Morning all! I am out visiting clients all day so am eating on the run.
Plan: porridge and banana for breakfast: tomato soup and sliced chicken with greek salad for lunch: a small pack of M&S fish sushi for dinner. I have had milk in my coffee, but am on Day 2 of no alcohol.
Good luck everyone!

StealthPolarBear · 27/06/2012 11:41

Good luck twll

KatoPotato · 27/06/2012 12:31

I ended up having a weight watchers bagel toasted with a tablespoon of smooth skippy! 250 cals not bad

But DS and I have just made Thomas tank engine cupcakes and there was much licking of spoons (from me, he lost interest within minutes)

Oxtail cuppa soup for lunch... Whoop :(

wherearemysocks · 27/06/2012 12:33

Afternoon all,

So I managed to get to the end of yesterday without picking too much in the evening.

I've managed level 1 of ripped in 30 this morning, and had a high protein brekkie again.

So we are eating out tonight, at a Spanish restaurant so hopefully there should be some healthy choices on the menu. I've already decided to skip the wine as alcohol tends to wipe out any will power I have. Now the big question is dessert - to have or not to have?

bacon · 27/06/2012 12:43

I'm in a similar situation - 18 want to be 12 (was 12 stone now 11st 6) I am desperate. Ive been cutting down and more careful since Jan however the last 3 months I have been swimming, kettlebells and rower however my weightloss is hopeless!

I haven been doing lower carbs as no carbs is impossible for me and the lifestyle I have. I have been eating minimal carbs and when eating them having small portions and wholemeal. Not eating fruit and excellent diet. Also given up alcohol as it doesnt agree with me yet I am getting fustrated that its not dropping off me.

I'm sick of seeing big women lossing weight after eating a normal meals and a bit of exercise becoming size 10 yet I have always been a strict routine eater with little exercise but its not happening here and its seriously getting me down now.

What is going on?

slothprincess · 27/06/2012 12:50

NeverAgain I'm really impressed with your will power and resolve at the conference. I know it all went a bit wrong at the end of the day, but I don't think you are weak willed at all.

I found a recipe online for falafel burgers that I've just made for lunch. They were tasty, filling and very healthy. If anyone fancies making them, the recipe was on the bbc good food website. Let me know what you think.

I'm very impressed at you shredders. I need to get off my ample backside and do it, as it's teasing me from the TV cabinet. I even bought a new sports bra to do it and I've only worn that once!

travellingwilbury · 27/06/2012 16:28

How is everyone doing ? I am doing well on the food thing and I have walked more than usual but I can't do shred today , I don't think my legs would stand it .

LollipopViolet · 27/06/2012 17:04

OK, did well on the exercise, and NEARLY had an OK food day.

Had some pork scratchings earlier :( I wouldn't mind but I logged them on MFP and it was 600 cals for 100g :( Good thing I had loads of exercise calories from the gym!

Won't be doing THAT again! I've also already logged my dinner, so I don't forget later :)

herecomesthsun · 27/06/2012 17:31

13st 10lb, down 2lb supposedly. Have acquired running kit, Enell bra and cushiony trainers. Went running with DH as "personal trainer". He pushed the pram and I ran up and down. We may have looked quite funny. We did 60s running, 90s walking, for about 45 mins.

Do I need to wash my running gear after every session? DH says he never did, but then he's a bloke. am wondering how best to prolong its life!

Have had porridge with fruit and slice toast for breakfast, cooked "breakfast" I'm afraid for lunch with eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, mushrooms 1 slice toast. 1 banana and 1 pear for snacks. Pizza and salad for tea, yum. Maybe baked apples and yoghurt too.

LollipopViolet · 27/06/2012 17:36

I don't do running. I can't even run on the treadmill, the most I can do is a brisk walk.

I'm not very good at exercise lol :)

I prefer lifting heavy things up, then putting them back down again. Repeatedly. Yeah, I lift weights :)

TheOneWithTheHair · 27/06/2012 17:43

I've been good with food today but no exercise today again. Ds2 is definitely going back to play group tomorrow. He's been fine today but clearly bored!! He's been going from one activity to the next every two minutes.

It's been exhausting!

TheOneWithTheHair · 27/06/2012 18:10

Nothing wrong with walking Lollipop. I walked a full marathon in may last year with my best friend. It was over night for charity. It was hard work but because of the practice walks before hand I was reasonably fit.

I don't run either. Couldn't run for a bus but I'll quite happily walk 26miles.

NeverAgain2 · 27/06/2012 18:12

slothprincess thanks for your words of encouragement Smile

So far, so good food wise today - have got through loads of sugar free gum though, someone tell me that this is not too bad for me.

herecomesthsun - that sounds like an excellent exercise session. Like Lollipop I am more of a weight girl, when I was getting to the gym my fav class was body pump.

I am thinking about joining the gym again, but given that I have not yet got off my arse to do 20 minutes of shred, will hold that thought for a while.

Anyone got any low carb tips for evening snacking?

herecomesthsun · 27/06/2012 18:33

Well, my motivation is in part that I have had gestational diabetes x 2 and want to reduce the risk of diabetes in later life if poss. I cut down a lot on carbs when pregnant!

my suggestions for low carb snacks-
-1/2 avocado,
-raspberries or strawberries and low fat Greek yoghurt (or cream),
-nuts,
-apple and a piece of cheese,
-lettuce with Caesar salad dressing,
-Parma ham and melon
-hard boiled egg and sliced tomato
-tuna and grilled peppers

It does depend on whether you want snack to be low fat too and how low carb you want to go!

herecomesthsun · 27/06/2012 18:36

Oh and I am not a natural runner either, but we live in a beautiful part of the world and running would be an ideal way of getting fit. If I could get to an improved level of fitness on mat leave then running some short sessions when I get back to work might be enough to maintain it (hopeful)

NeverAgain2 · 27/06/2012 18:51

Thanks herecomesthsun.

I am really, in essence doing Dukan I guess, with a bit of Atkins thrown in for when I wander off the beaten track.

With Dukan, people seem to do daily weigh -ins but I will do my first one tomorrow. It seems a lot longer than three days...

FurCough · 27/06/2012 20:02

Evenin' all. Moxxie I lurve the BBC good food site, it's so extensive and easy to find the healthy stuff. Good tip.

I'm still pondering the right way to go diet-wise and spent a while reading through the low-carb threads on here. I couldn't be that strict. I know me, I'd fuck it up through ignorance or lapse in willpower and the whole ketosis thing would be buggered.

So It's got to be low-cal I reckon. Might venture to a SW class when I move house. It's not to whoopy and cult-like, is it? I won't be expected to hug anyone, will I?

LollipopViolet · 27/06/2012 20:35

I am a tad annoyed. My local pool only has a "Fun Session" on on Friday morning when I was planning to go. This means I can't go as have no child and there will be floats, toys etc all over the pool.

Can't say I mind that, per se, it's just they snuck the change up on me, the timetable used to have a simple leisure swim at that time.

Ah well, gym session number 3 it is then :)

wherearemysocks · 27/06/2012 22:22

FurCough, to be so low carb that you go into ketosis is really difficult, you have to have something like less than 20g of carb. I try to keep my carbs less than 100/150g. I find just having them this low and increaing my protein instead eliminates the surgar highs and lows and has helped me feel full and avoid evening snaking.

Do you use MFP? It tracks carbs and protein and fats as well a just calories. And if you are counting cals don't go too low as you'll slow your metabolism down too much.

travellingwilbury · 28/06/2012 07:08

Morning all , I have weighed today , I am going to do monday and thursday to keep me motivated and hopefully on track over the weekends .

I have already lost 3 pounds Grin

I am very happy , I just need to keep going and not do what I normally do , which is lose a few pounds the first week and then get bored and give up .

Good luck to everyonje for today , I am going to attempt the evil shred again today , I am still bloody aching but better than yesterday .

StealthPolarBear · 28/06/2012 07:15

Well done travelling and with u on the not wanting to lose motivation thing. I also have lost 3lb since last week and so I think its time to officially say I have lost 4st in the last year. It was beginning of July when I started and I was 16s6, am now 12s7. My BMI is around thr 26 mark. I've dropped 2 dress sizes. I am so proud of myself and so desperate to keep going. I am living proof that someone who binge eats for comfort and has no willpower can lose weight.

travellingwilbury · 28/06/2012 07:23

Wow stealth that is brilliant , 4 stone is such good going !

What are you hoping to get down to ? tbh I will be happy at 11 stone and a size 14 , I got down to that before and I was comfy and felt good in my clothes , for me to lose any more than that I really would have to be an exercise nut and never eat bread again , which is just not realistic .

My problem is eating when bored so I am trying to keep busy and I drive a lot for work so normally I have sweets in the car but they have now been banished and replaced with chewing gum and water .

FurCough · 28/06/2012 07:38

Stealth that is phenomenal - 4 stone! You must be really proud of yourself :)

And well done on ditching the first few pounds, travelling - keep that motivation and it'll be the first few of many.

wherearemysocks that's interesting about protein / carbs. I put yesterday's food into MFP and I'd been loading up on low-fat carbs which isn't actually very effective, is it? My calories were too low and my carbs were waaay high. Time for a rethink. Lean proteins it is, then..

Do you mind me asking what a typical breakfast, lunch and dinner might be for you?

OddBoots · 28/06/2012 08:07

Good morning all.

Well, my weight seems to be coming off well but I have a lot to lose and I'm being very, very strict with myself and also drinking loads so most of it will be water but I'm very pleased with 8lbs in a week.

I work in a pre-school an it was our sports day yesterday, one of the parents got up at the end and declared a staff race and I bowed to the peer pressure and took part (everyone else did, I would have stood out if I didn't and most of the parents don't know about my back problems) - I regret it now, mostly because it hurts but partially because I didn't realise how much me running looks like I have an invisible three-legged-race partner! Oh well.

I hope you're all doing well, there are some great losses here, especally as this heat after all that rain will be causing some water retention.

MilkshakeMaker · 28/06/2012 08:36

Morning Ladies,

I didn't want to come on here as i was v. naughty last night, however i've logged all of it in mfp and was technically still under my goal for yesterday after i added the exercise, But i still feel naughty as it wasnt healthy, I cant see myself being able to stuff myself with steak and GU puddings every day of the week even tho mfp says i can!!

travelling Well done!! Thats a great idea doing the midweek thing, its win win because it will keep you motivated or spur you on to work harder

You are all putting me to shame!!
