I'm 5'6'' and when I was 9 stone I was slim. When I was 9 and a half stone I was still happy with my weight. I then went to 10 stone and didn't like that very much but found it hard to shift. I suspect I'm teetering over 10 stone at the moment.

c4rnsi1lke · 05/08/2012 18:03

mine also goes around my stomach

bogeyface · 05/08/2012 18:46

I dread to think how heavy I am! but I have found that I am heavy anyway. When I was a size 10 I weighed 11 stone and I am 5' 6", my mother didnt believe me until i weighed myself in front of her :o

I am a 16 atm and want to be a 12, size 10 doesnt suit me I just look skinny and old instead of slinky!

Just done the shred for the first time and it wasnt actually as bad as I expected, it was the cardio I found hard but I have always struggled with that, the strength and abs was good.

TheInvisiblePoster · 05/08/2012 19:04

It's the cardio that I struggle with bogeyface. The first half of the workout when she keeps going from jumping jacks to skipping is a killer! I actually enjoy the strength and abs.

I can't help but wonder if the 2 girls helping out in the DVD got abs like that purely from doing Jillians workouts

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 05/08/2012 20:10

Just checking in to confess that I've been so lazy distracted by the Olympics that instead of Shredding when I get home from work, I've put the TV on, sat down with my evening meal and watched the Olympics. I haven't Shredded since last Monday, so almost a week Blush. When I eventually get off the sofa get back into it, it'll be like starting again!

bogeyface · 05/08/2012 20:55

Yep, the jumping jacks/skipping did for me too! 5 seconds rest? I dont fucking think so :o

TheInvisiblePoster · 05/08/2012 21:10

I've just completed day 6 L1 of 30DS and it's definitely getting easier, still can't do a proper push up (Think my technique is all wrong), so i'm doing the modified version.

Just want to know if this will work on my belly flab! I'll be so disappointed if I get to day 30 and it still wobbles.

Think I'm going to take some photos of my belly now and then do them again at the end to see if there's a difference.

bogeyface · 05/08/2012 21:14

I couldnt do full pushups even when I did athletics Invisible and ran for my county, I have never had great upper body strength but my legs are really strong so squats etc are no problem. My sister is the other way around.

Good to hear it is getting easier, thats the light at the end of the tunnel I need. I was tempted to watch the L2 and 3 workouts out of curiousity but decided not to on the basis that it might put me off :o

I dont mind the wobble so much as the permenant 5 months pg look!

c4rnsi1lke · 05/08/2012 21:17

I did banish fat today. I am very red in the face after that one! Aiming to do no more trouble zones tomorrow. I do get bored quickly with DVD's though.
I'm not really drinking much alcohol at the moment (usually drink more) so am hoping I'll lose weight.

gingercat12 · 05/08/2012 21:27

Just finished the Shred. Again. Tomorrow it is time to start RI30 again. It seems odd that I am not disheartened.
DH gave me my birthday present early, and it is BFBM. He must have checked it out, because he said "You do not have to do all 40 mins of cardio every day." Bless. I hate cardio with a passion, but weight is just dropping off me when I do it.
Threesteps Glad your back is better. I always had problems with my back in the past, so am extra vigilant about that.
notyummy Must have been great in the Olympic Park. We were in St James's Park in Newcastle. Went wearing yellow to join in the Brazilian carnival only to start supporting Honduras and shout at the top of my lungs Confused. Started a bust-up in the cafe as well.
Me: Have you got no drinks for children?
Staff: Coke, Fanta or Sprite?
Me: For a small child? Fizzy?
Her: What is wrong with that?
I would love to boycott Olympic sponsors, but we are too attached McDonalds. I just love their grilled chicken salad (100 Kcal) and coffee.
Fluffy I am not very athletic and use 2kgs weights. Should probably go up to 3kgs, but I am always dead by the end of the exercises.
bogeyface I also started from size 16, now 14 and hope to reach size 12. I bought my lovely swimsuit in size 12 for next year. [looking wistful]
TheInvisblePoster I am quite big, so I still have belly fat even after 6 months. Although I am really quite slim compared to my December state. I think the two girls in the Shred are dancers. Jillian says that somewhere I think along the lines of "You do it 5-6 hours every day."

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 05/08/2012 21:30

We've been away for the weekend, but I did L3 Shred on Saturday morning before we left.

Day off today, and then back to it tomorrow.

I'm also 5'2", and currently weigh 12st 12lbs - I've lost almost 3 stone. Shred isn't making me lose weight, but I am so much stronger and fitter, my thighs and arms are slimmer and my bum is perkier.

bogeyface · 05/08/2012 23:31

ginger my DS (aged 6) hates anything fizzy so aside from the health aspect, I would have expected more than that!

Had a rather amusing text exchange with my sister, who leant me the DVD.

Me: Just shredded for the first time. The only reason I know I am not dead is because death doesnt hurt this much! xxx

DSis: Ha Ha! Now you know why I gave it up.....and am a size X..err... xxx

DSis:Can I have it back please? :o

bogeyface · 05/08/2012 23:32

Weight is a bit of a red herring. As we all know, muscle weighs more but is denser so takes up less space. I know that when I am slim I am heavy because I am more toned, so I am working on whether my "skinny me" clothes fit or not.

ihatethecold · 06/08/2012 08:24

So true bogey. I'm not losing weight at all. Which has been a bit disheartening but I'm back in my skinny jeans and have lost the muffin Grin

TheInvisiblePoster · 06/08/2012 09:59

Bogey You ran for your country!! Wow impressive. I feel better knowing that even atheletes struggle with full push upsGrin

I've had a quick look at level 2 and you have to do walking push ups so that will be fun...Not. I'm thinking of buying a skipping rope to that I can do some extra cardio.

I'll be shredding again later when I can find something to entertain the DC for half an hour, they want to do crafting apparently! half an hours crafting = 2hrs of tidying for me plus weeks of finding glitter on everything so I might try to put them offGrin

TheInvisiblePoster · 06/08/2012 10:59

Just re read Bogey you ran for your county not countryBlush

Still bloody impressive. I don't run unless I want to give everyone a good laughGrin

bogeyface · 06/08/2012 12:22

I used to run for my county, now I cant run for a bus :o

It was twenty years ago and I was uber fit. But no, couldnt do push ups for some reason! Was rubbish at shot, discus, etc too!

Lizzylou · 06/08/2012 16:54

Thank all that is holy that I am not the only one who can't do press ups. Did week 3 ripped again this pm, only getting a tad easier. Well, not at all to be honest. I find some of the moves so hard. Must persevere, holiday in 2 weeks Eek.

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 06/08/2012 18:18

Well as I haven't shredded for a week I started again with L1 this morning. I found it pretty easy tbh, so have definitely got fitter.

I agree with the weight thing too. I'm actually a pound or two heavier than before I started 30DS but my clothes are much looser. I need a belt on all my jeans and could do with a serious shopping session as all my basic items are too big. I'm clearly toning up which is what I was after Smile.

3monkeys · 06/08/2012 18:54

I feel much fitter when doing shred, but don't think I'm much thinner :( My arms are maybe a little bit more toned. Desperate to get rid of my belly - on day 27, alternating between either level 2 or 3. Am able to complete more of it now but still knackered!

xelliex · 06/08/2012 21:31

Had a day off yesterday but did level 2 shred today - on day 13. I must be weird as I prefer L2 to L1 even though it's harder. Feel like I'm getting a bit fitter!

fruitscone · 07/08/2012 07:20

Hi I am a Shred relative newbie.

I loved level 1 and felt great doing it. I moved up to level 2 about 2 weeks ago and have been doing about five days then having a couple of days off. I hated Level 2 at first (doesn't everyone?!) and really struggled with the plank based things. But I have really got into it. Still don't enjoy it as much as level 1 but I can feel me getting stronger.

However today I had to give up mid routine because my upper arms are so sore. It is the front of my upper arms, just a bit below the shoulders and it doesn't feel muscular as in virtuous achey, but really really sore. I found the plank things were just impossible today and I am worried I have done myself a mischief. It started last Friday and I had Sat and Sun off, then did the routine yesterday, had some aches again but nothing like today.

Does anyone have any idea what I have done / am doing wrong?? And will I manage level 3? I am about to go on holiday for two weeks so will have a good break from shred during that time (but will try to do some abs work and swim). I really don't want this to be the end of me and Jillian but at the same time I don't want to bugger up my shoulders.

Any advice?

notyummy · 07/08/2012 09:17

Fruit - I would say L3 has slightly less stuff than L2 in plank position....although having said that, the first circuit actually has quite a lot in both strength and cardio (mountain climbers...) Hmm. Perhaps you could try it and modify the cardio and do standing mountain climbers? L3 has less stuff using weights and more using your own body weight, so if it is the weights that are causing you problems than it may help. That said, it is still pretty demanding on the upper body and core. I am not quite sure what to recommend tbh. I have had heard of a fair few people getting knee niggles, but not so much shoulder. I do get sore shoulders on the very top when I am pushing the weights, but I am fairly sure it is muscular.

Very busy here socially at the moment with trips to London/Olympics and camping weekend. Managed Insanity on Thursday, did LOADS of walking at the Olympics on Friday and did NMTZ for the first time in a couple of weeks on Saturday. I ached a LOT on Sunday and yesterday. Forced myself out for a run from the campsite in the sunshine on Sunday despite my aches. Glad I did as I really enjoyed it - combination of weather and views meant that i had done 10k and not even realised it. Was pretty wiped out yesterday from a busy few days and needing to take tent down and get everything home with DD on my own (DH having run away home early with various excuses Hmm.) So nothing done yesterday. Insanity fit test today to see if I have made progress....

cornybootseeker · 07/08/2012 11:31

fruit - the banish fat, boost metabolism workout doesn't use any weights at all. It's 40 mins instead of 20 mins though. I prefer it to shred.

threestepsforward · 07/08/2012 12:04

corny, Grin at idea of sockpuppeting on a JM thread!

Fruit hope your shoulders get better, notyummy's idea of standing mountain climbers is a great idea (and harder I think!) or BFBM as corny said. To be honest, L3 Shred is quite 'plank heavy' so you might want to steer clear until you feel better?

Hope everyone is doing well, are we all on an Olympic high? Smile Weymouth on Sunday was fab - was great to be there to see Ben A win the gold (and Andy Murray do the same on the big screen!).

Have been turbo'ing, still loving it! Did my 55 DVD yesterday and will be doing my 20 HIIT in a mo.

CHST, thank you for persuading me to buy Smile. Hope today goes okay x Are you going on holiday afterwards? Have a fab time if you are...
