Throwing new fuel on the Bootcamp Camp Fire

Here is the new, shiny thread. Only three weeks or so to go until we swing into really strict mode!

OP posts:
OrangeEyesDoMoreThanSee · 16/09/2012 19:05

I have had a very very busy and yet productive day.

B babybel and coffee
L scrambled eggs cooked in butter with mushrooms. I was meant to have some ham too but it had vanished from the fridge
D Roast chicken, broccoli, some gravy

Currently managing the three liters a day as it has been so warm here but very constipated and no real idea why. Next week I intend to cut down on the babybels and be a bit more organised about breakfasts.

roofergirl · 16/09/2012 19:31

Today I had: cream cheese pancake
Lunch: hallumi cheese bits
Dinner: slow cooked breast of lamb, broccoli, French beans, celeriac dauphinois, Greek yog, square of dark choc.

Does anyone use coconut oil? I put a teaspoon in my coffee 3 times a day. Meant to be helpful at speeding up fat burning and great antifungal.

BIWI · 16/09/2012 19:59

dolly - that carb count seems pretty high. All the veg you have had is pretty good in terms of being low carb. And I can't believe one glass of wine and one square of chocolate would add up to that much!

However, I see you have also had gravy. How was that made? Was there flour in it?

The other question, I suppose, is what are your portion sizes like? Are you weighing them or guessing them? I have no idea how MFP works, so no idea how it calculates your carbs!

OP posts:
SharonGless · 16/09/2012 20:23

That's why I stay away from MFP and don't count carbs. It feels too much like WW if I do
If you stuck to the rules it truly truly will work and you will enjoy food again I promise

I made the roast breast of lamb tonight with broccoli and kale for me plus roast potatoes for rest of family
I loved the meat as did DC but it was too fatty for DH
He is very conscious of fat content due to his heart issues and us convinced I an going to give him a heart attack!!

Thegoddessblossom · 16/09/2012 20:45

Hi all. Had 2 burgers for tea with a cabbage medley (tescos packet of fresh mixed cabbage), which if the packet is to be believed was 8ish grams of carbs!! Added mayo.

Snacks have been pork scratchings, 2 gin and tonics.

captainmummy · 16/09/2012 21:33

BIWI - did your coconut-pork in the slow-cooker today and it was delish! I used the whole tin of coconut cream, as i realised when i opened it thet i haden't shaken it, and had no idea what i would do with just the watery stuff. So i chucked it all in, and a bit of stock too. Used leek instead of shallots, and lemon instead of lime, but added lots of chilli and coriander, and it gave it a real thai-style twist. DP and DC had it with mash, i had it as a soup with brocolli.

Loads of left-overs that will call me all day tomorrow (fast day!)

BIWI · 16/09/2012 21:35

It's lovely, isn't it?!

I must do it again, actually. I have breast of lamb for me, but no-one else likes that, whereas both DH and DS2 really enjoyed the pork.

OP posts:
BIWI · 16/09/2012 21:50

BTW, just in case you haven't seen it, I've started a thread about the LBD Bootcamp. Please post on it so I don't look like Billy No Mates!!!

OP posts:
OrangeEyesDoMoreThanSee · 16/09/2012 21:54

I did a vast roast chicken tonight for dinner - have well over half of it left.

Some will go in DHs sarnies for lunch and for DD tomorrow but don;t know what to do with the leftovers? Twice cooked casserole sounds like it could work but not sure. Would normally do a risotto or rice stir fry. I don;t want to do chicken supreme as neither DD or DH would eat it.

BIWI · 16/09/2012 21:58

Shred it, fry some bacon, and mix both with mayonnaise. Lovely piled on top of salad leaves.

OP posts:
OrangeEyesDoMoreThanSee · 16/09/2012 22:02

ooo thanks thats a good lunch idea - DD won't eat mayo and too young for bacon (I like the maple smoked stuff)

she might like hers cold though - will see how the weather turns out

BIWI · 16/09/2012 22:06

You could always mix it with yoghurt?

OP posts:
dollyxdaydreamer · 16/09/2012 22:24

I've just scrutinised the carb counts MFP has given me for all my food today BIWI and it's coming up with 20g for 2 cups of broccoli and nearly 10g for a cup of savoy cabbage Shock That's not right, surely?!

So maybe I'm wasn't doing so bad after all. Shame I got all disheartened and fell into a bag of salted kettle chips Sad Feeling a lot bit pissed off with myself now.

Anyway. What should one do should one's birthday fall during Bootcamp?

BIWI · 16/09/2012 22:30

No - that can't be right. Did you weigh the veg? It sounds like you might have American counts there, and they include fibre in their carb counts.

You need to have my carb counter spreadsheet! PM me your e-mail address and I'll send it to you.

ignores reference to Kettle chips

OP posts:
Totallycluelessmum · 16/09/2012 22:56

If you go on your settings on mfp you can choose to see fibre too, then you can subtract it off your carb total to get the net carbs.
I only just found that out too Blush after two weeks eating something like 10 net carbs by mistake and feeling rotten and totally stinking of ketones!,,,

PeoniesPlease · 16/09/2012 22:57

Just had yummy roast lamb with garlic and rosemary, followed by cheese and Wine. Can't believe I get to eat this way and lose weight!

Does anyone else still have a minor panic attack every time they get on the scales, because surely this woe can't possibly work?!

BIWI · 16/09/2012 23:00
Grin

But it does, doesn't it?!

OP posts:
SharonGless · 16/09/2012 23:02

The only time I get on the scales and panic is
A) eaten too many carbs
B) drank too much wine

Other than that this has been the single best thing that has happened to me apart from having my DC.

PeoniesPlease · 16/09/2012 23:14

It has been totally amazing. I just feel like I want to tell everyone about it because I have been starving myself for a decade and this is so much better (and more effective!).

Thegoddessblossom · 17/09/2012 07:58

Peonies I do that every morning and I have lost the pound I gained last week (by eating nuts) this morning after eating cream, cheese, loads of meat, bacon and eggs etc etc. love it.

BIWI is the pork recipe on the recipe thread?

captainmummy · 17/09/2012 08:11

Pork recipe is onthe recipe thread goddesss - it's where i got it from!Grin Do try it, it's delicious and quite cheap too. I want to try the lamb, but it's a bit pricey for me!

BIWI · 17/09/2012 08:26

Breast of lamb shouldn't be pricey! I bought a huge piece, which would easily feed four people (not that anyone else will get their hands on it) for £4.70

OP posts:
Thegoddessblossom · 17/09/2012 09:05

What can I have for brekkie that would involve the sour cream I need to get rid of?

BIWI · 17/09/2012 09:06

Fried mushrooms and bacon? Chop and mix with soured cream.

OP posts:
Thegoddessblossom · 17/09/2012 09:09

Coming up!! Thanks BIWI
