Hi all, very quick check in before I go to bed. Have been dealing with horrible IL-related problem (check out relationships if you want to see how last week's AIBU has developed...) plus have been looking after friend of DS1 today as his mum had to go to a funeral.
Am home alone tonight and despite feeling crap because of above issues, have managed to avoid the Toblerone, cookies, chocolate swiss roll and cakes that DH bought as "extras" when he did the Tesco shop this morning.
Feeling good about that, and my weigh-in this morning (have now lost 19lbs in 6 weeks). Am just on a stone marker and would love to go under in the next week before the wedding we're going to next Friday when DH is best man so will hope that DH eats all the crap he bought so it's not there to tempt me over the weekend when he's working!

KatoPotato · 29/08/2012 22:24

High five stealth! I don't get it but it's amazing! This thread is magical!

InMySpareTime · 30/08/2012 07:36

Good morning everyoneSmile,
My DCs are playing on the wii fit, doing the yoga shoulder stand and making it look easyEnvy.
I am drinking a cup of tea and faffing about on here thinking "there's no way I could do that", but I am wearing my skinny jeans --and a cleavagey top, so I'll settle for looking fabGrin.

MrsPnut · 30/08/2012 07:40

Morning, we're back from wet and muddy camping and I slept in my own bed last night.

I now need to get all the washing done as well as have a massive clear out for a car boot sale on Saturday morning.

KatoPotato · 30/08/2012 11:01

~wheet wheel~ Inmy looking fab! Well I loved pilates, and might have a bit of a girl crush on the instructor! I do feel like I've been hammered in the tummy but that's good yas?

Welcome back mrsPnut nothing better than your own cosy bed!

Thursday is my day of rest, I fell on the scales and I'm not impressed but Monday is results day!

BonkeyMollocks · 30/08/2012 11:23

Hi, all.
Not doing great but not as badly.

Today has been planned and will be stuck to and I am planning on starting The Shred when dh goes to work later. Hope fully I will get my arse into gear and actually do it this time, rather than look at the case and chicken out. Blush

Hopefully I can pull it back abit and see a loss on Mon.

Welcome back MrsP did you have a good time despite the mud?

How are you today sleepy ?

slothprincess · 30/08/2012 12:13

Well girls, I plucked up the courage to stand on the scales this morning and was shocked that I don't think I've really put on much weight during my 2 weeks off the wagon!! Stealth, I agree it must be the magic of this thread. I'm going to do a proper weigh in first thing tomorrow and record that.

Joking aside, I do think this thread is magic. Because the thought of coming back on here with you all helped me rein in the eating and get back on track. You inspire me and are so lovely and supportive. Thank you. Thanks

nochipsthanks · 30/08/2012 12:19

Good morning all. Sleepy hope you are feeling better today. I read your AIBU and your relationships thread and feel quite a bit of contempt for your FIL. Adults who are petulent and who sulk are a pet peeve of mine. (Don't get me started).

My doc appointment was okay. Just said that if the chest pain comes again then I should call 999 and they will do further testing, but was probably just a once off. Maybe. I am never ill, so it was a real surprise.

Stuffed myself silly last night with creamy pasta with walnuts, but the bottle of wine we bought was off and had to be chucked so at least that limited the calories somewhat!

TheOneWithTheHair · 30/08/2012 12:39

Afternoon everyone. On the subject of this magic thread I have some thoughts if you'd like to hear them?

Of course you would and I'm going to tell you anyway! Grin

I think it's magic because everyone is so honest about having a bad day or having extra so it's not a big deal and doesn't mean the end of the weightloss. We see everyone picking up and trying again which is so normal it's easy to confess to a bad day. No one is being competitive at all and that is very, very rare in my opinion.

Also I think we are very good at giving encouragement or a kick up the bum if needed and the balance is good.

Lastly I think everyone makes a valid contribution and is generally listened to which is also invaluable.

Right I'll shut up now. Blush

reastie · 30/08/2012 12:51

Well said theone Grin , hadn't thought of it like that. I've found this thread absolutely great, think the non competitiveness has alot to play with that when I think about it.

Well, I'm off to the gym this afternoon to update my program. I will ask them to weigh me for a proper weigh in (they log it all and do a snazzy spreadsheet thing with it) . Given my last weigh in measurement was very suspiciously less than it should have been (I'm sure it was at the wrong place on the floor so it weighed me less than I should have) I'm hoping I won't be disappointed if it says I've gained weight as I know via my scales at home I've lost a few lbs bet the gym man will look at me sympathetically like I'm making it up though . Will update when I'm back - wish me luck!

nochips glad everything seems OK, hope it doesn't happen again.

kato glad you enjoyed the pilates. I think technique is everything - I did a pilates class in the past and it actually gave me a back injury Shock but my osteopath thought it was because the instructor wasn't correcting me when I did things slightly wrong Angry

nochipsthanks · 30/08/2012 13:02

I think you are right, TheOne

Usually, if I fall off the dieting wagon I get depressed and think they nothing I will do works, and throw it all away. Now though, I pick myself up and think that a wibble is not the end of the world. And that is because of this thread!

InMySpareTime · 30/08/2012 13:31

Kato the "punched in the stomach" feeling means you are doing it rightGrin. That's why I warned you, so it wouldn't be a surprise like it was to me , keep it up, it gets much easier soon, and makes clothes fit better quickly.
Hair you're right about this thread, IRL there's a bit of a taboo around talking about weight loss failure, it's easy to feel like everyone else has no wobbles.
Also, we're not crash dieting, we're making small changes and anticipating tempting situations to plan around them, which is a sustainable way to get weight off and keep it off.

reastie · 30/08/2012 15:52

Can I have a bit of positivity please? Weigh in at the gym. Now, I know I've lost weight since last weigh in there a few weeks ago, and last weigh in at the gym I was convinced the reading was wrong (you may remember be saying at the time). Turns out last reading was wrong - I'm now 0.5kg heavier than last reading Confused but actually I'm lighter, it's just the wrong reading making it look depressing, but it still has got me down. Plus, apparently I've only lost 0.3% fat since joining the gym 3 months ago despite being over a stone lighter and can now feel muscles in my arms and legs I couldn't before - this can't be accurate surely???

InMySpareTime · 30/08/2012 16:26

It's only an estimate of fat percentage based on hands/feet, it won't be accurate if you lose fat from e.g. Your abdomen.
What I'd take from your day is that you are a stone lighter and have more muscle definition, that's pretty positiveGrin.

reastie · 30/08/2012 16:31

Thanks inmy I know for me I'm doing pretty well overall, and have consistently lost 1-2 lbs a week for a couple of months, which is a good healthy way to do it....I just so want to be slim!!

Found http this and thought you might like to see what weight you've lost the equivalent of. I've lost a bald eagle Grin

MrsPnut · 30/08/2012 16:33

I wouldn't get too down about it Reastie. Muscle weighs more than fat and if you are toning up then your clothes will be fitting better as well as losing a stone.

The fat percentage tests at the gym are useless, they need to be done by a health professional to be of any use.

Bonkey - the camping was good thanks, the rain and mud did put a downer on it but our tent is pretty cosy.
I am sorting out stuff for a car boot on saturday morning, it's like a laundry in my house right now.

MrsPnut · 30/08/2012 16:34

I've lost a cinder block :o

TheOneWithTheHair · 30/08/2012 16:36

I've lost an average house cat. Grin

I'm going to save that page.

reastie · 30/08/2012 16:36

I just had to google what a cinder block is [thicko] Blush

TheOneWithTheHair · 30/08/2012 16:38

There are 14lbs in a stone right?

BonkeyMollocks · 30/08/2012 16:39

Got it! Grin

BonkeyMollocks · 30/08/2012 16:39

i think Confused

BonkeyMollocks · 30/08/2012 16:41

Right it seems I am back with it, all I have eaten today was chicken fajita's for lunch.

I'm not hungry now and dh has gone to work so I might have some cereal later.

There is no junk in the house because we are poor so no picking at anything either.

I'm thinking today will be my first proper day back on the wagon. It feels good!
