Yes, when the choice is eat more or breathe it may help me muster some willpower

Oblomov · 12/07/2012 18:23

Do you guys weigh yourself once a week? Are you tempted to weigh yourself more often, but try not to surcome?
I only ask because I have never dieted before. Or rather any attempts to lose weight have never lasted more than a DAY. Seriously, THAT bad!!
And I think I have been dieting since sunday, or was it monday, oh bugger, can't remember, so I think I have managed 4 days. Which is a record for me.
So, shall I leave it a week, before I weigh?

StealthPolarBear · 12/07/2012 19:02

It's up to you. I was similar until last summer. the weight dropped off. But it may not, so maybe weigh but bear in mind that it may not reflect your efforts - YET!

TheOneWithTheHair · 12/07/2012 19:06

It varies Oblomov. I do it on Mondays. I did it on Tuesday this week because I wasn't here on Monday.

Some do a check halfway through the week and some weigh everyday.

I think if you want to know if your 4day record (congratulations by the way) is making a difference and want to check there's no harm in it.

Official record your weight day seems to be Monday on this thread but if you achieve a loss and want to share before then go right ahead and we can celebrate with you. If you gain and want to share we'll all try to encourage and put you on the right track.

eighty that is fantastic!!!!! That is not really 'caving'. For me, i would have had heaps of crisps, 'one' glass of wine... then 'bugger it' glasses of wine then i would have inhaled a cheeseburger from the kebab shop a couple of doors down. I am really impressed that you avoided that!

Well done kato! That is fantastic!!!

I am 10 stone 10 this morning, so down from 3 pounds from yesterday- probably it is a bit of a 'correction' from my sudden upswing, but i am delighted none the less, as it is still down at least 2 pounds from my starting weight. But today have an early start at work and a late finish and meeting my cousin at the pub tonight, so I need to be strong..... taking WW soup, ryvitas and boiled eggs with me to work. Planning on soup at the pub- just hope it is not the ubiquitous broccoli and stilton soup.... yuck... and so calorific!

Good luck for today everyone!

slothprincess · 13/07/2012 09:00

That's great kato! Not surprised you are delighted with that result.

eighty, I had a little indulgance last night too. I went out for dinner and ordered a calorific main course, a glass of wine and then had a pudding too. It was a lovely evening and like you I'm determined not to let it spoil the good progress I've made over the past couple of weeks. chips, I definately usually have the same all or nothing mentality. Little slip ups are usually the downfall of my healthy eating plans.

whyme2 · 13/07/2012 10:22

Oh I quite agree - those little slip ups can send me way of course sadly. But saying that I am managing to stay steady this week. I had a quick weigh this morning out of curiosity and haven't lost anything but I know my food intake has been good and I have done miles and miles of walking this week so something must happen between now and Monday's weigh in. >

I am slightly regretting promising dd3 a lunchtime trip to McD's today though as she is home from nursery today. Might have to check the website and see what is manageable. . .

MammaTo2boys · 13/07/2012 10:28

Hi all,
Well done Kato that is a good weight loss.
Eighty I think you did really well last night, that wasn't a cavein, you were definitely only moderately nibbling. Congratulations on passing that test.
Well I've been absent for a week as I've been silly. Weighed myself last friday and I'd lost 3lbs, I then went and binged for 4 days, I went totally out of the zone Blush. Mananged to get a grip of myself on Tuesday and have managed a 1 lb loss today so that is 7lbs in 3 weeks. So I'm now 11 stone 7lbs. That means I've got 2 stone to lose to get to pre pregnancy weight.
Hope everyone is well and staying in the zone xx

KatoPotato · 13/07/2012 10:58

Ooooh Kettle Chips! well done Eighty that is marvelous restraint! I've been known to use my crisps to skim flat layers off hummus so I never see a visible 'dip' in progress!

MammaTo2boys · 13/07/2012 15:28

Managed a great achievement this afternoon. Its been 33 days since I gave birth to DS2 and finally managed to do a run without peeing myself.

StealthPolarBear · 13/07/2012 15:39

Well done everyone.
I am doing fairly well, shredded today and yesterday and managed a "small" portion of pasta last night but serious chocolate cravings are really letting me down and I am eating far too much. Does anyone have words of wisdom?

TheOneWithTheHair · 13/07/2012 15:46

Have you tried the frozen gropes yet Stealth?

TheOneWithTheHair · 13/07/2012 15:47

Grapes ShockBlushGrin

StealthPolarBear · 13/07/2012 15:51

Lol, only when dh gets into bed having washed his hands in cold water!
I haven't, does that really work? Will add grapes to shopping list I think.

TheOneWithTheHair · 13/07/2012 15:57

It works quite well. Red or black are sweeter.

whyme2 · 13/07/2012 16:49

Is it time of the month stealth.

The thing I've found is when I am really craving something it is best I if have some. Often having the item when I first crave it is better in the long run as I don't think about for days and then give and scoff mountains of it. Of course some things are mere passing thoughts and not actual cravings and it is important not to think of every thought as a craving kettle chips as this can lead you way off course.

Are you being kind to yourself in other ways Stealth? Eat for health and not necessarily weight loss can be a good in between place to be too.

StealthPolarBear · 13/07/2012 16:50

It was, last week. That was my excuse then. Now its getting silly
