Week 4 - Little Black Dress Low Carb Bootcamp - where the going gets tough ...

Morning all!

Come and confess all on the Spreadsheet of Wonderfulness

By now, you may be finding it tough going. The weight loss is nothing like it was in the first couple of weeks. In fact, you may even have seen the scales show a gain.

This is quite normal at this stage, as your body is shifting/has shifted into fat-burning mode, and you are now burning only fat. No more water loss. Long-term, sustainable weight loss is likely to settle at 1-2lbs per week.

By now, though, you should be more used to this WOE, and it should seem a more normal way to eat. Hopefully you've sorted out how to plan for times when you're out and about, and have a few strategies up your sleeve for the unexpected. And hopefully you are also better at knowing what does and doesn't work for you.

Here's to a good week to us all. Smile

Feeling tired tonight. Not enough water I suspect.

Breakfast: slice of ham and philly

Lunch: lamb steak, mushrooms, brocolli, small amount of roast turnip

Dinner: nothing. Not hungry.

tartiflette · 22/10/2012 19:54

YUM to that menu BIWI esp the nests Wink

HumphreyCobbler · 22/10/2012 20:00

hello everyone
just checking in

I have been doing shred for five days now and def notice the difference

Poppy1234 · 22/10/2012 20:17

Wow BIWI that menu looks fabulous, especially the tartiflette nests. I'm off to look on amazon for a mandoline. Dinner wasn't too bad, it was quiche (I did eat a bit of the pastry on the base but left the crust with green salad (although the dressing tasted super sweet) and coleslaw small glass of white wine which I didn't finish.

I really had to limit my portion quite considerably, there is no way I could go back to trying to manage weight by restricting quantity.

Viperidae · 22/10/2012 20:17

Had a very boring day trying to update my CPD records but managed not to fall into snacks to survive it and only one Diet Coke.

Had leftover chilli, guacamole and sour cream for lunch. Tea was chicken breasts with tomato, mozarella and pesto under the skin (ok but not stunning), oven roasted veg and a sauce made with the juices and cream. Sadly I followed it up with an Atkins bar but it wasn't very nice so will not be making it a habit

sybilfaulty · 22/10/2012 20:26

Hello everyone

STS for me again - but I have my period so that could be it. Am very tired and hungry today so will be celeriac dauph and leeks, bit of Nigella and early bed.

Well done to all the losers .

Brasssection · 22/10/2012 20:29

Ok. No more MFP and plenty of low carb food. I think it would be good for me to get out of the habit of counting calories etc... for once and for all. I still feel hungry a lot so had better just eat more. Some of your daily menus look tiny.

For dinner parties I always find an antipasto platter goes very well and you can put loads of cheese, meats if you eat them, artichokes, olives and anchovies. And bread forbthose who eat it. Yum and very low carb.

WillieWaggledagger · 22/10/2012 20:30

Evening everyone

In a burst of energy have turned the house upside down with organising and spring cleaning (in October!). The carpets are being cleaned next week so it's a good opportunity to sort out the piles of crap that accumulate. Dp thinks I have lost the plot. I pointed out that half term next week is an excellent opportunity for him to sort out his wardrobe and school files

Biwi good job we don't know where you live otherwise there might be some unexpected guests for dinner!

caramelwaffle · 22/10/2012 20:39

Good evening all.

BIWI that menu sounds lovely.

Is there a yes/no fruit list? I have had fresh pineapple.

tempertemper · 22/10/2012 21:00

Fuck arse poo. Period arrived.
Silver lining is 1.2Lb weight loss despite a a terribly lenient interpretation of bootcamp rules during a long premenstrual week (yes the .2 counts).

Today:
B scrambled egg with smoked salmon
L chicken leftovers, chunk cheese, chorizo meatball, handful nuts.
D Small portion of lowcarb cottage pie with cauli mash topping, brussels and broccoli, coffee and cream with 1 square dark choc (85%)
snacks: olives. total and tablespoon blueberries.

I am clinging onto my nuts and berries and choc for this one last day as I am period-y and feeling grim.

As of the morning, I shall be a saint. Of course.

MsRinky · 22/10/2012 21:01

All fruit is essentially on the no list. Berries are the least worst. Pineapple and bananas, along with most other tropical fruits are the worst, sorry.

caramelwaffle · 22/10/2012 21:17

Thank you.

Darn it!

Doshusallie · 22/10/2012 21:24

3 low carb sausages, cabbage leeks and broccolli.

Thanks so much for all menu suggestions, I have written them all down. Dinner party now postponed (thank goodness) but will deffo be making some of these in the future.

MrsHerculePoirot · 22/10/2012 21:28

Boooooo Temper - mine is about to start at any moment... I can telly the hairs on my chin!

I try to think positive and have a really strict first two weeks ready for the TTC to start again....

Lavendersbluedillydilly1969 · 22/10/2012 21:46

Captain-thank you. Can't find kale leaves anywhere round here though, will have to keep looking. I did drizzle them in oil but maybe I had the oven too high. Everyone seems to rave about kale crisps so just want to try them.

BigBroomstickBIWI · 22/10/2012 22:01

I've eaten loads today. Far more than I really intended:

B - 2 hard boiled eggs mashed with butter
L - leftover roast pork, pork 'jus', red cabbage and celeriac boulangere
D - monkfish, spread with pesto and garlic, wrapped in parma ham and baked, on a bed of creamy leeks, with asparagus and a rocket and watercress salad

Also snacked on some nuts whilst cooking tonight.

hurricanewyn · 22/10/2012 22:27

Evening all. I've eaten quite a bit today, but all low carb so, it's not too bad.

Didn't fancy breakfast today - just had a black coffee.
Lunch was crispy bacon wth mushrooms in a cream sauce. Seemed like a good idea, but was far too salty - it was filling though.
Dinner was chicken, bacon & chorizo in a cheese sauce, with fried leeks & mushrooms and cauliflower.

Hope everyone's having a good day Smile

bucksmum · 22/10/2012 22:54

2lbs off so all good. Trying day today - 90 yr old grandma admitted to hospital, and my parents are on holiday so I've been at hospital all day living on black coffee and water - tomorrow I will be prepared and take snacks!!

BigBroomstickBIWI · 22/10/2012 23:08

Sorry to hear that, bucksmum. Hope she gets well soon.

Just wanted to say I've been really enjoying being on this thread and the great group support it's been giving me. I really want us to do well! Still another 4kg until I hit my target weight.... how long will this thread keeping going? Until Christmas and then a new one starts?

BigBroomstickBIWI · 23/10/2012 06:18

That's good Smile

We're in week 4 and the plan was to run this for 10 weeks, which would take us up to around mid-December.

However, I'm sure that there will be plenty of us who want to carry on after that!

Morning losers. Are there any veggie low carbers out there or am I alone?

captainmummy · 23/10/2012 08:17

Brass - there used to be a veggie low-carbers thread. Don't know where it went, prob just got old,but it was started (I think) by suddenlyMadameGlamour - haven't seen her about for a while tho. Might still be around if you search on her name.

Veggie Low-carbing is possible. I used to be (almost) veggie and still don't really eat that much meat - even on Bootcamp it's only 3-4 times a week. There should still be a veggie low-carb reciupe thread somewhere too...

WillieWaggledagger · 23/10/2012 08:22

Yes and isn't there a low carb veggie cookbook - rose Elliot? Will google...

WillieWaggledagger · 23/10/2012 08:24
