I just joined tonight. Want to lose 1st 9lbs - wish me luck. Anyone got any tips?

OP posts:
Jahan · 04/05/2006 21:12

I am still deciding on whether or not to join a class. I will see how I do with just you lovely ladies for support for the next week or so and then decide.
Does anyone know if there are any promotions on the joining fee? There usually is for WW and SW but I couldn't see anything on Rosies website.
Good luck for tonight girls.

charliegreensmum · 05/05/2006 08:02

Well I was weighed and it's.......2 1/2 off!! Grin. Am so chuffed, that's 7 and 1/2 lbs in two weeks despite boozy night out last saturday and some chinese during the week. Is looking like I will make my target from the start of the year of losing a stone by my holiday on 17th May - only 3lbs to go....

lilibet · 05/05/2006 09:12

So, I went last night and I got on the scales and the lovely, lovely lady told me that I had lost 2lb!!!!!!

Only I haven't really!!

I had a very busy couple of hours after finishing work yesterday at 3 and by 7.30 I still hadn't been home, so I thought that the best thing to do was just pop in to get weighed while still in my work clothes and miss the exercise.

so she was very thrilled with me loosing 2lb after the 3lb loss last week but when I got home I weghed my shoes (yes I know, very sad!), and they weigh 1lb less than my trainers Grin

so really I lost 1lb, which does make it 9 1/2 lb in 6 weeks which I am incredibly chuffed about Smile

KBear · 05/05/2006 10:00

Lil the shoe-weigher - Well done anyway!!!

CGM - you're doing really well too - congrats!

Kbear the safety pin girl! Also the girl that had a kit-kat last night. WHAT was I thinking? FGS bear, don't lose the plot now.... It was a PMT moment I think but no excuse.

OP posts:
Jahan · 05/05/2006 11:49

Well done for the weight loss, girls!
I feel huge due to bloating and pmt.

lilibet · 05/05/2006 14:50

CGM - 7 1/2 in two weeks in wonderful Grin

did you stick to the inital 2 week plan?

KBear · 06/05/2006 08:12

What's happening to me? I've fallen off the wagon. I'm craving sweet stuff and last night I had a WW icecream sundae thing and a small kitkat. I will kick myself if I gain weight this week after all my efforts. Maybe it's a PMT thing, I know, excuses excuses.

Set me straight somebody!

OP posts:
Jahan · 06/05/2006 09:18

Its not worth it Kbear!
You've been doing so well and you don't want to undo weeks of hard work just for a few seconds of taste here and there.
Remember all those compliments you've got.
Also, keep your goal in mind which was (spoken in your very own words)
'I know I will be slim and gorgeous by the summer, I know my belly won't hang over my jeans anymore and all the clothes hanging in my wardrobe will fit me'
(It prob is a PMT thing anyway as I'm like that too!)
Anyway, you've not been too bad so don't get annoyed with yourself.
Good luck.

KBear · 06/05/2006 09:27

Thanks Jahan - I was delusional when I said slim AND gorgeous! Slim possibly!! ha ha

I am annoyed with myself (it's like the secret smoker thing - you tell everyone you quit then you sneak off and smoke - my friend does this bless her - she thinks we don't know but she can't help herself). I will draw a line under the past two days and start again properly today. How PO'd will I be if I don't lose anything this week.

Sending willpower vibes to everyone on here and hoping to get some back!

OP posts:
lilibet · 06/05/2006 18:43

If all you had was a WW Ice Cream and a small kit kat it's hardly a big transgression!

Do some extra swimming, ride the bike a bit furhter, find something that weighs 10lb and carry it about a bit Smile

I am very very proud of us, I have done better on this than I have on any other diet, I'm sat here in a pair of jeans that haven't fitted me for ages, and ok so they are a 14 and are still slightly tight but they fasten and don't look frightening.

And by summer they will be loose, by summer I too will be safetypin woman Grin

don't blow what you have done on a bit of chocolate, remember - nothing tastes as good as being slim feels!!

KBear · 06/05/2006 19:45

ah but lilibet, I've been picking bits and pieces of sweet stuff all week really, that was just last night! I relaxed a bit too much I think, I need to start writing everything down again - I got a bit lazy.

Might do a bit on the bike but to be honest I hate it - makes my bum hurt ha ha!!

You know when you feel like you have blown it after being so strict though, just felt crap for giving in to the cravings. Usually I have lots of willpower but this week had none at all.

Today has been okay though, been sensible again!

OP posts:
KBear · 06/05/2006 19:47

and lil - well done for getting into your jeans! Like you say, they will be looser next week. That is the best bit isn't it, wearing clothes you haven't worn for ages!

What sort of a weekend is everyone having?

I'm on a "i'm due on soon therefore I must eat constantly" weekend. Last time I did this I did manage to keep to below 5% fat foods and so manged a littel weight loss. Getting very little exercise as it's piddling down here.

How many weeks to your hols kbear?

KBear · 07/05/2006 19:35

Three weeks and counting! I am back on track this weekend in the face of all temptations. I haven't had anything remotely chocolately - I think it was a PMT eat-everything-in-the-house kinda phase which hopefully I am over. Jeans feeling nice and loose - yippee - but still not dropped a dress size, I dont' think I could get into size 12s yet and that is my goal. DH being very complimentary too (is that cos he wanted to go up the pub and watch Arsenal one wonders!!!???)

Haven't done any exercise since swimming last Tuesday but going again tomorrow.

How have you been doing?

OP posts:
charliegreensmum · 08/05/2006 08:29

Hi All

Had a good weekend, started with the Davina DVD on Sat morning and went for a walk to the park yesterday. Not been too bad with the diet either so hopefully can keep going until the weigh in on Thurs. Planning to go swimming tonight for the first time for months.

Hope you all have a good start to the week!

KBear · 08/05/2006 14:20

Hello all. I'm back on track after my bad week. Didn't go swimming today after all, by the time I got DD to school and DS to nursery I was soaked and cold so I went home for a hot bubbly bath!! Might go tonight if DH gets home in time, if not tomorrow.

OP posts:
lilibet · 09/05/2006 15:59

Good luck for tonight!

how is everyone else doing? It's been a bit quiet over the weekend, does that mean that everyone is out there getting fit or just to ashamed to fess up what they have been eating? Grin

I am Little Miss Podge at the moment. I have swelled up so much with water retention due to PMT and the weather that I look like a little ball. My rings are digging in me and I've jsut taken off my socks and boots to see where they have been digging into my little fat legs

Any good tips for getting rid of it before Thursday?

KBear · 09/05/2006 21:02

Drink water - gallons of it! The instructor mentioned it tonight actually, as the weather gets warmer your body holds on to water so you have to drink lots more. Hope it works.

I lost 1lb this week - am pleased, especially as I had a bad week of the munchies!

Swam 40 lengths this morning and did the RC class tonight. Have lost feelings in my arms and legs!!!

OP posts:
Jahan · 09/05/2006 22:51

I have been very, very bad.
I lost 2lbs last week but I just went mad with chocolate for some unknown-but-pmt-influenced-reason and am sure I've put it all back on. And by mad, I mean really mad. I had a total binge and have eaten about 6 bars in 3 days. Plus I have been totally slack and not stuck to diet at all.
Now confession time is over, I will start afresh tomorrow.
I have to remind myself that this time last year, I weighed 12.5 stones and I have only recently started dieting. So, I am on the right track but just need to be a bit more disciplined.
Tomorrow I will stick to 1200cals AND do 1/2hr of dvd exercise plus a long walk with baby.
Well done to the rest of you.

charliegreensmum · 10/05/2006 08:53

KBear, well done on the 1lb off, you are doing really well.

Jahan, just close the book on the chocolate episode and start afresh today. We can't all be perfect all the time! My Nan bought 8 bags of milky bar buttons for my DS (who doesn't even eat chocolate!). DH has been eating them all week but I can't resist a few each time he opens a bag. Am trying to get in the frame of mind where this is a life change, not just a diet, and to say that I'd never have chocolate again would be totally unrealistic.

I am having an OK week, but it's my first week off the kick start and back onto 1500 cals, so am a bit nervous about the scales tomorrow night!

Have a good day!

CGMum :)

KBear · 10/05/2006 12:00

Now I have got my head round the fact that I'm not going to lose three pounds every week I am very happy with a solitary pound! You're right CG'smum, it's a life change plan - not a temporary fix so you have to be realistic and eat takeaways sometimes and choc and go out for dinner without thinking you can't eat this or that. And everyone's entitled to a bad day or two Jahan, I had mine last week - might have lost 2lbs if it wasn't for that. Oh well!!

OP posts:
Jahan · 10/05/2006 12:14

Having a much better day today.
Have done my 30 min workout and have had a small serving of fruit'n'fibre and a slice of wholemeal toast with a thin spread of marmalade. Had a handful of monkey nuts for a snack. (I have been up since 6 so was getting hungry!)
For lunch, I have couscous with chickpeas and salad and have plenty of fruit for snacks.
I am going to walk with the buggy to the supermarket, which is 1.5 miles away, after lunch.
Hope everyone else has a good day too.

charliegreensmum · 10/05/2006 14:54

Having a good(ish) day too. Had slice of w/meal toast with marmite and low fat yoghurt for breakfast, and chichen mediterrean salad for lunch at Nando's - was really yummy but a bit naughty with some feta cheese. However before RC would have had peri peri chicken and chips, so a definite improvement on that.

lilibet · 10/05/2006 17:13

Well done again kbear! Slow and sure definitley the best way!

Went for a very long walk at lunch with lots of hills, was knackered when I got back to work Grin

KBear · 10/05/2006 17:18

Hi lil - going to take your "light" shoes with you to be weighed in this week??? Grin
