Week 8 - Little Black Dress Low Carb Bootcamp - One Fat Lady? Not here!

Spreadsheet of Wonderfulness is here

Hope everyone is doing well.

I haven't weighed this morning - was a little bit distracted by a phone call from my lovely SIL in Australia, to announce the safe arrival of Gabriel Paul and Nell Florence Jean! Gabriel weighed 5lbs 2oz and Nell 4lbs 10oz, so good weights to say they are 3 weeks early.

So I'm a great aunty Grin

Sorry guys another question (promise I will also give to the thread once I get going!!). Am presuming a very dry sparkling wine like prosecco is also lower in carbs (like champagne) than other alcohol? I have a dinner party on sat, which is going to be a bloody nightmare on this diet as it is (think she's cooking chicken Biryani) without not being able to have even a small amount of alcohol to boot.

BIWI · 19/11/2012 22:03

You will be very pleased to know that it is!

Biryani will be hopeless though Grin

Tea was that tescos fish ready meal I linked to before, with leeks, mushrooms and courgettes stir fried with cream cheese. Lush.

I know, I'm going to have to pick out the little bits of chicken, throw the rice on the floor and drink the prosecco-thank god for the prosecco. Bet she does cheesecake for pud too!

BIWI · 19/11/2012 22:19

Can you not tell her that you're low carbing, and see if you could have your curry just as chicken and sauce, before she mixes it with the rice?

And offer to take cheese round for a cheeseboard.

Just had a look at the spreadsheet - looks like some good solid losses this week - well done everyone! My scales have packed up altogether so can't weigh today. Will plan to get some new ones later in the week (or maybe dh can mend the old ones) so don't archive me, please!

Congrats on being a great-auntie BIWI. Lovely babies

I seem to be losing my sweet tooth on this woe. I did a party for ds2's birthday on Sat, tried a strawberry dipped in the chocolate fountain and it was far too sweet. I did myself some whipped cream and had that with the strawberries instead (to help me resist all the cake etc etc). I definitely felt tempted to eat the rubbish sugary stuff but not because I really wanted it - just so that it wouldn't be wasted.

I think she's doing a proper one, where you cook the rice in layers along with the rice. It'll be ok, I'll just pick at it and make some excuse. She 's getting stressed about it and is a good mate, so I'd rather fall off the wagon than add to her angst

Major I know it slows down my progress but I have decided that I want to enjoy my life so I do the WOE as well as I can whenever I can but when life gets in the way I just let myself enjoy it without guilt then go back to it. Interestingly I am finding my urge to cheat is far weaker than it has been on previous dietsand, when I do cheat, it is much less spectacular than previously too.

Meg My sweet tooth is fading too. I made carbfree ice cream for a special treat last week and it was way too sweet. Next time I will try yoghurt or add a few raspberries.

Congrats on the babies BIWI - instant family!

Halfthesize - hope the op goes well.

Have updated the spreadsheet - in how-many-weeks I have lost a grand total of 0.5lb! Actually after the last few weekends, I'm amazed. Still, it's down, yay!

Well done to all the losers.

You know you're a true low carber when .......

You have last night's left over vegetables reheated for breakfast. Yum. DH's face was a picture though especially when I lobbed some mayo on them. Grin

half hope the op goes well, get well soon.

BIWI I've just looked at the Briffa day and hovered on buying a ticket thinking oh sod it I want to go trains or not but you can't buy a ticket. Says 'Ended'. Confused

Morning all.

You know you're a true low carber when.....

you see a thread saying "shall I eat a whole box of Toffifee for lunch?" and have to sit on your hands not to reply with "Why would you want to eat something so revolting when you can have bacon and eggs?"

Alpro yoghurt this morning for brekkie. Am, as predicted, 9 2. Very happy with that. (If you knew how much gin I am drinking you would be happy with that too Grin)

DSes and I are counting christmas songs on the radio, have heard 4 so far! LOVE IT!!!

Oh no, Singing! Send PatrickMumsnet a PM and ask if you can go - I know he was chasing around for more people to sign up.

I'm still 9,7 1/2, which I'm pleased about as there was a lot of wine this weekend Blush

I'd very much like to see 9.6 if I can by next week sometime, then I can enter '60kg' into all the gym machines!

Ok will email him although he never replied to my last one querying the venue.

Dosh, I heard Michael Buble on Chris Evans this morning. Made me feel so Christmassy. I love, love, love Christmas. [Grin]. So far made the vodka, cake and two puddings.

Morning All, so I get to hospital this morning at 7am, wait for 2 hours and now am back home. Operation cancelled due to massive amount of serious emergencies taken through the night in A&E. No beds left!! Angry not their fault but so annoying!

So just had a lovely coffee and now cooking bacon and egg. singing I love all the christmas songsSmile

I was listening too Singing, (radio 2 listener since Chris Moyles left Radio 1, can't bear Nick Grimshaw), I too adore Christmas, I don't start playing my own Christmas music in the car till December, but love hearing it on the radio!

I have made my cake. Am planning to make mince pies too at some point. Will not clove my oranges too early this year as they were all mouldy by Christmas Day last year!

Fab photos Boobz and Biwi!
Boobz, in answer to your question (this thread moves so quickly it was a couple of pages back) I settled at 8 2, so lost a stone in total. This Bootcamp thing is addictive though and I'd LOVE to have no fat on my hips and thighs (and butt Grin) but I'm loads older than you (45) and am worried I'll start to look haggard and my knees will be even saggier if I go lower.
I have been brave too and uploaded slightly cringey before and after low-carbing photos. I started a bit before bootcamp 3 months ago lurking on the previous threads and trying Dukan, it has made a difference and I feel way better. I just hope I can be sensible over Christmas and not blow it...I'm a bit all-or-nothing!

Report
BIWI · 20/11/2012 11:33

cathy - those photos of you 'before' are equally something I would happily settle at! At 9.7, I'm still carrying obvious weight around my middle, and also around my back/tops of my arms.

But I'm starting to see some definition on my abdomen now, when I suck everything in, you can definitely see the muscles developing underneath there!

Hi all, finally got my wii back so was able to weigh myself, a disappointing 1lb off (although I suppose it's better than 1lb on!).

I haven't been able to exercise as much as I'm used to because of an injury so that hasn't helped. Also find that the booze consumption has been slowly tricking up...

I definitely need to sign in to these threads more often as it helps keeping me on the straight and narrow!

Willie could you please put me back on the spreadsheet? Thanks

So breakfast was an omelette with bacon, swiss chard, a slug of cream and a bit of cheese. For lunch I'll have a bit of leftover sausage stew from last night. Dinner: don't know yet. Fish possibly.

Welcome back, Skaffen! A pound off is still a pound - two packs of lard, if that helps you visualise it?

cathy - your after photos are brilliant - have you been exercising too? It looks like more than just dieting - there is real muscle and definition there too. I want your legs (I want everyone else's legs!)... I want to say I want my own legs by January!
