6 weeks, one stone to lose - anyone care to join me?

Hello all - am off on holiday second week of August and have rather cunningly managed to weigh in at exactly 1 stone heavier than I'd like to be (through a combination of over eating and not exercising) so am giving myself a challenge - 6 weeks, lose a stone (or as near as damn it). Anyone care to join me?

Rules (that I'm imposing for myself are)

  • 3 meals a day - if snacking between meals fruit only
  • drink at least 11/2 litres of water/herbal tea a day
  • one small treat a day
  • try and fit in exercise at least 4 times a week
  • weigh in only once a week

well done sylvev. 2 pounds off is great!

i went a bit of the rails yesterday. was such a lovely day we ended up having an alfresco meal with goats cheese, stuffed mushrooms, lots of bread and wine (and salad and grilled calamari). didnt feel too guilty as was well deserved but bit annoyed later on as i didnt really need/want it but mindlessly had 2 squares of chocolate with my coffee.
Its just the fact that i didnt really want it that was annoying.

omletta · 23/07/2012 11:03

2lb off - and thats my stone!! Hooray. I am now at target, cant tell you how happy I am, just got to make sure I stay there now, instead of piling it all back on.

son98sonia · 23/07/2012 14:44

@omletta - WELL DONE! Wow, you're done!

@sylvev - Well done on your loss!!!

I on the other hand have lost nothing this week, and my weight keep changing between one lb and the next! :) Damn!

blackcatsdancing · 23/07/2012 15:26

omletta that is amazing ! really. a stone in 6 weeks is very hard work so well done!

dinkystinky · 23/07/2012 15:39

Thanks everyone, it was very, very hard work and the temptation to run to the vending machine and cram chocolate in my mouth is massive!!

Good luck to everyone else and thanks for your support.

popsypie · 23/07/2012 17:39

Wow omletta - I am so impressed! Very well done!!! I maintained so not too bad Smile

justaminute · 24/07/2012 14:33

Well done omletta you've shown it's possible AND you ate chocolate. Very impressed!

Thank you all for the words of encouragement. I had a busy weekend involving wine and lovely food but I'm intending to be zone like this week. The dcs are at a club in the mornings so I'm exercising then and eating early with the dcs rather than waiting for dh. I much prefer eating early.

So far this week I've done the daily shred, run 5 miles, a circuits class and 2 games of netball...phew! Surely the fat will be melting away in this heat.

justaminute · 27/07/2012 09:13

The yo-yoing continues. 2 lb off. Hopefully I can lose a few more ready for hols. Can I lose 6.5 to be under 11 in 2 weeks? Which limb should I sacrifice?!

dinkystinky · 27/07/2012 09:28

Arse bugger and crap. New scales have me down as heavier than when I started this blimming challenge. Thoroughly fed up but v pleased Omletta has shown it is possible. Well done on your loss JAM.

Hi all,

I will join dinky in being fed up - I have put on a lb, despite sticking to my diet. Am blaming the scales!

On a positive note, this has spurred me into retrieving the cross trainer from storage (bought in a fit of optimism some time ago and subsequently consigned to the shed) and using it for 25 minutes this morning. I am seriously unfit, so could do with changing that.

Good luck to everybody else, who are due a weigh in. A big well done to omletta

fedupofnamechanging · 27/07/2012 09:35

Well done jam. We x posted and i missed that you had lost this week

dinkystinky · 27/07/2012 09:49

Its a real annoyance isnt it Karma!

I had a feeling I'd put on weight as clothes fitting tighter and no fewer than 3 people offered me seats on the tube yesterday (clearly thinking I was pregnant - which I dont think I am). V annoyed as havent been this heavy since I was pregnant! Will be focusing extra hard over the next week with diet and exercise (which I thought I'd been doing this week anyway) and portion control to ensure I dont keep putting on weight.

Bummer karma and dinky. I'm several pounds lighter on my mum's scales I'm tempted to use her scales for my pre holiday weigh in Wink.

blackcatsdancing · 27/07/2012 14:57

well done justaminute. 2 pounds off is great! i'm weighing on sunday but know it won't look great. in fact whole week has been slipping, today had a small portion of fish and chips for lunch- went out to visit a local beach and thought we;d only be an hour as rain was forecast but ended up staying for 4 hours and no food on us. I don't feel bad about it at all and shall just make sure dinner is healthy and normal sized. i refuse to let a diet take over my life and completely believe the only way to make permanent weight loss is to have new way of eating, one that will include the odd fish and chip supper or the odd slice of birthday cake but is overall balanced. I think nutritionists say to aim for 80% good food (and i guess if prone to weigh gain then watch portion control).

focuson · 29/07/2012 16:19

Omletta that is amazing - and karma and dinky you are just experiencing temp blip. Well weighed myself Friday and another 2lb down. 14lb so far and now last 7lb to go to 9 stone goal. Struggling as virtually no formal exercise as hols some serious toning to do. Good luck all this week.

fedupofnamechanging · 04/08/2012 13:14

Hi all.

Weighed myself this morning and I have finally lost the 2lb that wouldn't shift for weeks. Am fighting the urge to celebrate with a piece of cake Grin. I spent yesterday revisiting my old university town and walked for about 7 hours, so I deserve to have dropped a bit of weight!

Hope weigh in went well for everybody yesterday.

justaminute · 04/08/2012 20:09

Good work Karma now "move away from the cake" Smile

Yesterday morning the scales said +1lb which spurred me out to do a run and this morning the scales were a sts. Naughty I know to weigh more than once a week but I'm taking today's WI Wink. This is my last week before hols I'm hoping for a weight loss miracle.

Dinky, when are you off?

blackcatsdancing · 05/08/2012 11:29

i went off the wagon 2 weeks ago but bravely stepped on the scales today, i don't seem to have gained any which is a relief and rather unexpected! I'll weigh again tomorrow to check that.

Today was the end of week 6 but i only did 4 weeks. i'm 8.11 today (i'm tiny for those who have forgotten). I've counted on and its 5 weeks until my daughters birthday- cue photo op and cakes so i'll do another 5 weeks for now. In 5 weeks hopefully i can lose between 5-10 pounds, that will take me to between 8.6 (max) and 8.1 (lowest). I have been 7.12 before but it was struggle. To be honest anything between 8 and 8.5 with a much more toned body would be great.

good luck to anyone else still on here and anyone wanting to join is very welcome.

wabetta · 18/08/2012 14:52
