New thread for those of us who need a little kick every now and again. Remind me of your reasons for doing this again? I need to be a healthy weight for possibly the first time in my adult life.
We all have blips. Days, sometimes even weeks off. And the scales stay the same or even go up. But long term, you should be losing weight and learning new habits to maintain. Think of it like house prices - they fluctuate and go down as well as up (apparently they do go up!). But over a long period of time you're unlikely to regret buying a house.
welcome yoghurt :) you'll find all the support and virtual kicks up the bum you need here.

Woohoo I have wifi in Amsterdam!
There may be more beer involved than I'm used to (my parents are a baaaad influence!), and all the food seems to be chips and burgers. I am so going to pay for this weekend on the scales.

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 27/10/2012 07:06

:o
Hope you're having fun!

I am 11 and a half stone as of this morning :o I am really really going to try and rein in the eating this weekend as I'm going to try to make Monday official weigh in day

InMySpareTime · 27/10/2012 07:51

Plenty fun, a bit light on sleep though.

KatoPotato · 27/10/2012 09:54

Have a best brillso time IMST I'm sure chips and mayo are compulsory!!

InMySpareTime · 27/10/2012 17:13

I had 5 chips, lots of salad, and a ham and cheese toastie, but walked round Amsterdam from 9am-5pm, so reckon I earned it!

KatoPotato · 27/10/2012 20:13

5 chips! Your restraint and control are truly admirable! Remember coffee shops spelled with a 'c' are the naughty ones!

InMySpareTime · 27/10/2012 20:19

My mum made us walk down the red light district. It was not the erotic paradise I was promised, I've seen more erotica on the Debrnhams website, at least they look a bit happy!
Was out for dinner, still kept under 1500 cals for the day (although still some beer left in the evening).
You know, I might just make it through this weekend without putting weight on!

KatoPotato · 27/10/2012 20:33

My mum just insisted on finding a shop called Hema... It was pretty good with a mean croque Monsieur!

InMySpareTime · 28/10/2012 07:25

Sounds like you have a relatively normal mum thenSmile.
I felt sorry for my little brother and my dad, who would clearly have been much more comfortable having a pint in the pub than traipsing through the red light district with mum/wife/sisters/daughters in tow!
Home today, not too much damage so far, although it seems a lot easier to buy lager than water, so I'm massively dehydratedBlush.

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 28/10/2012 07:35

That sounds like loads of fun :o
I managed to stick to 1900 calories yesterday while not being careful and a party in the afternoon. Obviously that's not weight loss calories but I'm just pleased I managed to do that which keeps me on track and stops me bingeing.
It's my 'birthday' today (actual day is in the week but the kids will be away), hoping to do similar with maybe a slightly higher allowance. I think I'll be on track for 11 and a half by the end of the month and really don't want to mess that up

TheOneWithTheHair · 28/10/2012 08:15

Well done everyone. Sounds like you're all doing really well. I'm still a bit [hhmm] but I'm getting there. I just need a good week to spur me on. Can I steal one of yours? Grin

KatoPotato · 28/10/2012 08:40

I'd look away from my week... Far too many smarties and crisps!

Hit the gym yesterday, finally had the confidence to get up to a run on the treadmill (been scared of falling!) virtuously watched MIL abd DS scoff a McDonald's while I held out for my cabbage and bean sprout stir fry...

Why?

So j can eat Halloween French fancies and salt and chilli chicken tonight!!

InMySpareTime · 28/10/2012 12:48

You can have my good week, I'll not be using itGrin.

MilkshakeMaker · 28/10/2012 13:02

My weekend has been terrible, soon as I say out loud I'm doing alright it all goes to pot.

Toffee fudge cupcake and choc chip biscuits yday, with fajitas b cooked with too much oil and teacakes.

Then today, pastry, crisps and strawberry milkshake.

It's not good. Will start again tomo...but may not tell you if I'm sticking to it!

TheOneWithTheHair · 28/10/2012 13:15

Thanks IMST. Grin

Chin up Milkshake it's a blip and you can be honest here. Look at me.

TheOneWithTheHair · 28/10/2012 15:51

Does combatting cold make you burn calories? I live in hope.

reastie · 28/10/2012 18:09

hair for sure - if it's cold your body has to work harder to make sure you are the right temperature so you burn more calories when you're in a cold environment that's my logic and I'm sticking to it

kato I'm drooling at the thought of the Halloween festive fancies!

milkshake tomorrow is a new day. You CAN do it!

Seems my potential 3 - 4 lb loss I was predicting earlier this week has wavered to a 2lb at a push loss. Still, can't complain. I reckon another stone and I might even squeeze into some of my pre preg clothes - I'm setting myself DDs 2nd bday (in February) to hopefully have lost another stone. Hoping I'm not being too ambitious. It is about 1lb a week so I hope it's doable.

TheOneWithTheHair · 28/10/2012 18:49

Bonus!! Grin

MummifiedBonkeyMollocks · 28/10/2012 23:23

Ok, so that kick start i needed came....in illness form. Got bit rough Friday eve, yesterday was awful, today almost better.

I have lost 4lbs in two days Shock !

Not ideal but im starting to get a bit of motivation back to keep it off!

Fingers crossed i can stick with it this time!

InMySpareTime · 29/10/2012 08:17

Maintain for me this week, not bad considering!
My family noticed I'd lost weight, which was great, although I'm off to London on Wednesday, so the end of the week may be a bit tricky (my parents like their food, and beer).
I'd better get a few really good days under my belt before thenGrin.

TheOneWithTheHair · 29/10/2012 09:07

Finally!!! 1lb off. Nearly back on track. I'm so relieved. :)

InMySpareTime · 29/10/2012 09:48

Hair well doneSmile, you definitely have my good weekGrin. If so, I don't mind a week or two of maintaining to get you back on track again

reastie · 29/10/2012 11:40

Hi guys. I think I may have to take a step back from the thread for a while Sad . The low iron levels I have - apparently my iron level is only a 7 - I googled and this seems to be classed as 'severe anaemia' Confused . So I wonder if I should stop worrying about not eating things and just focus for a month or so on eating iron foods whether they be low in fat or whatever or not. I'm going to the supermarket this afternoon on the hunt for fortified breakfast cereals which are gluten free in the hope I find something, as I have to get the iron in me somehow as the iron meds are killing my stomach Confused . Hopefully I'll stick on here as I'll miss you all but I may not be a loser any time soon.

KatoPotato · 29/10/2012 11:51

Hey reastie I think its very important that you put your overall health first! I think you've really done great at re-educating yourself and making better choices that will always stay with you, so try to focus on foods that will make you feel better and forget the calorie counting!

Stick at the gym if you're enjoying it, because you've done great and you'll continue to feel better this way without worrying about the diet aspect.

Stay on the thread! you can be chief arse-booter!

Take care xxxx

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 29/10/2012 13:25

Reastie, hope you can get it sorted bit I agree, you're losing weight for your health, now you need to focus on iron levels for health, not one to the detriment of the other. Can you take supplements?
Please don't leave the thread though :)
