2013 Weight Watchers over here!

INeedThatForkOff · 06/01/2013 08:54

The previous thread title and OP wad intended for information only, but as a few people arrived wanting a bit of mutual support, I thought a more specific thread title might be in order, esp if there's anyone else wanting to join in. I think the cashback deal on online membership expires now, anyway.

Can you introduce yourselves with a quick summary of your aims, please?

I'll be doing Weight Watchers online only. DS is nearly 10 weeks and I'm BFing, so I get 40PPs a day, plus the weeklies. I'm not sure how easily the weight will come off with that amount, but can't cut down any further yet.

I have 3 1/2 st to lose altogether. I'm currently 12st 7lb and was 10st pre-DC after previous success with WW. I'd like to go a bit further this time.

My short term goal is to be a bit slimmer for a family wedding next month. Unfortunately I'm the gat cousin and need any extra confidence I can get.

My WI is Thursday. So far, so good. I'm snacking but sticking to my PPs + weeklies. Struggling to get much exercise due to two poorly DCs, but hoping to find time for a DVD today.

Just had a fab 4pp lunch.

1 tortilla wrap
1 grated carrot
1 serving red pepper humous (recipe here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/big_slim_whatever_weight_loss_club/1656975-2013-Weight-Watchers-Over-Here-Recipe-Thread)

Thought I should open up a sandwich shop and sell it, it was so good!

I will be having these for dinner spinach lasagne rolls

ethelb · 13/01/2013 16:02

btw could anyone who is on 26pp per day show me their meal plans. It just seems like so little!

CelticPromise · 13/01/2013 16:30

Ethel I'm on 27. I usually save my weeklies for weekends but on a typical weekday I eat:

Breakfast fruit and yoghurt 1-2 points
lunch tin of soup 4 bread 2 and Babybel light 1 7 points
or fried egg and mushroom sandwich 7 points
or rollmops/tuna and crunchy salad

dinner veg curry depends how I've made it, but very low! with rice
or fishcake/falafel/venison burger and salad/steamed veg

more fruit and yoghurt for after

usually leaves me a few for low fat crisps/tracker bar or other snack

bigTillyMint · 13/01/2013 17:09

Ethel your hummus looks really nice - how many pps is it? I am on 26 too and am trying to save my weeklies for weekends.

Typically I have
porridge made with skim milk and a banana
apple mid morning
salad and ryvitas and lowfat soft cheese or ham or chicken, etc
soup and ryvitas and lowfat soft cheese or ham or chicken, etc
fruit

dinner - whatever with lots of veg
sugar free jelly or low fat yog or fruit for pud

ethelb · 13/01/2013 17:19

thanks for your plans @caltic and @bigTillyMint

The humous is 1pp for 50g.

SallyBear · 13/01/2013 17:25

I was reading yesterday that the Filling & Healthy Menu plans are based on 26 daily pp and 49 weeklies. It might be worth having a look at them to see if they inspire you and fill you up.
F&H meal plan

SallyBear · 13/01/2013 17:31

Ethelb your hummus sounds lovely. It's so lovely with a wrap, toasted pine nuts, peppers cucumber, leaves and spring onion. I'd need to work out how many points is in that!

membershipcard · 13/01/2013 17:57

Today is my weigh in day and I have lost....

2 pounds.

Must try harder! Not one day has been 26 pps or less

Wine is my downfall ;-(

I'm not finding it easy to do it online, although a friend has given me some booklets.

membershipcard · 13/01/2013 17:59

ethelb--- it seems so little because it is Shock

I would be happy with about 40 Wink

Livinginorganisedchaos · 13/01/2013 18:04

Ethel I also find sticking to 26 points a challenge. I have found that bananas are great with cereal or porridge for a filling breakfast. I have been trying the zero point soups or veg curry for lunch to save points for a decent dinner. I have also been swapping carbs like potatoes for veg so I can keep the points down.

I need to exercise loads so I can have a few snacks and I also could not survive without dipping into my weeklies.

Membership Wine is usually my downfall too. I have given myself the challenge not drinking alcohol this Jan partly to give my liver a break after Xmas but also to give my weight loss a good start.

AddictedtoCrunchies · 13/01/2013 18:42

Off to the cinema tonight to see Les Mis and not taking any money so I can't be tempted at the pick n mix. That's it for me now, weigh in tomorrow Hmm

ethelb · 13/01/2013 19:09

thanks for the 26pp tips. Not one of my days in the past week has been less than 26 pp either. And I can't really exercise at the moment due to foot problem (described upthread!).

The one thing I have found works better than expected is having a skinny latte with breakfast. It keeps my hunger locked up until lunch better than anything else. Though at the weekend an eggy breakfast feels like a treat and means I'm not looking for munchies before lunch.

@membership I think maintenance is about 40pp for my weight goal (8stone 7lbs, I am 9stone 3lbs right now). So maybe try to think that eventually you will get 40pp!

I've filled my freezer with homemade weight watchers meals so I'm off to explore this website! www.slenderkitchen.com/

CelticPromise · 13/01/2013 19:27

membership 2lb is great! Well done!

membershipcard · 13/01/2013 19:28

I have just looked at slender kitchen website and it looks really good.

I liked the look of quiche cupcakes but the quantities for the recipe are in US cups Hmm

Will gogle conversions now Smile

membershipcard · 13/01/2013 19:29

Thank you Celtic Promise

NoWayNoHow · 13/01/2013 19:54

Right, after some false starts due to DH b-day meal and friends over for dinner, tomorrow I start in earnest.

Will WI, let you know the damage (so I can't hide any more from the fact that I've probably gained 1.5st from when I was at my goal weight 18mths ago), and I've ordered a shop online so that I can do the 7 day Filling and Healthy meal plan.

Will also actually read through the whole thread - really interested in seeing everyone's individual journeys.

Hope you've all had lovely weekends!

franch · 13/01/2013 20:30

Hi all, haven't read the whole thread yet but am thinking of joining you ... I have about a stone to lose ... Have tried most things over the years so am hoping this might be The Answer ...

I'll be back. Sending good vibes to you all ...

didireallysaythat · 13/01/2013 21:39

I went for a run (OK, more of a shuffle and a walk - I think I'm kidding myself I can do week 4 when I did week 6 months ago), my starving 6 year old is helping by having food from my plate, I've made a dull looking bns soup for lunch tomorrow and I just chopped up 2 papaya, 2 mangoes and 3 kiwi for lunchtime desserts this week. I'm feeling quite righteous.

Here's hoping wi is good for everyone who hits the scales tomorrow.

onthemetro · 13/01/2013 21:44

Well done for getting out there for a run, didireally! I did the first week of C25K back in April, then moved house and have only managed a half arsed attempt on the treadmill at the gym since Blush. It's something I would really love to be able to do, but I'm not interested in putting in the work - I just want to be able to go out there and be able to run a 5k straight off Grin

Only just ate dinner Shock so not sure if I'll have my planned bar of Dairy Milk, which will leave me 6 points under. Hmm...

dobby2001 · 13/01/2013 23:51

OMG, I have just been taken away for a surpise birthday weekend - my actual birthday is tomorrow so I suspect there is more to come - I am so stuffed I am scared to think what I will weigh tomorrow!!Shock

It was a lovely weekend but totally revolved around me being taken to nice places for meals, or cocktails! I have to say though, although I am so full, I actually havnt eaten since lunchtime as I am still feeling like a barrel. I know, pre WW days, at 7ish, I would have happily had some dinner if somebody had made some Blush. So all those talks on gaining control and the enjoyment of fitting into smaller clothes DOES make a differance! It was a lovely weekend, but I am going to be right back on track come the morning - was actually hoping for a loss this week, before the surprise Grin
DH has made himself a snack, but nothing appeals to me at all - well apart from a stomach pump! It was not huge portions, but haute cuisine, so everything covered in butter or cream, and lots of "special treats for the birthday girl" Hmm

To be honest, the way I feel now, I cant imagine eating for a week lol!

AddictedtoCrunchies · 14/01/2013 06:52

Week one weigh in and I've lost 3lbs. Would have been more but I ate at MILs last night and that's always my downfall Sad

Never mind,3 is good so onwards and upwards.

bigTillyMint · 14/01/2013 06:56

Weighed in this morning and I've lost 2lbs, rather than the 3 when I weighed myself yesterdayConfused Still, a loss is a loss!

Dobby, how lovely to be taken away for a surprise weekendEnvy Hope it hasn't wrecked your plan!

flatmouse · 14/01/2013 08:46

Well done all the weight losses :) I had weigh-in this morning - scales said i'd lost 2.5lbs but WW rounded my weight up to the nearest lb so said i only lost 2. A little disappointed as (per someone further up the thread), you expect to lose more the first week - also i hadn't used half my weeklies or any of my 29 activity points i'd stored up.
Never mind! A loss is a loss and i'm going in the right direction. And for the last couple of days i've felt that my stomach has decreased in size!! Having said that, (TMI ALERT) my stomach is struggling to cope with the shock of excess veg to my system on sat night and sun night dinners!
Wine is my downfall too, but i managed to keep it to just Sat and Sun this week (instead of Fri also). Sat came out of weeklies, and half of Sun came out of weeklies. I daren't do it by glass as no way do we get 6 glasses out of a bottle - so i just measure it on half a bottle!

Tuna pasta bake for tea tonight.

NoWayNoHow · 14/01/2013 09:22

Congrats Addicted, BTM (hello again! I remember you from a WW thread a couple of years ago!), and flatmouse on your losses.

WI for the first time today to get me starting weight, and I do indeed have 1st3lbs to lose to get to goal. Have started the day with a crumpet, Lurpak Lightest and Marmite (4pp), chickpea and carrot salad for lunch (7pp) and the Filling and Healthy recipe for pork loin with mustard sauce and mash ( which I make out to be 10pp using 200g as a portion for potatoes rather than 100g).

Good luck to anyone else WI today - I am going to read the whole thread at lunch time at work (they still haven't cottoned on to banning MN!)

MathsDebater · 14/01/2013 09:24

Well done losers!

Just hopped on the scale and have lost 1.5lbs- I'm on week 2.
I'm really happy with this as I did eat ALL of my 49 extra, I'm going to run a little experiment and only use a few this week and see what the weight loss difference is for week 3. If it's not masses then I won't feel guilty if I do use them.

DD was sick last night so I stayed up with her, I didn't use all of my dailies as I saved the last 6 for a Cornetto so perhaps I would of weighed more if she wasn't sick and I ate it... Hmm
