Here is the new, shiny thread. Only three weeks or so to go until we swing into really strict mode!

Hello, I come in search of solace. Hope that's ok. I was semi-low carbing from about June and went down from around 12st 3 to 11st 10 and then read John Briffa's book and did it more seriously during July and August and lost another 9lbs or so, fairly easily. For the last month or so though I seem to have been stuck going up and down around 11 stone - 11 stone 1 (one glorious day I hit 10 st 13.8, only to go back up the next day). I feel as if I've been stricter than ever - loads of water, no nuts, not much cheese or dairy, so am getting disheartened. Maybe I'm not doing enough exercise - I swim fairly hard for an hour a week, but apart from that it's dog walking etc.

I'm really happy generally with this woe - I feel better and my body shape has improved so much. I have lost my craving for sweet things -we actually have chocolate in the house and I'm not eating it. I just wonder if I'm going to be totally stuck - or if it's realistic to want to lose the extra half stone that I'd like to - I'm 5ft 9.

I've experimented a bit with IF and probably don't eat breakfast around 4 days a week. I have done a couple of 24 hour fasts, but I don't really want to do it regularly as it felt like hard work.
I'd welcome any other experiences. Has anyone else been stuck for 3-4 weeks and then lost weight again. Maybe I should expect to lose it very slowly and accept this, or maybe I should be doing something else.
I definitely want to do bootcamp - maybe that'll help - but I'm pretty much following the rules already.

I'm a blonde alcoholic detective!
However I think I need to go under cover now

SingingTunelessly · 22/09/2012 07:44

Morning!

lily honestly there are so many of us who've had a stall with weight loss usually lasting a few weeks so don't despair. It sounds like you are doing everything right so hopefully you'll get a "whoosh" as we call it and drop soon. Smile The less you've got to lose the harder it is as well don't forget. If you're still struggling maybe post a day's eating to see if there's something there but doesn't sound like it tbh.

SharonGless · 22/09/2012 07:58

Morning
What are we all up to today?
DS has party this morning so Dd and I will have to stay will him. He has separation anxiety which we are managing but went into melt down when I suggested leaving him Hmm
The he has a friend to play this afternoon so should keep him occupied. Just dd to keep happy.
Just about to start cooking bacon, egg and mushrooms for me.

Lily, we have all had a stall of 3-5 weeks. Its pretty common and if you stick with it you should see whoosh

SingingTunelessly · 22/09/2012 08:45

Ahhh Sharon my DS used to suffer like that. Mind you he's at Uni now and still gets homesick!

We've got a family gathering at a lovely restaurant this afternoon to celebrate my sister's birthday. So I'm definitely off plan today as there will be copious amounts of sparkly around. Smile

Hope everyone has a good day. Weather is glorious here as well.

MrsHerculePoirot · 22/09/2012 08:46

Hmmm think my scales need new batteries. Either that or I really have lost a stone overnight. Then two stone, then three stone when I tried to check!!!! Was interesting though, seeing lower numbers inspired me this morning to actually weigh that...

hillyhilly · 22/09/2012 08:59

I'm stuck too. Sticking at it as its not hard but this will be week three with no loss desire a decent (not 100% Grin) effort.
Maybe next week my long awaited period will come and the lbs will drop off!

hillyhilly · 22/09/2012 09:00

That should read despite not desire Blush
Though I do desire seeing less on the scales

EyesDoMoreThanSee · 22/09/2012 09:02

MrsHP my scales do that too! And it is inspiring.

I am working until early afternoon then taking DD on a playdate to wear her out.

Breakfast will be bacon, eggs and mushrooms, lunch will be soup and maybe a babybel, then dinner is lamb kebabs with salad.

Thegoddessblossom · 22/09/2012 09:34

Another one here that's had bacon eggs and mushrooms for brekkie.

I am currently watching ds2 have his swimming lesson, then I am going to be at home trying to find space for all the deliveries I have had having found that Christmas bargains thread. Then ds2 has gymnastics, then we have a 40th party tonight.

Sharon...I have in mind a female police detective from a series of novels by the bird that wrote prime suspect....will google it.

halfthesize · 22/09/2012 10:01

Morning all

Well bloss my tea was the same as yours pork scratchings and wineBlush

princess I really hope things improve, my ds2 is a nightmare food wise, I have had to step back a little, take the emotion out of it, I found every meal time a battle!
So now I just put out what I have done and if he doesn't eat he doesn't. However he is only 3 and I did consult my GP. They said he is healthy and some children just do not want or need as much food. I have found he seems to eat big breakfasts and loves lunch but not keen on hot food(he wont eat meat or fish) Good luck x

Have a fab afternoon singingSmile

hurricanewyn · 22/09/2012 12:09

Morning all.
Bacon & eggs here too Smile

princess - my brother was the same & my mam gave him complan milkshakes to help build him up. Took the pressure out of mealtimes.

I had two biscuits yesterday because I was too lazy to walk to the canteen. It's 70g o carbs yesterday - please reassure me I haven't undone a week's worth of good work?

NigellasGuest · 22/09/2012 12:21

Breakfast:
frozen raspberries (only 3 or 4) whooshed up in some Total, double cream and coconut oil. Really delicious! it goes nice and thick, like mousse consistency. Added a splash of vanilla essence too.

ItsNotUnusualToBe · 22/09/2012 15:42

Hi there. I'm a semi committed low carber. I aim to stick to the BootCamp Light rules but I don't beat myself up mentally (or physically) for a couple of mini slips a week. I've had a about 3 major falling off-plan incidents in that time.

I followed the Dukan diet for 3 months before I had DC4 and the results were fantastic but it's a less sustainable than the Bootcamp light rules.

I've lost a stone and a half in the last 2 months. I aim to exercise 3 times a week (Zumba and pilates - great for toning up).

I'm hopeless at posting online as I usually Mumsnet from my phone so I'm a reader / lurker rather than prolific poster.

Keep up the good work folks.

vnmum · 22/09/2012 15:54

sharon A bit corny and not quite a detective but how about Juliet Bravo? Smile

No breakfast, had a much needed lie in thanks to DH. Leftover lasagne for lunch and bbq tonight (making the most of the last bit of sunshine)

TellMeLater · 22/09/2012 16:28

I've just made a lovely 3 min low carb choc cake and served it with low carb creme anglais - it's on it's way to becoming ice cream as soon as it cools down. Yum! Not strictly bootcamp with artificial sweeteners but really hit the spot!

SingingTunelessly · 22/09/2012 17:26

Hurricane, don't fret just put it down to experience and drink, drink, drink the water!

Jane Tennison. Seem to remember she was a blond detective who liked a drink.

captainmummy · 22/09/2012 19:03

I just want to say to the poster who recommended Lidl greek yoghurt 'Thank you very much' in my best Margo Leadbetter voice - because I now buy about 4 tubs of the stuff a week! It comes in 1000g tubs and is 1/4 the price of Total, and is tottally fab! the whole family loves it!(and only 3g/100g carbs)

But the girls on the Lidl checkout do look at me funny

PrincessSparkle86 · 22/09/2012 19:14

Evening all Smile

Thank you all for your comments... Its nice to hear other people opinions Smile
DS has been brill today... I took the crispy layer off his lasagne and chopped it up for him, he ate that with boiled carrot sticks, then he followed that by a rocket lolly... Then 2 cakes and THEN a kitkat chunky! Ive never seen him put away so much, hes just tucking into a toastie and milkshake now.. So i know he CAN eat.

Today i've had:

Lunch: lasagne and carrots
Dinner: southern fried chicken breast with romain lettuce, cucumber, some grated parmesan and a bit of salad cream! At the moment im drinking coke instead of snacking :/ im still stressed but i dont want to reach for snacks anymore!!

MrsHerculePoirot · 23/09/2012 01:04

Princess that'll good news about your DS!

Thegoddessblossom · 23/09/2012 09:43

Dinner party at friends last night so food was a bit out of my hands. Ate the Thai green curry but left the rice, but did eat the strawberry eton mess and did drink copious amounts of red wine, and eat peanuts.

Brekkie today Greek yoghurt. Must get to lidl.

BIWI · 23/09/2012 09:57

Heading home shortly (please keep the M1 traffic -free!) and am glad - although sad to leave my dad. Food choices gave been awful, although also lovely Wink. I need to get myself back on track very quickly.

Well done, Bloss, it's hard at someone's house isn't it? Neris and India say bett to be rude than break diet but I don't agree. We were out layst night at posh pub, but I ate mainly low carb. Half slice bread (for pâté), some pudding wine and a spoonful of husband's panda cotta did find a way in though. Feel ok but tired today. Lots of water!

have a great day everyone.

sybilfaulty · 23/09/2012 10:01

Panda cotta? Bloody iPad!
