Week 4 - Little Black Dress Low Carb Bootcamp - where the going gets tough ...

Morning all!

Come and confess all on the Spreadsheet of Wonderfulness

By now, you may be finding it tough going. The weight loss is nothing like it was in the first couple of weeks. In fact, you may even have seen the scales show a gain.

This is quite normal at this stage, as your body is shifting/has shifted into fat-burning mode, and you are now burning only fat. No more water loss. Long-term, sustainable weight loss is likely to settle at 1-2lbs per week.

By now, though, you should be more used to this WOE, and it should seem a more normal way to eat. Hopefully you've sorted out how to plan for times when you're out and about, and have a few strategies up your sleeve for the unexpected. And hopefully you are also better at knowing what does and doesn't work for you.

Here's to a good week to us all. Smile

You are worthy: bows-down-doing-the-wavey-we-are-not-worthy-thingy.

Great news Biwi, you are totally worthy Grin

I've just weighed in and barely lost anything this week but was away and TOM has arrived so wasn't expecting great numbers anyway. At least it's not a gain.

Have been struggling with dads too this week Winegless as mine is staying with me. He's on 5:2 fasting which is good (he really needs to lose weight) but keeps telling me that eating pate, salami and eggs isn't healthy and shouldn't I eat more fruit, despite me troughing green salad.... Keep trying to explain but ho hum Wink

Just realised I am 10 and a half pounds down since beginning of bootcamp Grin

debs39 · 28/10/2012 22:39

butterflies I have just done a week of this WOE combined with 5:2 and yeahhhhhh lost the pesky 4lbs that I wanted to drop...and don't crave choccy or carbs at all!!!....shall just try and maintain now...wish me luck...

I've had a bad day today, eating has been really disordered.

I cheated last night and woke up today feeling full and yicky so drank warm water with lemon till lunchtime when I had sausage, bacon and egg

Had a stressful afternoon as DS and his girlfriend were due to fly back from New York tonight but all flights cancelled so they are stranded there for the time being. Of course all the airlines helplines are shut because it's a Sunday and they are now trying to find somewhere safe to stay as hotel was only booked till today. I'm worried for them so didn't fancy tea and have just nibbled at chicken and pork scratchings (which are yuk, I really don't like the cold fat taste)

I'm now feeling a bit queazy and a bit hungry but in a don't know what to eat sort of way. Sad

NewStartSameStory · 29/10/2012 01:01

Vip - hope you have had some good news re ds and his gf and that they are safe.

Wine - effort to eat meals meant i struggled less today. thank you for asking.

b: yoghurt
brunch: 3 eggs scrambled with leek
late lunch/early tea: cottage pie meat
supper: couple of low carb sausages

not drunk enough water through. high stress day today so hoping to manage fall out tomo without resorting to cheating. have sausages, plastic cheese etc ready to pick at. might might some colslaw too.

Boobz · 29/10/2012 04:15

Congrats on your nomination Biwi - totally deserved.

And well done Butterflies - that's a great amount.

I am down only 1lb since last week, but have lost 9.6lbs in 4 weeks since bootcamp began so I'm happy. Another 10 or so to go!

Hot yoga this morning - I love it.

tartiflette · 29/10/2012 06:13

Vip I hope they get travel sorted asap (and that they found a hotel) poor you - how unsettling.

I've stayed the same this week thanks to my reunion/weekend away... I did drink copious amounts both Friday and Saturday Blush but, despite the lack of progress on the scales, I am very pleased as not a single illicit morsel passed my lips. I probably had too much cheese but since others had shopped and cooked for the weekend it could have been far worse.

Good luck to everyone else for the weigh in, I haven't caught up properly so will read through now.

MrsHerculePoirot · 29/10/2012 07:39

Well done newstart one day down, just take one day at a time...

Hurrah 3lbs down here I think - am now I think 9lbs down.

WillieWaggledagger · 29/10/2012 07:39

golly viper, hopefully they are safe for now. how daft to close all the helplines in such a situation!

WillieWaggledagger · 29/10/2012 07:58

sorry for the belated nature, but:

biggest loser of the week: AuntieMaggie
biggest loser so far on bootcamp: ShagmundFreud

and in three weeks we have lost a combined total of 301.3lb / 136.7 kg / 21st 7.3lb

Hoping for good news for viper and hurrah for biwi

Another pound down here. That's 11.5 since bootcamp began.

Extra work today so am packing some chicken and salad for lunch, and hoping the staff fridge is working too! Good luck everyone.

Viperidae · 29/10/2012 08:20

Thanks for the kind wishes, I must admit I am very worried. Apart from the fact that you would worry anyway, by the time they realised their flight would not get out the shops had sold out of torches, bottled water and much of the stuff you would want in emergencies.

I forgot about weighing this morning as. in my confused and panicked state, after very little sleep, I had a monster mug of tea first thing. I know what I weighed on Sat am (pre-cheating) so will add a bit onto that as an approximation if that's ok.

MrsHerculePoirot · 29/10/2012 08:24

Viper, dont' worry, just weigh tomorrow. Hope you hear they are all sorted soon.

Willowisp · 29/10/2012 08:59

Thanks for the feedback ref the hunger, I did have a few pig outs last week, but am pleased with this weeks no gain. I did wonder if my body was having a blip & wanting me to regain the couple of lbs I'd lost ?

Just had my dukan galette (anyone else eating it ?)
it's 1 egg,
1 heaped tbsp of soured cream/creme fraiche/other cream

  • 1 -/2 tbsp of oatbran. Apparently the oatbran swells & takes other cals ours along with it (!). I have it with generous squeeze of 1/2 lemon & 1/2 tsp swirl of agave low GI syrup. Just hits my spot & it's about 10-12 carbs.

Agree it's great using other veg, as mentioned much earlier, I am was a carrots/brocolli/parsnip girl. Now it's all onions/pepper (ok, red/yellow/orange pepper) & courgette. Must have a go at the celeriac gratin thing too.

newstart have you tried tracking what you eat on myfitness pal ? I found that a real eye opener. First with thr amount of food I wasnt registering at eating, ie crusts off dd2 sandwiches, leftovers, mouthful of something on thr way to thr school run...(not suggesting anything, just my experience) & then looking at carbs, my diet ratio was very high, around 150g a day. I found 25-30g carbs made me miserable, but am feeling good on around 50-70g. I agree the dairy maybe the problem. Would you feel comfortable swapping or avoiding ?

My dh is interested in this woe but convinced that a calorie is a calorie Hmm & exercise is the way to loose weight... Mind you he is happy to join in with my low carb lunches ! Wink

Thanks to BIWI for keeping us on straight & narrow, but especially for falling off wagon & eating choc...I think the odd blow out rocks !
