2013 Weight Watchers over here!

INeedThatForkOff · 06/01/2013 08:54

The previous thread title and OP wad intended for information only, but as a few people arrived wanting a bit of mutual support, I thought a more specific thread title might be in order, esp if there's anyone else wanting to join in. I think the cashback deal on online membership expires now, anyway.

Can you introduce yourselves with a quick summary of your aims, please?

I'll be doing Weight Watchers online only. DS is nearly 10 weeks and I'm BFing, so I get 40PPs a day, plus the weeklies. I'm not sure how easily the weight will come off with that amount, but can't cut down any further yet.

I have 3 1/2 st to lose altogether. I'm currently 12st 7lb and was 10st pre-DC after previous success with WW. I'd like to go a bit further this time.

My short term goal is to be a bit slimmer for a family wedding next month. Unfortunately I'm the gat cousin and need any extra confidence I can get.

My WI is Thursday. So far, so good. I'm snacking but sticking to my PPs + weeklies. Struggling to get much exercise due to two poorly DCs, but hoping to find time for a DVD today.

Morning everyone. I had a blip last night - got in from netball match and ate a flake and a curly wurly. I put them on my tracker but weeklies are looking a bit light now. Am out for dinner tonight but friend is doing WW too so the meal will be pointed.
Lots going on this weekend so should earn some activity points but need to keep my food under control. This is where it all usually goes wrong Sad

Porridge for breakfast then vajazzle soup and fruit for lunch. Need to walk to work too to keep up with my 'I will exercise every day except Sunday' vow.

Have a lovely day all Grin

SallyBear · 11/01/2013 07:49

Hi backinaminute. There are some other BF on here so they can answer the tracking question for you. I would recommend getting some rocket mix salad. It lifts sandwiches to new heights. Soup is a great idea. I make a soup using the same principle as watercress soup sweating rocket, spinach and watercress with onion in some fry light before adding vegetable stock and some diced potato. Cook for about 30 minutes on a simmer, cool blitz and stir through a desert spoon of creme fraiche (low fat or another low fat plain yogurt) then warm through and serve. Really nice.

PseudoBadger · 11/01/2013 08:17

I bf, you have to tell it somewhere in your settings and how often you're doing it, then it will add the points for you. I get 33 a day.

Morning everyone

Just had a soup epiphany!

Have been having supermarket own brand cans of soup as easy lunches for work teamed with fruit and maybe a couple of Ryvita.

Today there was only a can of Asda Cream of Chicken soup left in the cupboard, made with double cream. Only 5pp! The Asda Tomato soup was 7pp!

Also pointed up my colleague's Heinz Big Soup Chicken & Veg and that's only 5pp too!

Great options for me as I need lunches for work that fill me up and keep me going for 6hrs (long commute home)

The vajazzle soup will be my weekend soup when I'm around the house more.

backinaminute my first WW shop last week included the following essentials:

Ryvita (1pp each)
Cans of soup
Skimmed milk
Lots of fruit to snack on
Extra lean mince
Brown rice
Mullerlight yogs (2pp each)
Lots of salad to have on the side to bulk out small pasta-based meals

Tomorrow I am going shopping after my first weigh in and will be adding to my list

Curly wurleys
Vajazzle soup ingredients
Mini Philly extra light pots (1pp each)

Oh and I got some little plastic tubs so I can take my measured porridge oats to work for breakfast and also so I could batch cook WW bolognese and freeze in pointed portion sizes for easy mid-week dinner

CelticPromise · 11/01/2013 08:51

backinaminute my diet essentials are:
butternut squash
mini Babybel light
low calorie tonic and posh cordial ( to fill the wine gap!)
roasted nut tracker bars
dairy milk little bars/treat size choc bars
fat free yoghurt
carrot, onion and cabbage ( to make crunchy salad)

jazzcat I spend quite sad amounts of time looking at the labels on soup. Sometimes the ' low fat' options are very high in points! Thanks for those tips.

AddictedtoCrunchies · 11/01/2013 10:05

Jazzcat where are your little pots from? mine are all too big or too small.

jazzcat28 · 11/01/2013 10:10

I got them in Asda they were in their smart price range, 75p for 2 I think. They are shaped like a tub/yog pot (I.e. not square) just big enough for 350ml milk in one. Or I have bought square ones from Ikea before

jazzcat28 · 11/01/2013 10:11

Also I'm recycling Chinese takeaway tubs (pre-WW of course!)

flatmouse · 11/01/2013 11:29

Ended up 4 pp under yday (not intentional).

Tonight's meal is Thai Green Chicken Curry at a hefty 10 pp per portion (mainly because i only have one tin reduced fat coconut milk, and DH bought 1 tin full-fat at a full 7 points more for the tin). Will have small amount of rice with it.
Was planning on using 9 weeklies on half bottle of wine, but our friends are January-dry, so maybe i can be dry tonight and use those 9 weeklies tomorrow instead! My problem tonight will be steering clear of the kettle chips.
I need to make my Thai Green Veg soup - very delicious and filling - not pointed it out yet, will add later to see how much a portion is - suspect not a lot, but that will be useful for lunches at work.

LegoAcupuncture · 11/01/2013 12:30

My dad brought a huge batch of cockaleekie soup oer last night. No idea how many points will be in a serving though. Any ideas?

Has porridge again for breakfast 4pp, then a ham salad wrap 4pp for lunch with some cantaloupe melon, grapes and a banana. Everyone is having pizza for tea tonight, unsure what I'm having yet.

onthemetro · 11/01/2013 12:35

Thai green veg soup sounds delicious Smile how do you make it?

Had 2 crumpets with lemon curd for breakfast, think its my new favourite, and relatively low on points too. Now I'm at work, keeping a big bottle of water by my desk so I can sip on it throughout the day Smile

Does anyone know if the WW pedometer works out your activity points for you? Thinking about getting the starter set when I join, but not sure - think that'd make my mind up though...

SallyBear · 11/01/2013 12:37

Afternoon all!
Breakfast was a rushed affair of hastily bolted down crumpets and mashed banana - free as I'm doing the Filling & Healthy plan. Just finished lunch, which was delicious! Scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on toast. 4pp in total for that. I need to think about dinner tonight as I have mince in the fridge. Thinking cottage pie or a chilli.

AddictedtoCrunchies · 11/01/2013 12:46

SallyBear why don't you make some meatballs? Hairy Diteers have a good recipe and I think there's o e on the WW site too. You could make a tomato sauce and have it with brown pasta. All free on F&H what time shall I come round?

AddictedtoCrunchies · 11/01/2013 12:47

Clearly that's Dieters Hmm

SallyBear · 11/01/2013 12:54

That is a good idea Crunchie. I have been meaning to buy their book. I shall google their recipe. You're doing F&H too aren't you, or you have done in the past?

lucamom · 11/01/2013 13:02

Hi all, mind if I gatecrash?

Joined ww via the website on Tuesday, weighed at home and am 13st. I'm looking to lose at least 2 1/2 but hopefully 3 stone, as I know I'm happy around the 10-10 1/2 st mark.

I've recently resigned as a ww leader, having been on maternity leave with my third child, now 14 mths (can no longer blame her for the baby weight!). I lost 3 st with ww 4 years ago, got to goal and became a leader so i know it works (and that was with 2 kids and being a SAHM). Happy to help if I can, but will need lots of kicking up the backside as I like to think I have all the answers food-wise, but no amount of training can sort out the greedy switch in my head!

Good luck everyone - it's a long, hard slog but one of the most important things you can do for yourself (I list giving up smoking and losing 3 st amongst my 'achievements', they were the hardest thing I've ever done!)

AddictedtoCrunchies · 11/01/2013 13:46

Welcome Lucamom. It's all very casual and lighthearted on here. If you scroll down you'll find the receipe for Vajazzle soup which is free on F&H or 0pp. Just go steady with the chillis Smile. Lots of other great tips too inclusing Sallybear's bns soup.

We're not publishing a list of weightlosses etc but it's just for mutual support (and tis very mutually supporting).

Sallybear I alternate between counting points and F&H depending on what i've got on. I'm out for a meal tonight will use some or all of my weeklies for that so thought I'd do F&H tomorrow as I'm out most of the day so can do a packed lunch with WW bread etc. I love it because it makes me eat real food but it's not restricted so I know that, if I've been out for a run, I can come home and eat pasta which is what I always crave.

i'm right in the zone at the moment and really motivated. My problem will come Tuesday. I will weigh in Monday and have a good loss then start to slip as I always do. That's when I'll need you lot to nag me to get through the second week.

AddictedtoCrunchies · 11/01/2013 13:49

SallyBear Hairy Dieter's meatballs

onthemetro · 11/01/2013 14:23

addicted, I've experienced that drop in motivation this week. Weighed in on Wednesday and then I think I just thought I could treat myself a little bit because I'd done well Confused Not a good idea, I need to get out of that mind frame. I didn't go over my points though, which is good, and I feel more focused today. Thankfully!

flatmouse · 11/01/2013 14:26

onthemetro here's my recipe (if you can call it that!)

Any green veg i have lying around (cabbage/sprouts/brocolli/green beans/celery/onion) - you can tell this recipe first created using "stuff i had in the fridge". Chopped to similar sizes for cooking in same amount of time. 1-2 potatos (depending on how much i'm making) peeled and cubed. Previously i have cooked of a couple of tbspns thai green curry paste (1pp) in a little oil and then gently sweated the veg down - not sure that's entirely necessary, so would be healthier and just as tasty without the oil stage.
So all in big saucepan and put in a couple of litres of veg stock (water with stock cube in) and cook until cooked!
Then blitz with hand whizzer thingy until smooth.

As you can tell, there's no proper recipe, but i can assure you it's very tasty and filling, and i'm thinking minimal points. Need a more interesting name though as Thai Green Veg soup doesn't really compete with Vajazzle soup does it??

flatmouse · 11/01/2013 14:30

Oh, and it goes in pots from previous chinese/indian takeaways in the freezer - which i can pop straight in the microwave at work. (and when i suggested not having the oil stage - i didn't mean leave the thai green curry paste out as then it would just be veg soup). Oh, and a dash of lime juice in it is also nice.

AddictedtoCrunchies · 11/01/2013 14:57

Well following the theme, it should be Flatmouse Thai soup? Can't think of anything more witty than that Confused

AddictedtoCrunchies · 11/01/2013 15:00

onthemetro what did you do to get yourself back on track? Stern word? I just know what I'm like and I'm determined I'm going to lose a stone over the next month. My jeans feel looser today in I'm trying to focus on how good that feels.

givemeaclue · 11/01/2013 16:07

What page is the vajazzle soup recipe on please

onthemetro · 11/01/2013 16:20

Addicted, I just sat down today and tried to think about why I'm sabotaging myself (think sabotaging might be a little strong, but it's what it feels like) - I asked myself:
Why am I doing this? (because I lost 4lbs, have got my full 49 weeklies again and I feel like I can treat myself)
What's going to happen if I carry on? (I won't lose anything and I'll feel shit!)
Is it worth it? (No!)
What can I do to stop doing it? (Plan things out, allow myself one treat but keep it under control - malted milk biscuits x2, 2pp Wink)

And then I thought about how happy I was during last week, and how great it was to lose a few pounds. I always find that if I think about things in a very detached way I can process the feeling better and then get over it, if you know what I mean? I used to suffer from anxiety pretty badly and this is what my counsellor told me to do, it helps me out so much. And I thought, why not try and apply it to this too Grin

Thanks Flatmouse, that sounds really nice, will definitely give that a go. Though my stick blender is broken so I'm not sure how I'll get around that! Will have to buy another one as I really want some soup Grin
