Good morning all! So good to see Milkshake and STealth.
Oblomov it is so hurtful when you fall out with a good friend. I hope things are better today.

I was very good yesterday with having half portions. Breakfast was half a slice of toast with a slice of ham, plus half a banana and a handful of grapes. Lunch was half a prawn mayo sandwich, an apple and a cup of WW soup. Dinner we had roasted veg with gravy and stuffing. I had a small bread and butter plate. I had half a pint of beer and two small glasses of wine. It does not really fel like dieting, but is certainly less than what I usually have. We shall see- I bet on Monday I will have put on about 3 pounds! But I do feel a great deal more relaxed in comparison to when I am counting points and mentally tallying up what I want to eat the rest of the day.

I am supposed to go spinning tonight, but had a minor health scare (terrible chest pain and breathlessness- going to Dr today) over the weekend so think I will give it a miss and will not push it too much.

Hope everyone has a good day today.

Kato the main thing with Pilates is to use your core muscles. If you're doing it right, tomorrow you'll feel like you've been punched in the stomach. OTOH if you don't use your core enough, you'll be barely able to move tomorrowBlush.
It's great exercise, and good for toning and posture.
On pudding, you could try a day or two with no pudding a week and see how it goes. I rarely have pudding as I find it makes me more hungry, oddly.
Perhaps you could aim your pudding for an hour after dinner to dissociate it in your mind from the meal itself, then see if you're actually hungry at that point.

fivegomadindorset · 29/08/2012 07:00

Morning all, back to the drawing board for mr I am afriad.

fivegomadindorset · 29/08/2012 07:04

I am so sorry Oblomov, yes your DH may be fat however I don't think he is being sensitive, most parents teach their children that it is rude to comment on other people in that way.

StealthPolarBear · 29/08/2012 07:17

[Dshock] nochips, hope you're ok. Why are you waiting till the weekend - doesn't that make it harder to see a doc? Like your half portions idea btw, I might try that on my days off, but then relax it a bit in the evening.
Five, what's happened?

reastie · 29/08/2012 07:58

eightytwenty if I have a pud I'll generally have fruit or a low fat yog, but I try not to have a pud unless I really feel I need something else. I often have a low kcal hot choc after lunch or dinner though as it does seem to fill me up a bit and give me a chocolate fix. I do the same as inmy sometimes too - leave it an hour before pudding

nochips let us know how you go at the doc Shock

nochipsthanks · 29/08/2012 08:14

Thnaks Stealth, thanks reastie. No, seeing doc today, had my scare at the weekend. (Bank Holiday Monday which was less than convenient!). We were at the playground, and I got the most awful pain in my chest and down my arm which lasted the rest of the day. I am not usually ill so we went to the walk in clinic at the hospital and they hooked me up to things and made sure it was not a heart attack. The end analysis was 'random pain' but I am going to the dr to see if it needs further checking out.

I was back to normal yesterday and feel fine today! Very odd!

Half portions did work for me yesterday- but am feeling quite empty and hungry today! Have eaten two apples. :)

I never have pudding after dinner- but usually DO have a glass of wine which is probably much worse!

littlemissstan · 29/08/2012 08:58

I braved the scales in the gym this morning which I don't normally do as I can't take all my clothes off and stand on one toe... And according to them I'm now under 12 stone even with my trainers on! Love the gym scales!

nochips that sounds scary! Fingers toes and everything crossed that all is well.

Someone ages ago said they had gone out to La Tasca and done quite well on staying under calories - any tips as I have a 30th birthday dinner there on Saturday and I feel it may throw me way off track again...

InMySpareTime · 29/08/2012 09:25

Stan you should be able to look up calories for all la tasca's dishes on their website, then you can decide which ones to eat. Everyone will be too busy enjoying themselves to notice that you're eating from only certain dishes, or taking less.
Get a jug of water for everyone and pour yourself one, after half a glass of wine, drink a glass of water before finishing the glass. Don't leave your wine glass empty or someone will refill it, which makes it harder to keep track of what you've had.
Lastly, have a good workout earlier in the day so you have lots of calories spare in case you get tempted into eating birthday cake.

InMySpareTime · 29/08/2012 09:30

I weighed in on the wii this morning, and I'm 12.10 (I stuck at 12.11 for over a week), and my BMI has gone below 35Grin. 2 months ago it was 38, I am aiming for 30 by Christmas ideally.

TheOneWithTheHair · 29/08/2012 09:40

Well done littlemissstan and IMST. That's great! :)

I swapped dinner for wine last night. Oops. Blush

KatoPotato · 29/08/2012 10:15

Well done littlemiss on braving the gym scales! I might do it too!

Nochips I hope everything's okay!

Inmy, I'm a bit scared about Pilates now! Engaging core is pulling belly button into spine eh? Xx

MilkshakeMaker · 29/08/2012 10:30

Grin to everyone saying hello to me and thank you for the welcomes back!

I am SO peeved with myself. Huff. Its the wedding on sat and I'm going to look like the mitchellin man in a bridesmaid dress. Weighed this morning and i've put on 4lb, hardly unexpected though as many many drinks were consumed on friday night and I went home and ordered dominos...for myself Blush ...plus the buffet food, the pork pies became my best friend, and the pringles were lonely so I ate the tube so they could be reunited with their friends too. plus eating out, plus bingeing, plus booze, plus more bingeing.

I've caught up from where I left, Great news for people buying size 12s and hitting milestones, well done!!

And sorry to those having pants weeks (both with weightloss and within family life) I'm still feeling the crave to inhale as much junk food as I could afford but I keep thinking about the scales.

Might have to explore emotional eating...

InMySpareTime · 29/08/2012 10:35

Yes, also incorporates pelvic floor.
Just remember not to overdo it the first few times. It's all to easy to think "I'm not even out of breath, it's just stretching really slowly", then when you try to walk out at the end of the class you hobble like an old lady (that's what I did on my first class), but it really works your abdominal muscles and makes you stand straighter (which immediately makes your tummy flatter).
Your body will quickly get used to it, I was just warning you so you're not surprised at the achy muscles and discouraged.

KatoPotato · 29/08/2012 10:50

Thanks again, I just wanted to work something different into my week! So it's now:

Monday: BodyPump/BodyCombat
Tuesday: cardio and weights at gym
Wednesday: Pilates
Thursday: Off
Friday: Gym cardio/weights
Saturday: Spin

I'm already walking like ive had a kicking but it must be all good eh? Weighin tomorrow!

Littlemisstan that was me! I had about 1/3 of a veg paella, half a mushrooms, half a wholefood salad. I had to guess at cals but it came in at about 500 or 600 I think.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 29/08/2012 12:20

Having really only ever popped in, I am taking my leave of this thread, but thank you anyway, and good luck to everyone, this is clearly an amazingly supportive group. I think rather than concentrating on losing weight now, I need to focus on how to maintain, which is a different challenge.

Thank you again Thanks

littlemissstan · 29/08/2012 12:58

Ah ha! Thanks Stealth - we are having the set menu which looks suspiciously deep fried but I reckon I could claim fussiness and order one or two things of my own - horribly against the principles of tapas I'm sure but never mind! We're going dancing after so hopefully will work some off then as well.

reastie · 29/08/2012 15:56

Ratherbe - I don't think I 'know' you but Thanks back to you

kato that sounds very energetic to me Wink . I used a do bodypump a bit and it was amazing - my arms felt so strong afterwards.

Mini half milestone here last night - my wedding and engagement rings haven't fitted since I was about 18 weeks pg I put it down to water retention at the time who was I kidding . Last night my engagement ring (slightly bigger) actually went onto my little finger. OK, so not my ring finger but it actually fitted on one of my fingers, which it didn't last time I tried. Really want to be able to wear my rings again so my big aim now is to get them on my ring finger.

Gym today and so far looking to (fingers crossed) be below calories even without including workout into MFP Grin . Still no one has made any comments about if I've lost any weight yet....am waiting nonchalantly in hope one day someone will notice.

TheOneWithTheHair · 29/08/2012 18:00

Good luck piste hope you do well.

How did everyone get on today? I'm off into Manchester for cocktails and food tonight. God I can't wait for the holidays to be over for the sake of a decent routine.

InMySpareTime · 29/08/2012 18:02

Date night tonight, I've made quorn tikka masala with low fat naan bread, and am just inside CalsGrin.
Just need to get DCs off to bed so we can enjoy it in peace.

janflan · 29/08/2012 20:35

So far so good, 3 days now and counting. Have been super busy today with work so haven't really thought about snacking. No exercise apart from mowing the lawns.

Ds has just reminded me i have 3/4 of a tub of Ben and jerry's in the freezer! How I'd forgotten about that i don't know. I'm not eating it though the boys can share it tomorrow. I don't even fancy it and that's very strange.

Another sneaky weigh this morning and i was +1lb so i need to stop that now and wait until Monday.

MilkshakeMaker · 29/08/2012 21:04

Yeah its frustrating seeing it fluxuate isnt it janflan, No more sneaky previews till Monday when it will actually count!

StealthPolarBear · 29/08/2012 21:06

Ooh reastie you are looking lovely and slim and healthy :o

Well 2 days back into the diet and I dared to get weighed. 11st13 Shock which i think is only a lb or 2 over the lightest I've been. Can't believe it - almost 2 weeks off and very little on. I was expecting more like 12s4 or 12s5. There's something about this thread, I like it!
