6 weeks, one stone to lose - anyone care to join me?

Hello all - am off on holiday second week of August and have rather cunningly managed to weigh in at exactly 1 stone heavier than I'd like to be (through a combination of over eating and not exercising) so am giving myself a challenge - 6 weeks, lose a stone (or as near as damn it). Anyone care to join me?

Rules (that I'm imposing for myself are)

  • 3 meals a day - if snacking between meals fruit only
  • drink at least 11/2 litres of water/herbal tea a day
  • one small treat a day
  • try and fit in exercise at least 4 times a week
  • weigh in only once a week

Hi all, I haven't posted in ages. Has been crazy busy around here but here's my update.
I've been pretty OK at sticking to the Tesco diets. Only lost 1lb last week but that's a total of 7 1/2 lbs so not toooo bad and all in the right direction at least. My weigh in day is Friday so I hope I'll get to 10st 1lb ( or better ... here's hoping) by then.
Trying not to weigh myself too often.
friendly I also notice a big difference between my weight in the evening and in the morning. So I take my "base" weight at the lowest point, first thing in the morning, after a pee, naked about to hop in the shower.
I haven't gotten much excercise in this week because of the weather and had things going on in the evening... however, I have managed a huge declutter of the house ( off topic but good for my self esteem Grin) so it's all good.
Just over three weeks to my holiday... fingers crossed I'll get there!
Everyone's doing so well, hopefully will check in again this evening and read back on the pages I've missed.

Omletta - we must be diet twins! Have had a better day today - am blaming work stress too! We can't let it make us fat though!!!!! Good luck for rest of the week! Wink

popsypie · 18/07/2012 21:08

Thanks dinkystinky for your support Wink

omletta · 18/07/2012 21:26

Hey popsypie spooky!
Today has no been a good day for me either and worse the event for which I was dieting, in order to wear a beautiful dress, is looking very shakey - have lost all motivation and am eating toast with chocolate Philly. Crap, oh crap! Also couldn't be arsed to exercise and ring caught a cab to town instead of walking (although in my defence I was very late of my meeting)
Going to be super good tomorow.

omletta · 18/07/2012 21:27

And now it seems I can't spell or use the correct grammar .....oh woe is me.

popsypie · 18/07/2012 21:48

Omletta - get those teeth brushed and get to bed. Sleep will make it all better! Night night Grin

omletta · 19/07/2012 13:21

cheers popsypie. I wasnt even drunk!

This is hard, hard work isnt it. I find it so difficult to keep going when things arent going so well in other respects. I am absolutely craving chocolate and fried things.

Ive been restrained so far today and am playing squash this PM so that will earn me a few more calories to scoff later.

Looking forward to seeing all the Friday loosers progress tomorow.

blackcatsdancing · 19/07/2012 13:31

it is hard isn't it? i hadn't really realised how much i depend on food to help me when i'm down, strssed or a bit bored. Must admit i do miss it in some ways- though i'm hoping i will eventually be able to live by that thing kate Moss said "nothing tastes as good as being thin does" or something similar. well maybe not as if being thin means a lifetime on denial i'd rather stick with a few extra pounds on me. Hopefully there is a middle ground. Some people maintain weight loss by staying strict Mon-Fri then eating whatever they like at the weekends- but in normal size portions.

omletta · 19/07/2012 14:55

Yes I know people who manage to do that too Black, I would really struggle though as I have to dine for my job, and its during the week that I get stressed and need the chocolate.

After Christmas I did the intermitent diet, where two days of the week you eat 650 calories, or less. Its tough but they dont have to be consequtive days and if you plan well you can made 650 seem like quite a lot. Because it is just for one day at a time you dont feel too hard done by, and can generaly carry on untill the next day. I lost a few pounds on it, but the weight loss wasnt fast enough for me but once I am where I want to be I might use it for maintaining.

popsypie · 19/07/2012 18:22

Omletta - I did not think you were drunk!!! Just in need of an early night! I am really exhausted and keep thinking something to eat will perk me up. I feel dead flabby.
Am off for the school hols from tomorrow so will have 2 personal trainers at home keeping me busy! Am hoping they will keep me active. But yes blackcats it is really tough! Grin

blackcatsdancing · 19/07/2012 22:22

strong cravings tonight. fighting hard and tomorrow is my weight in!

justaminute · 20/07/2012 08:20

Pants! Another pound on I'm back to where I started Angry

I've upped the exercise but the food intake has increased too and it's not been good. Hopefully I can be strict for the next 3 weeks.

Hope you are all losers Wink

blackcatsdancing · 20/07/2012 08:36

justaminute if you know what caused the gain then you can make changes . hope you have better luck next week.

i couldnt weigh in today was the bathroom was being used and i always weigh after a pee and before my first cuppa, so i'll weigh in on sunday which is end of week for me. I didn't completely cave in last night. had an ice lolly at 36 calories and later a small hot chocolate made with scant tsp hot chocolate powder and 1/2 cup semi skim milk.

good luck to any weighers.

Today will be a challenge as i am baking for the first time during my diet.

dinkystinky · 20/07/2012 10:38

Hmm, scales clearly broken as they had me down at 4 stone 5lbs this morning Hmm So no WI for me this week - will be picking new scales up next week. Doesnt feel like I've lost anything though...

JAM sorry about the gain - are you tracking food? Maybe come on here evey day to say what you had -the thought of having to put it all down on a piece of paper may help stop biffing. And remember to drink lots and lots of water

blackcatsdancing · 20/07/2012 12:17

well i made a batch of blueberry muffins, licked the spoon (of course) and had 1 (warm) for breakfast with a coffee. I know i can resist those left so feeling pretty good.
what doesn't get eaten today will be frozen.

dinky how annoying needing new scales! and agree with the water tip. Try to get in the habit of having a glass of water first before anything else. Its something i'm working on too.

fedupofnamechanging · 20/07/2012 13:11

Hi all. Have lost 3lbs since my last weigh in, so am happy with that today. Have been a bit stressed and not always reaching my 1200 calorie limit - I know that has to stop or I will end up in starvation mode.

One thing I have noticed though, is that since giving up sugar in tea and coffee and generally reducing sugar in my diet, I am now finding smaller bars of chocolate more satisfying, whereas I used to be able to eat 4 bars per day and not be sick of the stuff.

I fancy M&S birthday cake, with all the buttercream and icing. Not good at 330 calories per slice!

focuson · 20/07/2012 13:21

Afternoon all - 2lb down for me now 9 stone 9lb - lost 12lb - 9lb to go. Was a bit surprised with loss as did not exercise as much as end of term and lots on for the kids. Here is to a good week for us all

popsypie · 20/07/2012 16:09

Well done to all you Friday weighers! Am out for a meal tonight and as end of term I am now the owner of about twenty boxes of chocolates!!! Have resisted so far though - trick is to only open them in company when they go fast!

springlenner · 20/07/2012 16:42

Well done focuson and karmabeliever - you are doing so well! focuson 12lb!!!! I'm jealous. Envy
JAM just keep your eyes on the prize. This is not easy. We'd all be stick thin if it was.
I weighed in this morning at 10 1 1/2 - so 2 lbs down on last week which is good. But I am sooooo impatient. I neeeeeed to get below 10st this week. Only three weeks to go and 4 1/2 lbs to lose - which is only my first target to lost a stone before the holidays but really I'm best at 9 1/2 stone and my ultimate ( but I think unrealistic) target is 9 stone 2.
Been OK today, fruit salad for breakfast and greek salad for lunch but then half a bar of aero that was lying around this afternoon. Out to dinner with the school mummies tonight so there'll be wine and pasta +++
Best of luck everyone...

fedupofnamechanging · 20/07/2012 17:15

Thank you spring

blackcatsdancing · 22/07/2012 08:46

well done karma and focuson, great stuff!

i've lost 1 pound this week. bit miffed its not more but a pound is a pound. so at the end of 4 weeks i've lost just over 6 pounds. Thighs feel thinner and tummy smaller so pleased. getting bored though so glad only 2 weeks to go. Need to make more of an effort with finding different things to eat than roast chicken and salad. Also last 2 weeks i shall try to curb my bread intake. This week i've eaten more bread than usual which may explain less weight off.

blackcatsdancing · 22/07/2012 09:40

suppose i should say that i don't calorie count and don't have time/patience for fitness pal or anywhere you have to write down exact measures of food. i do note in my diary what i've eaten and i have cut out snacks and am trying to eat less fatty foods. I'm going to try to drop my evening glass of wine too- unless I really need it after a bad day!
what else? think i'm going to be exercising more as my allotment needs loads of attention or i'll get kicked off it, though i will have to eat more if i'm doing that or i will keel over, so will balance out i think.
that's it. Good luck to any sunday weighers!

popsypie · 22/07/2012 20:49

Am dreading weigh in tomorrow! Have been quite bad this week - lacking motivation. Think I should have joined club - my kitchen floor not the same, I need someone looking at me sternly saying "what went wrong this week?" Wink

sylvev · 23/07/2012 07:49

First weigh in this morning, a little anxious due to dodgy weekend with chocolate and meals out. Pleasantly surprised to have lost 2lbs Smile. Now 10.12. I have 12lbs to lose in 5 weeks, must keep focused, good luck with your weigh-ins everyone.
