Come and weigh in:

docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AmNIskihgXotdFVPcF9zWUhIal9BbTl5SnlTM3BlWVE#gid=0

Glad to see the losses so far!

I'm taking my weight as of last Friday, as I know that my weekend will have affected things. Yesterday wasn't too bad a day, although we went out for a Thai meal and even though I made the best choices I could, some of the food was definitely too sweet.

Now that I've got this weekend out of the way, it's back to it.

There's also a very interesting article for you to read, about leptin, the hormone that controls hunger:

Ok thanks guys, will stop panicking I've messed up somehow and just see what happens on Monday. Any thoughts on what I could take to ease things along? Never take laxatives so not sure what's best (and gentlest).

horrorcanewyn · 02/11/2012 11:39

Thanks for all the birthday wishes everyone Thanks. Had a lovely day yesterday, breakfast in bed, finished for the day in uni at 10 after a stupid maths test & taken out for lunch by a lovely friend. Also had a takeaway with the kids & DH followed by Nigella's flourless choc cake. Willie - I know you're planning this for your birthday next week & I can recommend it - very rich & not too sweet.

But the best bit was my new boots. Being quite chunky of calf, I haven't been able to wear knee high boots since I was a teenager, but I managed to get a pair to do up! (From an ordinary shop, not special made to measure ones). Thank you biwi - without you & this woe I'd never have managed it. I'm proper chuffed this morning.

Lavender - DH takes 2 senna morning & evening when he suffers and finds it works after a couple of days. HTH.

Piffle · 02/11/2012 11:41

I struggled in the first 2 weeks weight went up and down, now I to my 3rd week and it is falling off at a rate of 1/2 lb a day
The poo thing was something I had real issues with at first too.
Def weightless better when you ate going more regularly.
I added a few blueberries and drink 3 -4 L of water and take psyllium husk 1-2 x a day
Plus green leafy veg 2 x a day.
I believe stewed rhubarb with sweetener is good for basement issues...

AuntieMaggie · 02/11/2012 11:55

Ok ladies how the heck am I going to manage with lunches for a week away from work (sun to fri) staying in a different hotel each night and travelling between cities?

And on a budget?

MrsHerculePoirot · 02/11/2012 12:00

WIth difficulty tbh. How are you travelling between places? Are you travelling alone or together? Will lunch be on the go?

MrsHerculePoirot · 02/11/2012 12:05

Stuff yourself withe massive breakfast of bacon, eggs and mushrooms in morning. Have nothing until tea and take pork scratchings and pepperamis to munch on in the day...?

horrorcanewyn · 02/11/2012 12:05

Auntie - Aldi do a seasonal salad bag for 49p - I like it with their Garlic & Chive dip and sliced meat. Only costs about £2.25 all in, but the garlic sauce prob isn't the best choice if you're meeting people after.

BIWI · 02/11/2012 12:05

AuntieMaggie Can you take a coolbag with you, and pack a bag with stuff like hard boiled eggs, some packs of ham/cooked meats/smoked salmon? If you have a minibar in your room you could keep them in there overnight.

Also, if you're driving, check out the service stations that you will pass en route - lots of them have M&S food outlets now, so you could buy stuff from there - salad stuff, or cheese, olives, etc.

Hopefully, being in hotels, you can at least have a cooked, low carb breakfast every morning, which should sustain you till lunchtime.

Happy birthday horrorcayn Thanks

Piffle sounds like it's going really well for you!

Lavender - are you eating plenty of fat and drinking plenty of water, along with green veg/salad? If you're still suffering, and don't want to buy laxatives, the other thing to try is Thornton's sugar-free/diabetic chocolate/toffee. Just go easy with it, as it is very, very potent!

Lavendersbluedillydilly1969 · 02/11/2012 13:17

BIWI yes I'm drinking lots of water, eating plenty of veg (prob more than ever before) and fat (including coconut oil).
Was going to look at horror and Piffles suggestions (thank you) but like the idea of sugar free toffees better so will have a look for those later. Am hoping it's just this, it's damn uncomfortable so need to get things moving again!

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 02/11/2012 14:32

Lavender, I also had poo issues, but now Ds is back in school I've been able to get a lot more exercise in, well, long walks with the dog, and that has helped. Also, a strong black coffee and some vit c also helps me.

For some people, too much dairy and eggs can bung them up, maybe try a day or two of just meat protein and lots of veg, see if that helps?

AuntieMaggie · 02/11/2012 15:01

Thanks ladies - driving between places so sometimes lunch will be on the go and others on site and not all places have kitchen facilities (not all hotels will have mini bars either... i work for a gov dept...)

Though the weather should be cold enough to leave the cool box in the car...

CaptainMugwash · 02/11/2012 16:58

Hi everyone - i realise I have not been joining in, I just thought i would stop by & explain. Week 1 & 2 were very stressful for me with work and home and we were compensating by drinking lots of wine - even more than usual. Anyway, since then we have decided to go Tee Total, (both me & H) as we were drinking an obscene amount really, for far too long now Blush

It is going really well, 2 weeks in, but for the past 3 weeks I have had one bug after another, and am currently in bed trying to get better. The doctor weighed me yesterday and to my horror his scales show me to be 1 stone heavier than ours at home, so I dread to think how much I weighed at the peak of the drinky weeks. I am hoping that another week off drink and my liver will be feeling better, all bugs gone, and energy coming back. I also need to change my lunch routine tues-thurs as I have been calling for a wrap / crisps / choc brownie / tropicana and all of the calories I am saving from no drinking buckets full of wine are just being replaced my rubbish.

Hope bootcamp is going well for everyone - I am going to go back and read the threads and get myself motivated once again and hopefully get this extra stone shifted!

captainmummy · 02/11/2012 17:08

A stone mugwash? A whole stone difference? Wow ,time for new scales at home Maybe?

Had no breakfast, but have had assorted nuts on the go, and am doing mushrooms with salad for tea, with prob more nuts, as have no yog in the house for pudding.

It's the weekend! Glass of vodka, here I come!

NotAgainAndAgain · 02/11/2012 18:44

"BIWI" thank you for the article about sabotaging weight loss - good suff! Thanks

NotAgainAndAgain · 02/11/2012 19:13

I have already accepted that my loss is just not happening - probably I can not make myself drink so much. But may be in the long run it will start falling off.

Doshusallie · 02/11/2012 19:25

Jesus Christ mug wash, they were a stone out???? A stone???? Seriously???????

Pmsl at "basement issues" that is my new phrase for constipation. will try and use it at earliest opportunity.

Home! Unpacked! In pyjamas with wine

Knackered, proper tired, we had such a great time.

Lunch was the ubiquitous sausages, eggs, cheese and alpro yoghurt, all brought with me from home.

Tea is going to be an Indian takeaway, so excited about eating something really tasty after a week of such boring food. Am having lamb tikka, chicken balti, spinach and cheese and cauliflower Bhaji [pig]

Am making these for our fireworks/bonfire extravaganza at my dad's tomorrow night.

Will exercise restraint (in food perhaps not wine.)

Converted friend has lost 4 pounds since Monday, is thirsty all the time, and has full blown carb flu. Ha ha ha. Sorry, I mean, oh dear, keep going sweets, this too shall pass. Grin

HumphreyCobbler · 02/11/2012 19:33

If you have a stall don't fret, honestly. I am the Queen of Stalling and I am still SIGNIFICANTLY thinner than I was when I started this. Just keep at it and make sure you are not having a sneaky sweetener in your morning coffee as this will have an effect as it is in the rules for a reason Blush

Lavendersbluedillydilly1969 · 02/11/2012 19:35

Am out for dinner tonight so am going to have my first cheat and have wine and rice with my curry etc. hope that it doesn't hit me too much tomorrow but maybe a night with a few carbs then strict bootcamp again will start things off again.

SingingTunelessly · 02/11/2012 20:11

Welcome home Dosh! Looking forward to your weigh in evil Smile. Sounds like you had a great time.

Captain - a whole 14lbs! Shock. Can't be right surely?!

WineGless · 02/11/2012 21:20

Arrived home after a 9 hour drive
B bacon egg and mushrooms
L tuna salad and mayo
Picked at cucumbers, green peppers and houmous
D chicken breast wrapped in bacon with roasted veg

Large glass or two of red
Dreading stepping on scales tomorriw

Doshusallie · 02/11/2012 21:49

Let's hold hands wine. In a non touching kind of way so we don't weigh in at 4 stone heavier.

WineGless · 02/11/2012 21:52

Ok I'll be channelling you at 7am and praying for us both(god knows ill need it)
However after the hen weekend that's coming up I don't know why I'm worrying about tomorrow morning!

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 02/11/2012 22:13

Hi all,

B alpro yoghurt
L (in cafe, not much choice) bacon, egg, sausages, tomato, mushrooms. Was proud that I handed the potato (tattie) scone and toast to DH.
D 2 eggs scrambled with a splash of milk (because when my Asda order arrived, the eggs were under large heavy cartons of juice Angry and broken so I used them up) and they forgot my double cream, extra Angry
Snack, now, olives with chilli.

Was helping at school Halloween party tonight, I could have fallen into a bottle of vino after that hell on earth experience, but haven't. I haven't had much veg today or enough water, but will do better tomorrow.

winegless glad you are back safe, we had a hard frost this morning on the roads here, so good to hear you are ok.

Hope everyone has a great weekend, enjoy fireworks if you go!!
