2013 Weight Watchers over here!

The previous thread title and OP wad intended for information only, but as a few people arrived wanting a bit of mutual support, I thought a more specific thread title might be in order, esp if there's anyone else wanting to join in. I think the cashback deal on online membership expires now, anyway.

Can you introduce yourselves with a quick summary of your aims, please?

I'll be doing Weight Watchers online only. DS is nearly 10 weeks and I'm BFing, so I get 40PPs a day, plus the weeklies. I'm not sure how easily the weight will come off with that amount, but can't cut down any further yet.

I have 3 1/2 st to lose altogether. I'm currently 12st 7lb and was 10st pre-DC after previous success with WW. I'd like to go a bit further this time.

My short term goal is to be a bit slimmer for a family wedding next month. Unfortunately I'm the gat cousin and need any extra confidence I can get.

My WI is Thursday. So far, so good. I'm snacking but sticking to my PPs + weeklies. Struggling to get much exercise due to two poorly DCs, but hoping to find time for a DVD today.

ahh, awful week so far and have almost used up all my extra points (im on 26 a day).

Monday I had a dermatology appointment (good) where they diagnosed me with ring worm in my eczema on my feet (bad) and told me to stop all eczema treatment and start antifungals. I have been in so much pain the past two nights I have barely slept as eczema has massivly flared up, and as for walking lots with my new pedometer app pah!

Tuesday I went for a beauty treatment I had booked in early December, waited an hour and then was told that I couldn't have the treatment due to nasty fungus diagnosis. And that i couldn't have any treatment there until my dr 'cleared me'. I might as well walk around with an 'unclean' sign.

Wednesday I had a buggering awful time getting home from work and got home 90 mins late (and STARVING) and was up working till 11pm. A whole garlic bread was polished off Blush. Oh and I couldn't get to the drs to get my new treatment as it was closed by the time I got home.

And I haven't even begun to boil wash everything I own like the dermatologist told me.

And I'm upset I can't have any beauty treatment as that is my incentive for loosing weight (eg every 7lbs a spray tan or a shellac cos I am so classy) Sad.

Anyway, rant over. I had a sneak peak at the scales and I have lost 1lb since Saturday. Onwards and upwards!

MagdalenVanstone · 10/01/2013 14:14

ethelb, that sounds rotten, poor you!

What can we do to help?

Can we maybe think of ways for you to reward yourself that aren't s&B for a while?

Also I once had to boil wash all my clothes, towels, soft furnishings from the whole flat (the last time I take in a bedraggled stray cat with fleas) and I found the nearest laundrette, they did the whole lot in 3 hours while I went for a cup of tea. I think it cost about £30 altogether, and was so much easier than doing the whole lot at home. Might be worth a try?

ethelb · 10/01/2013 14:29

@magdalene thanks for the tip about the laundrette. we have one up the road we use for the dryers so will ask them.

Yes, I'm most pissed off about not being able to treat myself with s&b stuff, or look forward to a nice walk this weekend. Any other ideas?

MercuryRising · 10/01/2013 14:38

Can I join please. I started Weight Watchers back in September but two holidays ( one AI), a family bereavment and Christmas and very low will power meant when I was weighed on Tuesday I was actually 1.5lb heavier than when I started Blush Blush

But seven years ago I got to goal so I know it works.

I hoping posting on here will help to keep me motivated Smile

OrangeLily · 10/01/2013 14:57

Oh dear someone please help.

Someone baked for me today. Someone who would be very hurt that if I didn't eat it. It was lovely but now means I have 2pp left for dinner! Shock

I'm also working late and its not my day to drive on my car share so I can't even nip past a shop to pick up some veg to nibble on.

What do I do? Hmm

MathsDebater · 10/01/2013 15:05

Orange do you have any WW soups in? they are 2pps. Or perhaps use some of your 49? could you could have a salad with some Tuna in water or brine its only 3pps per tin. I put all crazy sorts of stuff in my salad, gherkins, apple, grated carrot?

Or an egg white omelet? :)

OrangeLily · 10/01/2013 15:19

Oh thank-you! I'd forgotten about WW soups. Heinz are about 6pp which feels like such a waste when you're on 27pp! I think we might have some. Already told DH to eat without me so I'm not tempted by his bigger PP allowance. I also have tuna and salad bits too Smile

I should have said that we have visitors this weekend so I'm trying to keep all my PP allowance for that.

ethelb · 10/01/2013 15:27

a portion of salmon and lots and lots of veg is 2 pp

MathsDebater · 10/01/2013 15:37

Remember that tuna in oil is much higher! since doing WWs I don't think I'll ever buy tuna in oil again, it's such a waste of calories.

SallyBear · 10/01/2013 16:43

DH is away, so the kids are having pizza and I'm having the chicken & couscous salad again. I have a load of mince that I need to think what I can make that they'll all eat. Mine don't really like mince, so I might do beef koftas or something. If it involves a wrap - they'll eat it!

onthemetro · 10/01/2013 17:40

Oh Ethel, that sounds awful. I've got bad eczema on the insides of my elbows and on two of my fingers, and it drives me crazy, so I sympathise. At least you've got treatment for the ringworm and hopefully it'll provide some relief.

And you'll be able to treat yourself to those things soon, don't lose hope! Smile

onthemetro · 10/01/2013 17:42

Have managed to stay within my points today, well I will do if I don't snack after dinner. Ended up having a chicken teriyaki burrito, it came to 16pp so I'm very pleased. Also resisted the hot chocolates, iced tea, and smoothies to have a diet Pepsi, AND I walked there and back. Feeling quite proud, though that's pretty sad!

SallyBear · 10/01/2013 17:44

Metro I hope you logged your activity points from your walking!

I was reminiscing about souvlaki that I had in a Greek restaurant last month, after you mentioned burrito...... Blush

onthemetro · 10/01/2013 18:04

No I haven't, I don't really know how to as I'm not going to meetings yet. I'm guessing the means to work it out is something that's in the app/on the website?

SallyBear · 10/01/2013 18:17

Yes. If you work on the principle that ten minutes of walking is 1pp, 20 mins is 2pp, 30 mins is 3pp and so on.

INeedThatForkOff · 10/01/2013 19:37

jazzcat, you had exactly the same breakfast and tea ad me. Spooky Grin (well it would be if you had a smoked salmon and cream cheese sarnie for dinner).

Welcome on board, MercuryRising.

WI today which is officially just over a pound since I joined WW, but 2 1/2 since I started counting on 2nd Jan.

I just had the minted pea and feta omelette from the hairy dieters book. Made it with 2 eggs instead of the recommended 3 but all other quantities were as listed in the book. Served it with a big salad and just worked it out in the recipe builder as just 7pp!

It was really tasty, very filling and didn't taste at all like diet food with all that cheese in there. I'm so pleased as I've got enough points for a cheeky glass of Pinot AND a meringue nest with fruit Grin

chillyigloo · 10/01/2013 19:54

Metro apparently you even get activity points from housework, providing it's the kind that leaves you a little sweaty Hmm like hoovering or changing all the beds sheets in the house.

I was sceptical when told but I'm totally remembering it next time I have a blip ... My house will be spotless!

didireallysaythat · 10/01/2013 20:09

Back from the weigh in - I stayed for the mtg instead of going for a run (I know, I woosed out but its freezing). But I lost 2.5 so I'm happy.

For those who don't stay to their mtg - try going to a different one ? When I restarted ww I went to one and it was awful. The leader looked so run down and like she had another stone or two to lose (I know that sounds awful catty, but she wasn't convincing me that this was a good idea). So the week after I went somewhere else and found this wonderful lady who likes a laugh, a drink and a cream egg. Or two. She put on 5lbs over Xmas. So she's back tracking. And finding someone to go with definitely helps...

I'm going to find my pedometer (too cold to run!). Its not a ww one but I just need to move more....

MagdalenVanstone · 10/01/2013 21:35

Ethel, how about a nice DVD boxset so you can rest your feet whilst you watch it and avoid the snow what sort of things do you like?

Just had to get my DH to help me get out of the bath. I think I slightly overdid it at the gym yesterday Blush

jazzcat28 · 10/01/2013 22:08

fork how strange! Ended up having beans on toast for lunch so no full house for us Wink

Did discover that one nest of asda dry noodles is way too much for one person.

My meeting is Saturday morning so shall be extra careful tomorrow. First week and I've stuck to it religiously (even have weekly pp left) so keeping fingers crossed for a loss!

onthemetro · 10/01/2013 22:17

Ooh, jazz, my meetings will be on a Saturday morning too. Though I'm not starting til a week Saturday due to lack of money!

I just had a toasted crumpet with a teaspoon of lemon curd on it, it was absolutely delicious! 3pp, and a lovely nighttime snack

INeedThatForkOff · 10/01/2013 22:22

I just had instant golden syrup flavour porridge which was quite nice. Did the Nell McAndrew DVD too, which was sweaty work.

I've stayed within points, eaten my five a day and been to rugby training.

Magdalen it was me with the Babybel Lights, they do go some way to filling a cheese shaped gap don't they? I love cheese...

backinaminute · 11/01/2013 07:39

I've just typed this out somewhere else but it's vanished so sorry if it pops up twice.

I went to my first meeting last night so ready to start this morning.

Firstly, does anyone know how to add my breastfeeding points to my tracker?

Also, I will be going shopping later and I wondered what my essential purchases should be? I have Frylight on the list. Does anyone have any other recommendations?

I will make some soup later. I'm by myself today with a 6 week old baby and a 20 month toddler so will try to at least.

Already gone a bit wrong, plan was for porridge for breakfast but just realised we have run out of semi-skimmed milk! Grin
