My mate at work told me my trousers look silly where I've had to put a safety pin in them to hold them up. I hit her obviously. Grin

Do you feel like you've lost weight lil? Are your clothes feeling looser? I think that's a better sign than losing weight. It means the exercise is paying off (assuming you're doing some in between eating peanuts) Wink.!!

Oh and good luck and keep us posted tonight.

yah! I stayed the same, which altho doesn't sound good, I am relieved after how bad I had been. Thge exercise inspired me to be good this week and I have walked to PO and toddlers this am about 2 miles in total - so feeling smug atm. Hope everyone else doing okay too.

Slimmer of the week!!!!!

KBear · 29/04/2006 08:41

Well that's blown it .... went out last night with some mates, guzzled wine whilst getting ready, drank rum in the pub then moved to a pub that didn't sell rum so drank bud. Hmmmm, apart from the drunken staggering that ensuing (how funny was that and we walked home too and I had to take my boots off because they were too high and I couldn't walk in them ha ha - teenager!) I am now wondering how much that didn't help my weight loss this week! Oh but it was a GREAT night!!!!!

OP posts:
lilibet · 29/04/2006 12:40

We all deserve a great night every now and again and you have been so very very good.

At least you didn't hit the food when you got home.

Do you fancy doing an online food/exercise diary for a week before your holidays? Really keep us on the striahgt and narrow as we have to be absolutley honest!

Gnl, have you seen that they are giving pedometers away with Bran Flakes?

KBear · 29/04/2006 17:53

Yes, thank heavens the chippie was shut when we passed by. I just spoke to my friend - she is so ill. She can't eat or drink and has laid on the sofa all day! I was okay by about 10am after drinking loads of water and eating toast and marmite! Haven't stopped all day, running the kids about shopping and visiting friends. Finally home and DH is on nights so I am going to have a nice quiet evening I think!

Yes, the online diary think sounds good. I'll have to keep a note of what I do. I find it difficult thinking of new ideas and churn out the same meals endlessly. Must be more imaginative. DH just brought the exercise bike in from the garage where it was gathering dust and spiders - he means business obviously. Grin

Gawd help me with the temptation of Orkney fudge up in Scotland and Heather Cream (Scottish "Baileys"). Me and my friend (same friend from last night - drunkard!) always get some to toast our good health (!) when we're up there.

Hi, oh food Smile. It doesn't have to be anything in particular - chips, chocolate, a nice greasy fry-up, curry, a nice roast dinner with all the trimmings cooked by my husband - you name it I love it Smile. Any food is my downfall. I'm going to a Rosemary Conley slimming club at the moment, have only got about two and a half pounds until my first stone and it's not easy. A few years ago lost about four and a half stone Smile at the same slimming club and after a few personal problems it all went pear shaped and I put it all back on and more, so here I am again spending £5.00 a week to have someone weigh me and tell me if I've lost weight or put it on. It's an ongoing battle. Anyone else have the same problems keeping the weight off. Any tips or advice would be most welcome.

KBear - somewhere in this thread you mention 1500 calories a day. Is there a book that lists them all (there was one many moons ago called "Your greatest guide to calories")?
I am tempted to join as I am getting nowhere on my own - not putting on but not losing either. I fancy the exercise aspect but do they also lecture you? I am not very good with such things as I think we all know what we are doing wrong really so I find it rather patronising. From your description I think I would be fine with the foods (like healthy stuff generally) but need to be more focussed.

Well done all of you on this thread.

KBear · 29/04/2006 20:07

Hi mumtoabby and yoyo!

Yoyo - the book I'm using came in my pack when I joined. You get a kick-start book for the first two weeks then the main book which contains meal ideas and the calorie bit.

You don't get lectured at my class, you get motivated and have a real laugh. The instructer will have a chat if you feel you're going wrong somewhere but let's face it, we all know what's good for you and what isn't! She reads out who's lost what and everyone claps. She doesn't read out your name if you didn't lose and lots of people don't every week so you're never on your own.

I have lost my baby weight previously following WW but not attending the class (borrowed the books). This time I couldn't get started and after looking at the Rosemary Conley website I felt motivated to do it and the fact that you get the exercise class thrown in for the price tempted me.

I can't praise it enough. It's a way of life that I know I can maintain as I now prefer healthy stuff to pizza and currys (although of course you will have them occasionally in future).

This thread has really helped me too - knowing someone out there is rooting for you and wondering how you're getting on is good to keep you motivated too.

(Have I sold it to you yet? and no I don't get commission!)

Hi Yoyo, it's not patronising, it starts with a weigh in, then they usually read out who has lost what and then just a little chat which gives you some tips about things you can eat and things you can't. But I promise in my experience of a Rosemary Conley slimming club it isn't patronising, in fact it is the best diet I have tried. Good luck.

Hello everyone.
Kbear invited me to join this thread as I need some support and ass-kicking to get me back into losing weight.
I've recently lost 8lbs and need to lose about another 1.5 stone.
I've just had a week of eating rubbish. Don't know why but need to get back on track.
So, who's good at nagging here then?
Also, I can be rather competitive so I'll try to keep up with the best of you!

KBear · 30/04/2006 08:29

Well I don't know about nagging but kicks up the bum we can do!

My instructor at RC said if you have a bad day or week, draw a line under it and start again the next day/week instead of thinking you've failed completely. Real life isn't always easy to plan and there are times when it's just too difficult or life is stressful and you need to get through it. Whatever happens, don't give up. Start again and be more determined.

Yesterday for me was a write off. Boozy friday night, hanging over yesterday, ate crap. Today, back on track with my porridge for brekkie then swimming later.

Now when I WANT something chocolatey I think "no, I want to be slim more than I want that" and go and do something else. My cupboards are tidy and my ironing is done more often too as pottering about keeps my mind off it!

Hope this helps. And please cut and paste and send it back to me when I need it!! Grin

Thanks for the answers KBear and mumofabby. I haven't masses to lose - a stone or so and I'd be extremely happy. I will look at the website to see if there are any classes I could go to during the day (DH often not around in the evenings with work). I will let you know if I sign up!

Jahan · 30/04/2006 22:18

Thanks Kbear.
I can lose weight AND have a spotless house? Wow, its got to be worth it!
I've done well today. Just had some fruit'n'fibre for breakfast, Couscous with salad for lunch, a pear and lentils and rice for dinner.
I am going to stick to 1200 cals for the next couple of weeks and no fat.
I am also going to do 1/2 hr of exercise every day (didn't do any today but spent 3 hours going around Ikea and B&Q!)
My first goal is to get to 10st. I need to lose 11lbs to get there.
How are you and others doing?

KBear · 01/05/2006 09:25

I just took my measurements (I do this every week!) - lost another two inches. 16.5 so far all over. Feels good and my clothes are fitting so much better. DH can't believe the difference in 7 weeks. Nor can I to be honest and I think exercise has everything to do with it. I swim twice a week and do the aerobics at Rosemary Conley and do lots of fast walking where I can!

With the amount of biscuits and choc I used to eat that I don't now it's no wonder I'm losing weight though. I don't actually miss it either because I'm not hungry for sweet things because this plan balances your blood sugar properly so you don't get those cravings (well except the Easter Egg incident last weekend!).

Keep up the good work everyone, here's to a slimmer summer. I feel so much better about myself (not being big on self confidence at the best of times) but I went out on the razz on Friday and felt like I looked great as opposed to fat and frumpy.

Just found a class that I can go to when DS is at pre-school. Even better it is on a Friday so should motivate me not to do the "it's the weekend" thing!

KBear · 01/05/2006 09:43

good luck yoyo - let us know how you get on.

lilibet · 01/05/2006 09:48

Wow, more people!! wonderful Grin

Yesterday we went to church then staright to ds's football so we called at one fo the little Tescos for some sandwiches for lunch. The only Healthy Eating ones were chicken salad and egg and cress so as a egg hating non meat eater there was nothing there. I looked at all the other labels and the one that I would eat with the least fat was a prawn and mayo at 17%. Bought it, ate half of it then while were watching football I started having the most horrid stomach ache and feeling really sick. I think it was the shock to my system of having something like that after 6 weeks of no mayo and butter.

If it is the holiday in France is going to be interesting, no lovely french cheeses and butter Sad

Are you confident then for tomorrow kbear? I'm going to measure myself again later, wish I had started with it at the begining as you did.

It's my birthday on Wednesday and we are going for an Indian, now I know what all the healthy choices are, I also know that they do the most fantastic veggie set meal and I know which I'm going for Grin

KBear · 01/05/2006 09:52

I think I've lost weight but worried that Friday night's shenanigans might have blown it. Food-wise been sensible and been swimming, so who knows? Putting clothes on that fit is the best thing ever, I am going to treat myself to a couple of new tops today in celebration!

I love this thread, it really keeps me going knowing you lot are all out there trying too!

OP posts:
Jahan · 01/05/2006 09:53

I know what you mean, kbear, about feeling better about yourself. I feel really good every time someone compliments me on how much weight I've lost and how good I look.
How much weight have you lost so far?

I can't wait to be able to get back into my old clothes as I haven't really spent too much on new bigger stuff.

KBear · 01/05/2006 09:56

And I know what you mean about eating rich stuff that you're no longer used to. Planning ahead is the answer I suppose (easier said that done).

We've been out a few times and DH and the kids have had something to eat and I haven't because I knew it would undo my hard work. Now I try to work around meal times so I'm here for lunch. Today I am going to the shops to buy school shoes (and my new tops) but I am going to time it so I'm not hungry when I'm out!
