Well done Kbear. Thats fantastic. And well done to everyone else too.
I think I may get Rosie C's book. I've seen the GI Jeans one in the shops.
Can anyone tell me what the class aerobics session is like? What level would you it was? And how long is it?

lilibet · 01/05/2006 10:08

I've doen both the aerobics and the salsa classes and they are both good. I would class myself as very unfit and when I started I was probably about 3 stone overweight. The aerobics leaves me nore breathles than the salsa but both depend on how much you put into them. Our instructor gives you options for some stuff like either skip, if you're not knackered ot march on the spot if you are! they are probablay about 30/40 minutes long

Jahan · 01/05/2006 10:23

Thanks Lilibet.
I am wondering whether or not to go to my local class.
It clashes with a Spinning class that I want to start attending. I absolutely love spinning and used to be quite fit.
Hmmm decisions...

lilibet · 01/05/2006 11:11

I find that being weighed in every week is a great incentive and the classes are very good, not what you imagine.
Nothing like Marjorie Dawes Fat Fighters!!

KBear · 01/05/2006 11:18

PSML at Marjory Dawes!!!!

What is spinning? - sounds fast and dangerous!!

At my class I "S W E A T" - not to put a finer point on it. It's a great workout.

OP posts:
Jahan · 01/05/2006 21:18

Spinning is great. Its where you get a whole class on exercise bikes with an instructer shouting at you to 'increase the resistance!' 'Stand up!' 'sit down!' 'do push ups!' etc. I think you burn at least 600 cals in those classes (not exaggerated).
Foodwise, I think I did ok today but didn't get much exercise done unfortunately. Just got too busy.

KBear · 01/05/2006 21:26

Sounds like hard work Jahan! I did 20 mins on my exercise bike today for the first time in about 10 years!

Tomorrow I will mostly be swimming and not eating very much so I will lose two pounds please at my weigh in!

OP posts:
Jahan · 01/05/2006 21:43

Well done for getting on the bike.
I have one of those swing stepper things that I do in front of the tv when I've not had time to do any other exercise. I hold weights and do arm exercises too so do get a good workout on it.
I'm not going to be eating much for the rest of the week.
Good luck with the weigh in.

Hello

Can I join this thread? Started RC classes two weeks ago and lost 5lbs in the first week. Was extremely good and probably won't lose as much this week as went to DH's rugby awards dinner on Sat night. Have been very good the rest of the week and done lots of exercise. I have 3 stone to lose all together. My weigh in is on a Thursday night.

lilibet · 02/05/2006 12:33

Hello Cgm, I have about 3 stone ish to loose too, so I'll be very glad to have you here espeically as some of these thinnies only have a bit to loose and they will soon be swanning off looking slim and gorgeous!!

Have you set a target? I haven't as I don't know what I want to be as it's that long since I was slim I can't remember it! I would like to be a comfortable 12 which means that I will be able to get in oh so many of my clothes that I haven't worn for years.

Good Luck for tonight kbear!

KBear · 02/05/2006 12:39

afternoon! Hi CMG and lil! Just been swimming but I felt exhausted before I started so only did about 30 lengths this week. Got my RC class tonight too so I will be in a state of collapse later. I think Friday night caught up with me - that'll teach me to let my hair down!

Nervous as ever about weigh in. Just having a chicken salad pitta for lunch. Have been sensible but you just never know..... I would be grateful to lose a pound!

KBear · 02/05/2006 12:40

I meant CGM not CMG of course!

Hi KBear and lilibet

At the start of the year I wanted to lose a stone by my holiday (17th May), one more stone by my friend's wedding (23rd September) and one more by christmas. So far have lost 8lb, with lots of up and downing between Jan - April, but feels like I am settling down with RC. To meet the first target I have 6lbs to lose before 17th May so can't wait to be weighed on thursday to see if I'm anyway near achieving that, clothes definitely feeling looser though.

Hopefully will NOT meet the third target (V odd I know) as DH and I have decided to try for another baby after September. This is still keeping me motivated though as I had pre-eclampsia with my DS and want to do everything possible to be in good health before getting pregnant again.

Just walked to tesco's to get my lunch and bought sushi and fresh pineapple, feeling v virtuous!

Hope your weigh in goes well tonight KBear!

KBear · 02/05/2006 13:13

Thanks!

I think RC is a good plan, easily workable, not faddy like some of them and I love the fact that you get an exercise class thrown in! Did you do your measurements? I've lost quite a lot in inches and that motivates me when the weight doesn't fall off as quick as I hoped.

I'll keep you posted as to how I get on tonight.

lilibet · 02/05/2006 18:03

only swam 30 lengths!!

You show off!! Grin

Waiting and hoping for the magic 2lb!

KBear · 02/05/2006 21:34

Hello! LOL at show off! Last week I did 44 so 30 didn't seem so much. I swam quite regularly before I started this so it's not such a big deal and you do build up your stamina very quickly and are able to do more and more each week (except this week ha ha!).

So..... I suppose you want to know what I lost.....

don't get excited...

half a pound again.

swear words.

I am disappointed but I keep thinking, "half a pound of lard gone". Time of the month this week so I blame it on that rather than the copious amount of alcohol I had on Friday!

OP posts:
lilibet · 02/05/2006 22:01

Just logged back on before bed to see how you had gone on

That is 10lb in total Grin

A big bag of potatoes!!

Go and pick one up tomorrow and see if you still feel like swearing!

Jahan · 02/05/2006 22:50

Hello everyone.
Well done kbear for your loss. It can be disappointing to lose 1/2 a lb but like you said, you are losing tonnes of inches. And don't forget, with all this exercise, you're prob building muscle which we all know weighs more than fat.
I did ok today though I did sneak one biscuit at work. Naughty, I know but I was very active today so I'll let myself off (I think I stayed below 1200 cals anyway)
Does anyone do sit ups? I keep forgetting to do them. Tis the only way to reduce the baby-belly, I've heard. I think I'll aim to do 25 a day.

gingernutlover · 04/05/2006 09:47

YAY WELL DONE K BEAR

i went last nite and lost 2lbs and sent off for pewdometer today too - feeling more enthusiastic but am going out tonmight

KBear · 04/05/2006 10:11

Ah, GNL - you're back, WELL DONE on your 2lbs.

I've resigned myself to slow but steady progress. 10lbs down, 10 to go. Still keeping motivated and loving the exercise.

I am rubbish at sit-ups Jahan but I have learnt some good stomach strengthening exercises at the RC class which I do when I remember.

Hi All

Well done kBear and gnl on your weight losses, it's my weigh in tonight so please keep your fingers crossed for me. Have had quite a good week apart from DH's rugby awards dinner on Sat night so hoping for a decent loss...
