another motivational monday, another reason to continue

New thread for those of us who need a little kick every now and again. Remind me of your reasons for doing this again? I need to be a healthy weight for possibly the first time in my adult life.
We all have blips. Days, sometimes even weeks off. And the scales stay the same or even go up. But long term, you should be losing weight and learning new habits to maintain. Think of it like house prices - they fluctuate and go down as well as up (apparently they do go up!). But over a long period of time you're unlikely to regret buying a house.
welcome yoghurt :) you'll find all the support and virtual kicks up the bum you need here.

Afternoon all. You've been having a good old chinwag this morning haven't you?
Grin

Well I went to my classes and I know I will feel it tomorrow. Bonus is that I walked there and back too.

It did make me so hungry though and I've just had a jacket potato, cheese not that much and beans. No butter. I'm so confused about calories and low carb etc that I have no idea if that's high calorie or low. Help please. :)

slothprincess · 17/09/2012 13:23

Hullo all,

Nice to read back at some of the successes people have had over the past couple of days. Horaay for exercise classes, smaller clothes, rings that fit and lower numbers on the scales. I'm riding on the coat tails of your success but feeling the power of a motivational monday.

I go back after mat leave on weds :( I need to pack a little stash of healthy, low GI snacks to nibble on during the working day, to keep me awake and stop me buying chocolate. I'm thinking peanut butter, oatcakes, almonds. Any other suggestions??

InMySpareTime · 17/09/2012 17:41

Pitta bread
Olives
Cherry tomatoes

StealthPolarBear · 17/09/2012 17:48

pickled onions good for savoury craving

I'm in a bit of a dilemma - I've just put my dinner in MFP and I'm on just over 600 cals today - shall I cut my bread portion down a bit and do the 5:2 thing?

TheOneWithTheHair · 17/09/2012 18:44

Only if you think you won't get hungry and snack later.

It was ok for me I think today. I've not stopped moving so that has to count for something! :)

Has ds enjoyed his birthday IMST?

TheOneWithTheHair · 17/09/2012 18:44

Oh and IMST are you on an early or late shift tomorrow?

StealthPolarBear · 17/09/2012 19:00

I had some of my Aunt's pasta salad as no one else wanted it. It had loads of veg in it but it was pasta, and has pushed me well over the 500 limit, but was worth it :) I'm currently on 730 cals.

BonkeyMollocks · 17/09/2012 19:03

Evening,
I'm have had 2 crumpets with 2 eggs -400 cals

A homemade fresh banana milkshake (which may well become my new diet food of choice!) for 182 cals

Providing i can stick 582 cals is bloody good for me at the moment!

LollipopViolet · 17/09/2012 19:09

You know I promised a photo of me at my friend's wedding?

Here it is!

MumOfAPickle · 17/09/2012 19:49

Evening ladies, been a busy week-end but weighed in this morning and I'd lost 1lb! So hurrah! So back on it for this week but had cake for breakfast this morning Blush It's my DD's 2nd birthday on Thursday so had a little party this morning then we're out for dinner Thursday & then a bigger family party on Sunday. Basically if I get through this week without putting on any weight it will be a miracle so I need you lot to make sure I'm super good on the days when I can be.

Can I ask how you all deal with special occasions? Are good? Do you say fuck it? And if you do eat cake or whatever do you record it all or just record up to your limit and forget the rest Grin

slothprincess · 17/09/2012 20:05

Thanks for your snack suggestions.

I've had a good day as a 2 different people have commented on me looking slim. I haven't actually lost any weight since I'd seen them last probably put on to be completely honest but it was very nice to hear. I'm sure it was down to the fact I bought some new clothes at the weekend and I was also fitted for new bras! After reading a thread on here, I went to Debenhams rather than M&S. What a revelation! I'll never go back to M&S ever again.

Lollipop you look fab!

Pickle, I find it easier to get back on track the next day if I've recorded my excess on special occasions. It's often not as bad as I think but even if it is, somehow it helps me keep focus by recording it.

PooPooOnMars · 17/09/2012 20:09

Looking lovely lollipop Smile Who's the chap?

LollipopViolet · 17/09/2012 20:13

The chap is my lovely boyfriend of nearly 11 months :)

PooPooOnMars · 17/09/2012 20:23

Ooh-oh! Smile

MumOfAPickle · 17/09/2012 20:33

TheOneWithTheHair · 17/09/2012 21:07

Must interrupt to say I've lost the equivalent of an average house cat and I'm now UK on the global fat scale. Grin

Lollipop you look lovely in that picture and so does your bf.

Well done everyone who lost today!!

LardBean · 17/09/2012 21:27

Well done everyone who lost this week. I really need to get off my arse exercise wise. I vowed to swim 3 times this week... not squeezed the lard into lycra yet....

marriedinwhite · 17/09/2012 21:38

Phew 1/2lb down but I didn't eat today Blush. You looked lovely Lollipop.

sleepychunky · 17/09/2012 22:12

Well done everyone else who lost this week - I sort of wish weigh-in was Tuesday as I do zumba on Monday night which always make the scales very friendly on a Tuesday!
The DSs decided they wanted to weigh themselves after their bath tonight and I realised that if I lose another stone then I will have lost an entire DS2! Considering how heavy he is to carry (he's 2.10) that's quite a target but it's given me something else to aim for although, thinking about it, by the time I've lost another stone he will probably have put on weight so I will be on a constant race to catch up

InMySpareTime · 17/09/2012 22:31

Hair late shift, and DS had a great birthday. We went to Giraffe for dinner, they gave him a huge sorbet for pudding, he actually looked full!
He loved the cake, noticed all the details and everythingGrin.
I'm still getting my head round the fact my little boy is 11 though Shock

TheOneWithTheHair · 17/09/2012 22:44

Awww. It sounds great IMST. No sympathy for 11yrs as I have one of 16 now!! Grin

MrsPnut · 18/09/2012 06:52

Morning, I have read back but I've got my head up my arse at the moment and haven't got time to reply to everyone.

I started work yesterday for the first time in a few months, and after a lovely summer, woke up with a really sore throat yesterday morning.
My voice is going and I can feel the rivers of snot starting. :(
I did eat pretty well yesterday, I took only healthy food to work and had dinner but no snacks then was in bed by 7pm.

InMySpareTime · 18/09/2012 07:28

Good morning
Busy day yesterday, TOTM (great start to the dayHmm)
early shift at work, went to the bike shop on the way home to collect DH's mudguards, time for a cup of tea then out for dinner for DS's birthday. Got back at 8, then straight out again to bible study group.
Is it any wonder I was singing "I don't like Mondays" on the way back from it?
At least I was careful with food, I had a small lunch so I could have a quesadilla for dinner.

StealthPolarBear · 18/09/2012 08:20

Hi everyone :) MrsPNut, hope you're feeling a bit better soon
