Here is the new, shiny thread. Only three weeks or so to go until we swing into really strict mode!

Wtf was electrolytegate?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 18/09/2012 22:02

I am possibly the most minimal poster on this thread, so sorry Sharon

BIWI · 18/09/2012 22:04

AuntieMaggie - it was a rather odd personal attack on me. No need to go into the details, but it was very much at odds with the whole ethos of these threads.

OP posts:
Thegoddessblossom · 18/09/2012 22:08

Yes that was a most odd explosion of vitriol that no one saw coming.

Oh ok, I'll tell you what I had for tea, yes all right, stop nagging, I was just coming to it.....

Roast pork belly, with broccolli, and leeks. Yummy. One coffee with cream.

WillieWaggledagger · 18/09/2012 22:10

Oh gosh Sharon you poor thing. It's horrible to hear about let alone be close to those involved. Take care of yourself

AuntieMaggie · 18/09/2012 22:16

Someone dared to do that Shock

only joking Wink

I think these threads are great and everyone is so nice and supportive.

I have just realised I have a party the first weekend in October though... I can do without alcohol most of the time but don't think that will be one of those times!

I'm sts at the mo which is ok with me as I've had the odd naughty bit like half a snickers at the weekend and I think I'm probably eating too much cheese because my tastebuds have changed so much I've gone off loads of stuff especially strong flavours like salami.

TellMeLater · 18/09/2012 22:44

I have a dilemma....I want to join you guys in the lbd bootcamp thread, otherwise I'll be lonely Sad but I also want to fast 2 days a week, skip breakfast occasionally and drink alcohol - can give up dairy, nuts & fruit - is that enough to qualify? Will I be booted out of bootcamp for being crap with the rules before we've even started?

queribus · 19/09/2012 07:40

Ooops! Had wine last night - DH has been offered a great new job, so we had a couple to celebrate.

B - eggs, smoked salmon
L - salad, more smoked salmon and avocado
D - pork meatballs, spinach and courgettes

Onwards and upwards ...

SharonGless · 19/09/2012 08:23

Queribus - onwards and downwards!
Tellmelater- all welcome. Just tell BIWI you are doing Bootcamp light and you might get away with it.
I managed to sleep last night in a sort of wine induced coma. I think it really hit me as I was threatened with a firearm
Early in my career and it made md think - there but for the grace of God.

Anyway it's a new day and DH signed me up to his gym last night so have had a boiled egg mashed with mayo and will go after school run. Am on lates today so need to stop on way to work and buy LC supplies so am not tempted after the last two days

NigellasGuest · 19/09/2012 09:00

sharon just been reading back over the thread, thinking of you and all your colleagues

Jacaqueen · 19/09/2012 09:43

Hope you have a good day Sharon.

This thread is magical I tell you. I have been back posting for two days and I have lost 2lbs! Maybe if I hadn't gone AWOL for the summer I would be another stone down by now. Oh well lesson learnt there.

hazchem · 19/09/2012 09:47

Sharon I'm so sorry for your loss it must be a distressing time for your squad. My thoughts are with you, your team and the families of those brave woman.

I'm 2 pounds down but not had a good food day yesterday. Shippers are coming tomorrow and I'm feeling tired and overwhelmed by what is left to do. I'm feeling quite sad about leaving at the moment. As have spent the last few days saying good bye to dear friends who I really might not get to see again.

Breakfast cheesy omelette
snack (already!) mushrooms in butter

BIWI · 19/09/2012 10:00

TellMeLater - I think all of us who have been here for a while will probably (being realistic) be doing some form of hybrid Bootcamp/Bootcamp Light! And especially with the fasting thing, it does throw a different light on things.

Really interesting post here about intermittent fasting

I'm considering the whole IF thing, and experimented with 5:2 last week, but had thought I couldn't fast on days when I was going to the gym - in fact that post would say exactly the opposite, and that I should be going to the gym in a fasted state.

I thought it was really interesting last week that after two out of four days when I did fast, my weight dropped by almost 2lbs, only to go straight back up again when I returned to 'normal' eating. So I might give it a whirl - missing breakfast totally on non-gym days, and eating a late, protein-rich breakfast on days when I'm at the gym.

To be honest, it's really only for newbies that we need to emphasise the 'three meals a day' thing, to make sure that they get their blood sugar levels stable.

Sharon hope you're feeling a bit better, and that you have a good day/gym session!

I have to confess to having two glasses of wine last night. Really unusual for me now, during the week, and DH did comment bastard, but I had a bit of an 'oh fuck it' moment for some reason!

I think it's partly because I'm going home to my dad's this weekend, and will have to do the dance around my SIL and try and eat low carb without anyone noticing, and I know that there will be copious amounts of wine involved! (Always a bit of a problem when your brother is a wine salesman!)

OP posts:
WillieWaggledagger · 19/09/2012 10:28

why oh why are none of my brothers wine salesmen? i will have to have words

WillieWaggledagger · 19/09/2012 10:33

from that article it looks as though actually i am intermittently fasting, as at weekends i don't usually eat breakfast until 10-11am and then don't need to eat until about 6pm, so certainly in the morning i won't have eaten for about 18 hours

EwanHoozami · 19/09/2012 11:25

Sharon what a horrific shock for you and your colleagues. Wishing you all lots of strength today.

I'm still here pootling along learning more and still keeping pretty straight and narrow. LBDBC will come at a good time for me as it'll start about six weeks after I started Bootcamping. Always a danger time for me in a new way of eating so will appreciate any necessary shouting and/or whipcracking.

hazchem it's all happening quickly for you, isn't it! I'm rather envious that you get to start summer all over again. Good thing you'll be all lean and lovely from all the low carbing Grin

Had pork chops with green beans and mashed swede last night. Wondered how swede can be low carb as it's so sweet? I think I must have got it wrong Confused Oh well, twas mighty buttery and tasty!

BIWI · 19/09/2012 11:36

You didn't get it wrong! Boiled swede is 2.3g carbs per 100g, so all will be well in the world.

OP posts:
EwanHoozami · 19/09/2012 11:38

Huzzah! Grin

BIWI · 19/09/2012 11:39

.... and if you mashed it with lots of butter, it's even better! Grin

OP posts:
Thegoddessblossom · 19/09/2012 12:14

Willie your post made me laugh. Wish my brothers were wine salesmen too. Wish I had some brothers for that matter.

B: greek yoghurt (quel surprise)

20 lengths of the pool and a 2.5 mile run at the gym - bloody hard work tbh, really struggled with the run - am doing this triathlon prep on this WOE but do intend to carb load before the 29th as otherwise I might pass out!

snacks: boiled egg

Hazchem, so exciting, although daunting i'm sure. Where will you be living?

Thegoddessblossom · 19/09/2012 13:34

L: huge salad, with tuna, egg, feta cheese, olives and mayo.

halfthesize · 19/09/2012 14:12

Hi All

sharon hope you are having a better day today.

hazchem I'm sure it will all be fine Smile

Gym today followed by burger and salad Grin

vnmum · 19/09/2012 17:06

sharon hope you are ok today. What an awful shock. It is sometimes hard to come to terms with the shock of losing a friend/colleage in the line of duty.

BIWI I always go to the gym fasted and find i have plenty of energy. I would usually eat a protein rich meal afterwards and i did find that i couldn't do a full fast day on a gym day though as it just made me too hungry and then carb cravings would kick in.

It seems that DH will not be going to afghan after all. He was injured earlier in the year and was hoping to be medically cleared to go but he had a hospital appt today and probably needs surgery so can't go. We went window shopping afterwards and he made the mistake of letting me go into the ugg shop and trying on some gorgeous boots. Now i just have to persuade him to buy them me as an early joint birthday and xmas pressie Grin

BIWI · 19/09/2012 17:15

Oh - that's good, presumably? That he's not going, I mean?

OP posts:
TellMeLater · 19/09/2012 17:28

vnmum I exercise on a fast too and like you found I was too hungry afterwards making fasting tough but i think my body has adjusted to fasting and adjusted to exercising while fasting. I fasted on Monday and ran 14km and I felt absolutely fine.
