2013 Weight Watchers over here!

The previous thread title and OP wad intended for information only, but as a few people arrived wanting a bit of mutual support, I thought a more specific thread title might be in order, esp if there's anyone else wanting to join in. I think the cashback deal on online membership expires now, anyway.

Can you introduce yourselves with a quick summary of your aims, please?

I'll be doing Weight Watchers online only. DS is nearly 10 weeks and I'm BFing, so I get 40PPs a day, plus the weeklies. I'm not sure how easily the weight will come off with that amount, but can't cut down any further yet.

I have 3 1/2 st to lose altogether. I'm currently 12st 7lb and was 10st pre-DC after previous success with WW. I'd like to go a bit further this time.

My short term goal is to be a bit slimmer for a family wedding next month. Unfortunately I'm the gat cousin and need any extra confidence I can get.

My WI is Thursday. So far, so good. I'm snacking but sticking to my PPs + weeklies. Struggling to get much exercise due to two poorly DCs, but hoping to find time for a DVD today.

Tanfantastic. WW give you 49 points on top of the daily points to use over the week. It's up to you how you use those 49 points.
He sounds like he's finding the non smoking hard work. You are probably both super sensitive at the moment.

tanfastic · 11/01/2013 21:28

Thanks guys, yep you are right, he's wrong, just needed to hear it. He's run out of his electronic cigarette stuff today so climbing the walls and I got the brunt of it. He was going on and on about it though and I was getting more and more irritated. Feel a fuck off Chinese banquet coming on now fuck him Wink

tanfastic · 11/01/2013 21:29

Well maybe a teeny chicken chow mein and chips..

Well done ladies on your weight loss so far.

onthemetro · 11/01/2013 23:03

Hm, just wrote a post here but it seems to have disappeared, wonder where that went to?! Hope I didn't accidentally post in a different thread Grin

INeedThatForkOff · 11/01/2013 23:04

Well done losers Smile I've decided to be happy with a 1lb loss per week for now.

Guiness and lentil soup of is then

SallyBear · 11/01/2013 23:10

I developed quite a liking for Guinness after I had my twins!

tanfastic · 12/01/2013 08:19

A loss is a loss, a pound is really quite a lot of weight if you weighed out that amount in spuds. That's the way id look at it Smile

Is anyone enjoying the plan so far? I can actually hand on heart say that i've not found it hard (apart from the first day when I craved food like mad). I've actually lost my appetite a bit which is helping and not craving food like I was a few days' ago. I am enjoying getting control back over what I was putting in my mouth and it's amazing how much food is still in my fridge after last week's shop. I hope I continue to be this motivated and I really hope it works!

INeedThatForkOff · 12/01/2013 08:58

I'm not going hungry with the extra PPs and as you say, it's nice to be in control. I love exercising bit am struggling to find time.

Well I am breaking with the plan tonight. This will no doubt sound very silly, but..... Our local chip shop is an award winning one. The owners are retiring next Friday night and shutting up shop. We've lived here for nearly 20 years, and have always got our fish and chip suppers from there. So this will be our farewell fish supper tonight. Told you it was silly. Blush

onthemetro · 12/01/2013 10:33

That isn't silly at all, Sally! I would do the same, it's like a special occasion isn't it? I wish we had a good chip shop near us, although on second thoughts that wouldn't be good for my weight Grin

I just signed up to WW monthly pass online, so am now a proper member, hurrah! First meeting isn't til next Saturday but I wanted to take advantage of the app and all the online tools Smile I love the app, makes things so easy.

I've been having one more point than I should be having, oops. But that's not too bad and now I can set myself straight! And start using activity points. Yay Grin

MagdalenVanstone · 12/01/2013 10:36

Morning everyone,

Tan, when my DH gave up smoking he went cold turkey and literally stopped speaking for 10 days. He said his head was so angry and resentful that he was worried he'd say things that weren't OK so stayed silent instead.

(My DH is very gentle and kind so for him to find they did that to him makes me think no-one would react well.). Ignore him, he'll become sane again at some point Smile

I agree that it is nice to feel in control and this week I have felt that on the plan.

My only niggle is that I'm a bit worried I'm eating quite rubbishy things as treats as they are low points. Does anyone else worry about this?

Eg this week i've had a sugar free jelly and a ww brownie thing, both full of chemical stuff on the ingredients list and I wouldn't go near them normally.

I was also tempted to buy some snack a jacks yesterday but read the back of that and I didn't know what half the stuff in there was.

I'm wondering if its better to have little bits like this and keep to plan than try and avoid them and risk feeling deprived?

Its not like i can have a bit of stilton or a quince tart as a small treat when i've got 2pp left iyswim.

Does anyone else worry about this?

Sally hope the fish and chips were lovely.

jazzcat28 · 12/01/2013 10:59

Well I have shed 4.5lb this week, very chuffed with myself Smile

About to sit and meal plan the week ahead before doing the food shop. Vajazzle soup already on the menu for lunch tomorrow!

SallyBear · 12/01/2013 11:13

Well done one and all! I am counting points today, I factored in the fish and chips using Harvester restaurant food iyswim and I will have a small portion for 23pp. So I've worked out exactly what I am having including some Xmas cake which I've not touched since NYD! So all good here hopefully, and I won't eat into my weeklies hopefully. Smile

assumpta · 12/01/2013 11:27

Hello, can anyone clarify how many calories there are in Schwartz creamy pepper sauce, it says on the 25g pack that there is 86 cals per pack and gives the method using a half pint of milk, I presume that this calorie count is only for the powdered mix and I add my milk calories separately. Is this right?

SallyBear · 12/01/2013 11:36

I would assume that the calorie content is just for the dried ingredients. If its got powdered milk in it, why are you adding more milk? Would water not do? Sorry I've not used that sauce before.

assumpta · 12/01/2013 11:40

Thanks Sally, I thought that. Yes it has powdered milk in it, but I think it may be a stretch too far to make it with water. I will just use skimmed milk, and factor in the calories.

backinaminute · 12/01/2013 14:13

Thank you for all the tips. I love this thread, I keep checking it and it's keeping me on track. I have found it much more useful than the meeting.

Forks - have you found your milk has improved today? I will be aiming for a pound a week too. I'm worried about messing with my milk too, Ds is only 6 weeks old so I'm being quite careful and making sure that I eat all my points. Although I'm trying not to dip into my weeklies, I will though if the need arises (like an emergency take away!).

I thought I would share my exciting new weight watchers finds.

Firstly Tesco Thai Green curry paste is 0pp and also wafer thin chicken. It's 1pp for 30g (meaning you can have lots in a sandwich). Also I had a weight watchers bagel for lunch at 4pp and it was lovely. Also Tesco Salt and Vinegar Wholemeal Rice Cakes are 2pp for 3 and give you the 'crisp hit' but are more filling.

I'm on my phone so can't check who said it but I know what you mean about eating more processed foods but I'm thinking that once I really get into it I will be able to do more from scratch but be more creative to make them less in points. To be honest though, with a 6 week old baby and a 21 month toddler, survival is good enough for me at the moment (without turning into the size of an even bigger house, eating out of tiredness).

onthemetro · 12/01/2013 15:13

Backinaminute, I love the WW bagels, am really looking forward to having one soon with grilled pepper Philadelphia & cucumber. It's all feeling quite strange to me, because on Slimming World it was so difficult to have bread, and certainly couldn't really have bagels/wraps/rolls too often. I know there's a lot to be said for bread and it's negative effects, but I miss it and its nice to be able to have it!

Just back from a 2 hour walk into town, app says it earns me 7 activity points which is great! I had a skinny vanilla spiced latte from Starbucks which was 6pp, not bad for something so indulgent

onthemetro · 12/01/2013 15:13

Well done on your loss jazzcat!

AddictedtoCrunchies · 12/01/2013 16:30

Well I've just done my usual Saturday of exercise and I can't believe how much better I felt compared to last week! Weigh in isn't until Monday but I felt fitter and lighter on my feet plus my trousers didn't feel as tight. I'm so chuffed. Wink

I've planned next week's menus and one of us is going shopping tonight to stock up.

I'm on my phone so don't know who it was, but I agree that I'm actually enjoying this. I'm treating it like a challenge to keep within my points and feeling very smug when I turn down choc.

I'm going to try making a bns, sweet potato and ham soup this week. I'll post the recipe if it tastes ok. Grin

Well done us Thanks Thanks Wine Wine

jazzcat28 · 12/01/2013 16:33

Thanks Smile

I bought the Eating Out book at my meeting this morning - am Shock at some of the points for certain places! Now I know where I've been going wrong all these years

So if anyone is planning a meal out/takeaway let me know (with enough warning as I don't check this every day) and I'll look it up for you

Am horrified to discover just one measly slice of a large Hawaiian dominos pizza is 5pp!

onthemetro · 12/01/2013 16:46

Ooh, I think I'd like to buy that, how much was it? What kind of places are in it? Think it'd be very handy to have if it's a comprehensive guide Smile

ethelb · 12/01/2013 16:58

I lost 1lb. Woot!

ethelb · 12/01/2013 16:59

@jazzcat I am going for dim sum this evening, what's low pp?

onthemetro · 12/01/2013 17:04

Yay, well done Ethel!
