Week 4 - Little Black Dress Low Carb Bootcamp - where the going gets tough ...

Morning all!

Come and confess all on the Spreadsheet of Wonderfulness

By now, you may be finding it tough going. The weight loss is nothing like it was in the first couple of weeks. In fact, you may even have seen the scales show a gain.

This is quite normal at this stage, as your body is shifting/has shifted into fat-burning mode, and you are now burning only fat. No more water loss. Long-term, sustainable weight loss is likely to settle at 1-2lbs per week.

By now, though, you should be more used to this WOE, and it should seem a more normal way to eat. Hopefully you've sorted out how to plan for times when you're out and about, and have a few strategies up your sleeve for the unexpected. And hopefully you are also better at knowing what does and doesn't work for you.

Here's to a good week to us all. Smile

Hello (looks sheepish)
Fell off the wagon on wednesday night. Into a rather big vat of chocolate frosting (making buns for school fete). Then on the following day accidentally consumed further cake and a croissant.
So far today am fasting in effort to get back into ketosis to kill the carb cravings and hunger that have immediately returned on eating any sugar.

Lessons have been learnt! "one taste" of sugar is not possible!
Aiming for a high protein dinner and then back to usual 3 meals tomorrow. Have guests this weekend so a minefield to negotiate meal wise but planning to do my best to limit the damage for monday weigh in.

WineGless · 26/10/2012 16:36

Toomuchmonth that's exactly what mum said! Pack your thermals
Didn't get in from work until 1am - whilst they were all on kebabs I had chicken tikka and saag (spinach) was yum

Today:
B 2 boiled eggs
L tuna salad
D shepherds pie with celeriac mash for me and potato mash for the rest.

Off to find the hats ant gloves

Viperidae · 26/10/2012 16:41

Are these mini-muffin/frittatas just egg and cream with extra bits in for flavours or is there something else in them? They sound nice for the weekend.

I have just nipped into Morrisons and noticed they now sell Macadamia Nuts in 100g packs (have you noticed Sainsburys have changed theirs from 60g to 100g and doubled the price!) I bought the Morrisons ones but only checked them when I got in. Can anyone explain this please?
Sainsburys ingredients: Macadamia nuts 99%, salt.
Morrisons indredients: Macadamia nuts 98%, vegetable oil, salt.
The Morrisons ones have 10.8g carbs/100g where the Sainsburys have about 5g. Where the heck has that 5g come from?

Poppy Don't tell BIWI but I too had been building up to a planned cheat but am dithering now [hblush]

Doshusallie · 26/10/2012 17:03

Viper:

fry leftover chopped up veg
add ham/chorizo or cheese
beat 6-8 eggs with herbs and salt and pepper
divide veg in muffin cases
pour over egg
cook on 180 for 18-20 minutes

Couldn't be easier.

Doshusallie · 26/10/2012 17:10

I actually used 10 eggs and made 12 muffins........

cathyandclaire · 26/10/2012 17:38

Have been ticking along these last few days, eating boring food, meat and salad, tuna and salad, fish and salad.. but staying pretty much to Bootcamp rules. Coming back on here I realise what I've been missing so I'm going to do that braised creamy cabbage tonight. YUM!

I wandered around cheapy clothes shops with dd today and bought size 8 (yes that's an 8 Shock) skinny (yes skinny Shock [hshock]) jeans from Primark.
I have NEVER worn skinny jeans before because they make my legs look like sturdy little carrots...
£13 well spent, I think!

MrsHerculePoirot · 26/10/2012 17:48

captainmummy think your turnip dauphonaise (sp?) sounds lovely. What type of cream do you use? And is it just enough to cover the layers of sliced turnip and shallot?

DD has just had prawns and mayo as her afternoon snack today, reckon she's naturally of the low carb leaning!! Has never really liked bread or cereals, does like porridge, meat, fish and most vegetables. She does like pasta and rice of course!

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 26/10/2012 18:12

viper reporting back, made stew tonight with the Lidl stewing beef and it was absolutely lovely. Tender, no gristly bits, DH thinks its from the expensive special butcher!!

I may need a tap on the wrist from BIWI though. The stew was shallots, garlic, chilli, beef all browned in pan then into stockpot with leeks and mushrooms and stock. So far, so ok. Sadly then 3 old carrots and 2 parsnips that needed used up also went in, along with a splash of red wine and some Bisto gravy [hblush]

Ah well it was gorgeous and just what we needed to warm us up while we look out at the snow gently falling as the dark descends ....

AuntieMaggie · 26/10/2012 18:24

Still headachy so lots of water and just bacon to eat at lunch and pulled pork with coleslaw for dinner (levi roots recipe)

halfthesize · 26/10/2012 18:46

toomuch stew sounds lovely, but did I hear you say snow!! Where do you live?
Its freezing here tonight am in my pj's already[hsmile]

I am slow roasting duck legs in Chinese 5 spice, smells lovely.

Well done cathyandclaire re the jeans, bet you had a big [hgrin]

halfthesize · 26/10/2012 18:46

vnmum hope you are feeling a little better now x

WineGless · 26/10/2012 18:47

Oh god is it still coming down? At least it'll only be the last couple of hours of our 9 hour journey [hgrin]

Am going to try the turnip gratin this week- sound yum

Doshusallie · 26/10/2012 19:23

DH just opened the fridge and said he had never seen it so empty. He is right - because these days we eat everything in it before going to the shops again. Because I actually eat proper food now, cooking even just for myself, as opposed to just snacking on stupid things like before. We throw nothing away, and buy veg, meat and fridge stuff from Lidl. We must be saving a fortune.

DH is making tea - pork chops and belly slices, and roasted veg.

I am drinking white wine and will have a glass of red after. Because it is Friday and I am now on my hollybobs! We are off to Butlins in Bognor Regis on Monday for 5 days, the boys are so excited and I am packing gin. Grin

Doshusallie · 26/10/2012 19:24

Toomuch - just read your post out to DH re stewing steak, we are going to get some from Lidl tomorrow and make exactly the same meal.

WineGless · 26/10/2012 19:44

Dosh - enjoy your Hols.
At least when you are self catering you are in control of your food. We are staying with my parents for a week and no doubt there will be numerous comments made about my way of eating Hmm

Doshusallie · 26/10/2012 19:52

Catered hotel. Apart from lunch......[hsad]

WineGless · 26/10/2012 20:29

You'll have a choice though...lovely cooked brekkie just skip the carb part of evening meal and ask for extra veg. I'll just be getting lots of these Hmm

I am going for a much needed rest and suspect I will end up cooking so as not to offend. Oh well, DH and I will get a couple of nights out!

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 26/10/2012 20:29

halfthesize I am in Aberdeenshire and yes it's snowing!!

MrsHerculePoirot · 26/10/2012 20:39

I am Envy of the snow!! Will take months to get down to here...

B - bacon and egg
L - nothing I could have so I had two carrot batons from DD's lunchbox!
D - lamb, broccoli and green beans
S - pork scratchings and maybe an Atkins bar later if i fancy it!

MrsHerculePoirot · 26/10/2012 20:40

Have a lovely hols Dosh!

Doshusallie · 26/10/2012 21:01

Thanks HP! Yes you are right wine, will choose all low carb options where possible.

Tea was lovely - snacks today have been a teaspoon of peanut butter, and I "tidied up" the tub of lidl yoghurt... It's now lying nice and flat in the pot. Dh calls it my "emulsion".

2 glasses of wine tonight. Yum.

vnmum · 26/10/2012 21:41

Half thanks, yes I am feeling better. it hurt to roll on the roller but it has loosened it up quite a bit and I haven't had any pain since. I think I am going to have to roller it regularly though

Dosh Enjoy the hols Smile

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 26/10/2012 22:19

dosh cooked it for 2 and a 1/4 hours at about 170 (fan)

Enjoy your hols!

SingingTunelessly · 26/10/2012 22:41

Vnmum, woo sounds painful but I admire your resolve to sort it. Hope you feel better soon.

Dosh, two glasses of wine?! Really? I had us two down at the meet up as standing outside smoking drinking too much.

Gless enjoy holiday. Am weirdly jealous at the thought of snow. It's just freezing here in a boring sort of way.
