Couldn't get much more inspirational than the title of the first thread. We're doing this for ourselves. No one else outside family really cares if we're size 16 or size 10. No one else really benefits when we're slimmer. We take all the pain but get all the benefits. And it matters, we'll do anything to get there. Seriously assess - are you really doing all you can? Could you maybe cut out a bit more junk or exercise on the days you can't be bothered? If you really are doing all you can, brilliant. the weight will be coming off, slowly but surely. If, like me, you're thinking that maybe you could try a bit harder sign in here for your butt kicking.
do you want to be fat at christmas?

Krumbum have you done this on lots of threads then?

Krumbum · 12/08/2012 21:06

If you actually read what I'm writing I'm saying very positive things. Don't want to bring anyone down.

Fairenuff · 12/08/2012 21:07

So are you assuming that I want to lose weight for sexist reasons? Are you assuming that because I am a woman?

BonkeyHasGOLDMollocks · 12/08/2012 21:08

Gah!

Krumbum · 12/08/2012 21:09

No, I've just seen often on threads there is a person with a differing opinion and people don't usually delete the thread over it.

Fairenuff · 12/08/2012 21:10

Are you going to answer any of my questions, or are you full of hot air?

Krumbum · 12/08/2012 21:11

I'm saying 'dieting' is very gendered. And fat hatred is very pointed at women.

Fairenuff · 12/08/2012 21:11

Bit of a generilsation there Krumbun. Care to elaborate. Are we 'women' on mass, or are we individuals?

BonkeyHasGOLDMollocks · 12/08/2012 21:12

I'm saying 'dieting' is very gendered. And fat hatred is very pointed at women.

Errrr...no its not Hmm

I know loads of men who are diet/healthy eating plans etc . What a load of tosh!

Krumbum · 12/08/2012 21:12

I've never met a women, or spoken to a woman online that doesn't dislike their body. And thats fucking depressing.

MilkshakeMaker · 12/08/2012 21:12

Right well you've said your piece and its clear we are all happy with the wording used. You can move on to another thread now.

Krumbum · 12/08/2012 21:13

What yes women on mass when it comes to society pressuring women to look a certain way, obviously.

Krumbum · 12/08/2012 21:14

Milkshake. People are still asking me questions so...

Fairenuff · 12/08/2012 21:14

So you think we are not individuals then?

Fairenuff · 12/08/2012 21:15

I think Krumbum should finish what she started. If that't what she really believes then she is just as sexist as those she pretends to oppose.

Krumbum · 12/08/2012 21:18

Obviously you are. But when talking about how patriarchy attempts to oppress women then clearly it is attempting to do that to women as a group. Same as oppression of any group.

Fairenuff · 12/08/2012 21:18

(Sorry, btw, to the rest of you. If you want us to take this debate to a separate thread I'm happy to do that).

But it f**ks me off when people think they can dictate my life because theirs is so enlighted, when they know not one tiny thing about me.

Especially when it's disguised as sexism which is bollocks. Feminism is about individual choice. If you don't get that, then you are blinkered by the society you profess to scorn.

MilkshakeMaker · 12/08/2012 21:20

Well I'm off MN for tonight then.

Good luck for the WI for whoever has it in the morning, and keep it up to everyone else who has a few more days!

Fairenuff · 12/08/2012 21:21

Krumbum if any one of us feels oppressed then we will let you know. How about that.

The only oppressor on this thread is you.

Sorry, but those prejudiced views are not welcome here. As I said, if you want to discuss this on another thread, let me know.

TheLightPassenger · 12/08/2012 21:21

Krum - I completely agree with you re:gendering of diet, body hatred etc. But that still doesn't stop me being unhealthy even at my current weight, many women would be fit and health at my weight, I draw the short straw. I couldn't give a flying fig about my dress size, I do care about my BMI, as for me BMI is connected with my health.

StealthPolarBear · 12/08/2012 21:23

krumbum please show me exactly where I suggested deleting this thread?

OP posts:
Krumbum · 12/08/2012 21:23

But we don't live in a society that allows choice. We live in a society that pushes us into acting certain ways. Just saying think about it. Question it. Look at why there is so much more pressure on women to look a certain way (that includes weight), because there obviously is and it's wrong.
If you still wanna then fair. I'm not saying don't.
I can have an opinion, I'm not dictating anything.

BonkeyHasGOLDMollocks · 12/08/2012 21:26

have you gone on other weight loss support threads and 'stated you opinion'?

Fairenuff · 12/08/2012 21:27

Of course we live in a society that allows choice!

Do you agree that I can choose to lose weight if I want. Do you agree that can seek support from like minded people if I want?

I'm not pressured. No-one is telling me. I don't give two hoots to what 'society' dictates. But it does give me loads of choice. I want to make the decisions that are best for me. Why shouldn't I? Why are you telling me I'm wrong?

StealthPolarBear · 12/08/2012 21:29

Krumbum you have seen this thread as a good opportunity to have an argument you want to have, against something that none of us have actually said. I think you proved that when you talked about deleting the thread, which was completely and utterly wrong - threads run their course and we start a new one, I and others made the reasons clear but you want to make it about censorship.
Sloppy arguing, and just shows you don't actually have a clue.
Oh and by the way I didn't find "what a horrible thread" very positive - really really struggling to find the positive message in there. Hmm. Admit it, you wanted a fight. We don't.
