2013 Weight Watchers over here!

The previous thread title and OP wad intended for information only, but as a few people arrived wanting a bit of mutual support, I thought a more specific thread title might be in order, esp if there's anyone else wanting to join in. I think the cashback deal on online membership expires now, anyway.

Can you introduce yourselves with a quick summary of your aims, please?

I'll be doing Weight Watchers online only. DS is nearly 10 weeks and I'm BFing, so I get 40PPs a day, plus the weeklies. I'm not sure how easily the weight will come off with that amount, but can't cut down any further yet.

I have 3 1/2 st to lose altogether. I'm currently 12st 7lb and was 10st pre-DC after previous success with WW. I'd like to go a bit further this time.

My short term goal is to be a bit slimmer for a family wedding next month. Unfortunately I'm the gat cousin and need any extra confidence I can get.

My WI is Thursday. So far, so good. I'm snacking but sticking to my PPs + weeklies. Struggling to get much exercise due to two poorly DCs, but hoping to find time for a DVD today.

Cauli rice: grate half a head of cauliflower put in a microwave dish and cover. Microwave for 5 minutes, fluff with a fork and serve. Just like rice but with 0pp. I also sometimes fry it after its been microwaved in some spray oil with some veg for a different taste.

LegoAcupuncture · 16/01/2013 08:58

Well done Sally!

CelticPromise · 16/01/2013 09:00

< adds cauliflower to shopping list>

Great loss Sally!

SallyBear · 16/01/2013 09:01

Thank you Flatmouse. Very happy. It would be brilliant to be able to maintain this type of loss to get a stone off at a time!

Cauli rice, doesn't have rice in it at all! here

SallyBear · 16/01/2013 09:01

Thank you ladies!

chummymummy · 16/01/2013 09:23

hi everyone,

I started ww mid dec at 12st. lost 2lbs and then went back to my old way over the xmas hols. I am determined to go to my meeting today. not skiving anymore. I plan to lose 2st, but need to concentrate on my eating n tracking, find it v difficult with 4 dc, always in the kitchen mushing up food for baby, catering to fussy toddler or cooking for carb loving dcs, but I feel crap about the way I look so I have to do this. preferrably by the summer.

I am still on the lookout for the holy grail that is a good biscuit alternative to have with my tea. If such a thing exists.

good luck to everyone!

flatmouse · 16/01/2013 09:24

Wow - we so happen to have a cauliflower in the fridge - may try tonight! Gosh yes, i do struggle with how long it takes to get the weight off - and yet i can put it on in no time at all!!! I have about 3st to lose in total. But baby steps :)

NoWayNoHow · 16/01/2013 10:24

Congrats on the loss sallybear! Glad to hear F&H is working.

Welcome chummy and frogs!

Have a quick question if you ladies don't mind... DS has blood test today, so taking him to Nandos for a treat afterwards for being brave. I'm looking at the menu, the salad doesn't really fit in with F&H (too much oil, feta and olives!) - the chicken breast pitta looks like it would serve just as well if I had it with a side of ratatouille, but I had a question about pitta bread...

Do you think it would fall under the heading "calorie controlled bread" in Filling and Healthy? I think most pitta has a calorie content of about 160cals. If it's not allowed, I'll just eat the chicken inside it!

Vajazzler · 16/01/2013 10:26

Well came to WI for the first time since 19th December and I've gained 1st3Shock.
Whoops!

NoWayNoHow · 16/01/2013 10:27

Also, how bad would it be to have couscous that isn't wholewheat?

SallyBear · 16/01/2013 10:36

Nando's plain single breast in a pitta is 9pp. Mixed Salad no dressing is 0, portobello mushroom is 0, spicy rice is 5 and couscous salad is 10pp. A pitta on its own is 4pp and a tortilla wrap is 3pp

SallyBear · 16/01/2013 10:38

If its any consolation Noway, I have a Camembert in my fridge that needs eating by the weekend. I'm wrestling with myself about baking it. I will count points that day, so that I don't eat into my weeklies.

NoWayNoHow · 16/01/2013 11:03

sally that is brilliant!! So I can technically do F&H one day, but count points the next, and it will all work out in the end? There's so much I still need to learn! Online just doesn't give you this guidance (unless it's online here with you lovely people)

SallyBear · 16/01/2013 11:27

I'm looking at the F&H as my everyday eating and counting points as a day when I want to treat myself iyswim! Already dreaming about baked Camembert.....

SallyBear · 16/01/2013 11:29

Vajazzler saw you post about a gain. Don't be despondent. You're doing something about it. That's what's important.

chillyigloo · 16/01/2013 12:47

Onthemetro Last night was my weigh-in night. In the afternoon I had an asthma/pill check at the GP surgery and the nurse weighed me. I weighed 5lb heavier than at last weeks weigh in Shock and spent the next few hours debating whether to even bother going to my class.

Anyhoo, I went along all prepared to show my leader how well I'd been tracking my food and ask her why I had GAINED weight, when low and behold, I'd lost 1.5lb on their scales Grin Grin

So, chin up - all is not lost.

x

AddictedtoCrunchies · 16/01/2013 12:53

Vajazzler I echo what SallyBear says, you went ,you got weighed now you move on and lose it.

SallyBear you're my inspiration and the expert on everything F&H. I need some lunch ideas as I cannot eat another slice of bloody WW bread this week. It's so dry. I have access to a fridge and microwave at work so I wondered if i cooked up some wholemeal pasta and made a tom sauce and put some chicken in - that would all be OK on F&H??

I'm still counting but feel like I'm hanging on to my motivation by a thread mainly due to only losing 3lbs in my first week. Ithink if I'd lost more i'd be surfing on the tide of euphoria into wk2. But i'm not and I HAVE to do this, I CANNOT fail again.

Somebody give me a talking to please. Blush

Frogs if you do the Counch to 5k, your legs and bum will tone up and you'll look amazing in jeans. I know because I did it and I managed a half marathon last October. Just put your trainers on, go out the door and do it. you'll be back befor eyou know it Smile

AddictedtoCrunchies · 16/01/2013 12:54

sorry for shite typing. Blush

chillyigloo · 16/01/2013 13:03

Oooh - Aldi have loads of WW goodies in store!

SallyBear · 16/01/2013 13:15

Hi Crunchie. Nice to be an inspiration Grin
I would suggest that the whole meal pasta would not be too nice being reheated. How about buying an Uncle Bens micro brown rice and heating up your tomato and chicken. What about making a giant wholemeal couscous salad with marinated lemon and ginger chicken? Really nice hot and cold. Travels well too. Chunky homemade vegetable soup with chicken or ham in it is really good too. Fills you up, especially if you've put in pulses. Tuna nicoise salad with some Pizza Express light dressing 1pp for a tablespoon. Fill your Tupperware with leaves, tuna, peppers, spring onions, cucumber, celery, tomato, cold new potato, hard boiled egg.

SallyBear · 16/01/2013 13:22

Ignore the express rice suggestion. Just looked it up. 5pp for a bag. There must be added oil in there. Anyway you can reheat rice up successfully. I sometimes put a bag of it cooked in the freezer, for emergencies. Easy to reheat.

chillyigloo · 16/01/2013 13:23

Has anyone tried the zero points weight watchers dairy spread? I do like a bit of on my wholemeal toast and poached egg, but I always begrudge the points. They do a low fat butter too but it's still 1 point per 10g and you can bet I'd use 3 times that Blush

chillyigloo · 16/01/2013 13:25

*bit of butter

AddictedtoCrunchies · 16/01/2013 13:40

The cous cous sounds nice - is the recipe on our other thread? I've never made cous cous from scratch, I usually buy the flavoured packets. Not really much of a cook tbh. Smile although I am trying. Am going to attempt to make some soup this afternoon as I have a punnet of mushrooms and some chicken.

CelticPromise · 16/01/2013 13:45

Addicted 3lb is brilliant! It's almost a quarter of a stone!

WW isn't a quick fix, and 1-2lb per week is sustainable. If you lose it fast on a crash diet, you'll pile it back on just as quick. We're making long term changes here!

Consider yourself told off Grin
