New thread for those of us who need a little kick every now and again. Remind me of your reasons for doing this again? I need to be a healthy weight for possibly the first time in my adult life.
We all have blips. Days, sometimes even weeks off. And the scales stay the same or even go up. But long term, you should be losing weight and learning new habits to maintain. Think of it like house prices - they fluctuate and go down as well as up (apparently they do go up!). But over a long period of time you're unlikely to regret buying a house.
welcome yoghurt :) you'll find all the support and virtual kicks up the bum you need here.

Bit of a chocolatee binge today :( but managed to keep it under some sort of control and am still under calories - just. I really want to stick with this - am in need of some major motivation.

MrsPnut · 12/10/2012 06:50

Morning, well done to all the losers.

I've lost 2lb of the 4 I put on last week but I have had a food and wine heavy week.
I have tried not to have bread for lunch this week which makes a difference, I've had pasta and tuna salad or salad leaves with ham, olives and coleslaw. Today though might be some soup and a small sandwich.

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 12/10/2012 06:59

Well done MsPnut!

Can I ask what the Monday weighers do over the weekend? I love my weekends off and don't want to stop them but really resent the fact that over the week I start by losing the weight I've gained.

Would anyone mind if I started a new thread in the next few days? If anyone else does it in the meantime that would be fine :)

InMySpareTime · 12/10/2012 07:22

Shriek there's still hundreds left on this thread, it's only at 655.
I got some unanticipated exercise yesterday carrying DS to the doctors after he twisted his ankle on the school run (running backwardsHmm). DH took him to minor injuries unit, he's fine now.I Also had to note-take at a meeting where someone got the sack, I've had better days!
Today I will stay at home and work on the computer. I will need to adjust food intake to take account of that though.

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 12/10/2012 08:19

That's true - think I need to swap to pages!
Glad your DS is better.

Hair - how's Stoptober going?

InMySpareTime · 12/10/2012 09:35

I just weighed at 11st 11! I did put my clothing as heavy, but it is (jeans, jumper, belt etc). I can't have lost 5lb in a week though, I'm due on TOTM today and feel bloated. Will update on Monday when all the weight returns. Don't know where it went thoughConfused.

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 12/10/2012 09:37

You never know! The one thing I have noticed is that the weight loss doesn't seem even - loads one week then nothng the next when both weeks are "good" weeks.
Hope you have :)

KatoPotato · 12/10/2012 09:54

It happens! It happened to me and it stayed off too! Think of it as tardy pounds you should have lost over maintain weeks!

I think we all sussed a while ago that this is a complicated science we'll never truly understand! I lost weight eating custard creams all week!

11st 3 this morning! I love Friday weighins!

reastie · 12/10/2012 15:20

Hi all

Just updated my MFP weigh in and goals and they've put me on 100kcals less a day allowance now - crap! Will have to adjust a bit as I've almost got it off to a tee what I eat now and fitting in allowance, something else will have to give!

stealth I'm weighing in on Monday and I don't really do anything different diet wise at the week end. I don't drink and never eat out anyway [boring] , so each day is pretty much the same. Infact I find it a bit easier at week ends as I have time usually to batch cook healthy stuff so can eat better at week ends.

Weight loss is odd, I agree. Some weeks I feel like I don't do anything special at all and don't go to the gym at all and I lose a couple of lbs; other weeks I try really hard and might lose 1lb if I'm lucky or else just maintain. It's really bizarre, I love having our spreadsheet though as it reminds me how I'm going the right way and am getting there slowly

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 12/10/2012 15:23

Oh that's depressing :( 100 cals is quite a lot when you're already restricted
Do you never have a day off the diet then? I couldn't do without them -maybe that's something I should be addressing

reastie · 12/10/2012 16:14

Well, I don't have a day off, but then, I don't eat as little as you all do. I do have bad days and good days and some days I eat a bit too much and others a bit less, but I never actually give myself a proper day off and eat anything I like IYKWIM. I can't remember the last time I had cake or the like Confused but I did have one of DHs chocolates a couple of weeks ago Grin . I think personally I find it easier just not to have it at all as if I have it for treats I know how nice it is and it makes it harder not to eat...I'm not sure that makes sense but it does in my head!

TheOneWithTheHair · 12/10/2012 18:21

Hi everyone.

I hope you are all doing well. I've had a couple of weeks where I haven't been as careful as I should so I'd imagine I'll have gained on Monday but I'm now determined to get back on it on Monday. I stayed away from the thread because I think I'd have just complained every day.

Stoptober is ok. It didn't go well last weekend as I had two nights out and I think it was too soon only 5 days in. It's meant this week has been a struggle with a couple of cheats but that's stopped now too and I'm feeling more positive.

I have no more nights out

I have no more nights out planned until December so that should give me a good, clear run.

Anyway, have a good weekend everyone. I'll be back on Monday and feeling motivated. :)

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 12/10/2012 18:31

Ooh if you can keep it going till December that will be brilliant

TheOneWithTheHair · 12/10/2012 18:42

Thanks SHRIIIEEEK. I'm going to give it a damn good go. :)

MummifiedBonkeyMollocks · 12/10/2012 18:45

Every time I see SHRIIIEEK I almost shriiieek! Grin

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 12/10/2012 18:47

I have had a revelation! I have been making my own salad/cheese/pasta/mayo combo, used to buy it from asda when I was at work but now I try to make my own so I can control what goes in and reduce thw cals a bit.
I have been putting grated red leicester in it, and today the grater was in the dishwaher so I used a microplane grater (the sort you'd use for parmesan or nutmeg). I got so much more cheese for my 40g allowance!
(I know I didn't, it's just grated more finely so appears more but that's part of the battle, and to stir into salad it's perfecy as it coats it more finely!)

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 12/10/2012 18:48

me too :o

MummifiedBonkeyMollocks · 12/10/2012 18:49

I do that with mayo !

I make my own coleslaw, I can control how much mayo but it goes so much further because of all the healthy crap (cabbage, oinion carrot etc) .

Also with cheese, if you use a veg peeler to 'peel' slices of cheese, they come out finer therefore you get more!

Grin
SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 12/10/2012 18:52

ye I use reduced fat mayo and less of it, I love the coating but too much doesn't add anything really

InMySpareTime · 14/10/2012 06:54

Yesterday was pretty bad diet-wise:
Bacon sandwich for breakfast.
Chicken sweetcorn sandwich and crisps for lunch, then a slice of DHs birthday cake.
Restaurant veg lasagne and garlic bread, and half a beer for dinner.
Almost 1800 cals, I only got away with it through spending the whole day moving theatre set round the set store (it was all day but I put it as 2 hours in MFP as the numbers were getting silly).
I also bought a load of fabric in town to make my storytelling coat, a story blanket, and some puppets.
Today will be less exercise but a lot less food!

TheLightPassenger · 14/10/2012 12:14

hello, sorry I've been awol, have had a stressful few months, so been phoning it in lately, most days sticking to the cals but not doing enough exercise, so am a few pounds heavier, 12st 6/7. Want to start the New Year at no more than 12stonr 3.

TheOneWithTheHair · 15/10/2012 08:08

Morning everyone. I was working until 4 last night and then ds2 had a very disturbed night (even for him) and it looks like his temperature from yesterday has persisted so no nursery.

I don't know when I'll be able to catch up on some sleep and I can feel the chocolate craving kicking in already. However I promised myself I would restart my diet today and I will. At least I will have some company for my lunch time soup. :)

I'll weigh in after I've taken dd to school and report the damage done over the last two weeks. [scared]

MummifiedBonkeyMollocks · 15/10/2012 08:16

Good luck ThrOne!

Also completely knackered over here. I think I had 90 mins solid sleep.

Back to bed for me once ds is dropped off. At least whilst Im sleeping I can't eat Grin

Happy motivational Monday all!! :)

reastie · 15/10/2012 08:43

Hi all

Boo to all the lack of sleepers - it really makes such a difference to everything including appetite when you've had some decent sleep doesn't it

Barely lost 1lb this week - not good going Confused . But, still got 9 weeks to lose 8lbs for Christmas so hopefully I can still do it. Think that stupid fasting blood test which made me so hungry I ate too much afterwards wasn't to help things. Must get to the gym more though, I'm barely managing once/twice a week at present as our week ends have been taken up with getting various home improvements organised/planned - we spent over 2 hours in homebase yesterday having our kitchen planned, all very exciting but also slightly daunting.

hair hope stoptober is going OK
