If you've poked your head around the door of this thread then please read ourOld Thread, read all the posts, all the links and the links within links and then jump in with both feet to a new, better Way Of Eating (WOE)

Roll Up, Roll Up for the all new, amazing thread for those of us who are trying to eat good, healthy, natural foods while counting our calories and eating LOADS!

We had some brilliant successes on the last thread - inches AND pounds lost and lots of people feeling happier, calmer and more focussed on their goals.

Remember that this is NOT a DIET, it is a healthy way of eating. You will NOT lose 5lbs a week - you might even GAIN weight in the first weeks!

bunjies aldi pimm's scans as pimm's proper on mfp not "austin's"! Love aldi's- yy to maple syrup, frozen fish, deli stuff, dark choc...

Let us know what your weights are like.

roar I can't do cooked banana but apple and almond butter sounds really yummy. Cashew butter is heaven, dp has eaten half the jar and bought 2 more. I think it's gonna be a staple in our house now.

MinnieBar · 24/06/2012 21:39

Hello all... I ate something else new today!....................

.... a chickpea.

Pretty bland and pointless really and curiously nothing like houmous, in so far as I could tell. Confused Grin

SE I have eased myself back into cleaner eating by switching unhealthy sugary things for healthier sweet things like granola, cookies made with honey etc. They hit the sugar craving without being so appealing that I eat 57 of them, and no other nasties to crave on top of the sugar, and I've gradually managed to cut down on the 'healthy' sweet things. Not as quick or efficient as cold turkey, but I have never successfully gone cold turkey on sugar in my life Grin

Have finally lost a pound, which gets me back down to more or less my pre-holiday weight of a month ago, so I'm a happy girl.

CJCregg · 25/06/2012 09:32

Hello everyone Grin

I'm checking in again because I need a kick up the arse. I feel hugely fat, and I know I'm not doing this right.

I haven't had sugar for three weeks. I have much more energy, but I'm still eating too many carbs, I think. I tell myself that because they're brown/wholemeal/'healthy' I can have loads of them Hmm. I think I might be overdoing the fat eg full fat yoghurt as well.

I know what I should be doing. I should be entering everything religiously into MFP and replacing carbs with protein.

I need my arse kicked.

I thank you.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 25/06/2012 09:57

If you could return the favour I'd be grateful!

AF has returned for the first time since having DS2 and I'm all over the place. The weekend has been a disaster, faaaar too much sugar and crap and I feel heavy and bloated this morning.

Doing better so far - blueberry, walnut and honey fridge porridge this morning and I feel really full.

I am so cross, because I was doing really well and it was working, and I have sabotaged massively AngrySad

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 25/06/2012 10:05

I don't think your arse needs kicking Smile. Just looked at your diary what there is of it, and (I'm not the expert, obv), but it strikes me your breakfasts are a bit light. If you're sensitive to sugar you really need a decent dollop of protein in the morning, otherwise you'll have a very early slump and be chasing to get your energy all day.

I don't think full fat yoghurt is a problem, although, for me, I can't rely on it as the protein mainstay in a meal as it just doesn't fill me up. I just use it as a 'dessert' with fruit after a meal occasionally, or in fruit porridge with loads of nuts added.

I'm not a fan of low-carbing; I don't see what's wrong with healthy carbs alongside the protein, and I think I've mentioned my gallbladder gives me gyp whenever i try it. It leaves less cals for snacks, but tbh, you don't really feel the need for many snacks when your meals are properly balanced.

I do find entering my amounts really helpful, though, and I think that's the One Thing you need to start doing as it makes you consistent in your calorie intake, which I think is key to this WOE working.

< steps aside for someone with a big boot >

CJCregg · 25/06/2012 10:22

Thanks. Blush about the diary. I just get very CBA about filling it in. And yes, that's the problem.

I just feel so fucking fat today. It's so depressing after cutting out all those cakes and chocolate, dammit, you'd think that alone would have made some difference.

Oh well. Salmon and broccoli again tonight then Grin

CJCregg · 25/06/2012 10:25

Alibaba, it's Monday. Always known in my house as 'Start Again Day'. Put the weekend behind you and join me on the naughty bench I may have had some kettle chips.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 25/06/2012 10:32

Alibab, was it you who mentioned the twisty board thing for trimming the waist? Could you tell me which one you have - been looking and it's hard to tell which is the best.

I've realised the spare tyre/love handles are the main things stopping me from wearing half the clothes in my wardrobe the other half is down to the fat arse.

TobyLerone · 25/06/2012 10:38

Morning all.

I haven't updated MFP at all this weekend, because I couldn't be arsed was away, in a place with very limited internet access. I know I haven't gone over my limit if anything I was quite a bit under due to feeling like crap and having limited appetite but it still feels wrong not having filled in my diary.

I don't think today will be a great day -- I'm still feeling very delicate in the stomach. I'm almost certain that I have an ulcer. So today will be gentle comfort-carbs, I think. Hopefully I'll be back to normal tomorrow.

ShirleyKnot · 25/06/2012 10:39

It will make a difference CJ, you just need to be patient. I expect you're carrying water so make sure you drink plenty today to flush it out.

My friend came to see me yesterday, she's a FI and sports masseur. Anyway, my thumb has been hurting me for about a month - I thought I'd pulled a muscle during body pump (my wrists can be a little slack on the triceps and that's FATAL for pulling stuff) but she thinks I might have dislocated it! SHe did offer to pop it back in but I was too afeard! I'm going to the doctors tonight, but I am telling you something, if I have been wandering around with a doslocated joint for a month I am going to change my name to SuperHardNutShirley. Shock Grin

ShirleyKnot · 25/06/2012 10:44

Argh Tobes - have you been to the docs? Ulcers are SOOOO easy to treat now, 10 x days of antibiotics and you're cured. Amazing.

OP posts:
TobyLerone · 25/06/2012 10:58

I've been to the docs several times and they've given me acid inhibitor wossnames because the diagnosis is gastritis. They say I'm not exhibiting any symptoms of an actual ulcer. However, whilst lying in bed on Saturday night, on our anniversary, while I cried in pain, we googled (I know!) and it would seem that the pain was more indicative of an ulcer than anything else. So I shall have to go back. I'm off work on Fri. I'll go then.

DP was quite concerned. I have squeezed an entire human out of my lady parts without even a paracetamol, so I am pretty nails where pain is concerned. But this pain had me actually in tears. Bastard!

Ooooh, a dislocated thumb? You will have to take my NailsCrown if that is the case!

ceebeegeebies · 25/06/2012 13:31

Shirley that would be a dislocated thumb with a fabulous-looking nail then Wink

I too have had a bad weekend - too much alcohol, cake and chocolate.

I am still waiting to see a difference - I had thought the fact that my clothes weren't any looser was due to an imminent AF but that has been and gone now and there is still no difference Sad

Someone come and remind me that I need to be patient and this is a long-game!!

ShirleyKnot · 25/06/2012 15:55

This is the long game - BE PATIENT!

CJCregg · 25/06/2012 16:05

Thanks, Shirl - I had forgotten about the water drinking Blush [stupidtwat]

quirkychick · 25/06/2012 16:44

I too have succumbed to puddings at the weekend: we had lunch with a lovely buffet on saturday with delicious tart, felt the need to help out with eating cream scones on sunday..Blush But, I haven't put any weight on as I've been trying to balance it out.

Myprotein has a buy one get one half price offer. Might just be on the bigger packs. The code is ISOWHEY. I have just ordered vanilla and unflavoured.

LurkingAndLearningForNow · 25/06/2012 16:47

I understood none of the acronyms in the title, but read the first post and want to tentatively post.

I am quite slim (skinny fat, if you will) and I have a reaaaaally bad habit of midnight snacking as I have insomnia. It's almost 2AM here and I just ate the better part of a bag of chips. :(

So my goal is to STOP night snacking while insomnia-busting! I eat very well (usually) otherwise and drink almost nothing but water.

Maryz that's great! Well done.

I start month 2 of Insanity tonight, protein shakes at the ready! Grin

quirkychick · 25/06/2012 17:14

Fantastic Maryz!

Welcome LurkingandLearning. Basically eat more to lose weight ie don't put yourself in starvation and yoyo diet. Stay away from the bastard scales and way of eating. hth

LurkingAndLearningForNow · 25/06/2012 17:22

Ugh yeah the scales. I avoid them like the plague! I am very small boned and very small yet I weigh so heavy. No idea why. My GP actually almost said 'wtf' when she weighed me after some blood tests a month or so ago.

Does anyone else have this problem? I started going nuts thinking I must look so much bigger in my minds eye, but mum and DP were shocked when I stated my weight.

I HATE THE SCALES!!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 25/06/2012 20:42

Lurking - you sound healthy if you are small but heavy, lots of muscle! There is nothing wrong with being heavy in itself, inches matter more than lbs IMO.

I have Shredded, woohoo! First time in months. I also did Level 2 for the first time so feeling quite proud of myself.
