New thread for those of us who need a little kick every now and again. Remind me of your reasons for doing this again? I need to be a healthy weight for possibly the first time in my adult life.
We all have blips. Days, sometimes even weeks off. And the scales stay the same or even go up. But long term, you should be losing weight and learning new habits to maintain. Think of it like house prices - they fluctuate and go down as well as up (apparently they do go up!). But over a long period of time you're unlikely to regret buying a house.
welcome yoghurt :) you'll find all the support and virtual kicks up the bum you need here.

I find tuna salad good. The protein makes it filling. With balsamic vinegar rather than mayo.

Sometimes when i don't have many calories or fancy a bigger dinner i just have vegetables with gravy on! I love that. Sometimes with mint sauce as well. Might sound a bit weird but i only eat fish, not meat so have mint sauce in non lamb situations. Sometimes i do a bit of stuffing to go with it as well.

How about making some soup in batches and freezing?

I have a balsalmic vinegar spray in my handbag to add flavour on the go Poo, tuna salad sounds like a good idea for lunch

Wow! That's committed!

[wonders where i can get a spray]

Warm green beans added to the tuna salad can be good as well as a hard boiled egg, avocardo (sp), olives, beetroot, etc depending on what calories/points you have available.

Feel I should add that I'm currently on Exante so Tuna Salad is food porn at the moment Grin

I want a balsamic spray?! Where do you find such a thing?

What about lettuce wraps as well. You replace the wrap with lettuce and have your filling as usual.

Spray
I bought a spray for £3.85 at a foodie market, pricey but as its a spray you tend to use less.

What's exante?

It's a bit like a cross beween Lighter Life and slim fast. You can just use the shakes or you can have a meal too. I know it's not ideal but I have so much to shift I need to get rid of it quickly to stay on track. It's not for everyone but it seems to be working for me.

Oh i see. Do they recommend following any sort of healthy eating plan once the weight is off? My friend has done lighter life many times but goes back to eating huge plates of fried stodgy food (her nemesis) once she finishes so it just goes back on. For me the challenge is not to go back to eating 6 chocolate bars a day. (bit of an addiction . . . Low calorie hot chocolate is helping at the mo!)

Hi again- I think I added myself to the spreadsheet. Hi Oblomov, have things settled down now with your friend?

I have given myself a couple of 'freebie' days. Never mind, back on it now. My goal now is to just lose between half a pound and a pound a week until I am 9 stone 7. The next major thing I 'Have' to look good for is not until August next year I think, so I will just settle into slow steady weightloss hopefully

Yes Poo, they have various stages that ease you back into eating and making sure that you are eating healthily. It's less hardcore than LL aswell. If I had less to lose I would try WW or SW but I need to see results quickly or I wail and blame the world Grin
Once I'm down to something vaguely healthy I will go low carb low cal. I basically need to stop eating what DH does.

PooPooOnMars · 11/09/2012 11:31

That's good then. LL does seem very harsh.

My dh has been doing mfp alongside me and its been eye opening for us both to see what he can eat alongside what i can. The difference is huge!

I've explained to DH why cutting us the same size portion of cake/pie is actually not fair, as he's 8in taller and a man, so his calorie needs are more than mine.
This lunchtime I had chicken pasta bake, and felt full 2/3 of the way through it. In the past I would have pushed on and finished it, then slumped into full sleepiness, today I threw the remainder in the bin.
Would BMI be a good thing to measure on the spreadsheet too? Mine was 38, is now 34.5. It should be doable if we input height and use weight to calculate BMI.

PooPooOnMars · 11/09/2012 12:10

Ooh that's a good idea!

(again . . . Im of small build!)

MrsPnut · 11/09/2012 12:30

Thanks for the ideas.

I need to go and poke around in the kitchen for some lunch. I had 2 boiled eggs on 2 crumpets with just vegemite on them which was a nice change for breakfast.

Question: Can i make cadburys highlights with milk?
I know it would be more cals but i hate drinking things made with hot water and i want to try the halzelnut one!

Report
PooPooOnMars · 11/09/2012 12:42
