New thread for those of us who need a little kick every now and again. Remind me of your reasons for doing this again? I need to be a healthy weight for possibly the first time in my adult life.
We all have blips. Days, sometimes even weeks off. And the scales stay the same or even go up. But long term, you should be losing weight and learning new habits to maintain. Think of it like house prices - they fluctuate and go down as well as up (apparently they do go up!). But over a long period of time you're unlikely to regret buying a house.
welcome yoghurt :) you'll find all the support and virtual kicks up the bum you need here.

I use the conversion calculator on my phone.

14lbs in a st.

I have 10st 3 as 144lb (rounded up to the nearest number)

BonkeyMollocks · 11/09/2012 14:28

Oh wow, we have %'s and all sorts now!

Clever people! Grin

BonkeyMollocks · 11/09/2012 14:29

Ive just put my starting weight in and its come up 180 instead of 177 Confused

obrigada · 11/09/2012 14:31

Not sure of my weight as haven't weighed in a few weeks, have made a decision to join WW on Thursday evening so will post my weight on Friday. Have resisted joining any slimming club for a long time but am only deluding myself by thinking I can do this on my own.

BonkeyMollocks · 11/09/2012 14:39

weight conversion calculator

Its at the top of the screen. does it come out the same for you?

BonkeyMollocks · 11/09/2012 14:41

Ok, I have it! I think

In the something lost bit it goes all weird. i have lost 5lbs but its telling me I have lost 7. The numbers on my weight are what the conversion thing changed 12.9 and 12.4.

How does that work? Confused

BonkeyMollocks · 11/09/2012 14:48

OopsBlush, I just got roundly flamed for suggesting that it might be possible to lose weight by eating less and doing more exercise, silly me, thinking that my eating less, exercising more and losing weight could be linked in some way.
None of my flamers explained why it wouldn't work, they just sighed and attacked me. Does anyone here know (please, in a non-attacking way, I actually can't see where the argument falls down)

StealthPolarBear · 11/09/2012 18:17

Where was this?
The starvation mode theory is very popular - that if you eat too little your body hangs onto the cals and becomes very good at keeping the cals you do consume. Sounds good but I'm not actually convinced. I'm with you - for the majority of people who don't have health complications, eating less and moving more should lead to weight loss. Easier said than done of course :o

PooPooOnMars · 11/09/2012 18:31

Where was that?!

BonkeyMollocks · 11/09/2012 18:33

IMST I bet all those flamers, are the people who believe you can eat 5000 cals a day and still lose weight Hmm .

Eat less, move more is basic weight loss!

PooPooOnMars · 11/09/2012 18:36

Yep they're acting like dicks.

reastie · 11/09/2012 18:45

lard what a fab idea

OK, I think I've added myself to the google thing - could someone check I am officially on there and not just on the one on my computer please?

Went to the gym today at last - 450 kcals burnt - horrah Grin

IMST how dare you say such a shocking thing which obviously can't be true Wink [sarcastic]

BonkeyMollocks · 11/09/2012 18:47

Reastie I can see you.

I'm actually so tired now I cba to eat....thats a first! Shock

InMySpareTime · 11/09/2012 18:54

Thanks for defending me poopoo (it's the John Briffa MN academy course thread)

InMySpareTime · 11/09/2012 19:42

It has not been a great day at work for me. I got "volunteered" to help a poor hedgehog outside nursery. As I donned gloves I was informed that it had in fact been there for a couple of days "but it definitely moved yesterday". You've probably guessed it was not a live hedgehog, I had to pick up the corpse and put it somewhere safe (in a bush round the corner) while the nursery DCs looked on, then pretend it was still alive and had shuffled off somewhereSad. I suppose in a way it hadBlush.
Why do I get all the disgusting jobs?

StealthPolarBear · 11/09/2012 19:50

Sorry imst that has made me snigger. Did you have to make snuffly noises too, but throwing your voice of course?

OP posts:
KatoPotato · 11/09/2012 19:50

I'm finding when asked by others 'how've you done it?' and I answer 'eat less move more' they are disappointed or suspicious!

It's not rocket science, I've finally realised this! If I eat seven kitkats guess what?

InMySpareTime · 11/09/2012 19:52

I hid the MN academy witch hunt thread in the end (the first thread I've ever hidden), there was a core of posters very evangelical about their cause, they jumped on everything I said about anything. If they're representative of those attending the course, they can keep it thanks.
I put in a formula for the total group current weight, we've lost 260lb (or thereabouts)Grin yay for us!

InMySpareTime · 11/09/2012 19:55

Luckily they were out of earshot, but I had to keep my face cheerful as they all looked so expectant. It was somehow stiff and squelchy , I suspect it had been hit by a car, then kicked about a bitSad.

PooPooOnMars · 11/09/2012 19:56

Yeah its not worth it inmysparetime. They probably don't want to believe its that simple.

BonkeyMollocks · 11/09/2012 19:57

I have just read that thread and Shock.

Defensive much??!!

StealthPolarBear · 11/09/2012 19:58
