Here is the new, shiny thread. Only three weeks or so to go until we swing into really strict mode!

What I'm considering is simply dropping breakfast every day, but on days when I go to the gym, having something like eggs or yoghurt on my return.

Not eating breakfast is something I always used to do anyway, in the years when I was thin! When I'm back after this weekend I might give it a go.

Sharon - I hope you're feeling better today. I can't imagine what you & your colleagues are going through right now.

Biwi - I'd go with what feels right for your body. You'll ssoon know if fasting before working out isn't right for you.

Today I've had:

B celery & peanut butter
L smoked salmon pate
D stir fry with miracle noodles & left over pork

I weighed this morning & I've lost another 2lbs - that's a new stone for me. Yay!

vnmum · 19/09/2012 18:57

hurricane thats great.
BIWI DH is dissapointed as he wanted to get out there to do his job. The extra money would have been handy especially for xmas but at least i know he will be safe and the DC won't have to deal with him being away for their birthdays and xmas.

halfthesize · 19/09/2012 18:58

vnmum & BIWI I also always go to the gym on fast, have loads of energy too, but have to have a high protein lunch straight after, my PT recommends this.

Good news re DH vnmumSmile

Well done hurricanewyn thats fab Grin

Dinner tonight is pork chops with veg and melted cheese.

SharonGless · 19/09/2012 20:55

Evening all,
Feeling slightly better today although still pretty raw. Thanks for all the good wishes - it means a lot.

B: boiled egg
L: Bacon, mushrooms and fried egg (my lovely sis met me for lunch before work to give me a hug)
D: cauliflower cheese and chicken drumsticks
S: handful of brazil nuts

So a good day on the eating and exercise front.
I enjoyed going to the gym this morning and got the list of classes. Not sure about Zumba just yet.
hazchem when do you fly? This must be really emotional for you although exciting too

Thegoddessblossom · 19/09/2012 21:23

Snacks: 8 brazil nuts and a slice of ham

Tea was steak with creamy peppercorn sauce, roasted onion, tomatoes, green peppers

Hi all, I have just joined the LBD thread :)

I was on the original bootcamp thread (have changed nickname since) and have been loosely low-carbing since, I lost quite a bit of weight (8kg) although rather slowly (but I don't mind that).

However I've been getting rather too relaxed with regard to eating carbs, for instance today started well with a boiled egg for breakfast, some courgette and green tomato slices fried in butter and a couple of rashers of bacon. Then I had a square of 85% chocolate with my post-lunch coffee. So far so good! It all went a bit downhill from there: my DD came home with some chocolate rice Krispies bite thingies she made at school and I had about 3 of them, and for dinner I couldn't resist having a couple of spoons of couscous with my lamb tagine.

I'm hoping joinging you will help me get back on the right path! :)

BIWI · 19/09/2012 21:44

Sounds like LBD will be coming along just in time!

You're not wrong there BIWI! I feel all bloated now :( That'll learn me not to eat wheat....

BIWI · 20/09/2012 08:16

Happy to report that I'm back down to 9 stone 9 1/2lbs this morning. So 24lbs down for me since I started. So it looks like I'm finally past my sticking point of 9.11-9.13.

I'm looking forward to LBDBC to help get me closer to that magic 9 stones!

I exercise fasted as well. Makes me feel quite sick if I try to work out after food, even if I give it a good while afterwards. Not that I'm exercising at all at the moment. I've done something bad to my neck and the pain radiates all down my arm and I'm getting pins and needles in my fingers! Think it's better to rest that.

Good news that your husband isn't going after all vnmum. It must feel quite strange though when you've both been planning and getting ready for it though.

Really sorry about your colleagues Sharon. So sickeningly senseless. :(

GoldenOrangeWhippoorwhill · 20/09/2012 08:23

Ha, too many though's in that sentence. :)

BIWI · 20/09/2012 08:25

I would get yourself to an osteopath with that, if you can, Whippoor. I get that sometimes, and osteopath treatment is the only thing that releases it.

MrsHerculePoirot · 20/09/2012 08:53

I can confirm fastIng is not for me. I just obsess about eating and then eat a load of rubbish as I get too hungry. For me really listening to my body and eating when I'm hungry but before I feel starving is much better. On non work days this is usually a late breakfast and then early ish tea.

Despite not being fully back on track, but making some changes in the right direction I'm back to only half a lb above my pre-holiday weight. Hopefully that is the motivation I needed to now throw myself back into it wholeheartedly!

kaumana · 20/09/2012 09:23

Hi all, I've been following this thread for new ideas as I've been low carbing for a while (lost a stone).

Can I ask where you get the miracle noodles (konjac) from? I've searched everywhere, I can find them online but they seem a tad expensive at about £3 each or is that the norm?

WillieWaggledagger · 20/09/2012 09:36

MrsHP i'm the same... i have developed the most appalling eating behaviours in the past that actively fasting (rather than just skipping a meal at the prescribed time because i don't feel ready to eat) would i think be pretty dodgy for me

fully accept that for many people it's great, and i may try it out (a long way) in the future, but for now i'm happy

BIWI · 20/09/2012 09:40

kaumana - welcome! I buy mine from a local Korean supermarket - see if you have any kind of Asian supermarket near you and check them out.

Or they're much cheaper if you buy online

OP posts:
kaumana · 20/09/2012 10:13

BIWI Thanks, I'll go and hunt round the Asian markets round here, if not that's a great link!

teaandthorazine · 20/09/2012 10:18

Sharon - so sorry, how awful for you and your colleagues Sad

Well, after my whingefest earlier this week, have had some good news [yay]!

a) got the job Grin
b) not only did I get an A in the assignment but apparently mine was also the top score (percentage-wise) in the cohort Grin

Have only given verbal acceptance of the job so far, as need to clarify salary matters to ensure that increased travel costs aren't going to actually leave me poorer than I am now! But, the thought of a life with regular hours, no random shifts, no nights, no 24-hour on-calls and no weekend working is sooooooo exciting... I'll be sad to leave my lovely colleagues at work but I won't be sad to see the back of 3am callouts!

So I feel a bit better about the world today! Also back on track with this WOE and that always improves things wrt mood swings... Yesterday was:

b: protein shake, spoonful of coconut oil
l: tuna and cheese salad with pesto
d: greek yog with a few strawberries (too overexcited about work to eat properly)

Today so far - coffee with cream

BIWI · 20/09/2012 10:21

Woo hoo! Brilliant news, tea - well done Grin

EyesDoMoreThanSee · 20/09/2012 10:31

Been out of the loop a few days due to another D&V bug hitting me on Tuesday. Has to be said they are a hell of a way to lose weight quickly

waves to people

hillyhilly · 20/09/2012 11:58

I'm still sticking to it but have my usual problem of constipation!! I have been trying to guzzle water but as I walk a lot and school runs take a while I'm reluctant to drink too much too close to when I'm going out! I had 12 prunes yesterday and just had another 6 so hopefully something will shift soon.
I bought senna ages ago but keep making excuses not to use it eg this morning went straight to gym from school, and I'm a bit scared of getting caught out and about when the earth finally does move!!
I've not lost any weight for the past two weeks but surely if I could only poo that'd get rid of a bit!!!
Sorry if tmi Blush anyone else suffering this way?

TellMeLater · 20/09/2012 12:00

Well done tea fingers crossed the salary they offer is generous, but you can (should) always ask for more - have a story pieced together about why you need more/are worth more - so if it happens unexpectedly over the phone you are ready for it.

TellMeLater · 20/09/2012 12:01

hilly how much veg are you eating - I think maybe not enough, eat more green veg and drink more water, and you should be sorted within the week.

vnmum · 20/09/2012 12:17

Great news tea
golden hope your neck gets better soon
