2013 Weight Watchers over here!

The previous thread title and OP wad intended for information only, but as a few people arrived wanting a bit of mutual support, I thought a more specific thread title might be in order, esp if there's anyone else wanting to join in. I think the cashback deal on online membership expires now, anyway.

Can you introduce yourselves with a quick summary of your aims, please?

I'll be doing Weight Watchers online only. DS is nearly 10 weeks and I'm BFing, so I get 40PPs a day, plus the weeklies. I'm not sure how easily the weight will come off with that amount, but can't cut down any further yet.

I have 3 1/2 st to lose altogether. I'm currently 12st 7lb and was 10st pre-DC after previous success with WW. I'd like to go a bit further this time.

My short term goal is to be a bit slimmer for a family wedding next month. Unfortunately I'm the gat cousin and need any extra confidence I can get.

My WI is Thursday. So far, so good. I'm snacking but sticking to my PPs + weeklies. Struggling to get much exercise due to two poorly DCs, but hoping to find time for a DVD today.

Crunchie It took me a few minutes to work out what BNS stood for! Roasted Butternut Squash & Harissa Soup!
I think that I find the F&H works well for me as I know that I have only got 7 points to use on avg per day. Therefore I try to ignore the lure of chocolate, or go and do some exercise to earn that bar of Dairy Milk etc.
I think that maybe the thing to do with recipe sharing, is to set up a WW recipe thread. When you've made something you're pleased with post a link here to the recipe thread. Easier for all of us to access rather than scrolling through hundreds of posts. Thoughts??

onthemetro · 11/01/2013 16:21

Oh and definitely agree on Flatmouse soup Grin

SallyBear · 11/01/2013 16:22

Bootcamp have a recipe thread. So I think we should too!

onthemetro · 11/01/2013 16:23

Ooh, yes to the recipe thread too

SallyBear · 11/01/2013 16:44

onthemetro · 11/01/2013 17:33

SallyBear · 11/01/2013 17:40

Hello all. Another reasonable points day and a bit of cycling, but am about to eat an early dinner and then go to the cinema to blow some weeklies on sweets. Smile

Have a good evening everyone.

NoWayNoHow · 11/01/2013 18:06

Have posted a recipe on the other thread http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/big_slim_whatever_weight_loss_club/1656975-2013-Weight-Watchers-Over-Here-Recipe-Thread?msgid=36537060#36537060 - have loads of others that I'll get to.

I, too, only get on mildly well with the WW specific recipes. I have a lot more fun (and enjoy what I eat a lot more) when I adapt existing recipes to be more PP friendly.

Feel like my attempts to get on track are being thwarted at every step!

Was out for DH's b-day last night, and it was the type of fancy restaurant that didn't really do cooking with light spray, but rather everything getting basted on the hob in tonnes of butter. We've also got people over for dinner tomorrow night and I'm making chicken legs and chorizo with peppers and shallots with ciabatta and salad as I figure that's at least a half way point between inflicting my healthy eating on unsuspecting (hungry) guests and then going the opposite way and totally overindulging.

Anyone got any bright ideas for a light-ish pudding that will still make people feel like I've made an effort? My only fail-safe dessert is a crumble with A LOT of toffee and double cream, and I don't want to do that!

NoWayNoHow · 11/01/2013 18:23

Sorry, link didn't work - trying again!

onthemetro · 11/01/2013 18:45

Just spent a while looking at old pictures of myself from about 3/4 years ago, before I gained all this weight. I used to think I was so fat, that makes me feel so sad because I actually looked pretty slim! Ah, the benefit of hindsight... Anyway, I'm now feeling pretty determined to get back to that, so if anyone is struggling I suggest looking at pictures from when you looked your best!

Vajazzler · 11/01/2013 18:47

NoWay- how about individual eton mess's for pudding? You could make them in wine/cocktail glasses, crushed meringue, whipped cream and raspberries in layers. You could use WW cream for yours? And meringue nests only 1pp each.

AddictedtoCrunchies · 11/01/2013 18:50

onthemetro I've printed your post off and will read when I'm struggling.

as far as pics go, the best are of me when I lived abroad before DH and DS. That great body was obtained by a lot of rum and coke and 40 fags a day. Grin Not something I can repeat but I'm determined to feel that slim again.

Vajazzler · 11/01/2013 18:51

Givemeaclue- i've copied and pasted it for you

My tomato and mushroom soup is chunky as i prefer it that way but you could whizz is smooth if you prefer. My recipe makes a massive pot so if you dont have a big one then you'll need to scale it down but this makes about 8 big bowls

Chop 2 onions and a couple of chilli's if you like it with a kick. Fry in frylight in the bottom of a big pan

Chop a family pack of mushrooms and fry with the onions

hen they've started to brown add 3 tins chopped tomatoes, 1 pint of stock (1oxo =0pp) and a carton of passata

Bring to the boil and simmer for 20 mins

Vajazzler · 11/01/2013 18:53

I hope everyone is having a good day, i'm absolutely knackered after the epic school runs this week, but am still on plan x

SallyBear · 11/01/2013 19:06

Decided to cook special frylight rice. Kids woofed theirs down, I'm eating mine later when they're in bed, and its brown rice so not their rice of choice Grin

Stickwithit · 11/01/2013 19:25

I started we today for the first time. So much to get to grips with Grin.

I've a quick question that I'm hoping someone might help with: I'm using the ww app and have managed to track my daily points so far today. But I can't see where I enter points to come off my weekly 49 point allowance? Help!!

SallyBear · 11/01/2013 19:33

Hi stick. If you've used all your dailies - say you get 33pp and you want a glass of wine at 3pp, the 3pp will come off your weeklies. So put in glass of wine and then it will deduct it for you.

Stickwithit · 11/01/2013 19:37

Oh, thank you, still a bit confused- I'm being thick!! So I have to use my daily total of points first, before I can use some of my weekly points?

INeedThatForkOff · 11/01/2013 19:52

I'm having a blowout today (tracking my weeklies though). Struggling with my milk supply and DS isn't happy.

OP posts:
SallyBear · 11/01/2013 19:56

Pint of Guinness. That should put you right and increase your supply! Thats what my DM and DA were told by their midwives. Smile

SallyBear · 11/01/2013 19:58

Yes stick. Look at the weeklies as a safety net or save them up for the weekend once you've got the plan under control. I was always told to use up everything.

tanfastic · 11/01/2013 20:47

Evening all Smile just want to vent a little bit if that's ok.
Not had my first weigh in yet, that's on Tuesday but dh reckons I won't lose weight if I eat into my extra 49 points over the weekend, he doesn't understand how you can possibly lose weight if you are treating yourself to a takeaway or cheating as he calls it. Actually he's fucked me right off tonight with his apparent wisdom over losing weight. I've stuck to my 26 points religiously all week and now I feel like I can't reward myself just in case I don't lose weight. He is in his third week of giving up smoking and said "well I can't just treat myself to a cigarette at the weekend can I!?" what a turd Hmm

Livinginorganisedchaos · 11/01/2013 20:56

Evening everyone. Weighed in tonight and have lost 2lb. I was a bit disappointed initially if I am honest as I know from previous experience that the first week is when I lose the most weight and then it settles down to a steady 1 to 2lb a week. So, given I have been keeping to my points and only used a few weeklies, I was hoping for a slightly bigger loss.

However, I have now persuaded myself that any loss is a positive step in the right direction and it has been a hard week. I have had my period and the last few days I have not been able to exercise as have had a chest infection.

So, I have stuck to my points today and given that my chest is actually feeling better for the first time in days, I am looking forward to getting back to some exercise soon. Determined to stay on track and build on the loss next week.

Schooldidi · 11/01/2013 21:18

fork you need whole foods to increase your milk supply, so oats, beans, lentils, etc are really good for boosting your supply. At least that's what my hv told me and it definitely worked for me (so much so that I had a massive oversupply for a while before we settled into the normal amount). And they are all free on a filling and healthy day. I found a decent multivitamin helped too.

tan of course you can lose weight while eating your weekly allowance. Ignore your dh, he's talking bollocks. Most people are far more likely to stick to a plan if there are treats built into it, rather than going off plan for a treat and then thinking 'I've blown it now so I may as well quit'. I hope you do have your takeaway and don't let him ruin it for you.

living well done on losing 2lbs when you have your period and you are feeling poorly. That definitely is a positive, even though you wanted a bigger loss. I bet you get a bigger loss next week.

I don't wi til Sunday but I had a sneak peek this morning and it seems like I've lost 3lbs already. That seems really good to me, especially since we have had a takeaway (I tracked as far as I could and think I may have overestimated) and I've had some small sweet treats as well.
