Come and weigh in:

docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AmNIskihgXotdFVPcF9zWUhIal9BbTl5SnlTM3BlWVE#gid=0

Glad to see the losses so far!

I'm taking my weight as of last Friday, as I know that my weekend will have affected things. Yesterday wasn't too bad a day, although we went out for a Thai meal and even though I made the best choices I could, some of the food was definitely too sweet.

Now that I've got this weekend out of the way, it's back to it.

There's also a very interesting article for you to read, about leptin, the hormone that controls hunger:

Good morning, what a day o disappointment and good news for you AuntieMaggie.

WillieWaggledagger · 01/11/2012 07:11

Sorry finger slipped and

WillieWaggledagger · 01/11/2012 07:14

Bloody phone

Pleased to hear your ds is ok viper

Am staying with relatives, we had risotto lat night which was my first proper cheat, and as my cousin has a lot on her plate ATM I wasn't going to make meal planning more difficult too. The risotto was delicious but I was full very quickly and couldn't finish my portion. A tiny bit bloated today but not too bad and hopefully I won't get cravings too badly

WillieWaggledagger · 01/11/2012 07:16

I did have wine too but jut te one glass. I think I did better with rice than I would have done with pasta (which was my fear)

Brasssection · 01/11/2012 07:58

I spent the day baking Halloween treats for our party and didn't have one, not even a bite of cupcake or a crisp. And no booze with all the sloshed parents as per tradition. No one told me I'd lost weight (fair enough, as I bloody well haven't, damn it). But a few asked me if I was pregnant [hshock]

That is how entrenched my hard drinking reputation is [hsad]

BIWI · 01/11/2012 07:59
Grin

Just think of how lovely and healthy your liver must be, Brasss!

WineGless · 01/11/2012 08:14

Getting ready to meet up with toomuchmonth

Doshusallie · 01/11/2012 08:39

Morning all. Wow what a day at Butlins yesterday:

Hour of swimming and water slides at splash world
Fun fair
Soft play
Thomas tank engine show
Football
Beach walk
Climbing wall
Face painting dressing up and Halloween show

It was fantastic, everyone dressed up. [hgrin]

Lots of gin, but no bad food. Tea was chicken with cheese, side salad with coleslaw and broccolli.

Right, off for another day of fun. Weather looks a bit pants today.....

captainmummy · 01/11/2012 09:14

Yesterday seems to have been a carb-fest all round (nearly).

I went on a fab Spa day - pool, sauna, facial...followed by afternoon tea, which was sandwiches (white bread!) and scones with jam and cream, and cake. I left the crusts (honestly) and half the cake. Also had both glasses of bubbly (not driver!) and then we went to the pub and shared a portion of chips and mayo, then a chicken kebab (only had a bit of salad) and then a small tub of Haagen-dazs vanilla between us. Only had a few scoops but I feel really bloated today and headache-y, prob from the bubbly, then white wine, then vodka...

So many carbs.

I think No-vember is a good idea.

MrsHerculePoirot · 01/11/2012 09:29

Well, I stayed away from the Halloween treats by eating my sugar free butterscotch sweets from M&S. I did however get a real craving for something, took one bit of a chocolate krispie cake thing, immediately regretted it, spat it out and had a large glass of water instead.

I have just bought the IPD cookbook on my iPad, going to try the butter chicken tonight as so many of ou have mentioned it. Anything else from there anyone particularly loves?

Butlins sounds fab btw!

sybilfaulty · 01/11/2012 09:32

Being a lady of a certain age, I wonder if I should grow my mo for November....

Morning all. Hope all are well. Very excited by tales of pregnancy and babies. My youngest is 4 next month and the baby stage seems a very long time ago.

I have decided, in a slightly anal way, to write down everything i eat and drink in November, just to see really how much I put away. I remember one year Nigel slater did that for a whole year and it was fascinating. He also lost 2 st in the process. I probably only need to lost another stone tops, but I just think it might be interesting. I won't bore you with the minutiae on here though, except to say so far it was a hangover breakfast Blush

dotty2 · 01/11/2012 09:36

hello everyone. I am slowly creeping back on to the lowcarb wagon. Had a few too many nuts yesterday, but much less bad than my two days of doom on Monday and Tuesday. I suddenly felt really down and stressed for no really good reason and fell into the biscuit tin. Am feeling in a bit of a better place this morning, and went for a run first thing, taking advantage of it now being light-ish at 6.30. And I ate no Halloween sweets. Yay. Still not quite brave enough to weigh, though.

vnmum · 01/11/2012 10:23

UNfortunately I was not as restrained as some others on this thread yesterday. I had spent all day making cakes and gingerbread skeletons for a party and I did anticipate not many low carb options at the buffet so I ended up eating too many carbs from the buffet and then succumbed to a cake or two. I also managed to polish off a whole bottle of Rosé to myself Blush. I don't have a hangover today surprisingly seen as I don't drink normally. It was a good night but I am envisioning a gain on the scales on monday unless I can get the damage off over the weekend.

I also have some cupcakes and gingerbread left over from the party and am desperately trying to work out how I can get rid of them so I am not tempted as the day goes on. I don't want to throw them away after my hard work making them but there are too many for me to feed to DC especially as I don't like them having wheat that much. Any ideas on how to get rid of them gratefully recieved.

Viper Glad DS is ok, it must be a weight off your mind.
Dosh Sounds like you are having a great holiday Smile

kandinskysgirl · 01/11/2012 10:28

Hi all, yesterday went well and I am 2lb down today (I cant help it but be a daily weigh-er!)

So I had
B-pate and ham
L-cucumber,cheese and eggs
D-low carb sausages with celeriac mash and broccoli

Hopefully today will follow a similar pattern. Thinking maybe salmon and cauliflower cheese for dinner-anyone got a foolproof cauli-cheese recipe at all?

Jacaqueen · 01/11/2012 10:36

I managed to escape Halloween unscathed.

I even refused wine form our lovely neighbours. Despite having no children they always make a big fuss of the boys at Halloween and insist that we call in on them when we get back from guising. In past years this has turned into a bit of a session, but once all jokes had been told and treats given out we left before the wine started to flow. Thankfully no one asked if I was pregnant.

I am loving the Butlins updates Dosh.

I have got a night out on Friday that will feature wine. I will give up alcohol after that until St Andrews Day which is 30th of Nov.

vnmum · 01/11/2012 10:41

Interesting article BIWI. A few things ran true for me? I wonder if I have been eating too few calories or carbs when I have been exercising heavily because I have always tried to workout with no glycogen in my muscles to burn more fat but I have to admit it never really led to a massive increase in weight loss. Also I have fallen into the habit of only eating lunch and tea, sometimes just tea and I wonder if that is having a stressor response on my body due to chronic calorie reduction. Maybe it should only be used as a plateau breaker

dotty2 · 01/11/2012 11:29

re. the leftover cake, vnmum - can you cut off any icing and put them in the freezer and use as the basis for a future trifle or something when you have guests? (If you make real custard or use marscapone, you could even make a lowcarb portion for yourself minus the cake!)

vnmum · 01/11/2012 12:43

Good suggestion Dotty but DH took them into work at lunch time so I managed to get rid of them. They were gratefully received Smile.

Breakfast was olives and a babybel, lunch will be chicken drumsticks , skin on, with coleslaw and tea is chicken kebabs and salad. Back on the wagon with avengeance.

Doshusallie · 01/11/2012 13:02

Can I sit down please???

Currently in q for beauty and the beast panto, should be good! Boys in soft play while I wait. Their behaviour has improved dramatically thank goodness. Beach walk turned into practically a swim for them the nutters, they got soaking!!!! Loved it!!

Lunch has been 2 sausages, still full from brekkie!

Ilovemyteddy · 01/11/2012 13:52

Haven't caught up with the thread but wanted to ask if anyone else has felt faint at all. It's happened to me three times whilst queuing in shops in the last fortnight and I had eaten properly before all of those times, so it wasn't lack of food.

Any ideas before I take myself off to the doctor's?

jan2013 · 01/11/2012 14:06

i have messed up a LOT. I went to a lovely older ladies house for tea this morning, at 10.30. i thought i might have to have a snack and fall off the wagon, and then get on track asap... however

i have had a scone, then she gave appletart and cream, then after an hour she asked did i want another cup of tea and gave me a massive cream cake. i usually refuse all this stuff, i don't even like it... i had to eat it as it really felt rude not to. i feel awful now, heart racing feel a little ill. how can i get normal again!

Doshusallie · 01/11/2012 14:10

(Add a baby bel and a packet of pork scratchings to that lunch)

captainmummy · 01/11/2012 14:27

ilove - maybe you're pregnant? Grin I'd get off to the docs.

I havent stopped eating today - a pack of salad leaves and mayo (for breakfast!) some cheese, half pack sliced ham, 2 bowls celeriac soup, now a coffee with cream. I'm tired, i think that's the prob. I know that lab rats eat more when sleep deprived, but i can't sleep in the day, it gives me a headache. At least it';s all low-carb

SingingTunelessly · 01/11/2012 14:31

Teddy, no haven't felt faint at all. Not feeling too great today but that was because I got soaked at dog training this morning and now feel cold and shivery. Think you should head to the docs tbh.

Dish, sounds like you are having a blast! Grin

Jan - just Shock. I can't believe you managed all that!

sybilfaulty · 01/11/2012 14:50

Teddy, I too feel fuzzy from time to time, but generally only if I need to eat, so it's quite rare as generally I don't get hungry these days. Are you keeping up with your salts? Remember we need to ensure we replenish potassium as well as sodium when drinking lots of water so it could be that. Avocados, salmon and the horrid Lo Salt will help. Otherwise, get a pregnancy test or a dr's appoinment. Hope you rally soon.
