6 weeks, one stone to lose - anyone care to join me?

Hello all - am off on holiday second week of August and have rather cunningly managed to weigh in at exactly 1 stone heavier than I'd like to be (through a combination of over eating and not exercising) so am giving myself a challenge - 6 weeks, lose a stone (or as near as damn it). Anyone care to join me?

Rules (that I'm imposing for myself are)

  • 3 meals a day - if snacking between meals fruit only
  • drink at least 11/2 litres of water/herbal tea a day
  • one small treat a day
  • try and fit in exercise at least 4 times a week
  • weigh in only once a week

Ps: my wrists are my slimmest bit - oh no - excuse gone here too!

Safs123 · 06/07/2012 21:07

is it too late to join u? I just found this thread. My baby is 16 weeks and I'm still wearing mat trousers! My thighs and belly r the worst. I'm going back to work in Sept and want to fit in my old clothes again.
I've started to cut down on snacks and have an old scd fitness dvd which I should use. I'll check out the shred on utube.
I'm aiming to lose 1 or 1.5 pounds a week.

Morning all late Friday weigh
I. - well done to all Friday loosers - 3lb loss for me :) so still on track 9lb lost so far 12lb to go ...

blackcatsdancing · 07/07/2012 07:57

welcome safs 1 -1.5 pounds a week is a good aim. you'll be out of those by the end of the summer easily!

well done focuson, you're doing so well. Are you doing much exercise?

blackcatsdancing · 07/07/2012 08:24

oops just looked back and saw i missed the words maternity trousers!

Safs123 · 07/07/2012 09:30

Pathetic, right? I'm bf exclusively and expected the weight to melt away. Prob is I hate running and haven't had time for the gym. I thought walking everywhere with a pram would help but my thighs are still huge, they're the reason I still wear the maternity trousers. I don't want to buy new clothes 2 sizes up from where I was before being pregnant.

Hi everyone I start mfp nearly 2 weeks ago (will be two weeks on Monday) started at 10.4.4 stone Sad I have been trying to stick to 1200 cals per day but go over most days, but I found in the days that I did stick to it I didn't loose anything the next day Confused

A couple of days ago I was down to 9.12.8 but today I am 9.13.2. But was dds birthday yesterday so I went way off track! Feeling much more positive about loosing weight right now, and I actually feel like I can and will do it!

I want to get down to 9 stone, but when I am 9.7 I will feel a lot happier Smile

Whitamakafullo · 07/07/2012 11:53

Well done on all the losses, I'm feeling very inspired reading this thread Smile

I measured my wrist and according to google I'm small framed - my arse I am!! I also measured my waist and I'm measuring 31 1/2 inches, which means I've lost an inch from the last time I measures it when I was a good half a stone lighter. How does that work?Confused

Anyway, I weighed myself this morning and I'm 4lb lighter than I was on Tuesday. I know it's probably all water but I'm mega happy with that Smile

focuson · 07/07/2012 12:31

Blackcat yes I have been swimming 3x week before work and two class - my first goal weight is 9 stone only 12lb to go but ideally it is 8stone 5-10. Am short also 5 foot so my end goal is ideal. Am eating loads mind you as clocking up exercise calories. Some very impressive losses on here well done all.

Stellarforstar · 07/07/2012 15:37

Lost 1.5 lb this week on this morning's weigh in :)

Still not enough excercise though, bloody weather.

blackcatsdancing · 07/07/2012 19:45

well done stellaforstar.
hmm yes the weather. i usually have a 20 minute walk in my lunch break (i work saturdays) but i'm not doing that in the rain so didn't fit one in today. However rain held off from being heavy so did walk both ways (no option anyway but to walk!)

popsypie · 07/07/2012 19:46

I defo need to exercise more - will get my dds out on their bikes tomorrow and jog alongside them - that is if it stops raining long enough. One dd is fine with rain, the other goes hysterical and immediately wants to go home. Not much fun. Avoided cake today, but had lots of haribo type sweets as filling party bags.

Had bath tonight and had awful realisation I will be in swimming cossie in five weeks. Am going to hold onto that thought to motivate me.... Grin

Hey all,

I did weigh in on friday, but was away, so couldn't post, but I'm quite pleased, I'm down to 11.7, from 12.3. Good news for me. And I wasn't even very good this week, no exercise.

blackcatsdancing · 08/07/2012 09:42

wow son that's an amazing loss. Even taking into account that some may be water you've still lost loads! I don't actually think exercise is essential to weight loss, not in the short term anyway, but it does keep your metabolism up, tones you up and so on. I've lost weight without exercising before. I also lost weight just by running so both can work. There is no doubt that the only way to keep the weight off long term is to make permanent new habits . Must admit i'd rather do more exercise and long term be able to eat bit more than do no exercise and have to eat like a sparrow for the rest my life.

tittytittyhanghang · 08/07/2012 09:52

hiya can i join too. I have about a stone to lose and have a birthday party in August so seems like a good target to work towards. I started the Biggest Loser diet/meal replacements about 10 days ago and it seems to be going well. My ds2 is now 18 months and so i don't think i can get away with saying Ive just had a baby anymore Grin At the moment I have gotten down to 11st 3 from 11st 10 in ten days although I know that the biggest loss is always in the first week or so and that the next few weeks will just be a lb or two each week. I'd like to be around the 10st mark. Is friday weigh in day?

blackcatsdancing · 08/07/2012 09:57

titty welcome and congrats on your weight loss so far. some people weigh on Friday, some on Sunday, does anyone weigh on a MOnday? I don't think it matters really just post your weekly loss. Today would be a good day to start.

tittytittyhanghang · 08/07/2012 10:10

cool i'll start today then and weigh in again next Sunday. Well done everyone else who has lost weight and good luck for the upcoming week.

Im having to be quite strict with myself on The Biggest Loser diet but I have only enough supplies for another four weeks and then will hopefully revert to healthier eating. I think knowing that I only have to be really strict for the next four weeks helps. My diet prior to this wasn't bad but wasn't great neither and whilst I wasn't putting on weight i wasn't losing it neither and I have been stuck trying to lose the last 1 1/2 stone for the last year (in the first year I managed to lose just over 4 stone although a good few of those disappeared in the months following dc2's birth and the rest i had to work at!).

I have a friends birthday at the start of August and mines is at the end so hopefully will have lost the weight by at least my birthday!

Stellarforstar · 08/07/2012 20:00

titty it's taken me 4 years to lose my baby weight!

I'm now pre pregnancy and would like to be back to 9 1/2 stone, because if you can dream it; you can do it!

However, I am quite sure I will not be marrying Johnny Depp or Damien Lewis so I'm not sure how that works!

omletta · 09/07/2012 07:06

2lb off! Hooray!

lefthandedscissors · 09/07/2012 08:40

well done omletta !

blackcatsdancing · 09/07/2012 08:45

omletta :) 2 pounds is great, well done you.

popsypie · 09/07/2012 12:06

Well done omletta! I have gained two pounds - sob! Wink

friendly7 · 09/07/2012 12:33

popsypie, don't worry, I weight can go up and down, sometimes without any reason. Try to stick to your plan or see what you can add to it to make it more possible to loose weight (I know it's easier to advice). I too can easily gain and I used to easily loose, not any more, it's constant work and not always successful. But I remain hopeful.
Good luck to us all!
Well done omletta :)

omletta · 09/07/2012 13:08

Oh popsypie poor you. Where are you in your menstral cycle? That is normaly worth a couple of pounds.

popsypie · 09/07/2012 18:33

I'm nearing end of period - but to be honest, usually feel heavier just before. Am trying to resist the urge to think ah screw it and stuff my face tonight!!! I was so strict about giving all the cake away too! Maybe the haribo nibbling caused it!!!

Anyway, onwards and upwards! Will walk briskly to get dd1 from brownies tonight and try and stay motivated! This thread is really keeping me going! Thanks Wink
