6 weeks, one stone to lose - anyone care to join me?

dinkystinky · 22/06/2012 13:37

Hello all - am off on holiday second week of August and have rather cunningly managed to weigh in at exactly 1 stone heavier than I'd like to be (through a combination of over eating and not exercising) so am giving myself a challenge - 6 weeks, lose a stone (or as near as damn it). Anyone care to join me?

Rules (that I'm imposing for myself are)

  • 3 meals a day - if snacking between meals fruit only
  • drink at least 11/2 litres of water/herbal tea a day
  • one small treat a day
  • try and fit in exercise at least 4 times a week
  • weigh in only once a week

also fairly pleased with yesterday as its my hard day at work. did ok all day and am kicking my biscuit habit . Also went into the local M & S food- about the only place near where i work i can go to at lunch -i work in a housing suburb close to a retail park, and i didn't even think of their lovely freshly baked scones or croisssants!

Claim the lowest reading

dinkystinky · 13/07/2012 10:25

Morning all - JAM sorry about the gain. Pesky biscuits! Friendly - I'd just go for the average reading.

Had end of term drinks last night so feeling rather hungover today and have just had a bacon roll and orange juice ot help me feel human, so suspect today may be a bit of a write off. I managed to weigh in this morning in my hungover haze and was pleasantly surprised to find I've managed to lose 3lbs this week (which was probably due to stress over school angst). Taking account of the lb I put on in the first week, I've lost a grand total of 3.5lbs so far in the 3 weeks which sounds about right. Will be aiming to up the exercise next week in the hopes of ensuring i continue to lose.

I think my scales have the mind of their own. Anyway, trying to eat healthy and if I have slip ups just carry on with the healthy food right after. See what happens. Might need new scales... More agreeable ones LOL.

blackcatsdancing · 13/07/2012 16:53

well done on the weight loss so far dinky.
i'm wondering why i'm weighing on fridays when i started this on a sunday?? lets see if i can make it 6 pounds in 3 full weeks on sunday. Been very hungry past 2 days. No chance of skipping meals but have managed to stay away from snacks.
and no rain today meant i did a long walk, 10,000 steps.

focuson · 13/07/2012 21:00

Measly 1 lb for me mind u start 13 June 10 stone 7 lb, today 13 July 9 stone 11 lb. Total loss 10 lb, now last 11 to shift x gosh hard work will reply to others once had dinner

popsypie · 13/07/2012 21:20

Well done all Friday weighers for sticking with it and staying positive. Am hoping for an active weekend. Not done much exercise this week. Fingers crossed for sunny days Grin

omletta · 14/07/2012 10:28

I'm after some decent weather to motivate me to exercise too, otherwise the Monday weigh in is going to be very poor indeed!

Rain, rain go away.....

blackcatsdancing · 14/07/2012 13:46

1 pound off is better than nothing and 10 pounds off so far is great focus

i'm struggling today. Not overeaten yet but tense and nervy and would normally be in and out of the biscuit tin as i'm an emotional eater. Trying to be good. I guess if i feel like this at home then carrot sticks would be an option. At the moment sticking to extra water and endless cups of tea and coffee.

fedupofnamechanging · 14/07/2012 16:59

Hi dinky. Was on a thread with you and jam, way back, but ballsed up my diet and started over eating again. Can I join this thread?

Have been back on my diet for a little while now and have managed to lose one stone, but now weigh 11st, 11lbs and want to get down to 9 stone.

Am calorie counting and have managed to cut out sugar from my tea and coffee. Am eating much more healthily and only having one curly wurly as a daily treat.

Safs123 · 14/07/2012 18:55

I've been out all day shopping with the family which is always stressful and only had a coffee at breakfast. We were all hungry by 5 and I refused to take them to macdonalds, but then hubby bought them doughnuts and I caved and had one because I was so hungry. Am making dinner now and will have only salad and pasta to make up for it. I'm really angry about the doughnut because I was doing so well this week and have probably just put on a pound.
SIGH!

popsypie · 14/07/2012 20:08

Rainy day again here omletta! Also very stressful day with kids -lots of tantrums as all on top of each other! Ahhhhh -come on sun - put your hat on - we want to go out to play!!!

Bad luck re the doughnut - that is just the sort of thing I do! I absentmindedly eat things I should not - one of my many downfalls!

justaminute · 14/07/2012 21:17

We meet again karma Smile. It sounds like you are on the right track, keep it up. Have you tried putting curly wurlies in the freezer? They last longer -probably because the toffee glues your teeth together more Grin

Well done on the loses dinky and focus I feel even more guilty now for gaining.

blackcat sorry to hear about the circumstances of your weight gain, take care of yourself as you get down to where you want to be. Your talk of skipping meals worries me

I finally dusted off the Shred yesterday. Prompted by my son flicking my bingo wings Blush and the realisation that it was 30 days to my holiday so I must do it every day. Day 2 just done and now I don't want to undo my hard work with Saturday night nibbles...double result!

There's talk of sunshine tomorrow so hopefully we can all get out for some fresh air and exercise.

fedupofnamechanging · 14/07/2012 23:57

My fillings have discovered the sticky nature of frozen curly wurly, but I don't care because, as you say, it lasts longer Grin

omletta · 15/07/2012 07:57

It rained all day here too popsypie really horrid, non stop rain. The sort of rain that wants you to curl up on the sofa with a good book and a family pack of Mars Bars ( without the actual family) but I was very good....and did 30ds L3 followed (yep, without stopping) by Killer B&T. I need to do them today too in order to make any difference to weigh in tomorow, I do think the good thing about a weigh in on a Monday is that is makes me control myself on a Sunday, which is traditionally my hardest day.

Hi karma I think we have met before too?

blackcatsdancing · 15/07/2012 14:19

thanks for concern justaminute. i do skip meals from time to time on this diet. For me getting used to being a bit hungry is important as too often i snack- either because i'm hungry and don't want to wait 30-60 mins for my next meal or because i'm feeling bored or emotional. I miss my snacks but its made me realise just how often i do mindlessly eat. Nothing is banned just trying to eat less overall ,avoid snacks and cut back a bit on the amount of fat i eat (especially in cakes and biscuits and salad dressings).

DP says i should start running and that will probably be my tactic when this 6 week diet ends. To start eating a bit more but also pick up my old running regime.

Well officially 3 weeks in today but same weight as my Friday weigh in, a little less on the fat register though. Down to 24.5 %, so lost 2 % of body fat and 5.5 pounds in 3 weeks. Hope to keep that up for next 3 weeks and then shall start running again, hopefully anyway. DP is a runner and we have been together a few times- though not for ages, its a good way to have fun and bond.

focuson · 15/07/2012 16:44

blackcat am very impressed with both weight loss and body fat. I am still not there with acknowledging how flabby I am but this morning brushed dust of my 30 day shred dcs and did level 1 as ds1 and partner were out and ds2 and chilling. Have discovered pimms as a low cal drink and determined to get back to 8 stone somethings and my lovely dresses.

fedupofnamechanging · 15/07/2012 16:47

Hi omletta

Am pissed off today - have put on half a pound. I know it's probably just water, but am annoyed nonetheless, as I didn't even have a gin and (slimline) tonic last night, despite accounting for it with my calories!

Been good today. Had 2 ryvitas and one banana and vegetarian cottage pie and a curly wurly. Gave dd the last of the Haagen Dazs, which was languishing in the bottom of the freezer!

focuson · 15/07/2012 16:50

karma are you using mfp that type of app is great for cal counting

fedupofnamechanging · 15/07/2012 17:05

Am using mfp - it's really useful. Stops me 'forgetting' about things because I feel compelled to log food straight away. Am allowed 1200 calories per day and I think I am sticking to it, although I do find it a bit hard to know calorie content for sure, when I am making food at home from scratch. I quite like packets, which tell you precisely what you are eating.

focuson · 15/07/2012 17:26

I use foodfocus and have logged meal ingreients I cook so works quite well so have soups , stress salads etc not exact but makes it all a little more easy

focuson · 15/07/2012 18:50

Not sure what a stress salad is ....

friendly7 · 15/07/2012 18:53

Hi girls. Well, my scales never repeated the low reading so I decided not to claim it. So, no lost but no gain either and considering it's weekend it is good for me. Will try harder in a week. Foodfocus sounds interesting focuson:)

fedupofnamechanging · 15/07/2012 19:33

I will have a look at foodfocus. Thanks for the suggestion

omletta · 16/07/2012 07:09

2ib off! Yippee - I am astounded as I had an accident yesterday with a box of maltteasers and several roast potatoes.

Just another 2lb to go.

Keep going everyone don't get despondent if your not loosing much,I repeat if it were easy everyone would do it
