrum Grin So I ended up eating quite a few custard creams, and then DP and I went for a walk in the snow and ended up in McDonalds...d'oh! Managed to stay within points, but only just as I now have no weeklies left, but they reset tomorrow so that's ok. Feel like a bit of a fool for doing so, but at least now I know I need to work on my stress management and learn that being stressed isn't an excuse to wolf down crap food.

I did do over 12,000 steps yesterday though which was good!

Back on track today. Had a toasted muffin with a teaspoon of jam on it for breakfast, plus a camomile and spiced apple tea (just the thing for today as it's SO cold!), and am just about to have an omelette with bacon & baked beans, 11pp but I know it's super filling.

I think drinking a lot of water will be good for meals out, stickwithit - if you order water and keep sipping at it it might work to fill you up a bit. One of the 'routines' on the WW website I'm signed up to at the moment is to take a sip of water in between every mouthful, because it helps to slow down your eating. Worth a try! Grin

FrogsgoLaDiLaDiLa · 18/01/2013 15:23

Good Morning everyone and well done on the losses!

WI yesterday and I lost 2lb. Quite pleased as my meal the previous night was pizza and was feeling really bloaty! Incidentally after feeling really full recently, I woke up at 4 in the morning starving after the pizza.

My cat was diagnosed with cancer yesterday and my default reaction would usually be to open the wine and eat crap. As I'm doing the January Dryathalon and didn't have much crap in the house, the craziest I could go was some dark chocolate! Feeling rubbish about my cat but really glad I don't have to add self-loathing to the mix this morning as I always feel so cross with myself the next day (hungover!).

LegoAcupuncture · 18/01/2013 15:42

Sorry about your cat frogs.

Meant to be getting a take away tonight, what's best to have?

MagdalenVanstone · 18/01/2013 15:52

Ooh, I'm going to make that strongaoff recipe for tea tomorrow night! Thanks for the recipe.

I was supposed to be hosting a charity meeting tonight that would have meant 10 for dinner and doing three courses, so I was worried about the pp of it all but it has been snowed off as some people can't get to me.

Just going to snuggle up instead Smile

Happy weekend thoughts to everyone

MagdalenVanstone · 18/01/2013 15:53

Oops should have refreshed this page before I posted

Frogs v sorry about your cat, it sounds like you did so well yesterday.

CelticPromise · 18/01/2013 16:12

Sorry you've had bad news about your cat Frogs. Well done on reining in the urge to comfort eat! I'm not doing dryathlon but am having a couple of weeks off booze, already craving a Friday night Wine .

Off to brave the snow to get to Boxercise. Never been before but needs must when I can't go running!

I've got a bunch of recipes for the thread, will try to find time to part t them this weekend.

Happy weekend everyone!

SallyBear · 18/01/2013 16:23

Happy Friday. Sorry about your poor puss cat Frogs. I hope that the vet can treat her.
Today I am counting, so I decided to put the thing that I want to eat on the tracker first and then work around it iyswim. So tonight's dinner is baked Camembert, followed by WW recipe spag Bol. I've been quite good today, porridge with tspn of lyles (which is 0pp), poached egg, slice of ham on nimble toast for lunch and the much anticipated Camembert for dinner! I've gone 4pp over into my weeklies as I had some cake, but all in all ok! I also discovered when I switched over today to counting that my daily amount has gone down again! Bugger! 33pp a week tsk. It's obviously working then! Grin

SallyBear · 18/01/2013 16:24

33pp a day! Not a week sorry.

FrogsgoLaDiLaDiLa · 18/01/2013 17:02

Thank you everyone! Got everything crossed over here that there is something we can do! It seems it's been caught late but he just seems completely like normal and if we hadn't gone in for something else, we might never have known.

SallyBear I'm delighted to hear the camembert is getting used! Please tell us what it is like in all it's gooey deliciousness (uhoh-is that getting dangerously close to food porn???) Congrats on going down 3pp-it's def working!!!

Lego We got Thai the other day and I had a delicious beef salad. It was tricky to know exactly what to do points wise but it had simple ingredients and tasted really fresh so I used an online recipe and then added some extra olive oil as I wasn't 100% sure how it had been cooked.

lilibet · 18/01/2013 18:55

Oh frogs , I hope it's something they can help with. Do you have insurance? I have three cats and really should get some for them.

I had lemon drizzle cake at work today 8pp!! Oh dear, but it was gorgeous

I am usually a lot better at work, especially when there isn't cake about, as I can only eat the food that is in my drawer. At home its a different matter Sad

And everyone seems ot be loosing - keep this up and we will be a very thin thread Smile

onthemetro · 18/01/2013 19:41

Sorry to hear about your cat Frog, hope things get better.

My dad just called to say he'd been in a car accident last night Sad He's ok, thankfully, but his much loved car was left in a pretty bad state and he had to scrap it. He said it was because of a patch of black ice so if you're driving please be careful out there!

I have my first meeting tomorrow morning, I'm very excited! My monthly pass came just in time Smile

onthemetro · 18/01/2013 19:42

Ooh, Camembert! I bloody love Camembert Grin I bought some at Xmas but it was disgusting and I'm sure it had gone bad Sad but usually it's sooo good. I especially love it breaded. How many points was it, Sally?

SallyBear · 18/01/2013 19:49

A whole wheel was 20pp. I'm sharing it with DH. Dead easy to do. Take it out of its paper, discard the lid of the box and put the cheese back in the bottom of the box. Place in a dish. Put a teaspoon of olive oil over the top, season with salt and pepper and dried thyme. Bake in the oven for about 10-15 mins and serve with chunk of French bread. All in all about 14pp for a taste of pure indulgence.

SallyBear · 18/01/2013 19:52

Your poor dad. Awful. My friend's dog ended up crashing through the ice into the local canal this afternoon! Confused

LegoAcupuncture · 18/01/2013 19:53

I love cheese, smellier the better, but I cannot stand baked Camembert.

Onthemetro, glad your ad is ok, I hate driving in the snow.

Had char Sui chow mein for tea, as bloody lovely. Our local take away does it with thin vermicelli rather than the chunky noodles. Still within points as well.

CelticPromise · 18/01/2013 21:01

I did a cheese making course last year and we made camembert. I left mine to ripen a bit too long... We ate it on Christmas day and you could have stripped paint with it!

Livinginorganisedchaos · 18/01/2013 21:07

Frogs Hope they can get your cat better soon. Well, I had my weigh in today and I lost 3lbs! Hurray! I am noticing a difference in my clothes and it is helping me stay on track.

Which is just as well, as I had my first proper craving tonight. I was sooo tempted to say " Sod it" and crack open a bottle of wine and tuck into some crisps. I just kept reminding myself how great it felt to slip into my trousers this morning and how many of my favourite clothes are just waiting in the wardrobe for when I lose a few more pounds.

So, I stayed firm, attempted level 3 of Ripped in 30 after the kids were in bed and have just tucked into some salmon and veg. Its currently snowing outside so I am hoping we have some reasonable snow tomorrow and can take the kids out with the sledge. Bound to work up a few activity points!

chummymummy · 19/01/2013 00:25

Hi all,
just wanted to ask whether anybody uses the ww app?

I have been using mine to track and find foods and find it really useful, but it hasnt been working for the past two days. I cant figure out if the fault is with the app or my phone. Has anybody found similar problems? I have resorted to.pen n paper and am finding it very tedious...

I am sorry to hear about ur cat frogs, I wish him well.

Glad to hear your dad was ok onthemetro, driving has been really scary today!
