New thread for those of us who need a little kick every now and again. Remind me of your reasons for doing this again? I need to be a healthy weight for possibly the first time in my adult life.
We all have blips. Days, sometimes even weeks off. And the scales stay the same or even go up. But long term, you should be losing weight and learning new habits to maintain. Think of it like house prices - they fluctuate and go down as well as up (apparently they do go up!). But over a long period of time you're unlikely to regret buying a house.
welcome yoghurt :) you'll find all the support and virtual kicks up the bum you need here.

I think so bonkey but ikwym , I o the same, put it off and put it off then realise I'm running out of time. I want to be 11st by end of Oct (so near enough a stone off) then 10st by Christmas. seems doable but I'm not doing it.

Thanks for welcome Stealth, want to lose weight in order to look and feel healthier, am fast approaching 50 and feel about 10 years older, energy levels low. Going to use the next few days to set up a healthy eating plan starting on Saturday - am on a week off from work next week (badly needed) - and going to use that time off to kickstart a healthy regime!

Good for you :)
Right, graze box, as of Thursday. Good plan about egg, if I cut it into quarters, especially. Carrots, celery, apple. Ryvita things snapped into 4.

Welcome newbies. I forgot to say that before. Blush

I have no idea what to put in a graze box but the others have some good ideas.

I just bought some delicious satsumas for the dcs but there may not be too many left by the time they get home. How many cals in a satsuma?

Ooo only 18. They could go in a graze box too. :)

Good afternoon all! Stealth I like what you've done with the place, it looks very... Motivational!

Thanks for everyone's lovely wishes, my DH has been an absolute star and I think DS has been a welcome distraction for everyone too.

My goal is 10st for by xmas as a starter, with a target of 11st by Halloween (no particular reason) I am 11st 8 today so think it's achievable so long as I keep away from the cakes and chips and keep up my exercise schedule!

Had a meeting this morning with a colleague I've not seen since 3 stones ago! Was nice to see her reaction but again I'm rubbish at responding to compliments!

Marking place. Thanks Stealth.
Am trying to decide what my goal for Christmas should be.
I should be 9 stone, so I should aim to be under 10. Which would be an 11 lb loss. Which may indeed be achievebale for some. But as we all know, I neither gain weight, nor lose, even when I really apply myself.
So I really don't know what to aim for. Maybe 10 1/2 is more realistic.
I know you might all scoff at me only losing 4 lbs, which is what most of you lose in a week, but I wonder if it is physically possible for me to lose even that.
Off to read the rest of the thread, and the end of the old one.

StealthPolarBear · 10/09/2012 16:10

Oblomov, no one is scoffing. I tend to find I lose weight when I first start, at the moment I'm struggling to do 1lb a week. I think you have less to lose than me some of the rest of us too, so that is harder as its a bigger proportion of your overall weight.

Have read end of old thread.
Sorry for Stealth and Kato's loss.
I was errr, kind of wondering. I find it hard to keep track of who is losing. I wonder if we could have a summary, like a congratulations post, maybe once a week. Listing and thus rounding up, all those losers, who we need to encourage. Then I could see who has lost and congratulate them. Or is that not a good idea, Stealth?

Shall I make you mouth WATER Wink
We had friends over for BBQ. I made Char sui Tenderloin of pork - Hoisin sauce, 5 spice, ginger, soy, garlic. Was divine.
I also made bbq huge racks of ribs :paprika, sea salt, cayenne pepper, mustard powder, black pepper, oregano.
and ketchup, cider vinegar, honey, Worcester sauce, garlic.
I made salad: sweetcorn, beetroot, cherry toms, cucumber, spring onion.
There was minted new pots, plain new pots and green salad.

And I ate the remains for lunch today.
Trying to remember when I last ate anything bad. Has been a few days, I think.

I like the idea of stats every week to see how much everyone has lost/gained so we can support and congratulate - do we set a day (maybe Friday?) and write on here our gain/loss and then everyone who wants can copy and paste and add to the list (or do phones not do copy and paste)? [clueless]

I suggested a shared googledoc (like on MFP) but not sure who's all keen?

Report
BonkeyMollocks · 10/09/2012 17:35

I don't mind a shared google doc (no idea how to use it) but I ma up for it. may help me stay on track!.

Just had a slight wobble, ds has been invited to a pool party and I am petrified of water, he has never been swimming before. No idea what we are going to do yet. I felt the need to comfort eat, so i munched my way through a handful of grapes and I feel better! No shit has passed my lips!

Stealth and Kato I'm so sorry to hear both your news, my thoughts are with both of you and your familys, glad to see you are both still here though..

All of these losses is great, it just goes to show its our hard work and support to each other that really does the trick, so good!

Oblomov I saw your thread about the ribs, did cutting the spice bits in half help?

Welcome newbies.

yes to a googledoc or whatever

Bonkey could someone go with him? How old is he.

I think I may have started a revolution today, which wouldn't be bad if they weren't prisoners Hmm

BonkeyMollocks · 10/09/2012 18:11

I think google doc is better. Not every one is on mfp, and I only use it as a counter.

I'm going to try and get dh to take him this week so he has at least been to a pool. Problem is, the only time they can go is thurs eve after 6, which is too late really. Ds is knackered with school at the moment. Will have to play it by ear.

I am considering telling dh to take a sicky or at least finish work abit earlier so he can take him. Confused . I honestly don't think I could do it without crying Blush . I don't want ds to pick anything up from me iyswim!

Well done Milkshake ! :)

Right, I'm officially volunteering to create the googledoc. Details to follow!!! (be good to keep my fragile emotions occupied in the evenings)

I think for now if everyone posts their username and a starting weight (real or modified if you're feeling self conscious) we'll make the date effective from today :0)

Is our starting weight our fattest weight before current weight loss or our weight at the point of joining this thread?
