Hi all

Managing to keep things moving on my holidays, started ripped week one - a bit pathetic as I have to do it without weights, we have now moved location and the room is too compact to shred or rip but they have a brilliant gym attached so I have been running and swimming - forgot how awful running is on a treadmill - would much rather be outside but the gym is a good temporary solution. Am becoming a tad obsessed with this exercising malarky.

threestepsforward · 01/08/2012 20:56

Evening all!

Greedy and Spring I'm really impressed with you guys exercising when away on holiday...

Well done Lizzy! L3 is the hardest level in Ripped I think and she really shouts Grin

Ran out of time today so did a shorter 30 min turobfire workout with a 10 min stretch afterwards. Still enjoying it, so much, even though I get lots of the moves wrong still, I still keep moving - shedding the dinner plates has made all the difference!

Does anyone have the Zagorra hotpants? My friend gave me hers at the weekend (unworn I might add!) and phew! I looked on the website and I think they are the old version, but my god did I sweat!!! I'm not sure how much was down to the workout and how much down to the shorts. I think I'd dissolve if I did a longer workout in them Grin

I have found after 4 session of shred that I can hardly walk Sad
Its my calves that are really painful, I can just about walk on tiptoe. After walking a while, the pain eases but when I first stand up its unbearable. Is that normal or am I doing something wrong? It has really put me off from doing it.

kimberlina · 01/08/2012 23:06

I've been shredding for a couple of months now and am thrilled with the results so far. I'm really starting to see my stomach muscles emerge. Am also running 5 miles 3-4 times per week, but have done this for 10years so really think it's shred that has made the difference.

Just wondered whether the other JM DVD's are tougher/more effective or just different?

Should I be mixing it up?

ihatethecold · 02/08/2012 08:20

Kid

You need to spend much longer stretching your calves when you finish.
The cool
Down on the DVD is far too short.

I think that ripped in 30 is better than 30 DS Grin
I got quite bored of 30ds!

Lizzylou · 02/08/2012 09:30

I am aching all over today after week 3 ripped.
Threesteps, thankyou and yes, she shouts like a madwoman. V annoying.
BUT I did it and tonight's workout should be easier (I am hoping!)

kid · 02/08/2012 09:37

thanks Ihatethecold, I am just so happy to reach the cool down part that I don't really worry about how long it lasts for. I am feeling much better today, thats 2 days without doing the shred.
I'm waiting for a parcel to be delivered so I'll give it another go after that and do extra stretching after the cool down.

xelliex · 02/08/2012 12:05

I did L1 and 2 shred last night substituting the jumping jacks for some of Jillian's other cardio moves. It seemed to hurt my knees less although still sore today. My 5 yr old dd wasn't impressed, kept telling me off for cheating!!

bogeyface · 02/08/2012 12:59

New to the Shred. Need to slim down and tone up ASAP!

Does it actually work? I dont mind using it to get fit but does it actually work for weightloss? I havent put any weight on since I had the baby, but havent lost any either so I am not too fussed about dieting, which I am not good at anyway!

I am working on the logic that upping my exercise from its current level of.....well......nothing if I am honest, will do the trick!

gingercat12 · 02/08/2012 13:17

Hello bogeyface! The Shred helped some people lose weight, but not all of us. I read Dr Dillner in The Guardian this week and she said that according to studies you do need to diet as well to actually lose weight. We are all different though.

I missed my yesterday's session and had a lot of cake Grin My colleagues organised a suprise afternoon tea at a posh hotel for me. It is my birthdaysoon. Even my DH was in on the act looking after DS. I could not refuse all those lovely cakes, surely. And they were miniscule. You really needed a microscope to see them.

threestepsforward · 02/08/2012 14:01

Sounds lovely gingercat Smile

Bogey I think, you may not lose weight as such, but if you Shred even without dieting, your body will change shape after the 30 days (provided your diet is not too awful!). When I first did the Shred, the change to my body was really quite impressive, and that was without dieting but generally eating quite well. If you measure yourself with a tape measure before you start, you'll be able to see how much you lose in terms of inches. It took about 20 days for me to start seeing proper changes, but it was well worth the effort and the wait!

Go on, you know you want to!

More turbofire for me this afternoon. I must remember to pull the blind down in my sitting room. If next door could see me, they would grab chairs, some popcorn and laugh themselves silly!

Have a good day all Smile

Thanks for the info.

I am not the only one that exercises with the curtains closed then? Wink :o

gingercat12 · 02/08/2012 16:42

bogeyface Definitely not. Our street is not ready to see me in my exercise bra and shorts yet. (And I am getting really pleased with all the weightloss...)

threestepsforward · 02/08/2012 17:14

I second that!

There's a dance element to turbofire and I am no natural dancer, and although I'm now loving it, I would be horrified if anyone saw me, and so would they Grin

How's everyone doing?

Just done my 55 DVD, sent back a job and the sun is now shining Smile

Have a good evening all

well done on the weight loss ginger, brilliant stuff!

TheInvisiblePoster · 02/08/2012 20:13

I've not read the whole thread so sorry if anyone has already ask this!

I'm using MFP to count calories and log exercise has anyone got any idea how many calories you burn doing level 1 of 30DSConfused

notyummy · 02/08/2012 20:43

Calorie burn depends on your weight. My 9.5 stone friend burned 187 cals doing L1 Shred for example.

CHST · 02/08/2012 20:48

add me to the list of people who draw curtains!
I was going to do turbofire today (workout 60) but just didn't feel it today and switched for body revolution workout 10 which is my favourite workout of all time. Lots of moves to really get agression out which is what I need right now!
After debating what to take on holdiay for exercise (we are going to Italy) I didnt want to take loads of stuff, so I have looked at the exercises from Zuzana light on you tube and have taken 14 of her workouts and written down the moves and instructions. Some are as many reps as possible in 10 minutes so 4 exercises of say 10 reps and going through the circuit as many times as possible or there are different exercises of different reps and you do the circuit up to 5 times and do as fast as you can. Ive specificially picked ones that use body weight as opposed to dumbells. These workouts shouldnt be too long so wont cut too much into my holiday but should be intense enough for me to feel I have had a workout. I have been working out hard recently and think it will be good to scale it back a notch and enjoy my holiday

TheInvisiblePoster · 02/08/2012 21:46

Thanks notyummy I've been logging it under cardio which is around 190 cals. I'm not trying to lose a huge amount of weight but it just helps to keep a log of things.

I've done 30ds shred for the 3rd time tonight (Owww my poor thighs) Grin

bogeyface · 02/08/2012 22:09

I wont be able to do 30DS every day. Four or five days out of a week will be the most I can do, as I only have the lounge with enough room and I refuse to do it with an audience (the baby doesnt count :o)! I can do mon, tues, thurs, fri and every other Saturday (possibly Sunday too sometimes).

Will it still be worth doing?

At the moment I do precisely fuck all exercise, so surely anything will amake a difference?

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 02/08/2012 22:47

Yes another curtain-puller here! No way is the neighbourhood ready for the sight of me jumping around in my living room Grin

Invisible - I log it as circuit training on MFP, which for my weight gives me a calorie burn of 217.

Bogey - I am averaging about 4 days a week and it is making a real difference.

CHST - that sounds a good plan, you want to be able to relax and have a good time. Will you be doing any walking or swimming to assist?

I did no Jillian again yesterday, still felt yucky with AF, but I did do some core work. Today I felt loads better and decided to give Shred L3 a go - it wasn't too bad! In many ways I enjoyed it more than L2. I only used 1kg weights for the cardio, I think I will increase to 2kg tomorrow as that part was quite easy.
I did alter the ab exercises though. My stomach muscles are still separated after having DS2 and full sit ups and leg lifts are a no-no.

Cannot believe how much stronger I am since doing this, it is brilliant. :)

CHST · 02/08/2012 22:58

Ali it is great feeling yourself stronger. Yes I'll do some swimming and walking etc though it is like high 30's early 40's heat at the mo so not sure what I will realistically be able to do. I was sweating buckets here when we had that hot spell! I'm going to watch what I eat as well...not too much gelato for me then! Hopefully the heat will supress my appetite wishful thinking

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 02/08/2012 23:03

mmmm gelato

I am going to Italy in a few weeks, but only for the weekend so ice-cream scoffing opportunities will be limited!

notyummy · 03/08/2012 08:16

Nothing for me today as I am at the Olympic Park to see Jessica Ennis! Did Insanity Pure Cardio yesterday and it was tough. NMTZ tomorrow! Have good holidays those who are jetting off somewhere.

SpringGoddess · 03/08/2012 08:35

Dh is taking the dcs to the pool, while I spend an hour at the gym working off the very tasty Ox cheek pie with colcannon mash and a big fat choc brownie I had last night. I may be working out on holiday but I'm eating out twice a day and the food is so bloody delicious I can't resist.

Turbo fire looks like a lot of fun - all that ott American passion amuses me.
