If you've poked your head around the door of this thread then please read ourOld Thread, read all the posts, all the links and the links within links and then jump in with both feet to a new, better Way Of Eating (WOE)

Roll Up, Roll Up for the all new, amazing thread for those of us who are trying to eat good, healthy, natural foods while counting our calories and eating LOADS!

We had some brilliant successes on the last thread - inches AND pounds lost and lots of people feeling happier, calmer and more focussed on their goals.

Remember that this is NOT a DIET, it is a healthy way of eating. You will NOT lose 5lbs a week - you might even GAIN weight in the first weeks!

Welcome over,

Lovely to see you!

Welcome over! Sound like you are doing pretty amazing so far :)

I have just discovered that montezuma does 100% cocoa giant chocolate buttons. Thay are a bit crazy and something of an aquired taste i think but i can nibble on just one throughout the day and still feel off my face on cocoa.

Bit worried at the moment that dd is starting out on her 3 month growth spurt as she has already fed 5 times today and it is only 8:30! Her growth spurts always mean days of nothing but eating and crying from 5am to 8pm (mostly her but sometimes me as well) which invarible leads to me doing nothing apart from sitting on the sofa eating cake and watching spooks boxsets. Ho hum hopefully i will be able to bundle her into a sling at somepoint this morning and zoom to sainsbury's to buy something to distract me from the biscuit tin for a bit longer :o

TobyLerone · 22/06/2012 10:18

Morning!

I feel like crap today. Really horrible stomachache, which I've had since yesterday. Doesn't bode well for my dirty weekend away, but at least I'm not hungry!

Hi over :) 4.5 stone is amazing! Well done.

ceebeegeebies · 22/06/2012 12:47

Right I am having a bad day - thought I would treat myself to a Subway salad for lunch and accidentally bought a steak and cheese sub instead and then also happened to fall into Greggs next door and bought a chocolate cupcake Blush I have just eaten them both and they were delicious Grin

However, I have got another 4 hours to kill in the office and I am by myself and bored...I have no healthy snacks to eat other than 2 babybels and I know I will have to head towards the chocolate machine later on this afternoon.

I am going to have write today off aren't I?

Toby hope you get better soon Smile

Welcome Over - losing 4.5 stone is an amazing achievement - it must be a great feeling!

OverflowingMum · 22/06/2012 14:34

thanks for the welcomes.
It does feel great to have lost so much. Certainly 4 or 5 months ago I felt so good ..... now though that I can see the weight gradually creeping back on it makes me feel so sad Sad I think I was probably at my lowest weight just before Christmas. It then stayed steady for a month or so...but definitely it hasnt been good over past 4 months. I am judging this on feel... I haven't actually been brave enough to stand on the scales for a while, but Im guessing Im possibly about a stone over my lowest weight.....It is so soul destroying to think of how hard I worked to lose it all in the first place and that is what is motivating me to make sure I DO NOT just pile it all back on!
Fairly good day so far...porridge for brekkie(with fuit and greek yog for extra protein) wrap filled with salmon flakes and salad for lunch. Couple of flax seed cookies for mid morning snack, and small pack of yogurt coated raisins after lunch cause I was feeling fed up and really wanted a huge cake!
Not sure whats for tea....will decide later.
hope everyones doing well todayGrin

quirkychick · 22/06/2012 17:28

Well done losing so much over . Flaxseed cookies sound delicious! Have you tried the fridge porridge yet?

I had apple and cinnamon fridge porridge, salami & goats cheese with olives & salad, I tried the raspberry protein shake after doing weights and we have a waitrose indian takeaway for dinner.

I have already put in the takeaway - omg it's loads of calories! So I have worked out that I'll eat some of the chicken tikka/butter chicken with daal, and some shredded lettuce and onion salad instead of rice/naan. Mfp certainly makes you aware of what you eat. Looking forward to it, though.

MrsMangoBiscuit · 22/06/2012 18:05

Flax seed cookies do sound nice. Do you have a recipe I can steal you could share? :) And well done on the 4.5 stone, I am Shock and Envy! Grin

OverflowingMum · 22/06/2012 19:17

ok... so I about done for today and I have managed a whopping 1900 calories, instead of 1800 Shock and I thought I had done ok today too!!Certainly does make you more aware!!
quirkychick fridgeporridge sounds good...is that shop bought thing or do you have recipe?

my flax seed cookies are still in an experimental phase LOL ( I do a lot of experimental baking!) but are basically a sort of basic oat cookie recipe with added flax seed and a bit of ginger....not quite got the texture totally right yet!

off to go and bake some experimental almond and coconut muffins.Grin

alittlebitshy · 22/06/2012 19:35

Just marking my place so this doesn't fall off the threads I am on.
Those cookies do sound yummy!!

I, personally, am looking forward to some (nice - lindt dark with chilli/caramel and sea salt) chocolate this evening. Make myself wait until the weekend. Grin.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 22/06/2012 21:04

Hi Overflowing 4 stones! Respect! I'm an 1800-er as well. Found it surprisingly difficult at first - mainly because I concentrated a bit too much on the EM bits of Shirl's advice!

If you're bothered about going over, you could do 10 mins of burpees (slow squat thrusts with arm-raises) to even things up 's what I do.

OverflowingMum · 22/06/2012 21:30

ok...have been reading the previous thread with interest and picked up loads of interetsing tips! Have found recipe for refrigerator porridge which looks fab Grin
as a side note, for those that like greek yogurt and are concerned about protein ammounts Total has approx twice as much protein per 100g as any other brand of greek yog I have found. (even the 0% fat one) Tis more pricey though.
experimental almond/coconut/raspberry muffins look good....totally grain free...will try them tomorrow and report back!
Shirley do you find the Chromium helps with cravings?I have started it recently and have noticed a bit of a change.
To whoever mentioned the "beyond chocolate book" can you please specify in more detail as cant seem to find it on amazon.
Now, sadly, (or not) I have realised it is my bday tomorrow(not that I forgot really!), so may not do so well with the actual eating, but am at least gathering lots of info for a fresh start on Monday!Wink

quirkychick · 22/06/2012 21:37

Over the fridge porridge is a recipe linked to further up the thread by Shirl. Lots of delicious flavours: strawberry/vanilla, cherry/almond very yummy. Website is yummy life, lots of delicious stuff on there.

I have just made pineapple coconut oatmeal smoothie. Dp bought a pineapple from aldi (he assures me they are on offerHmm). Will use the rest of the coconut milk for a prawn coconut and lime curry. I can certainly recommend shredded iceberg lettuce as a rice alternative with curry. Was delicious with butter chicken.

Almond and coconut muffins sound delicious too...

OverflowingMum · 22/06/2012 21:38

oh, sorry. found the chocolate book....not on kindle though....boo!

quirkychick · 22/06/2012 21:38

Cross-posted. The magic muffins look great on that site too.

ShirleyKnot · 22/06/2012 21:39

Hi Over!

I have become slightly and weirdly addicted to my supplements. I don't feel quite "right" if I don't take them for a day, but I am aware that this is probably psychological! I think the chromium levels out those sugar highs, definitely! I "pigged out" on dark chocolate this afternoon at work (6 squares rather than 4) and although I didn't feel terrific, I didn't slump and need a five minute shut eye in the loos like I used to.

OverflowingMum · 22/06/2012 21:41

thanks quirky. website does look fab! off to browse some more...

quirkychick · 22/06/2012 21:53

Shirl I have had lots dark choc today, too: Aldi orange and almond- absolutely delicious.

alittlebitshy caramel sea salt/chilli choc sounds good too!

alittlebitshy · 23/06/2012 15:27

I love chilli chocolate especially. And we have only just discovered the caramel and sea salt one. The dc are always begging for our posh chocolate, although ds 9almost 4) likes the chilli one but is not keen on the salty ones - dd (9) will hoover anything up though Grin. like her mother Blush.

I am really struggling today. Am working - one a very occasional saturday as an off shoot to me one evening a week job. had cereal before i left - apricot wheats rather than ready brek/porridge as i have been having lately, so maybe that made me less full Hmm, but i treated myself to a starbucks chai tea latte en route, so that filled me up til lunch time. However since lunch (cous cous with cuc/toms/prawns; 2 apricots) i have been feeling hungry. Had a cheese oatcake - and will have more.. but it is a while til dinner :(

Just had a fondant fancy too - but got that craving for more noww... eek!

quirkychick · 23/06/2012 16:57

Dd1 loves mustard chocolate!i Very spicy.

We had a posh buffet lunch today tried very hard to eat only clean: thai chicken satay, tomato & baby mozzarella on sticks, yum, yum. Gave into a lime and elderflower tart, though. Mmm.

The pineapple and coconut oatmeal smoothie wasn't so good. I think I will try them without the oatmeal.

knitknack · 23/06/2012 17:24

My dh wants to try some protein drinks - can anyone remind me where to get those sample flavours from? Hope everyone's OK :)

quirkychick · 23/06/2012 21:00

Myprotein is the website.

knitknack · 24/06/2012 08:50

Thank you!

quirkychick · 24/06/2012 10:35

We have just had a version of Gwyneth Paltrow's blueberry spelt muffins with wholegrain spelt, ground almonds, frozen berries. Very delicious.

bunjies · 24/06/2012 12:11

Have been a naughty girl and had to try the aldi version of pimms yesterday. Ended up having 3 rather large glasses Blush. T'was v nice though and as near as dammit to pimms. Can't believe it's only £6 a bottle. Oh and aldi pure maple syrup is £3 as opposed to about £5 in other supermarkets.

Made a big bowl of forest fruits fridge porridge last night for the family to have for brekkie this morning. Went down a treat even with dh who doesn't like bircher muesli type stuff. Roast chicken this arvo followed by rhubarb crumble & clotted cream ice cream so will probably be having water for supper!

My dumbells and swiss ball arrived from Amazon so going to start my weight training today. Got the 20kg set and can barely lift the bars let alone with a weight on them . So far the kids have used the ball more than me so it's time to get started. If anyone would like me to send them a PDF copy of The New Rules of Lifting for Women PM me your email address and I'll forward it on.

HearMyRoar · 24/06/2012 18:47

Just discovered that cooking up apple, banana and almond butter makes the most delicious yummyness ever! I made some to use in my fruit and nut bars to replace sugar, honey and butter and ended up eating spoonfuls on it's own Blush

I have somehow ended up under my calorie goal by 400 today and that is including the quark and carrot sticks that I haven't eaten yet. This has never happened to me before. I am in shock. Better have a hot chocolate to bring me round :o

Hope everyone has had a good weekend. Little roar has finally settled down for some sleep and my trousers are feeling distinctly loose so I am currently in a super mood. This may change once dp goes out to watch the football and little roar wakes up and unleashes her full evening melt down upon the house. Ho hum, enjoy it while it lasts I say!
