New thread for those of us who need a little kick every now and again. Remind me of your reasons for doing this again? I need to be a healthy weight for possibly the first time in my adult life.
We all have blips. Days, sometimes even weeks off. And the scales stay the same or even go up. But long term, you should be losing weight and learning new habits to maintain. Think of it like house prices - they fluctuate and go down as well as up (apparently they do go up!). But over a long period of time you're unlikely to regret buying a house.
welcome yoghurt :) you'll find all the support and virtual kicks up the bum you need here.

I couldn't be bothered to count the junk-infested local paper, so I ran up and down the stairs 10 times as an estimate.

reastie · 20/09/2012 15:49

eighty I think I could beat DD, but then she's 19 months Grin

I did 30 squats today in the junk mail challenge DD laughed at me

InMySpareTime · 20/09/2012 16:00

There's no way I could beat DS on foot, he's really fast (he did a 2.5km run in under 11 minutes) I am faster on a bike though.

TheOneWithTheHair · 20/09/2012 16:00

eighty if it's double stairs then twice I reckon.

I can beat ds2 because he's 3yrs old.
I can just beat dd if I put my mind to it. She's 8.
No way I'm even going to try against ds1. He's 16 and fast and I was never good at running!! Grin

KatoPotato · 20/09/2012 17:40

I had to do 20 squats (in tight jeans)

TheOneWithTheHair · 20/09/2012 19:16

Sounds painful kato but well done!! Grin

LollipopViolet · 20/09/2012 22:29

Went to the gym today. Did do the treadmill but upped the speed a fair bit. Then did lots of weights Grin

I hurt now, and have to help sort the spare room tomorrow :( Climbing the stairs will be fun.... NOT!

InMySpareTime · 21/09/2012 06:38

Good morningSmile,
Today I am handing my notice in at work, giving up nursery nursing to be a storyteller. I have no idea if it will work, but it's what I love doing, I'm good at it, and if I play my cards right I can find a way to get people to pay me for it.
I managed to squeak under calories yesterday despite going to a freshers' week social and drinking a "sex on the beach" and 2 pints of beer. I felt so old there, when I went to University, they weren't even at primary school, they are closer in age to my DS than to meSad.

MrsPnut · 21/09/2012 06:42

Morning
You all sound like you've been very energetic, hopefully lots of fat will have been burnt off.
I've weighed this morning and lost a pound, I'm a bit disappointed but I've had wine and chocolate twice this week because I'm feeling so sorry for myself.

Hope you're all big losers this week :o

MrsPnut · 21/09/2012 06:44

Good luck IMST, I hope you manage to make storytelling a success.

My best friend and I were celebrating our 20th anniversary of meeting in the 6th form this year, we're starting to feel old.

StealthPolarBear · 21/09/2012 06:52

Morning everyone. Good luck imst.
Am losing motivation a bit. Just feels difficult to get imvolved in it. I've not eaten too much over my limit yesterday but my hearts not in it.

TheOneWithTheHair · 21/09/2012 07:09

Good luck IMST.

Well done MrsPnut.

Stealth if you are eating around the right calories but your hearts not in it then it shows you've learnt something about the way you need to eat. You are so close to your target that it would be madness to stop now. Just keep doing what you're doing until you feel ready to give it that big Christmas push. :)

Friday weigh in!

It's a maintain... which is terrific considering I've missed the gym and bodypump this week and eaten a whole lotta rubbish!

Onwards and up and all that!

TheOneWithTheHair · 21/09/2012 11:11

Well done Kato. :)

Well the junk mail just arrived. I got off easy with none yesterday and ended up with 7 today. My legs hurt by the end! Shock

InMySpareTime · 21/09/2012 13:04

I got 5 earlier, no problem running that. There may be more on the mat now though.
Today I have joined the 21st century and got a Facebook page, and one for the business "short story lady" ssh, don't say I plugged it here I'm very excited about it, but it's all coming together really fast now, there's so much to doGrin

reastie · 21/09/2012 14:06

Hi all

stealth honestly - you have done amazingly - you've lost so much. You are someone that we all look up to with how amazing you have done. So you're having a rough time and don't feel like you're hearts in it - don't give up you'll get that motivation back in time and you will get where you want to. It is a long hard journey and it can feel like we're fighting a losing battle, but think of how much you've lost - you've lost more than the amount of fats and oils the average american eats in an average year Shock and also more than an elephants willy according to the page I linked to a while ago [snigger]

IMST I tried stalking finding you on fb but no lady of such a name existed (but then I'm a technology luddite) . Good on you doing what you want to do. I didn't even know such a job title existed Blush . FWIW our local garden centre have special childrens story reading once a month and charge for it and it includes a childrens lunch in their cafe - if that's something you could try to organise if you have anywhere like that which may want to start up such regular events.

Haven't been to the gym all week and been OK with food - no binges, but then no great days either. I think I might end out just maintaining this week, but I'll live in hope of a small loss. Feels like I have such a long way still to go....but focusing on the immediate future if I can do 1 lb a week every week between now and christmas that will be nearly a stone.

KatoPotato · 21/09/2012 14:18

reastie thanks for the motivation! I've maintained and while this is no surprise I've still felt a bit huffy!

But you're right, I lost 2lbs last week so i'm going to take that ilb in lieu of this week! 1 lb a week is still good!

InMySpareTime · 21/09/2012 16:24

reastie no speech marks, just Short Story Lady, it has a picture of a feathered troll.

MilkshakeMaker · 21/09/2012 18:21

Hello ladies. I'm back from my hols early Sad however i've been itching to get back to it all week so every cloud I suppose.

I havn't read the last few days worth yet but judging from the last few posts I've missed out on a new game?!

Glad to see everyone is sticking to it, I'm planning on a mini weigh in in the morning just to size up the damage and will have caught up with the thread by then too.

Happy Friday Everyone!

TheOneWithTheHair · 21/09/2012 18:52

Welcome back Milkshake. Hope there is not too serious a reason you're back early.

Really simple game to get you moving. For every piece of junk mail you get through the door you have to run up and down the stairs twice. If you don't have stairs you do five squats.

8020 I think in a mirror you choose your pose, not so in a photo.
Photos show how other people see you, the mirror shows how you see yourself.
I have the same issue as you, my perception filter means I imagine myself as thinner and taller than I am in photos.
I often look at photos and think "people look at that and call it my name?"
