2013 Weight Watchers over here!

The previous thread title and OP wad intended for information only, but as a few people arrived wanting a bit of mutual support, I thought a more specific thread title might be in order, esp if there's anyone else wanting to join in. I think the cashback deal on online membership expires now, anyway.

Can you introduce yourselves with a quick summary of your aims, please?

I'll be doing Weight Watchers online only. DS is nearly 10 weeks and I'm BFing, so I get 40PPs a day, plus the weeklies. I'm not sure how easily the weight will come off with that amount, but can't cut down any further yet.

I have 3 1/2 st to lose altogether. I'm currently 12st 7lb and was 10st pre-DC after previous success with WW. I'd like to go a bit further this time.

My short term goal is to be a bit slimmer for a family wedding next month. Unfortunately I'm the gat cousin and need any extra confidence I can get.

My WI is Thursday. So far, so good. I'm snacking but sticking to my PPs + weeklies. Struggling to get much exercise due to two poorly DCs, but hoping to find time for a DVD today.

Just realised that I'm going to be on holiday at the end of the month so won't be able to go to my usual meeting. I can go to one while I'm there (because I'm only visiting my mum, down south!) but can you do that? And if so, do I just show up?

AddictedtoCrunchies · 12/01/2013 17:52

Yes you can go to any meeting. just take your card thing.

I'm in a quandary. I sort of fancy a cider. It would be 7 pp which I have but I don't know if I want to spend that much on a drink. Oh how I've changed Grin

SallyBear · 12/01/2013 18:01

Glass of white wine is 3pp

SallyBear · 12/01/2013 18:07

Fish and chip supper. Managed to not use all my dailies, and couldn't finish my dinner! It was lovely, but back to the Filling & Healthy for me tomorrow!

AddictedtoCrunchies · 12/01/2013 18:29

Great minds Sallybear. Had a mini bottle of rose wine in the fridge so having that instead. It's actually 4 as 187ml. It takes me to 39 for the day which is my usual 33 plus 6 activity points. And I STILL have 32 weeklies for tomorrow Shock . Am going to earn a few more points in the morning too so may treat myself when I go to the cinema tomorrow. I'm buzzing for Monday's weigh in Grin

PseudoBadger · 12/01/2013 18:29

WI tomorrow morning, have to dip into activity points for some lager with dinner tonight (it's been a tough week and I've got my first period since my mc so feeling hormonal...)

CelticPromise · 12/01/2013 18:45

Evening all. I'm with you Addicted I'm actually enjoying the challenge! Driving DH mad though because he's taking a more ' relaxed' approach. Smile
I'm craving wine though and am trying to have a couple of weeks off booze.

Stayed within points yesterday despite cinema sweets and still have all my weeklies and activity points left. Off to carb load for sports tomorrow!

tanfastic · 12/01/2013 19:13

Love this thread Smile
Have gone into my overdraft today as I treated myself to two poached eggs on toast for breakfast and had a slice of bakewell tart too. Earned two (I think) activity points for a 40 minute walk today too.

Having a Chinese tomorrow with my remaining weeklies.

Can't remember who said it but I had. Swartz creamy pepper sauce this week and the whole packet mix is 2 points and you add milk on top.

SallyBear · 12/01/2013 20:02

Tan a 40 minute rambling walk will earn you 4 activity points!

Schooldidi · 12/01/2013 20:34

Pseudo I'm sorry you are feeling hormonal, it's really shit trying to get over a mc. I get very hormonal and emotional every time I get a period since I had my mc and it's been 9 months now :(

I wi tomorrow morning too. I'm feeling good about it I think.

Livinginorganisedchaos · 12/01/2013 21:07

I totally agree that the best thing about WW is that it resets your appetite to what is reasonable. In my opinion, that is why is it so successful and the fact that no foods are banned, means you are much less likely to go mad when you stop the diet.

I tried the whole Dukan / no carb thing last year and whilst I did lose lots of weight initally, I started to crave certain foods and the weight just went straight back on as soon as I started eating carbs again.

I had a lovely dinner of roasted salmon with vine tomatoes and broccoli. I got back into exercise today with my JM exercise DVD and had enough points for some chocolate. Result!

My best buys this week have been the WW bagels (currently on sale in Aldi) and an Innocent Sweet Chilli Veg Pot which is currently reduced in Tesco and only 6PP.

poorpaws · 13/01/2013 00:44

Thought id just mention that there were 29 people at our ww group on Friday. There are usuallyt 12. I just wonder how many people will be there by the end of February.

I lost two and a half pounds so Im delighted but then Ive ruined it all tonight by the binge from hell! Love Friday night wi cos a weekend binge can be rectified during the following week (if Im good).

PseudoBadger · 13/01/2013 08:34

Oh god, I've been so diligent with pointing all week, just nipped into activity points last night - and today I've put on 3lbs Shock
Please someone tell me this is hormonal/period related?! I ate less than last week when I lost over 2lbs.

Vajazzler · 13/01/2013 08:37

Morning everyone

I had a lovely dinner last night- Grilled chicken breast (5pp) in a warburtons sandwich thin 'bun'(3pp) with lettuce and 15g xlmayo (0pp) with a side salad and 3pp of xl salad cream 11pp all together and it was Yummy!

Find weekends the hardest as everyones at home but still on track.

Got a lovely roast to look forward to tonight. I swap roast spuds for mashed swede to save plenty of pp.

Pseudo I am always heavier in my period week. Stick at it and I bet you'll see a big loss next week.

I've saved nearly all my weeklies for today, just about to start the day with a huge bowl of porridge and a couple of bananas as I'm playing rugby later. Got a chicken out of the freezer and am planning to poach it so we're not tempted to eat the skin! Should have enough left for a small cheese binge Smile

Have a good day everyone.

Schooldidi · 13/01/2013 09:04

Pseudo yes it will be period related. I can put on up to 4lbs in my period week because of bloating etc. You'll get a bigger loss next week, don't let this week mess with your head.

I weighed this morning and have lost 3.5lbs, which makes 4.5lbs in total. Just another 3 stone to go til I get to target.

bigTillyMint · 13/01/2013 10:24

Phew, just caught up on the thread!

jazzcat, I have one of those books, but it is a couple of years old (when the propoints first came out) - I wonder if the points are still the same for the same foods?

Totally agree about periods and bloating. I had a sneaky pre-weigh-in this morning and appear to have lost 3lbs, but I think some of that is sadly due to my period! Hopefully I won't have gained any back when I weigh in properly tomorrow!

SallyBear · 13/01/2013 10:35

I keep reading all this stuff that says shivering keeps the weight off as your body works more efficiently. Who are they kidding? I'm freezing this morning!!!

So I counted points yesterday, used 32 of my 34. Sat there and thought about my extra two points and thought I really didn't need them yesterday. The fish and chips nearly finished me off, and I'd ordered a small portion. Blush So back on the F&H plan today. Doing gammon for lunch, and then I will do other meals with the leftover meat this week. Makes great stock for soup!!

onthemetro · 13/01/2013 11:58

Thank you so much for going to the effort to write that out, jazzcat! Smile Will definitely be buying that when I finally go to a meeting.

Also agree about periods, I can gain horrifically when I have one Sad Just don't let it knock you off track because its likely that its literally just because of your period and you'll be pleasantly surprised when its over Smile

SallyBear · 13/01/2013 12:15

I'm currently soaking my soup mix for my gammon and winter vegetable soup tomorrow. It is a thing of beauty I can promise you!

jazzcat28 · 13/01/2013 12:16

No problem metro

I was talking to a fellow meeting member about our motivations for losing weight. For her it was that she didn't have any clothes that fitted her. I fibbed about mine as for me it's because I want to lose at least 2 stone before TTC.

I fibbed because when I mentioned this to another friend she thought I was barmy and that if I'm going to be pg soon I might as well remain as I am and then join once baby arrives.

Am I nuts? My simplistic logic says that if I can lose weight now, I know that I'll be healther for TTC and during pregnancy, and also I will have proven to myself that I CAN do it so should be able to motivate myself post-pregnancy

Had banana pancakes and honey this morning for breakfast... yummy and treaty but at 10pp I most definitely need the Vajazzle soup for lunch!

onthemetro · 13/01/2013 13:53

No, I don't think you're nuts at all jazzcat - it's well known that the lower your BMI (well, within the healthy area), the better for you and baby. And I think it means that your body is more likely to recover better too, i.e. to get back to pre-baby weight. I could be talking out of my arse though but it makes sense to me Grin

TTC is one of the reasons I want to lose weight too, though I don't think we'll be TTC for a few years yet. I feel like I already feel sluggish and awful as it is, I can't imagine how awful I'd feel at 8 months pregnant with added baby weight on top of this weight!

I'm treating myself to a Dairy Milk multipack bar today - 6pp (they're the 39g ones), I'm so looking forward to it. I'm sacrificing my roast dinner's potatoes to do that though, don't really want to go into weeklies and I'm not all that fussed about potatoes anyway so it's all good.

Gammon and winter vegetable soup sounds amazing. I really need to start making soup Grin

Schooldidi · 13/01/2013 14:11

jazz it sounds really sensible to lose some weight before ttc. You could always ttc at the same time as losing weight seeing as you never know how long it's going to take. I did that when I was ttc dd2 and it took about 2 stone for me to fall pg, I'm not sure that losing weight was the main factor in falling pg but it definitely seemed to help.

MathsDebater · 13/01/2013 15:49

Just caught up!

Thought I'd pop in and say hello, I was at my parent's house this weekend which is usually a free for all, food wise, but I stuck to my daily points like a pro. I even resisted wine and tapas!

I've got my weigh in tomorrow but it's my TOM right now which might affect it.

A few of my essentials lately are-

0% fat yoghurt- 1pp per 100gs, I have with lots of fruit for a 1 point breakfast.
Pink n' Whites marshmallow wafer things- 1pp
options white hot chocolate- 1pp
Turkey mince- I hardly even realise it's not beef/lamb and it's half the points.

Aldi are stocking WW produce this week too Grin

well done with all of your losses :)
