I'm starting this thread early as I'm off to Athens tomorrow, and will be leaving at sparrows fart. (It's mainly for work, although I have a day off on Thursday)

I think we're now a band of mainly hardcore low carbers, although we continue to attract new followers - welcome to you all!

Hopefully, the longer termers will be finding it much easier to follow this WOE and food choices are more automatic. Although I have noticed lots of references to cheesecake and crumble which just will not do if you're wanting the pounds to shift

Let me know how you're all doing - and any tips to share for those for whom the weight loss has slowed down.

catinboots - weigh-in day is Monday, and we have a fabulous spreadsheet where you can enter your details.

slowly - I bought these They have plastic feet to stick on the bottom so that you can use them on carpet.

I'm going to wait until Monday to weigh in too. I don't have scales so will have to dust off use the wii fit.

I can't believe after only three days the difference in my stomach and the fact that i am not looking or feeling bloated. I am such a massive carb eater normally i'm shocked at the difference....i have been very strict.

HumphreyCobbler · 15/06/2012 15:37

yes, I have been in bootcamp! I have found all the rules etc very helpful, as well as the inspiration you have offered. Thanks everyone.

I know from past experience that I am likely to get down to nine stone and then fall off the wagon - I seem to put on and lose the same half a stone all the time. Really I would like to be 8 and a half, that would be about right for my height. I am going to try really hard to maintain this time. I should NOT ever eat bread or refined sugar, I am such an addict.

NigellasGuest · 15/06/2012 16:56

I know Humphrey, once you start you can't stop, I'm exactly the same.
What I am finding amazing about this WOE is that for example, today I spent the afternoon gardening and didn't once think oh I need a break for a biscuit/cake/whatever. I only had scrambled egg for lunch - I'm not even sure that's enough really - and I'm still feeling full.

Heartstart · 15/06/2012 18:34

Hi all thanks for responses to moaning query a couple of days ago. My mum has been admitted to hospital and have had to sort out my dad who has dementia and parkinson and had a bab bad bad few days at work despite all that have k loads f water and lo curbed like a good in and had no desire to comfort eat ...

Heartstart · 15/06/2012 18:46

Sorry about appalling typing are v tired should say drunk loads of water and low carbed

BettySuarez · 15/06/2012 18:58

Evening all Smile

Just checking in before the England game. Hope that everyone is doing well today.

Physically, I feel much better then I did on day 1 and 2

B. 3 rashers bacon
L. Slices of ham and slices Emmental cheese
D steak and salad with avocado and few olives

Really pleased about the tip re pork scratchings as they have been a lifesaver over past few days on long car journeys when I get an urge to nom!

Managed to avoid lots of temptations today, everyone seemed to want to offer me cake Grin but I wasn't in the least bit tempted!

I did pop into Waitrose and found a small tub of fresh crayfish tails with a Mayo, lemon and dill dressing. Can't remember exact number of carbs but it was approx 5g for a tub a but larger then a tub of hummus and bloody delicious!

teaandthorazine · 15/06/2012 19:04

Pork scratchings for lunch today Blush. Oh well, zero carbs if not exactly unprocessed Grin.

Now awaiting arrival of of pizza for ds and friend who are watching the footy tonight. I've succumbed to takeaway with them but have ordered veggie involtini (aubergine, ricotta, tomato, covered in cheese sauce and baked) instead of my usual double pepperoni!

heartstart - sorry to hear things are tough atm. Am full of admiration for your refusal to take refuge in cake, though!

teaandthorazine · 15/06/2012 19:08

Oh and here's a weird thing; there are half-drunk bottles of wine in my kitchen! Usually they barely hit the sides, let alone have a chance to turn to vinegar like these ones have... (Terrible waste though, I might have to make up a massive batch of bolognaise sauce or something!)

Thegoddessblossom · 15/06/2012 19:28

Heartstart love to you. Feel your pain.

Shredded wheat with skimmed milk for brekkie (Harcombe here)
Cheese, salad leaves, tuna, coleslaw, roasted vegetables for lunch
pork scratchings, 2 glasses of red in (it is friday) Man I heart pork scratchings.

Was at goal weight this morning, hurrah.

Watched DSs polish off onion rings, baked potato with two fillings and knicker bocker glories for tea at the pub tonight, jeepers my kids can eat.

jan2011 · 15/06/2012 19:57

hartstart sorry things r difficult for you

i been keeping low carb feel more content on this WOE

only thing is im up loads at night doing feeds and was really hungry at 3am, couldn't sleep. got some yoghurt and cheese. don't know why i was hungry - could be overtiredness too.

NigellasGuest · 15/06/2012 20:00

Headstart hope you're ok. My DH has PD. Well done with that cake!

I bought waitrose "extra thick" double cream today as has exactly the same amount of carbs as their normal double cream. Then I spied double goats cream, which again had the same carb amount. I have a vague notion that anything from goats is better than anything from cows (dairy wise that is - I wouldn't fancy goat-meat Shock) but I've no idea where i got that from. Haven't tried the goats cream yet - have a feeling it will taste sour but will try later!

vnmum · 15/06/2012 20:09

well done goddess for getting to goal.
heartstart hope things get easier for you

I seem to be struggling to get enough fat in my diet at the moment, don't know why. I did try cocunut oil off the spoon ala tea but it was not for me Grin.

I had some jamie oliver burgers (reduced so bought 4 packs Grin) 0g carbs, I decided to grill them as thought it would be easier and I was actually concerned at the amount of fat that was coming out of them. Not in a "gosh they are so fatty" way but in a "oh no, what a waste of good fat" way Grin. Never thought I would be thinking like that

smokinaces · 15/06/2012 22:20

BettySuarez You are way under veg wise with your day. Your protein looks good (though keep in mind ham and bacon are both processed) but BIWI will kick your backside for the lack of veg. You need some with every meal - some buttered mushrooms with your bacon, salad leaves and cucumber with your cheese. This isnt atkins style, you need some carbs every day from vegetables.

Heartstart · 15/06/2012 22:50

Thanks for all your lovely messages

studyingstudying · 15/06/2012 23:04

Hello everyone,

I am still struggling - having a terrible (very stressful) time at uni until the end of term comes at end of June, and it is resulting in me scoffing chocolate every day for the past 3! Not in the plan!

I am wondering if something in my lunch is making me crave sugar - today I had tuna, lettuce, pepper, some baby tomatoes, olives and balsamic vinegar as dressing. What do you all think? Are olives ok on this WOE?

Anyway, I am going to keep trying, but not stress too much until the end of term when I should have more time (currently in uni from 7am til 10/11pm which isn't useful for grocery shopping or cooking).

Nigella, I'd be interested to know what goat's cream is like! I only like mild goats cheese so I'm not sure I'd be adventurous enough for that.
Heartstart, I am so impressed at your commitment and dedication to this! You're doing so much better under pressure than I am. Hope things get easier for you.

cartimandua · 16/06/2012 00:32

May I add a little encouragement? Am in my mid-sixties and have struggled with my weight for years. To add insult to injury I gained even more when I stopped smoking a couple of years ago. Having read all the threads I remembered that when I was young the advice was always to cut out starchy foods (and nobody had invented low-fat stuff in those days). So I cut out bread and all other wheat-based things, chucked out the low-fat products and bought butter and proper Hellmans, no potatoes or rice or pasta or processed foods - and have lost half a stone in two weeks!

Have had lots of eggs, some cheese, nuts, avocadoes, full-fat Greek yogurt, chicken, fish and veggies. Have taken no exercise apart from the usual walk to the shops and pottering about at home. My ankles aren't swollen any more and I feel fine and not hungry. So thank you - I've also read Briffa and Taubes and guess I'm Briffa-ing rather than Bootcamping, but if this keeps up I shall be a very happy bunny.

BettySuarez · 16/06/2012 07:52

smokinaces you are right - looking at that list it doesn't look like enough veg - I promise to try harder Grin although the plate of salad I had yesterday really was huge!

It was a bit tricky yesterday as I was a guest in someone else's house for brekkie then had lunch on the road but I need to make sure I plan ahead next time Wink

BettySuarez · 16/06/2012 07:54

cartimandua thankyou for your words of encouragement and well bloody done on your weightloss.

I hope you stick around on the thread and join us Smile

FiddleDeFat · 16/06/2012 08:32

studying ditch the balsamic vinegar. If you read the label I'm sure you'll find it high in carbs. Most dressings, except this one, are fine.

MsRinky · 16/06/2012 08:32

Olives are fine, but balsamic vinegar is full of sugar, it will be that which is kicking off your sugar craving. Dress you salad with oil and proper vinegar.

I have a very boozy birthday party to go to tonight. Will try and stick to vodka and soda and not get drunk enough to fall face first into pizza. Wish me luck.

sybilfaulty · 16/06/2012 08:36

Betty I find on this WOE that I need to think about veg as I am full on meat and cheese! I do love avocadoes, but I suffer badly with constipation (sorry TMI) and need to keep scoffing the veg, or else it all goes horribly wrong. I have probably eaten more tomatoes than is good for me as they are guaranteed to keep things going, but I will review the list over the weekend to see what I could have instead.

Studying, it is so hard to keep on the stright and narrow when you are revising. I fondly remember scoffing boxes of chocs when I did my finals many years ago. I'm no expert but I think balsamic is forbidden as it's very sugary. Can have french or something though. Acc Neris and India, olives are ok but I appreciate that BIWI is our leader rather than them, so I'd wait for official thumbs up rather than relying on me.

Had a small gin last night after my week off and it was plenty! Wow! I am normally quiet a thirsty Kirsty on the old booze so I am surprised. Mind you I was on the sofa watching crap TV when DH was at the pub watching the football.

Had yummy scrambled eggs and mushrooms for breakfast. I cannot believe this is diet food. Gorgeous. I am going to see when I am actually hungry now and see if I can get to lunch without needing a snack. BIWI, you are right in that snacking is a habit and great if you need it but easy just to trough when you don't.

Thanks for all the support and encouragement. Back later I hope. Have a great day everyone.

sybilfaulty · 16/06/2012 08:37

X post there. Morning girls!

jan2011 · 16/06/2012 09:08

cart that is great encouragement thankyou!

studying sorry you are so stressed at the minute - its very hard in any case when under a lot of stress. ive been having a rough time the past couple of weeks and i coped with the tendency to eat by having some nuts, dark chocolate, and babybel snacks on hand - i know its not perfect but at least its not going for the full sugary treats, and i feel ok about it all. i need a lot of energy at the minute! good luck with your finals

cartimandua · 16/06/2012 10:15

Being retired and living alone, I have a relatively stress-free existence, but it hasn't always been like this and I know the comfort eating thing all too well. I do hope that those of you who are struggling with stress feel better soon.

I CBA to cook much and had been relying a lot on ready meals, though carefully checking the calorie and fat content. The other day looked at the label of one of my favourites and was horrified at the amount of sugar in it. I bet there is a correlation between weight gain across the population and the arrival of heavily processed foods sometime during the last fifty years or so.
