Here is the new, shiny thread. Only three weeks or so to go until we swing into really strict mode!

SingingTunelessly · 20/09/2012 12:54

Just dashing in quickly, can anyone please tell me how many carbs are in Runner Beans? I've tried to google it but think I must be a bit dense or something as can't find a definite answer.

Many congratulations Tea that's fantastic news.

Back later. Smile

WillieWaggledagger · 20/09/2012 12:58

hilly exercise always gets things moving for me

SharonGless · 20/09/2012 13:27

Hilly - do you drink coffee? That can help some people. Generally water and green veg is the way forwards. Plus you probably don't need to go as often as you think!

Tea- congratulations! Well done, all that studying has paid off
Eyes- hope you feel better soon. Get on those scales now Wink
Missed breakfast but wasn't hungry
L tuna salad
D seabass with something. Can anyone inspire me please- allergic to shellfish so no prawn sauce

EwanHoozami · 20/09/2012 13:43

Bad day in the Hoozami house. Just cleaned up my 3rd dirty protest from the 3.5yo who fills his pants every time I pick up baby DS2 for a feed. DS2 screams every time I put him down because his first tooth is coming through and it hurts.

Plus my mother gave me the "didn't you know Dr Atkins dropped dead on his doorstep" routine when I refused a biscuit.

Sorry folks, whinge over. It's just that it's really made me want a massive slice of cake and only you lot will understand :(

hilly Holland and Barrett do a senna and prune tablet that I've always found really gentle and effective.

tea that's fab :)

Thegoddessblossom · 20/09/2012 13:48

WELL DONE TEA! Grin

B: greek yog
L: 2 boiled eggs, tuna, grated cheese, mayo, slice of salami, cucumber, salad leaves, roasted courgette and mushrooms

Thegoddessblossom · 20/09/2012 13:54

Ewan my DH reminds me Atkins dropped dead of a heartattack every time he sees me adding full fat mayo to my meals.

I was toying with the idea of becoming a childminder this morning - work ends at the end of the day, no boring office, no sales targets - and then I remembered that I went back to work so I didn't have to be at home with small children and came back to my senses. Grin It's a job they'll always be a need for though, won't there? Every one I know is looking for an after school CM. I cling on to mine with both hands and a vice like grip, particularly as she collects from both schools. I'd pay her double TBH.

NigellasGuest · 20/09/2012 14:11

Tea big congratulations to you!

goddess - speaking as someone who has worked extensively in Early Years, I would say that looking after other people's DCs feels quite different in that they always go home at the end of the day! and it is a profession, albeit badly paid, so you have your professional hat on and somehow it's just a different kettle of fish to having your own kids - especially as you have to work according to the EYFS

Breakfast: boiled egg with FF mayo
Lunch: roasted celeriac slices with butter followed by a few raspberries with coconut oil and double cream.
3 cups of coffee with cream.

BIWI · 20/09/2012 17:19

You do all know that Dr Atkins died as a result of a fall, don't you?

OP posts:
captainmummy · 20/09/2012 17:32

I read that he died as a result of a heart-attack, causing a fall. ANd he was obese.

But i don;t believe everything i read

MsRinky · 20/09/2012 17:38

Don't have prunes, they have about 5g carbs each! I love them but they are sugarbombs.

Flax, that wil sort you out. Or sugar free sweeties with malitol in. They tell you not to eat too many for a reason.

BIWI · 20/09/2012 17:50

No. He slipped on ice and died from complications.

OP posts:
SharonGless · 20/09/2012 17:51

cause of death for dr atkins

Got embroiled in another thread which I shouldn't have done so am going to be name changing.

Don't worry if you don't "see" me

Nigella - what a lovely idea about per Christmas meet up in our LBD

MrsHerculePoirot · 20/09/2012 17:54

Captainmummy that was rumour printed in magazine and then retracted I believe. He was 72 and not obese according to his medical report. His death cert states he died from blunt trauma to head which occurred as he slipped on ice. He did have a heart condition, a common one, in his case this was caused by a viral infection years before his death.

sybilfaulty · 20/09/2012 17:55

I too have had, er, issues with constipation on other diets but find this one ok. Lots of cabbage and a few tomatoes sort me out. Lower carb than prunes.

HOw are doing today Sharon? Thinking of you and your colleagues right now.

Love the idea of a meet up. where do we all live? I am in S London.

MrsHerculePoirot · 20/09/2012 17:55

Massive x-posts! Sharon just tell us your old initials it give us a clue when you change!!!

SingingTunelessly · 20/09/2012 18:51

Oi you lot - Runner Beans?! Help me please.

Sharon, don't disappear on us.

Jins and Jan are you still around?

I take Physillium Husks as recommended in the IPD book and so far haven't had any problems 'in that department' as my lovely mum says. Grin

hurricanewyn · 20/09/2012 19:53

Tuesday - myfitness pal has them at 3.3g per 100g
Sharon - I'm sorry you feel you have to namechange, please do give us a clue once you're back.
Sybil - love the idea of a meetup. Maybe once bootcamp is over, so we can buy clothes for our new svelte selves in the January sales & have a drink too!
I've not been great today
B - greek yoghurt
L - egg mayo & turkey
D - Lamb breast & cabbage

But, I've had two spoonfuls of peanut butter, a packet of macadamia nuts & a tiffen cake bite. I'm quite cross with myself. None of that was because I was hungry - it was just there when I was walking past. I need to curb this eating for the sake of eating business Blush

hurricanewyn · 20/09/2012 19:58

Doh - the carb info was for Tunelessly - dunno who Tuesday is!

queribus · 20/09/2012 20:39

evening, all

Dinner was pork, mushroom with garlic butter and lots of spinach. I have a strawberry pavlova in the fridge calling to me ....

I've felt a bit dizzy and lightheaded today (day 10) so don't know if that's normal at this stage. Had a cup of coffee and felt better. I guess that's not so good.

SingingTunelessly · 20/09/2012 21:00

Thank you Hurricane, slightly high but not too bad then. They were yummy tho.

Queri, sounds a bit grim but wouldn't have thought it to be carb flu 10 days in. Carb flu usually happens sooner than that I think. What is this Pavlova of which you speak?! Can you have a low carb Pavlova? If so, tell me more.

Meet up would be good especially if I've lost some more podge. Although please not London on a Sunday. I've found out the trains from here are not good then after looking into going to the Briffa chat.

halfthesize · 20/09/2012 21:15

Big Congratulations to Tea wohoo!

Nigella fab idea re meetup and sharon give us a hint of new name when you changeSmile

Unexpected fast today for me, until tonight when I had BIWI's lovely ginger and coconut pork, went down well with the whole family, so thanks BIWI Thanks

SharonGless · 20/09/2012 21:18

Queribus, how much water are you drinking? You can Take an electrolyte supplement or use Losalt which contains potassium and other minerals. I find a cup of Bovril does the trick

Can't think of a new name - no creativity! Don't worry I'll let you all know who I am

SkaffenAmtiskaw · 20/09/2012 21:28

Singing, I think pavlova is meringue and cream and rapsberries, so if you make the meringue with a low-carb sweetener the pavlova should be also low carb (do correct me if I'm wrong queribus!)

Today breakfast was a couple of bacon rashers, for lunch I had a sort of green veg and cream omelette (sounds weird but was yum!) and for dinner, trout with runner beans and a couple of boiled new potatoes. I also had rather too many nuts throughout the day, my excuse is that I've just given up smoking. Oh and I also had a G&T made with sugar free tonic.

Thegoddessblossom · 20/09/2012 22:01

Where is Emma?

Hilarious I came in with the intention of asking for a riposte to the dh Atkins comment and there they all were! You read my mind.

Tea: 3 low carb sausages with salad, mushrooms, celery and coleslaw. Off but satisfying.

Have been wrestling all night trying to get my sky plus box connected to my broadband with a power connector that I bought that isn't the official sky one. Needless to say it hasn't worked, very annoying. Will send it back.

Snacks: 2 teaspoons of peanut butter (drool) 2 x g&ts, slive of ham, 6 Brazils

EyesDoMoreThanSee · 20/09/2012 23:18

Dinner was smoked salmon and a glass of tonic water

Don't blame me, it was all i could face!
